Ooooh, but the best tricks are never to be spoken of! We must not let the enemies know our secrets…
Eh, i’ll start with a basic from thief 101
Steal + CnD = shadowstep to your opponent and CnD off them to gain stealth right next to them.
Side Trick: Its better to pre-cast the CnD then steal. Less likely for your opponent to dodge the attack.
That’s actually what I was referring to. Edited.

I got one. Someone once complained thieves were crazy OP since we had Shadow Arts – and that trait line made it easy gamemode.
…So I dueled him without any points in SA, and won. He then decided thieves were OP anyways, with or without stealth mechanics.
I have a different suggestion:
Instead of having that gray box stay with no chance of leaving the screen, give a decline option. I bet some will just click it to ‘move on’ the dungeon and assume if they are all doing bad, it must be that one unlucky guy.
Make the kick box smaller, allow it to be minimized so a choice can change later. It has a timer of how long it remains active after the ask to kick – maybe 2 minutes.
I want to be able to kick people I don’t like I don’t mind running pug groups with uplevels. I don’t mind teaching people how to play a dungeon. But I do not want to put up with people who are purposely ‘bad’ and refuse to listen to advice.
We’re running a dungeon. No one in this party wants to spend over an hour on one path. Listen to me when I ask you nicely to change your specs and skills to make this run go faster.
What about this scenario? The party leader decides to afk and let everyone else do the work. Halfway through the dungeon and no one can leave. No thanks, I want to kick that afker.
I’ve been kicked from dungeons. I learned why I was kicked, bettered myself, and move on. Now I don’t get kicked. I get to run alongside elite dungeon parties while they teach me the mechanics for speed clears. And I still make pug groups to meet new people and teach rookies how to play. I like this system.

It’s a bump, so excuse me. I’m not a necro, I swear.
What if p/p 3 gave 1 stack of might for every shot fired? I know I’d drop sb swap like a hot potato and take p/p. What do you think? Maybe a bit too OP?
What if….a thief is granted distort instead of just evades? and it reflected projectiles?
And I’m personally convinced it needs a buff. I’ve never seen it hold ground in WvW – ever. I’ve never lost to a d/d hybrid. Only when they go by the old style backstab, does d/d prove a threat/challenge.
Then why does it need to be changed?
I’m not understanding why the obsession with this skill having bleed stacks as bad. Even if converted to all power and remove bleeds it will never become the next Heatseeker. If this skill never had bleeds on it in the first place and had same dmg people would never have known the difference and instead complain more about its evade mechanic being somewhat unreliable than its low dmg. Not every skill on dagger needs to rip through a target. I was surprised on using glass d/d in low lvl pve that CND was 1 shoting trash. I thought the skill would be low dmg considering its powerful utility.
It needs to be changed because d/d hybrid isn’t a threat. It’s the only build that puts d/d 3 to use, and it’s still not effective. Utility or damage, it’s a waste of initiative. It serves no use in backstab d/d, when it could be changed to have decent utility. Hybrid damage is pointless if you need to spam initiative to stack those bleeds.
Yup, I can understand OP. Happened to me before after helping bunch of noobs in CoE. Well that is nothing if were to compare to fractal. Its infuriating when you got kicked on the last fractal stage, isnt it?
Well here’s what I’m proposing, what if Arena set a rule whereby at the end of a dungeon/fractal, the kick player function will not be available ?
Then you’ll get the trolls who do decent throughout the dungeon, but purposely fail the last one just to spite people. And can’t be kicked.
If someone gets kicked, what happens? Kickers find a member more in their play style, kickee finds a party more in their play style. Anger/annoyance for a few minutes and people get over it. What if you can’t kick? You’re forced to stick with people you don’t want to be with and endure hours of frustration and boredom.

I don’t like the idea of a party leader. I don’t like the idea of someone else controlling the decision of who gets to stay and who gets to go. I like having each five members in the party on equal playing grounds.
And if I don’t like someone for whatever reason, I want to be able to kick them. I’m very tolerant to other’s skill level, and I can be patient to teach people. But But there’s a limit of my patience for someone who isn’t listening. it’s going to get a lot more messy (and more feelings hurt) if someone has immunity in the party.
As long as this item was available only after having maxed out a minimum of say…3 toons to 80, I would be okay with it.
I just don’t want it available for a rookie with a credit card and starts playing this game as a f2p.
Joke thread or troll thread…or both?
I can’t tell…
<Got a precursor drop last month.
<Didn’t pay a copper for my legendary precursor because it was forged in the MF.
RNG: Working as intended.
Amber: 6.5/10 – Her nose looks fine, but the high cheekbones and emotionless eyes kinda bothers me.
Bruce: 10/10 So handsome~
Kat: 8/10 China-doll face, but much better than Amber.
Here’s Anakysha – my goal was to get a Canthan/Asian look, but not one of the sad/lost/timid faces. I wanted her to look like a real serious spitfire.

Once awhile back, after dueling this amazing ele (4 matches, she won all of em, but it was one of the two best duels I ever had against an ele), I was mentally exhausted and went back to roaming for easy kills. I came across a hambow warrior, who proceeded to be an easy kill.
Seconds after, he whispers me and demands a duel. I reply that I just had a duel with a skilled ele, and wasn’t up for another duel anytime soon.
“Ok, I’m getting my guild to gank you.”
Wow. A threat followed after a polite refusal to duel in open WvW? Dunno why he was so mad! Needless to say, it was full of empty, and nothing ever happened. I relayed what happened in map chat, and joined up with a havoc group – pointing the way to the same dude sitting by himself on a cliff. We ended up merging into a zerg vs zerg fight, so I don’t know what became of that poor hambow warrior. But I wasn’t bothered again.
Interrupt mesmer. At any given moment, I got a stun or daze that will keep her on her feet.
I wonder if I can solo her…that would be fun to try…
I think colors will be your only recourse. Charr don’t have different clothing style based on gender. though if it’s any consolation, those of us familiar with charr recognize her sleek feminine form and girly antlers
What colors then? Naturally I want to avoid bright colors – I really want that steampunk look. But a lot of rustic colors just look…dull.
I was hoping if other Charr designers could offer advice on medium armor that made them not look lumpy? Most of the looks I’ve tried to mix and match made her look like a ninja/Ash Legion charr- not what I was after.
This game is a real piece of art. There’s still times I sit back and say, “Kitten, this game is awesome.”
Meet Acirea Moonflare of the Iron Legion. Who looks like a dude instead of a dudette.
Maybe some other Charr out there can help with a makeover. I’ve been trying to give her some kind of prestigious, elegant design, but not glittery fancy. Something more steampunk, not the outfits that would make her look like she’s been running through the barren wastelands.
My dilemma? She looks like a guy. Unless I get her an all glittery kitty look, I fear I just can’t nail the claw-shredding-boot-stomping-no-nonsense-tough-lil-charr-lady look.
And if you mock her braided hair trinkets, she’ll bite your head off.
@Arikyali
I’m not super knowledgeable about builds, but I have trouble seeing the real benefit of Shadow’s embrace. It’s one condition per 3 seconds and you rarely get more than 4 seconds of stealth. Combined with the cooldowns on the stealth skills, that’s not a whole lot of cleansing. I guess it works if you’re simultaneously running away, but if you’ve got multiple conditions and one of them is chill or cripple, it doesn’t seem like you’d be getting a lot out of the trait. I see it a lot in builds, so I’m guessing someone is finding a use for it, but I often wonder if people use it because there just so few cleanses for thieves.
Part of the reason is that there really are very few cleanse, but shadow’s embrace isn’t so bad.
1. 2nd most useful adept trait imo (first is blind on stealth)
2. Usually end up with only 1-2 condi at a time, unless fighting a necro or a group of condi classes. Careful times of stuns and blinds help reduce the hits applying conditions. You can cleanse one and eat the other.
3. Chill, immobilize, and cripple are rarely an issue, since s/d mobility allows you to move out of harm’s way to recover.
The most dangerous condition for s/d is probably torment, and the most dangerous class that applies that are scepter mesmers. Thankfully, scepter mesmers also throw plenty of clones out to CnD off of. I have found PU mesmers to be very easy to counter with dagger offhand, and it’s the shatter mesmers that give me the most trouble. Most shatter builds tend to run a PvP-style setup which cannot afford the PU trait. And a good shatter mesmer will always be smashing clones into the thief before they can CnD off one. But direct damage is preferred for shatter, whereas the scepter is condition, so it’s safe in that regard.

As great as acro s/d is, you’re a sitting duck if you don’t invest at least 2 points shadow arts. The meta for WvW is condi, and condi will shred any decent thief if they don’t have a reliable source of cleanse. Stealth mechanics are simply too necessary of an asset to trade off in WvW. It’s almost a guarantee that you’ll end up in outnumbered fights, especially if you go out solo.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/WvW-Roaming-Havoc-Build/first This is a WvW havoc build I made awhile back, but it follows the same principle mechanics as s/d. Maybe you can get some ideas from it. Just swap out the weapons, or run the tried and true 20606.
If you are really dead-set on going with zero points in SA, there is a 2nd, but expensive option. Get your shortbow equipped with a sigil of generosity and sigil of purity.
The thief sword skill you’re thinking of comes from S/P, and would rarely (if ever) be used in a pvp scenario. It’s too easy to avoid, and too unreliable under circumstances. It’s purely a pve set. 90% of the time, a thief will choose s/d for pvp. Where as mesmer sword is strong for both pvp and pve.
@ oxtred: thief s/d does rip boons, yes, and it always has.
You may cease this foolishness now. Elementalist Avkii is here, as the obvious winner!
And if you disagree, her golem will beat you up. <3
…and I was on the winning team.
Come on, don’t you think this map is just a little too unfair? Especially when our team has all the knockback classes?
It got so bad the other team just stayed in their spawn. And we don’t blame them.
I have a better suggestion: More skimpy armor for male. Less skimpy armor for female.
It’s a win-win.
Well, as a scout from Crystal Desert, that’s quite refreshing to know. Good to hear that T1 isn’t just one major blobfest.
Wait. Blackgate actually has scouts? I’m not trying to be sarcastic or anything, but I was under the impression that T1 was all zerg, zerg, and more zerg.
Proper supply use can make or break a match. A keep with no supply is easier to flip than one that’s stockpiled with supply.
We have an outmanned buff, why not add more to it? If a server is ahead by a certain threshhold of points, add in handicaps for the less resilient servers. A few ideas:
1. Persistent bloodlust in home borderland
2. Decapping/recapping bloodlust requiring less time and effort
3. Cheaper upgrades (in gold and/or supplies) on tower/keeps/castles
4. Reduced upgrade times
5. Camps starting off with the doubled yak upgrade
6. Small boons applied to fortified keeps and towers (require spending less supply on repair)
7. Marginal increase on player stats when faced off in outnumbered fights.
8. Automatic +5 supply when the odds are really stacked up.
I don’t want to brag, (ok, maybe a little bragging) but one server you could use as a case study is Crystal Desert. I have seen our zergs be coordinated enough to shred enemy zergs twice their size. But at the same time, we can be overwhelmed in numbers even during our prime time. It’s not just balancing total coverage with extra points – you got to take into consideration the population per hour, and try to match it to the potential strength of the enemy.
You also might want to think about giving incentives to smaller groups, like havoc squad. Outside of a zerg, havoc do not gain very much personal reward. But they can contribute a great deal to strategical advancement. Anything from soloing camps, killing yaks, tapping keeps, and scouting zergs can assist their side to stay ahead. But while everyone else gets to gather loot and champ bags, havocs do not get anything. In matches with weaker coverage and population, havocs can make a really large impact. My advice is not to just give more points to what ends up being capped or stomped, but to give an incentive for more people to come out and play WvW.
Why not release a smoke field instead? Then we can combo finish it for stealth.

Maybe. One day. Maybe.
I dont find the requirements insane. They are just impossible for the next 1-3 years depending if Anet brings an expansion or not.
My apologies, I only skimmed the majority of the posts. I’ll edit mine.
I want a full set of Radiant armor…I don’t really care for the Hellfire. Anet, can you please, please change the reward system so it’s not impossible to obtain these skins? I don’t mind gathering loads of AP before finally getting the pieces. But why get multiple options for the gloves/boots/etc before we can even complete one set? I can appreciate a reward system that sets long term goals, (regardless if I would have the patience to get them or not) But as a lot have pointed out, it’s a tedious and difficult task to get that far.
Right now, I’m gonna have to settle for this outfit for my Norn. at least celestial dye makes a nice alternative.

I’m from the NA servers, so we usually only get English. But I don’t see what’s the fuss about with speaking a different language; as long as they’re not trying to insult people with it.
There might be cultural influence involved. The US has no official language. At best, some states have adopted English as the official language – but that does not mean it’s “English only.” The US gets a lot of cultural melting pot, especially near the borders.
At best, it’s polite to speak English so everyone can understand. But trying to enforce it or acting with ‘English supremacy’ is just as bad – probably even worse. Language is a part of culture, and on the internet, we got culture coming in from every direction of the world.
I don’t want to see server merges or population movement. There’s a sense of server pride that would be destroyed from any kind of merge.

Question is the title. In WvW the other day, I miscalculated my steal range and got the full cooldown, with no shadowstep or stolen item.
Running glass zerker is still considered man mode though LB zerker are not. A skilled zerker ranger used to be respected if played well. Now they are joke’s of gw2.
Axe mainhand are insane zerker weapons, right? If yes, I’d love to fight against a zerker axe ranger…that’d be interesting.
I actually quite enjoyed the seasons…then again, I’m from CD. >.> But I can relate to the T4-T5 servers getting unfair matchups to T3. CD was like that in past tournaments, and it sucked. Granted, what happened this season was a LOT better than season 1-2, where you’d get hopeless matchups against blobfests, and no real reason to play. At least now, lower tiers still got a fighting chance.
Where can I see predicted rankings? The ones I checked showed CD being 2nd overall in Silver. It took a lot of time and dedication for Crystal Desert to climb the ranks…would a lower tier server actually outrank CD due to population handicap? I’m all for giving some kind of advantage to unfair matchups, but not that much – not when our server poured time, gold, and effort to get where we are today.
Well, this is interesting.
While unlocking skins, I found a ‘polearm’ weapon. It unlocks as a spear, but it implies there was an idea to have land-spears.
Anyone can add info to it?
this will drastically change how often i use my watchknight tonic, from zero to….
oh, wait.. nevermind
Why do you have it, if you never use it? ._.
I’m thinking it was to prevent people from not going ghosts in AC? O_o That’s all I could think of.
I’m mostly thinking about being a dungeon skipper. What do I slot for traits? What weapons? What utilities? I wasn’t exaggerating when I said I had no clue what to do in PvE.
Don’t laugh. But…I…really have no idea how to PvE with a thief. I’m serious. And I have a lvl 80 thief decked in exotic/ascended. I’m WvW and PvP – the most PvE I’ve done with my thief is flipping camps.
…What do I use for PvE? (looking mostly for dungeons and open world content)
I see what you’re saying, but I don’t think we’d have to worry unless it’s an item that’s extremely rare. If you bid for your own item, someone might come along and sell the exact same thing for your bid. Then you’d be stuck with an extra item and less gold.
Problem with calling out ‘hacker’ is a lot of stuff can sound like mere bug exploits.
Thief permastealth: CnD off a wall
Thief teleport: get lucky (or good timing) in return shadowsteps
Flipping a keep without any siege: under-the-map glitch and shooting into the lord’s room.
AC fire into the blindspot of a keep: Widescreen desktop (or stretched window) to give more visual than normal players.
Reports on hackers are just as reliable as reports on UFOs. Anet devs need solid and concrete proof to invest the time to look into hackers. Anyone can say what they want on the internet.
can we get this thread closed or moved to the profession balance board?
I wouldn’t mind it being moved to the balance board. Everyone can then pitch in!
If that happens, we’re doomed.
Bring me death, for it is better than a lifetime of torture.
No! we must persevere! We will endure! We can dodge the bullets and adapt to the changes. We have come a long way, and cannot give up now!
What: Stealth
Why: It is apparently still OP. And…I must be a troll who didn’t like the various nerfs that took me away from total god/goddess mode… (god/dess? Or god-like? Meh.)
Whoever is defending the stealth system in GW2, is either trolling, or didn’t like the various nerfs that took him some steps away from total god-mode. The stealth system that is still far away from being fixed.
All I did was sneak over to the ranger forum to look for a good opponent. ._.

This is just a thought, but what if…P/P was played like a zerk LB ranger?
Wonder if it’s even possible…
