No. You don’t like it, don’t buy it and ask Arenanet to make more armor instead of trying to force them to change existing art.
More options, not more alterations.
My significant other plays this game almost as much as I do, and she has this skin on two of her characters. She loves it. People have different tastes.

There isn’t much you can do in way of support.
Ignore venom-sharing builds. They detract so much from your personal DPS that encounters will drag out immensely and your supportive measures will be wasted when the fight could have ended sooner and less room for error would have been created.
Honestly, the only support you should worry about is Deception utilities and boons from the Trickery line. Other than that, you should be speccing as much as possible in to damage. Other classes are better at support than Thieves are. Don’t waste the party slot with it.
Stick with S/P and D/D, with builds like 25/30/0/0/15 or 25/30/10/0/5. If you want to be supportive, take builds like 10/30/0/0/30 to get the boons.

If it looks so ridiculous, why does every single human female medium seem to wear it?
And yes, the Viper armor counts.Excuse me, human medium wearer here.
Please indicate where you see T3 medium in these:
Rephrase, almost every.
I am also a human medium wearer. 3 separate non-T3 sets.
There are plenty of alternative looks achieved with mixing and matching.
Regardless of how you feel about it, you cannot just go and ask them to change the art of an established armorset because you don’t like it. Tons of other people do, and it’s not fair to put all of their gold and gems to waste for your personal taste. Ask for more armor, not a redesign.
I, for one, don’t find it tasteless. I like the design. If you want tasteless, check out the 30g bra for Scholars.

I’m sure the thousands of people who have already spent hundreds of gold and upwards of thousands of gems designing their looks around the gear would be perfectly content with your request to change its appearance and render all of their expenses void.
If it looks so ridiculous, why does every single human female medium seem to wear it?
And yes, the Viper armor counts.

Why would a venom even heal you to begin with anyway, at least it should do something to the target.
THIS. ABSOLUTELY 100% THIS.
I was expecting an extremely potent Life Leech instead of just a flat-out heal. It makes literally no sense.
u know that the tooltip of every venom describes what one hit does. in other words: 4×1400 points of health.
and nobody will take this skill, when it can countered by a heal skill (warriors stance skill)^^
CD too high when u are alone – CD is ok (or a little bit OP) if u take venom share and 20 points in DA. first put 20 points in DA then take skelk venom. new builds will appear……no.
no condition remove. ok. with condition remove the skill is OP. so if u take skelk venom, u have to spend 30 points on traits line without a choice (10 in SA – shadows embrace).i’ll take withdraw, simply because it gives me agility removing immoo, chill and cripple and has a perfect cd with 15sec. thief’s don’t need a heal skill with a cd over 30sec. who the f*** has this idea? we have less vigor and should w8t longer until we can use our heal skill…
EDIT——————-
forgotten the 1 sec cast time sry, but for me, this skill is only usable if i stay 600m away from any enemy. the 1 sec cast time on basilica venom, ok, no prob, elite skill, maybe anet could remove it, but anyway. This is starting to rise into the realms of the surreal. All these details cannot be accurate. What you’re describing is blatantly garbage – an indie developer wouldn’t let is pass QA. I’m not even making a dig at ANet, I’m honestly convinced something has to be wrong here (or this is an early build of the ability, etc…), because as described, this skill is provably worse than our current options in nearly every single way.
It’s at least half-functioning. Paste the code in-game and see for yourself. Even if there’s a slight variation at patch, this is basically it.
Just experimented with it. It seems to:
- Get proper CD reduction with Quick Venoms
- Receive an additional attack with Residual VenomBut:
- Does not give Might with Venomous Strength
- Does not get additional damage and healing with Leeching Venoms
- Does not benefit from Venomous AuraThis was tested by changing the traits and comparing the additions to the code with existing Venom skills.
Ummm… So what’s the point of this skill again?
Currently asking myself the same question.
Just experimented with it. It seems to:
- Get proper CD reduction with Quick Venoms
- Receive an additional attack with Residual Venom
But:
- Does not give Might with Venomous Strength
- Does not get additional damage and healing with Leeching Venoms
- Does not benefit from Venomous Aura
This was tested by changing the traits and comparing the additions to the code with existing Venom skills. Tooltips like “Number of Targets: 5” did not appear, but the “[icon]Skelk Venom(30s)” did turn blue and go from 4 strikes to 5 on the icon.
[&BxJVAAA=]
For those not at home:
Venom. Your next few attacks heal you.
Number of Attacks: 4
Healing: 1300
EDIT: Pasted the wrong code, it was the new Ele heal. Fixed now.
(edited by Auesis.7301)
Here’s the in-game code: [&BxJVAAA=]
4 hits, 1.3k heal. kitten CD.
So you mean, I could like, attack the air and get healed?
That’s OP.
Depends entirely on how much it heals.
If the heal is decent, then it will still be kinda meh.
If the heal isn’t decent, then it will be as expected for venoms.
Caithe Ferborn, my sylvari thief. All them human thieves look the same
“ALL THESE THIEVES LOOK THE SAME”
posts a carbon copy of Caithe
Sorry, not a special snowflake. Pretty much the same situation as the Norn that get T3 and make themselves look exactly like Eir. Lol.
I really enjoyed the one where crits damaged you. Gave me an excuse to change to an old condition build so I didn’t melt every time I clicked Pistol Whip once.
I want I want i want. All those precious tears. What else do you want. Autoattack 100k damage at least I guess.
I’d like permastealth for all my characters all time even when attacking. And a few Dragon pets of course.
Because wanting the capability to use ranged weapons at the same distance as other classes is the same as wanting a super, hyper, ultra buff way out of line with everything.
Take your pathetic hyperbole somewhere else. I don’t think I’ll be able to take any post you ever make seriously after that.
It’s not acceptable. Period.
Either every class is capable of 1200, or no class is. That is the be all, end all of the argument.
While in process of fixing that, make P/x not terrible as well.
They should completely remove the dredge fractal.
This is the only solution I would be happy with.
It will constantly bounce back and forth between aggroing Rox/Braham (who magically revive themselves so can’t be stopped), and then it will immediately start resetting its health. It actually did this EIGHT TIMES, IN A SINGLE FIGHT.
This needs a fix, desperately.
(edited by Auesis.7301)
Done a couple of 40s now. No box.
Well this is new. First time I’ve seen a whine/cry about HiS.
Seriously? You can’t be. Surely. You are an Engineer. Just put down your endless conditions on my face. The removal isn’t even close to being able to compete with your output.
I am in awe of the ignorance witnessed here. How about you play the profession for more than 5 seconds? You realise we actually need MORE condi removal, not LESS? We melt within nanoseconds upon touching a point in sPvP if a single condi build is within 10 miles. How fantastic is that, when the entire meta is condi-centric? /s

It’s a problem with the Instability. You can stop yourself getting hit (jump the waves etc.), but if you DO get hit, there’s pretty much a 100% chance it will hit you from the side or back, even if you’re looking directly at the attack. Hits for hilarious damage.
This means that when the change goes through, I will effectively lose both sets of Human Light T3 (worth 238g, but I think 2 or 3 pieces I didn’t buy for one set) because I thought the Flamekissed T3 art was clearly better.
Will I be liable to be refunded for the whole 2 armor sets when the change occurs and I have absolutely no cultural to show for it?
(edited by Auesis.7301)
So, I got 2 sets of this skin and transmuted it over 2 sets of T3 light because it was a clear improvement in my eyes.
Now, I won’t have a T3-esque skin, and splitting the skin off will get the exotic. I will lose both sets of T3.
Where’s my 238g?
Is it possible to put a long duration poison on Mai before the cannon phase to prevent this? I mean, if she’s invuln, does it clear off the poison or does the poison just deal no damage and not reduce healing?
She clears all conditions.
What really stung was the intro of the Fractal has the ice wolves. Exactly the same as CoE.
Thanks for CoE v2. Exactly what I wanted. /s
Observe. This is how the team plays Thief.
I invite you all to bring your best headdesk/facepalm/facewall gifs.
Quite possibly the worst display of Thief gameplay I have ever seen in my life. What a disaster :S
And, naturally, Thaumanova looked like CoE v2, exactly as I predicted. Even had the wolves at the entrance. Yay.
I’m waiting to see what the Instabilities actually are before I form an opinion. They could be game-changing for the better, or they could be incredibly lame and just keep 31-50 as a snore-fest like it always has been, but even moreso since the curve is being modified.
My two main looks – first is WvW + multi-purpose PvE. Second is hardcore PvE.
Kay, I have to ask what your second one is wearing—I don’t think I’ve seen that armor before, but I really like it.
Hood: Anonymity
Shoulders: HotW
Chest: Viper
Gloves: HotW
Legs: Magitech
Boots: AC
My two main looks – first is WvW + multi-purpose PvE. Second is hardcore PvE.
I’m fairly sure that’s the Norn female animation now O_o
I don’t have much to add. Just this.
Are we going to see any changes to this Fractal at all? In its current state, 48 daily runs use incredibly cheesy tactics for the bomb runs, the amount of trash is abhorrent and the clown car is the most mind-numblingly boring thing to ever exist.
This fractal isn’t even difficult for the most part, it’s just extremely time-consuming, and the prospect of getting stuck with it potentially every other run is just…no.
If you die to Choking Gas and Caltrops, you should perhaps play a different game.
I recommend this:
Jon said something about splitting the skill in to 2 halves like FS/LS, which would enable them to increase the stun duration and do other things to it. At least, that’s what I think he said. Check the Dec 10 thread with the red tag.
Found it: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Dec-10th-thief-changes/page/5#post3162518

I like it – it’s a buff in some situations, but a good change to emphasise managing the skill a little more than just a fire-and-forget escape button. A much better solution than a cast time (for latency and many other reasons that have been covered hundreds of times).
Also Necrotize, it is 1/4s.
The whole point of going zerkers at bosses that actually require a bit skill is to compensate gears with skill. A timer on a boss would force people to gain that skill. PvE in this game is way too casual.
The idea of a skill test, and not a gear test, in your mind, is a boss based around a DPS race?
What are you smoking? A boss that requires a certain amount of DPS being reached is not a test of skill at all. It’s just another gear check, an unnecessary layer. How about actual interesting boss mechanics ie. a total overhaul to the Defiant mechanic, enrage timers, strategic AI and the like, instead of slapping you with a big HP bar and a timer, saying “place TW, banners, Spotter + 100b here, and bring a Scholar set”?
Absolutely nothing in this game requires proper skill, yet.

Backstab doesn’t deserve some sort of special treatment to be immune from the effects of Weakness. It’s doing what it’s supposed to – heavily hindering 50% of attacks, even crits, by bringing them down to glancing blows. Hidden Killer is also working as intended – it’s just a 100% boost in crit chance, and nowhere is mentioned that it’s a guaranteed crit. The 100% boost would make it effectively a guarantee, but Weakness will potentially mitigate it, again, as intended.
Characters in the tower randomly get stuck on various overflows within the tower, and my Warrior is PERMANENTLY stuck in Lion’s Arch, has been for weeks.
Eles are pretty much non-existent in the meta (Dec 10 changes might do something about that). They just totally melt in tourneys, and any attempts at bunkering are better done by other classes.
what is hotjoin pvp? Like WvW? I’ve been reading only backstab is viable, is this true?
Hotjoin PvP is the non-tournament matches, up to 8v8. It’s where skill matters none, run whatever you want and murder people for no good reason.
In tournaments, high-level Thief builds have either been D/P trickery builds or S/D evasion builds, one of which (the 2nd) is being held back extremely harshly next patch. So, I hope you like D/P, being extremely glassy with no condition removal or simply love spamming 2 with Shortbow to AoE a point. It’s unclear exactly how badly S/D will be butchered, but it’s not looking great.
(edited by Auesis.7301)
Nope. Loved thief since launch, still do.
Sometimes it’s nice to be a “carebear” PVE player. Nerfs to me are just meh, I barely notice them. People are complaining about a 1/4 second cast time added to an ability; a quarter of a second !?!?!!!
There is a big, BIG difference between a short cast time and the actual act of adding a cast time to something that didn’t have one.
Intention – nerf S/D. Actual effect – nerf both S/D and whatever is left of S/P.
Vigor is nerfed for almost every class
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Critical_Infusion
Is it? Is it really?
I said it in he other thread but this trait has to get hit hard because it is breaking the profession. We need to push the effectiveness of this trait into base thief functionality. If any other profession had a trait that reduced weapon cooldown by 30% for all weapons as a 15 point minor we would have to balance around that. A single trait shouldn’t be holding thief balance hostage so we will steal from this trait, no pun intended, and impart the savings on to every build via base initiative regeneration.
Jon
Are you just going to pretend the change to Ilusionist’s Celerity never happened? Then you went and ignored Critical Infusion too.
This blatant disregard for consistency is RIDICULOUS.
(edited by Auesis.7301)
Sigh
I though that everyone would be absolutely thrilled to get a +33% boost on the Initiative-reg.
Apparently, the attitude on this Thief forum is little else but pessimistic and vile.
Sure they “nerfed” Initiative-gain from Traits, but that’s fairly well balanced out by the initial initiative regeneration increase!
And the Vigor nerf was seen by other Professions, but now we’ve it easier to use evades from out Weapon skills!
It’s not a 33% boost to any build that uses Opportunist. So…pretty much EVERY competitive PvP build that exists out there, bar maybe one or two. You potentially end up with a lower pool than before…
And oh, was it? Was it really? Tell that to Mesmers, with Critical Infusion. 5 points in a critical damage/precision tree for permanent Vigor.
(edited by Auesis.7301)
I’m gonna be so happy when they finally nerf your perma stealth OP class.
Feel free to celebrate right now. The crying minority has effectively killed the profession and can now have their free kills handed to them by said profession.
I really hope this was what you wanted.
Of course it was. They never cared for balance. They just wanted to win. If winning meant classes that weren’t their own got nerfed in to uselessness, fine by them.
Don’t bother with a guilt trip. This is EXACTLY what they wanted.
(edited by Auesis.7301)
I think the range is okay as-is, but I think a lot of the problem could be solved by just having it teleport you backwards instead of in a random direction. Then it requires positional awareness instead of luck, and would sync up with builds that use teleports, Withdraw, and/or Roll for Initiative. It could also then be used as a positioning tool.
I haven’t tested it extensively, but I’m pretty sure it teleports you in the opposite direction of the oncoming disable – but doesn’t take in to account your character’s orientation, so you just have to hope the Warrior with Skull Crack doesn’t hit you while there’s a wall in front of him.
Even if it doesn’t, I agree. It needs to be positional relative to your character, not the disable itself.
Vigorous Recovery & Bountiful Theft
I’ve seen a lot of talk about this as well, and discussing this already this morning the current vigor is a bit too high, but we may have overdone the reduction. I was thinking about going back to 5s or 6s on Vigorous Recovery, and going back to 10s or 12s on Bountiful Theft.
Could you please elaborate on why Thief, one of the flimsiest, if not the flimsiest class can’t have access to high Vigor uptime, but Vigorous Precision and Critical Infusion can grant basically permanent Vigor for 5 trait points for 2 other classes? Elementalist a little more understandable with 20 points (as of next patch) for Renewing Stamina, but that’s still 20 points opposed to 30 for the 2 Thief traits?
