So, in short, yes, there is a big price difference. Crafting is way cheaper.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
The champion Karka is more challenging than the Jade Construct boss.
Champion karka can be killed by 2 people. Jade construct cannot. Though i admit, that’s not due to real difficulty but to him being a massive hp sponge. You simply time out on him due to not enough dps.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
You do realise that you can choose the stats from a pool. With crafting your going all in on one stat. Like you can choose from all stats with powet major etc.. That’s also included in the costs..
Compare the prices of stats that cost most to craft then… It’s still the same… (and that’s even when ignoring that you can craft the cheapest version and stat-change in forge nowadays).
Remember, remember, 15th of November
It’s designed to be an option for non-crafters, not an alternative for those of us who craft.
Sort of. It’s there so Anet can tell non-crafters that they have an option now, and thus should stop complaining. It’s however also made so even those non-crafters would find that option unpleasant.
It’s not meant for more than a handful of people.
For everyone else, it’s definitely not a valid journal/pages sink.

Hmm. That’s an idea I guess. That’s like 250 ectos though right?
Infusing a back item always costs a stack of ecto. As far as I know the sole exception is Mawdrey, which substitutes some T6 dust (so little, it’s probably less than what you have under your bed).
The other one is the bladed backpiece, which you can infuse in the same step as upgrading it to a colored version. Of course, that one costs way, way more than Mawdrey.
I want it for marurder stats. And yeah I did notice the blood stone fen back piece, hope that has the selected stats I want.
As far as i know, Bloodstone Fen, Ember Bay, Raid and legendary (pvp and fractal) backpieces are the only ones with new HoT stats. Bloodstone should offer you all possible ascended stat sets, including Marauder.

i made myself damage by scraping journals/pages and lost opportunity to buy 15 ascended armor boxes where is average price for crafting like 83g per box
Lucky you. The vendor price, when including matrixes, is double that so by not buying those boxes for pages you saved yourself over 1000 gold.
Seriously, at 15 boxes it is cheaper to craft them directly even if you have to level up all 3 crafts first.

Well, they did admit already that they introduced this only because of people complaining they don’t like to craft, but they never intended anyone to actually use that option. It was never meant to be anything beyond a fig leaf.
So, completely useless.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
kitten …….. Whelp, no choice but to grind those achievements, ty for answering my question
Just remember, that one of the mastery lines is locked behind raids. If you don’t raid, wou won’t be able to complete it – and that means no xp in Heart of Thorns and LS3 areas.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Cuz it would be far more easier to get it from fractals….just compare the backpiece from pvp with the one from fractals…..fractal is far more easier to get.
I’m pretty sure a lot of people would disagree. There were definitely a lot of people that made pvp backpacks well before the fractal one.
And i don’t see how existence of fractal backpack diminished the pvp legendary.
In short, you still look like a person that wants to deny something to others just to feel more special.

While i don’t care about others showing their mastery levels or not, the ingame inspect option is a completely different matter. My dislike of it was never based on whether i need it or not – it’s because i’d rather not see it in the hands of others. And privacy options wouldn’t help here at all.
That doesn’t make any sense at all. Are you sure if what you’re trying to say here?
Yes. To restate it more simply:
There are options you judge based on usefulness to you. There are also options you judge based on what they could do in the hands of others. Inspect is in that second category.
And ability to block inspect wouldn’t change anything.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
A bigger mid node on all maps would turn a lot of maps into foefire 2.0 where the team to first cap middle could easily snowball the rest of the map because holding a large node is extremely easy.
That’s not why you can snowball on foefire. The reason there is that the side points are relatively close, it’s possible to easily support mid while keeping an eye on the side, and also side points are equally distanced from both sides so going far is not such a disadvantage it is on other maps.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Some people probably can’t even fathom why others would want these things, but just because someone doesn’t want the option for themselves, that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be available for other people.
While i don’t care about others showing their mastery levels or not, the ingame inspect option is a completely different matter. My dislike of it was never based on whether i need it or not – it’s because i’d rather not see it in the hands of others. And privacy options wouldn’t help here at all.

Heart Vendor not selling Petrified Wood
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Astralporing.1957
So I just completed the heart by Smooshatron PoI, went to the vendor to get my Petrified Wood but he wasn’t selling it, like the previous days.
Is this a bug or has it been updated?
Have you done that heart on another character on the same day?
Remember, remember, 15th of November
ascendent armor and weapons
…have you seen the non-page part of the price? At least vendoring journals gets you some coins, instead of being a total loss, as in this case.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
With relics, why spend them on decorations when you could instead save up for endless potions, ascended chests, tonics, etc?
In case of ascended chests their non-fractal relic cost is so great, that they are not worth buying at all. The stabilizing matrix price alone makes them cost more than crafting options. With gold added on top of that…
Other options are more interesting (especially since you can’t get them any other way), but they’re at most an one-time purchase. After you buy them, you’re back to having no sink for relics again.
So, the relic price of decorations might actually be okay in the long run. Tiering is not.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Win10 however is definitely not an improvement, and not something i’d wish for anyone.
Also, from what the devs managed to say so far, the problems with GW2 engine not being that well optimized are in no way DX related. It’s the CPU main thread that would need to be rewritten. Graphical stuff is relatively fine (as long as you’re using 64bit client), the main bottleneck is outside of it.
TL/DR: no matter how big the DX improvements, they would be wasted due to inefficiency of the threads they connect to and w wouldn’t be seeing any improvement.
It’s the case of a better car in a heavy city traffic. You could have a ferrari, and it wouldn’t make your ride faster by a second.

Though the handful of apples I ferried today never needed dropping, if you use the lava tube + glide option you will find almost no aggro on your way.
Unless some “friendly soul” will keep training two nearest groups of jade constructs right to the spot, which results in almost 100% coverage of AoEs knockbacking everyone from the platform.

Or make it available for pvp season tickets in a tab only unlocked after reaching legend
Maybe, but that would be a tad bit too easy imo
They plan to make legend harder in future. Also it would be stupid to limit the reward to 5 people per season.
Nah scarcity adds value
5 per season would make it more rare than a chak egg worth 10k gold (people would probably pay more, but 10k is the trading post cap). And there are 18 pieces of this armor to collect
You are usually the first person to claim, that making an object less rare (or just obtainable in any way, after the previous way is no longer available) devalues the item, and thus should never happen. Why this sudden change of heart?
Remember, remember, 15th of November
And something needs to happen quick because we’re already just 12/13 days from deadline when this category goes away.
I’d suggest extending it till the start of the next season. As well as doing something to make Capricorn more available, because as it is now, i don’t see getting even one match in the time i have available every day.
I’d also like to ask devs for any quick response. I’d rather know now whether i will still have a chance of finishing up on the achieves, or should i give up on them already.
Also, i find it really interesting, that the way Anet introduced Colosseum made me, instead of being interested in seeing a new map, have a completely negative reaction to it. Before i even could see it, at that.
Marketing at it’s best.

I tend to agree that Lazarus wants to take down the dragons. Although, I doubt it’s for any actually virtuous purpose. I think he just wants their magic.
I’d say simple survival would do it for him as well. This time he sees there is a chance to off the elder dragons. He doesn’t have to play the waiting game the same way Mursaat of old did.
We know he’s capable of absorbing large amounts of magical energy and coming out unscathed, I think he wants to be standing right next to an Elder Dragon when one dies.
Possibly. Or he may be counting on the Door of Komalie’s Bloodstone. Which is likely the point to where the influx of magic went, as well as the thing Primordius is after.
I don’t think Primordus is after a Bloodstone. It’s odd, but Zhaitan and Mordremoth were both adjacent to bloodstones and completely ignored them.
The bloodstones were empty then. The magic that was sealed within leaked into the world long ago. The Bloodstone Fen one however has been awakened by White Mantle sacrifices, and then acquired a large share of magic when Mordremoth died.
On the other hand, now that i think about it, the Bloodstones just had to be elder dragon-proof somehow – they were made to conceal the sealed magic from them after all. Their very creation would have had no sense if dragons could simply sniff them out and eat them. Perhaps, now that one of them got broken, that concealment effect is starting to fail?

And here I was excited to finally play necro again. RIP the dream. sigh
PvP should not be balanced around taking away good options from stat combinations… if a build is too strong, the offending skills should be balanced, or counterplay skills buffed, not good choices taken away from all builds so that the strong builds are forced into sub-optimal stats to “balance” them.
Necromancer needs those stat combinations to be on par with other professions.
Necro needs defensive stats.. other professions have blocks, invulns, evades, invis, etc. All we really have is DS and we need to build it up to make use of it. It also scales off our own vit.
Necromancer is probably the most stat-reliant profession in the game.

Nerf the traps size instead of nerfing blocks.
Now that is likely a good idea. Traps that are almost the size of points are a bit too good.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
@Kuya, I didn’t know they were different. The dmg dealing one.
Ah, the newbie trap. It’s mostly useless, unless you have some really good teammates (you need hard cc from other sources to make it work properly, so basically you need a second player dedicated just to keeping opponents in your traps).
Are people really traiting as they want, and still making it viable?
No, there’s simply several different builds. Each build has different strengths and weaknesses. And yes, each build has some glaring weaknesses.
Though they might seem OP if you can’t distinguish between them, because you attribute all their strong points to a single build.
Are you trying to start a new debate? Do you think it’s a skill-based class? Does it matter what I play?
It always matters what you play.
By the way, i don’t play guardian. It’s just i have learned that it’s not the class i fear to be on the opposing side. And if i know my opponent is good, i’d rather have him play guardian than some other classes that can be truly dangerous with high skill.
And I can’t figure out a class that would be able to tank it either, trying to keep the point.
I’ve only scrapper or another DH be able to hold point for a prolonged period (longer than 3-5 mins) vs a DH. A scrapper should be able to beat a DH, but it’ll be a long fight.
Druid will lose point due to stealth from CA. They won’t even come close to dying, but that doesn’t really matter since they can’t hold the point.
Warrior will either have to kill relatively quick or concede the point as well, the longer the fight lasts the better it is for the DH.
A power rev should be able to kill the DH provided they can avoid the initial burst.
Thief generally gets creamed.
Ele might survive for a while, especially vs a mender spec but will likely get killed the moment they get hit with a CC by a marasymbolic build.
Necro is a free kill if they’re solo for all DH specs.
I’m not sure how mesmer fares, I haven’t seen enough this season. Likely loses point but might be able to 100-0 the DH with a continuum split cc shatter combo or a condi bomb at 50% HP with their cleanses down.
If it’s not the bunker dh, then ranger and mesmers might end up letting the point decap for a while (unless it’s foefire mid), but they will end up killing that DH and recapping fast, barring some real difference in skill. Assuming some minimum competence, of course (trap DH is a noob killer, even when played by another noob). Bunker dh will not die that easily, but won’t be able to deal any damage to them as well, so it will go into a contest of pushing and pulling around.
Also, remember that dh that stays constantly on point, with competent opponents will end up having to constantly fend off the classes that can win with it, leaving the others to deal with remaining opponents. And dh on the move loses a lot of its capabilities (no precast traps, for example) and can die way more easily, even to opponents it would definitely win with on point.

Is Revenge of the Capricorn even in the map selection anymore??
i haven’t seen it on map selelection after patch for 5 games now. Probably bugged, hope they fix it soon only 2 weeks for capricorn achievements left
I double checked and Capricorn should appear even though it is no longer pinned in unranked.
Should be pinned till the achievements time out. It’s already bad enough even without it that you dropped a new map (and a new set of timed achievements) before the season end. You’ve basically cut short the time for Capricorn achievements by 2 weeks without prior notice.
please have separate queues for these 2 maps.
That would be even better.
And if you can’t do it within a day or two, you really should consider extending Capricorn achievements deadline as well.

seems to be an good update so far. my only complaint is the lack of primordus’s FIRE minions in Ember Bay.
I get that the story changed it a bit but Primordus is the fire dragon! his fire minions are largely absent from ember bay nearly with nearly everything being death or plant related.
This is explained in the LS dialogues. Check out Taimi’s theorizing.
It’s not. Fire minions should be there as well, alongside two other types. It’s not like they (the real deal, not the weaksauce ones modeled after surface critters) weren’t at least equally dangerous as the new versions.
but why for the love of the 6 gods does the little dragon have to be a chibi big-eyed thing? Why can’t it look more “serious”?
They really wasted a golden opportunity there. I really hoped for the dragon to say “It is as i have foretold” in a voice known to the GW1 veterans (well, they likely couldn’t get that voice actor anymore). While looking not cute at all.
Though the other surprise of the story worked out really well, in my opinion.
So far, really liking the story. IMO S3 is the best gw2 story arc so far (and by far). Map is good as well, and seems to me that i might actually enjoy playing on it for a longer time (instead of just farming it for map currency, like i did with BF). Overall, the episode 2 looks really good – i hope the devs will manage to keep to that level further on.
That saying, there are still some things that are worth mentioning (and not in a good way)
1. The last instance of the episode is a bit overdone. You end up wanting for it to finish as fast as possible long before it ends. It’s not like anything really interesting happens during most of it – you end up just repeating the same actions over and over and over and over again.
2. Why, oh why “Old foes, Old ghost” starts right on top of a boss battle that, when up, makes doing it either downright impossible, or at least extremely irritating?
3. new pvp map could have been delayed till season’s end. That way it would not collide with remaining time for doing the achievements for the Capricorn.
4. new map currency… and still no place to put it.
5. the pricing on new fractal vendor is extremely confusing. Even with dev explanation, i just can’t understand the reasoning beyond that. It’s like devs wanted to make it completely useless – but then, why even put it there in the first place?
Remember, remember, 15th of November

So, after much internal debate, they decided to make those vendor positions mostly useless.
Why i’m not surprised?

holy guacamole……mic drop.
a new legendary weapon and no insider trading knowledge.
Picture was posted few days ago. Of course, most people (including me) thought it would be a legendary-made-gemstore-sale, like the stormbow.
(by the way, mace and shortbow were two legendaries that were supposed to be furthest along, so i wouldn’t expect more leggies anytime soon).
Edit: was mistaken
They decided to cut out the middlema… significantly shorten scavenger hunt part. It is now really “precursor crafting” (no further comment on that, until i’ll get a better feel of the new system).

People do know that you can click on interactable objects to give them interact priority right? I have never once been blocked from interacting with something. You can always click on the object and then interact with it. This is a non-issue by people who aren’t aware of all ingame options.
Go ahead, click that harpoon
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Here are some reasons that aren’t malicious:
1. Thought they had double clicked on the feast from the bank tab, but instead from their inventory tab and spawned it instead of storing it in the bank.
2. Were trying to be nice and give boosts to those at the bank before they run off to do whatever but forgot to take a few steps away from the bank.
Those aren’t trays you see used for buffs at the events or in WvW. And those inexpensive-but-mostly-useless trays are not something someone might accidentally make and place a lot of.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Correct. I did not say “It’s not a problem.” I simply gave an estimate — sustained by the members of this thread — that this is not a frequent issue, and I suggested — again agreed by several — that in many cases the situation arises out of accidental causes.
Yes, in many cases it may be an accidental issue, but, in my estimate (surprisingly also supported by the members of this same thread) non-accidental cases aren’t that uncommon at all. Even if we limit ourselves only to the most obvious ones (like the one from the picture in stale’s post, or when someone admits to it in the open).
It may be simply the case of playing differently, and thus being around those things more/less than others. It may be also the case of not seeing them when they aren’t a problem for you, personally…
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Don’t get cute. The example the OP gave is what I’m talking about. Whatever kittenery you encountered? That’s another situation.
What do you think is more likely, that someone accidentally spawned a golem banker on a vista (place where they were unlikely to ever need bank access), or that someone did it intentionally?
And even if in OP’s case it was accidental, it doesn’t make the problem brought up any less real. Because it does happen, and is, unfortunately, very common.
It’s just an everyday part of gaming in GW2, and there’s been ways around it for 4 years now.
Remember this is an MMO game, lots of people doing what ever they think is fun to them at the time.
I get that griefing is fun for some people, but it’s the kind of fun that should be actively discouraged. People shouldn’t be having fun at other player’s expense. Your freedom to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Again, you’re under the assumption that this was done on purpose.
Last time i saw that, it was a large number of trays right on top of the great nightmare chest in the labyrinth.
Yeah, it was surely accidental. Thinking it was done on purpose is completely baseless.
Right…

Don’t read the spoilers if you don’t want to be spoiled
You mean i should stop reading forum completely? Because the spoiler was right on the front page of the general forum for everyone to see at that time…
Which one? You’ve never watched a movie trailer? Or a game trailer, or a patch release trailer?
Any trailer that spoils a major reveal is a bad trailer. But it’s not like that. It’s the people that had have seen some limited access prelaunch info talking about major plot points in the queue for the movie on the first day of screening.
Also, remember that Anet did claim that raid story will not impact LS at all. Reading raid lore (even if someone was trying to actively do that, instead of getting accidentally exposed) should have been safe spoiler-wise.

This is correct. Art resources that would be spent on a set of armor that works across all races and professions would be better spent on creating new fractals. However, new weapons are much easier to make.
And yet legendary armor, that is meant for a much smaller group of people, is a thing.
Hi Benjamin, can you briefly explain your development process for making new armour? Surely modelling up the 6 items or 12 for male vs female doesn’t take that long, even with the various scale differences of the different races? What software do you guys use to develop your design themes? I would be fascinated into hearing a bit about it and the reasons on your end why it is so time consuming.
Not a dev of course, so can’t say anything about their software or techniques, but from what they said before it’s not that. The real problem lies not in designing 6×2×5 pieces. It lies in matching that pieces to all already existing older armor sets, and making sure there aren’t some glaring connection problems.
(something they obviously didn’t do that well on non-human versions for some of the past armor sets, even for the same-set pieces – see naked belly case on many armors in Norn version, or charr armor in general)
Remember, remember, 15th of November

But, it makes no difference. EU players won’t get Legendaries any more quickly than NA players; at best they might get a refund and lose access.
That’s true. By now, i guess any chance of Anet doing legendaries any time soon is basically void. And them trying to sell legendaries as a part of new expac would also be really stupid – not only noone would believe them, but they’d end up with bad press instead of desired pre-expac hype.
I’m still going to keep calling them out on undelivered promises. Even if i know there’s no chance of them fulfilling them. New players have a right to know that things like that may happen again.
I don’t own a share in the amusement park every time I pay to go there … I pay for access to the rides. Same thing.
If you happen to pay for a ride, and then amusement park staff tell you that sorry, that ride got cancelled, they’d better return you the money for the ticket. Same thing.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
(edited by Astralporing.1957)
That’s nice … the fact remains that you pay for access. You don’t own your account. So when people complain they didn’t get content they paid for, they don’t understand what they are actually talking about.
Nope. At least in EU, paying for access and “we keep a right to delete your account for no reason whatsoever” parts of EULA still won’t protect you under consumer rights from not delivering on sale promise. Because EULA cannot vaive consumer rights guaranteed by law (and those points are trying to do exactly that).
It doesn’t mean, of course, that customers are going to take that to the court. Obviously, in most cases, they won’t. It doesn’t make your argument any more true, however.

We never had a confirmation in the raid that Lazarus lived or died. We started with a hunch, we ended with the same hunch.
No, we didn’t. But if the raid story was really not related, we’d all be surprised by his appearance. Or at least some of us would be, and others would be a little bit more surprised than they were.
The hints in the raid were strong enough however, that when he appeared in the story, he wasn’t a surprise for anyone that was paying even cursory attention.
Raid ended up being a huge spoiler for LS3. Hardly something that’s unrelated.
And for everyone that wasn’t raiding, it was exactly that – a spoiler. Not part of the story you played yourself, but a huge reveal you learned because other people saw something you didn’t.

I remember a time when we did fire ele and it wiped everybody, consequently it was nerfed.
It was a bit more complicated than that. The OP element came from it’s scaling system for adds being broken – with too many people around enough of the embers spawned to make any attempt to cross the bridge a suicide, and to cover most of the floor in the room with lava fonts. However, if you had like 5 people inside the room, ready for action when the fire ele spawned, you could kill it in 5-10 seconds.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
i would agree with you if this were a subscription based game, which it is not.
This is not a point of argument … it’s simply true. Read the EULA. You pay for access. You don’t actually own your account or anything on it.
EULA is not the law. In fact, it has been proved many times already that a lot of points that businesses like to use in EULA (especially the one you bring up) do not actually relieve developers from their responsibilities to their customers nor can they vaive (or step around) any customer rights.
It doesn’t stop those points from being used in EULAs, of course, because a lot of people actually believe they do matter.

Hi,
since the infusion revamp, I’m sitting on thousands of fractal relics without being able to spend them somewhere meaningfully.
I cannot even spend them to upgrade my chars and gear with infusions, anymore.
I suggest you add the ability to purchase Integrated Fractal Matrix with fractal relics alone, at ratio you find appropriate (100/ea, for ex).
Another suggestion is to add the ability to purchase Stabilizing Matrix with fractal relics.
Ty
dont’ you need fractal relics and stabilizing matrix to make stat infusions? like mighty +5 power and +7 agony resist?
Technically, yes, but by the time you will have 200 matrices for one infusion, you will have way, way more than 300 relics

That kind of rarity will not stop poor players from being poor. It will only stop them from being able to enjoy said skin.
There are 113 different skins (acquirable with gold, 153 total) for Staffs, plenty of them are beautiful, some are rare and others are common.
Are you telling me that people can not enjoy the entire weapon class because one single skin, one that is both nice and rare, is to expensive for you?
Way to put in my mouth words i haven’t said. I didn’t say anything about “not enjoying a whole class of skins”. Additionally…
It’s “not pointlessly rare” — it’s just rare and it’s coveted.
[…]
The demand for the staff outstrips demand by a 10:1 ratio and for the hammer it’s only 1.5:1. The hammer is rare, but people aren’t as interested in it.
It’s not just “one of the 153 skins”. It’s one of the most desirable skins in that group. So yeah, having it not accessible due to arbitrary rarity is going to make a lot of people unhappy.

Maybe the Raid will be inside the Foundry!
As long as they insist on the restrictive raid model they currently employ, they really need to stay away from popular lore-based landmarks/settings/scenarios – and definitely stay away from anything to do with the story the current game is trying to tell.
I realize that is an unpopular opinion among a subset of the community, but it is the situation they have created for themselves if they want to avoid alienating or frustrating a sizeable number of their players.
They need to stay away from nothing, the claim that raids can’t have interesting story/lore connected to them is beyond hilarious.
They can, but it really should be something self-contained. Making the current raid an introduction to LS3 was a bad move. Continuing with the idea would be even worse.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
But it is lore appropriate to find karka there.
Is it?

Rarity can’t exist to make poor players richer as only richer still players can do that.
Richer players will pay lucky poor players for coveted drops, whether for themselves or for investment purposes. That is how “rarity” makes poor players richer.
Actually, due to the rarity, it will make only a few players richer, most of whom will be farmers, not poor players. And it will be at the expense of all the others.
Because, you see, such a drop can make Mr_I_Multiloot_AB_All_Day_Long richer only if it will be something those average poor players you are so concerned about are only able to dream about.
That kind of rarity will not stop poor players from being poor. It will only stop them from being able to enjoy said skin.

So this lead to that people, who are lazier than me on achievement hunting, still get an edge on me for TWO years, just because the dailies award achievement points.
No. They had an edge on you because they have been playing for two years while you did not. And the current situation lets you ignore that point and makes their 2 years advantage completely irrelevant.
It works both ways. While i do understand why you might want to keep the current situation as is, or downplay daily ap’s even more, you should understand that the other group has an equally strong point as well
Yes, i do agree that a lot of the permanent achievements should be worth more. Especially many of the new ones, which are often ridiculously undervalued. I also think, though, that the daily cap should be removed as well.
