Shall we give Kits to all other professions so they can properly utilize Rune of the Engineer?
aren’t conjured weapons also considered a bundle item? meaning it is not exclusive to all but one profession, while runes of resistance are inclusive to all professions except one…?
Runes of the ranger work on every prof but warrior (only prof who doesn’t have a “pet” option), you were saying?
Runes of the ranger works for warrior too. They’re bugged right now and just give a flat 5% damage increase regardless if you have a companion or not.
I’m surprised more people aren’t using that rune set as it gives the highest dps increase of all the rune sets (scholar gives more dps but requires you to be above 90% health).
The funny thing is Ranger runes are bugged and give a flat 5% damage increase to all classes regardless if you have a pet or not.
Did you seriously get downed by a buffed guild lord?
Perhaps its a l2p issue on your end.
They actually did bump kits damage by 5% at first. Then they decided it was a bug and then lowered it back.
So pretty much they don’t want us to have nice things.
Strength runes are bugged and don’t give 5% damage.
Ranger runes on the other hand are bugged in that they give 5% damage regardless if you have a companion or not.
In order to maximize damage in a dungeon, you need to have these in the group in the following order:
1) 25 might stacks
2) Warrior Banners
3) 25 vuln stacks
4) Perma fury.
Engineers are really the only class capable of stacking and maintaining vuln along with providing might stacks. As such they are among the most useful classes for speed running.
With the release of ascended weapons, most classes have received an increase to their weapon damage. However conjured weapons and engineer kits (the class’s primary mechanic) still use a static damage value equivalent to exotic.
The question is, will conjured weapons and kits see an increase in their base damage to make them in line with ascended weapons? As those things are not affected by your weapon, it seems unfair especially to Engineers to see their primary mechanic unaffected by the ascended weapon changes.
I love how SBI continues to blame our necros for being the reason we wipe you guys over and over and never faults themselves.
The reason our necros are so effective is because you let them be.
The fight for Gold League is getting really interesting. It seems like FA might fall down to silver league with two servers of Mag/SoS/SBI going up into gold league. It really comes down to the matchup this week. If any of the above servers face up against FA, they will take FA’s rating and be guaranteed a spot in Gold.
What’s the support that Flamethrower offers you always speak about?
Both the Flamethrower and the Bomb Kit offer a Fire field, which grants the ability to self-stack Might for one’s group.
Oh, and even with on mobs with the Unshakeable attribute an grenade Engineer can inflict roughly 10 stacks of Vulnerability; but I guess ~10% more damage for the whole group isn’t “honest” support.
Well, let’s get one thing straight. I’m not saying that the Grenade Kit is not in any way helpful or supportive. I think it’s plenty useful in providing offensive support. But I refuse to believe that it is a better support setup than an FT/EG user, which is the insinuation that brought us to this conversation in the first place.
And on the subject of Vulnerability, I would much rather compose a build around giving my group 12-15 stacks of Might. Adding 420-525 Power is nearly as useful (if not equal to or more so) to laying down 10 stacks of Vulnerability on a boss. Plus Might doesn’t exclude Condition Damage users, either.
In a group setting it is far easier for other classes to provide the might than it is for them to stack vuln. Engi is the only class that can reliably stack and maintain vuln. So if your group is able to stack their own group might (very easy as wars, guards, and eles are part of the meta), it is far better for the engi to focus on vuln stacking. If not, then the might stacks from engi is more useful. There is also no reason you can’t do both though.

Well SBI we did what we could on reset but you guys are huge now. Definantly Gold League.
If a guild is doing their own thing, maybe they don’t want you to follow them?
Flamethrower in PvE is just a might kitten. For honest support go for grenades and elixier gun with many finishers.
Just curious, but what “support” does the Grenade Kit offer?
Vuln stacking is one of the most powerful supports you can offer in dungeons and pve.
Not to mention the chills and blind.
Dragonbrand NA deader than Kaineng
How many bandwagon servers is it that have collapsed?
Also, grenades are certainly not a power kit. They just apply too many conditions to be considered a power kit. Out of the kits you listed I would build both FT and bombs for power before grenades.
.
Nades most certainly can be considered a power kit as its power scaling is very strong. For example we agree that the Rifle #1 skill is a pretty hard hitting power skill. It scales off power at a .65 coefficient. Nades #1 skill meanwhile has something like a .33 coefficient, however you throw 3 of them at a time (provided you trait for it). So if you manage to land all three nades, you’ll be getting the full return out of your power. That’s not including the other 2 nade skills that scale even better.
Anything will work really for PvE, its all pretty easy. However the meta right now for dungeons is to stack as much damage as possible and just faceroll through dungeons. For this, Engis are actually really good as they bring very high dps (full zerker with nades, just learn to dodge) while being the only class that can stack and maintain 20+ stacks of vuln.
Engi does more for the group and has better solo damage. Necro has better damage when fully buffed. Necro has no useful utility except for blinds which can be obtained from other classes easily enough. Engi can pretty much cap 25 vuln in aoe on its own. Necro can only maintain 12 vuln on a single target. Engi can stack might pretty nicely, necro can only give themselves selfish might. This is comparing optimized zerker dungeon builds for both classes as condi damage doesnt really have a place in pve.
Nobody needs to stack 25 vulnerability themselves. There are many classes who apply this so being able to stack it yourself isn’t important. Warriors apply it with auto attack on a great sword, Rangers apply it with rapid fire….they will use those skills anyway and that’s just two off the top of my head. Vulnerability stacking is not a good reason to take anyone as most classes can do it to an extent so having 4 other people who don’t stack it is VERY rare.
You actually do need Engis for those vuln stacks. Although other classes may put up a few stacks, they can not stack as high nor maintain 20+ stacks even as a group. Also if a Ranger is using a longbow in a dungeon, tell him to stop being bad and switch to a better weapon set.
You will have to forgive VIV he’s a self hateing Engineer. Engi is fine for picking up groups, and tbh if your puging most of the time you need to find a beter guild.
We have nothing unique to add to groups. It’s not “self-hating” to acknowledge the immense number of flaws with our class’s design.
I’d agree to that in zerg fights in wvw. However in dungeons we’re the only class that can stack and maintain 20+ stacks of vuln.
Necros are one of the key classes in the current wvw meta of Hammer Warrs, Guard, Staff Eles. Engineers sadly don’t really have a place in such a group.
For dungeons, conditions in general are garbo. However the Engi is one of the highest damage contributers with a power build, offering high damage and being the only class that can stack and maintain 20+ stack of vuln (provided you use Grenade kit).
All of Maguuma has decided to transfer to Vabbi. We are currently going to Super Adventure Box all week to pay for our transfers.
Teq will become the new Temple of Grenth.
Great lets turn this already condi spam fest game and give them the tankiness of soldiers gear. Rip power builds for anything but pve.
The runes are even more blatantly op on a warr who can get 9 stacks of confusion with each interrupt (and they have alot of them).
Engi is actually in a pretty good place. They’re one of the top professions in Spvp. They’re good in romaing/small mans in wvw. In pve, Engis are one of the highest damage contributors in dungeons as they have good dps (provided you use nades/bombs) as well as being the only class that can reliably stack and maintain 20+ stacks of vuln.
The only weakness of the Engi right now is they’re not too great in zerg fights against hammer trains in wvw.

Wait so your solution for lower servers is to transfer to higher servers so we can give you even more que times?
Don’t we have enough sample size by now to say that this matchup system is still terrible.
Better use of the map imo
Now I know Super Elixer is a decent healing skill in a group fight, its healing power however is small beans compared to the healing power of a water field being blasted for a zerg wide heal. The problem with SE is that it is a light field and will overwrite a water field that is already down. This is really really bad for a zerg that wants to heal up after an engagement and can at times directly result in a wipe.
I’m pretty sure a lot of people already know not to drop light fields on top of water fields, however there still is a depressing amount of these incidents happening. So before you drop a Super Elixer on a group, please please make sure you are not overwriting an even more important fie.d
Currently Engineer kits (and Eles conjured weapons) don’t use the weapon damage of your equipped weapon, but have a set weapon damage of ~960 (roughly equivalent to a 1 handed exotic weapon). When ascended weapons come out, every weapon will see an increase in their weapon damage. I’m just wondering if Kits and Conjured weapons will also see a bump in their weapon damage. As the main mechanic of the Engineer is their kits, the class will fall behind other classes if kits don’t see a bump in line with the impending release of ascended weapons.
Dropping a Big Ol Bomb followed by an Elixer X can give you a huge damage spike from your BoB.
i agree, i love WvW and its my endgame, i can see my self playing it for years but i stil wont get any of the titles
youve got to think though, they cant lower the kills one now because someone got 250k kills, they would take that away from him
That person also quit the game.
Regardless the devs have said they will change the achievements for WvW sometime “soon” (maybe 2016).
Unless you’re rolling in a karma train, wvw is really bad for lvling. Much better to go to Queen’s Pavillion and pop an xp booster, goes much faster.
Having a Naga Razr mouse or similar can really help you move and throw at the same time.

A thing to keep in mind is that Nades stack vuln 3x as fast (and keep it on) compared to Bombs so the overall group dps might increase more from Nades.
While we appreciate the feedback, and we are going to make changes soon that will at least partially address these types of concerns, it is absolutely 100% not the case that WvW is declining in people playing, play time, etc. We’ve seen steady improvement on all those counts since the start of the year and I’m hopeful that some of the changes coming soon will bring even more people into WvW.
Activity is probably increasing for people in the top 6 servers. But what about the rest? We have an increasing number of guilds from lower servers jumping ship to higher servers partially due to this matchup system.
Engis were always the least played profession.
Zerker Nades is the highest damage output an Engi can produce (Bomb might be a little bit higher but is harder to use). The grenades are one of the best power scaling skills in the game, provided you can get all of the grenades to hit. Adding in static discharge with some low cooldown toolbelt skills can give you a lot of added burst. Or you can do HGH with elixers to make you grenade damage even higher.
I would generally avoid conditions for dungeons as if you have another condition class with you, you will both be cutting into each others damage. Also power is genearlly a lot more efficient in dungeon settings.
There’s a reason why the Water map in Spvp got removed from the tournament rotation.
Static discharge build along with bomb kit will deal the most damage for you at low levels. Grenade kit sucks until you get the GM trait for it which is at lvl 60.
Due to the universal popularity of the Dredge fractal I believe Anet should take lessons from that fractal and apply it to Fall of Abbadon and Thermonova Reactor.
We clearly want a fractal that takes longer to complete than the others combined. We love fighting endless waves of respawning trash mobs. We love them so much that we wish them all to have millions of hp each. Also all of the trash mobs need to be the exact same type throughout; molepeople because who dosn’t love molepeople?
If this formula is used for the new fractals, then I’m sure we will have a beloved and universally praised addition to the fractal world.
Against a small group or an unorganized group, it can be somewhat effective. However retaliation will kill you fast and a simple water field being blasted will negate pretty much all of the damage you do. It is still much better to spend your time building an arrowcart if you have the opportunity.
BS, mate. A water field? Da heck? You think the damage is that weak? I don’t what build you’re running, but I keep at about 10 stacks of might during these situations, the damage far outdamages non-self heals. Retaliation does hurt a bit, but I find it easy enough to heal up.
Maybe you should stop basing your damage against uplevls and glass cannons. The real tanks on the rams that can absorb arrow cart fire laugh at the your damage.

We’re all going to skip it so we can roll swamp anyways.
Our 3 skill should let us kill ourselves instantly so we can WP faster. Better than what we have now.
Didn’t get nerfed!
Don’t get your hopes up. We weren’t be engineers if there wasn’t a bug each patch that breaks something.
Engineers in PvE have one of the highest dps of any class (provided you use Nades). The problem is that Warrs outshine everyone in the dps department and Guards are better at support. Nonetheless it dosn’t matter much unless you’re doing hardcore farming runs.
Engis are great in roaming and small man fights in WvW, however they are bleh in large zerg fights since the meta has devolved into giant hammer train zergs where Engis don’t really have much of a place.
Elixer X is still really only useful right after you drop a Big ol Bomb to hit for 20k damage.
