Did they fix the water auto on staff?It used to not heal if it didnt hit anything and then it suddenly got to heal as long as it landed near you..Thats what 600+heal with hp every second?put regen in and this new trait and there you have it..A healer
Hey in advance..im not talking about viability cause thats relative to everything else or fun in playing (im assuimng you dont stay in water when you can use earth to peel or fight to add damage etc).Just saying those numbers are pretty high sustain and u got the spike heal as well.

Do you even know elmentalist ablities? Read on magnetic shield please. As a mesmer player, i find fresh air has condition removal for days. Actually, fresh air has more sustain than mesmer in general, with the tradeoff being stealth. Use terrain and your permanent vigor to evade the condition that you can’t clear.
I personally like blind, but you can go ahead and use water traitline like fresh air eles are doing now, or earth if you so want it. Although i do think those options are worse. Also, you actually don’t know that the build will have 11k hp, as you know nothing about the way stats will work.
Yes i know everything about any skill ele has or had and i would bet my left nut that this build is gonna be kitten like it is today.
Its called magnetic wave btw and is on a 25 sec cd.Its also your only condi removal in that build.Zerkers doesnt have hp as a secondary stat so the buff on vitality wont be as much as you think.I highly doubt you ll end above 15k maybe even 14k or less.
You should also consider that as a mesmer player you are used to plenty of oh kitten buttons that you dont even need to trait for plus your class mechanic.Not having them with ele will make you get hit more.Your hp will be less as well.’
You wont be able to kite that good…
You ll get near to burst with phoenix and then you ll wonder where is your op blink staff skill on a base 10 sec cd to get you off to high ground..Then when you inevitable die you ll start potitioning safer, keeping distance etc..But then you ll notice the weak autoattacks and that you arent doing much damage at all.
At that point you should propably realise..“whats the point” and run back at your mesmer and all the goodies it ll get
Lastly elem attunement self only version is still bad idea.It overpowers the already good sustain of selfish tank builds we are getting anyway with the new system on ele while doesnt fix the support..Is it so hard to see it?
Already explained why the current ele is an “all in one package” build the removal of which won’t cause the ele to disappear, on the contrary it’ll allow the creation of a base for future beneficial changes
Also said that fresh offers something different respect to thief, mesmer or some other burst spec, if people think that fresh air ele should be taken only if it’s better than the rest..well sorry that will never happen guys and already explained why fresh air won’t overtake other burst specs, but now it’ll be a viable option, people should convince themselves of this, no other way around

All the ele innate support (which untraited isnt that good anyway ) becomes irrelevant when its gonna be compared with skills like shadow refuge, portal,moa etc
I just dont see it man .. im not really active or competitive with the game and i probably gonna play when xpac comes and tempest for the fun of something new .
I just cant see how it will be viable in any way based on what they announced so far.

From a game design standpoint, Anet is doing the right thing by not allowing evasive arcana and elemental attunement at the same time. I do not care how much you guys say that “ele needs it”- they don’t. Period. They need Alternatives. And hopefully they will add just that. I do think, however that diamond skin and stone heart are badly designed traits, diamond skin at the very least. These (and other lines’ GMs) could probably be changed to something more fitting.
I will personally probably run 6/6/0/0/6 fresh air s/f with
Burning precision- pyromancer’s training – blinding ashes
One with air (lol that buff)- X (not sure yet) – Fresh air
Renewing Stamina- Elemental contingency (probably) – Elemental attunementSince fresh air builds crit so often this provides blinds every 3- 4 seconds and super speed approaching 50% uptime in a fight (due to fresh air).
No condi clear,no heal,11k hp ,too much protection when you should really be afraid of condies (not only the damaging ones) in exchange of a single target blind that you cant control here and there every 4 sec.
You can run something similar right now but with the actuall opness that is evasive arcana and elem attunement together so you have some condi clear and extra heal every 10 sec and more damage due to the damage modifiers in air.
Try it and tell me how it goes,and IF it didnt go that well tell me how an extra 2 fire traits/quickness for the loss of damage and evasive arcana will make it better
The fact that every ele is playing the same traits since the dawn of time up to the competitive level makes me thing that not being able to go fire and air together is not an l2p issue..that or all eles ever tried this game sucked
Maybe an extra fire aura and some protection from direct damage in earth will fix the melting to burst and to conditions..or maybe tempest will bring stealth.
By contrast right now, an ele can keep perma protection up and that’s far far less skill intensive.
true but i still think being aware enough to save the lives of your teammates with that protection is far more skillfull that having to take the binary choice

Well first of all i dont think powerfull aura is that good support even if they buff it cause it ll lack condi clear but i reserve that after i see whether or not you ll be able to stack infinite amounts of frost auras through ice fields,sharing and water adept
Second of all and most important.Just because they nerf the viable choice that doesnt mean they free eles from arcana dependance. Or you consider everything sucking on equal footing means everything is balanced..too bad there are more classes than ele in this game and those wont suck 
All the other improvements par aurashare in all the other trait that are worth mentioning in my eyes are upgrades in self sustain for taking away arcana from ele..If the current dd cant keep up with the meta when his sustain is shareable why do you think the new dd with non shareable sustain will have any chance being taken?
Also i should mention im talking about dagger/dagger only here..Although i still dont see how fresh air is gonna be good enough to be taken either and of course i have no clue what tempest will bring.

When i said i really don’t want a selfish elemental attunement i meant that it is just another thing that increases self sustain while does nothing for the group even if there will be a gm trait that makes it shared.And with stoneheart and an earth,water,arcana build we will have enough sustain already.
I strongly disagree with the removal of EA/EvA combo as well as most people here cause it kills support and pure tanks are not welcome in this mode.Basically d/d will be killed off as a team role even if it can survive indefinately in 1vs1 the way i see it.It cant even decap and takes too long to kill especially after the next in line nerfs to the amulet and probably to burning (when not used in burn stacking build)
Plus there is absolutely no fun playing tanky builds unless there is a skill cap that comes from supporting allies else its boredom and very little room for imporovement.
Basically the only reason i ever thought d/d wasnt brainless was that..without that it is truly brainless and probably not effective enough
Burning that ticks for 4k on a short duration caused by a series of abilities that need to be set and succesfully land doesnt fall into the same category as what conditions are now
This isn’t some op dhumfire dot on a passive proc..this is called “burst” as far as i know.
So relax a bit..hes not gonna perma burn you for 4k just as a thief cant backstab every second

I feel the new burning will have a very big impact on the game .It will shake a lot of 1vs1s and teamfights right now and i think there is nothing they can do ,by balancing the stacks skills apply that would prevent that.
Its one of the things i am really afraid about elementalist as well.
If skills cause aoe burning they ll have to keep the stacks very low to balance for tfs..
If that happens 1v1s across the board for ele will drop massively right as the hit to support comes .. fun times!

Its always the same thing with this game..A class can be super op in the sense that it is irreplaceable to every team but everybody will say nothing for years .

Selfish elemental attunement will just bring more tears and wont do kitten for the support part.You ll have an “unkillable” ele again that all solo players,wvw players,hot join heroes cry all day while teams couldnt care less about replacing it when the nerfs inevitably come cause there are better options in tfs.

After thinking it for a bit i see a straight nerf for ele.
Thing is that even without the power creep from all the other classes(seriously its insane what some got) there iss also the burning rebalancing!!!!
Right now you put a ring of fire and if you are lucky you are burning the enemy for 5 or even 10 sec for 400-600 depending on might stacks with your standard build.
Well good luck if you think ring of fire will give anything but 1 stack of burning for same duration only now for half or 1/3 the damage.
Do the same with drakes breath and all other skills and see how fun it gets
My point is that burning is a very important part of eles output damage.
Burning is very strong in 1vs1s but doesnt scale that well in bigger fights.
Burning gets the ability to scale →burning lose the ability to be good in 1vs1s or else it scales too good in tfs
→ Ele loses a part of his total burning damage so he doesnt scale insanely well in tfs.
Sure that is for all classes but eles burning is also mostly AOE which means that they are kind of forced to limit the stacks abilities give.
Engies ip for an example can give 3 stacks of burning cause its 1 target.
Ring of fire cant etc..
TLDR : I believe burning rebalancing will be heavily against elementalist which will affect the 1vs1 capabilities of the class which paired with less support or rather too focused support (either auras/prot or cleansing and heal) will make the class weak overall.
That is so good actually for support..But how would that even work.If i blast an ice field do i give them 2 times the frost aura if i get it also ? 1 from blast and 1 cause i got the aura from blast and then shared it.
What if i blast the field twice or 3 times which is pretty easy tbh?? LOL
And what if i get the arcane faster rezz trait and get a guy up from downstate while im on earth? Do i give them 8 sec of protection and a 10 sec lasting magnetic aura(5 by the rezz trait and another 5 cause i got the aura myself and shared it with everybody near me)??
This seems good even without investing in air for fury and swiftness!
You lose condi clear though but it depends on where the meta goes..you can still run around with 2 cond cleanses and ether renewal/rock solid for yourself
And 10 sec icd on that??IMPOSSIBLE it will definately change to something like 20+ but then you ll lose massive regen.. Iwish the regen trait in water wasnt tied to something that powerfull

Also, they did say that Soothing Ice will have lower duration.

Are they absolutely worthess? NoAnd on Soothing Ice, I can’t stress enough how broken it would be to give a player a Frost Aura every 10s, no matter the duration. This is potentially an AoE Frost Aura + 3s Protection + 5s Fury + 5s Swiftness, every 10s. Any sort of Aura effect with that low of an ICD like this would be way too strong.
Wait ?!? do they change aura share to proc through auras that arent applied through weapon skills?? How else will you be able to share that aura from soothing ice?
If they do change aura share like that.. that would be broken :O

You sure its not due to some lag? I cant play the game this time but i had it even happen at the start sometimes nad it was all due to lag.Usually in spvp it worked when it happened to me and only got it in pve and wvw

I thought warriors were the epitome of boredom till i watched the pov of Rom playing one for example .All classes can be fun to watch as long as the people playing them can use them to almost full potential. Every class gives opportunities of clutch plays.
Gw2 pvp community is just really small and not serious at all (by other games standards) and so this game’s potential will always be unfullfilled.

It is interesting but so is stoneheart,fresh air and many other traits that you usually dont pick in pvp for many reasons that people complain about since the beggining
Funny thing is that the glyph was like that all the time.Just you not having any control of the skills made you not counting on them at all.. so you didnt really mind that they were so unreliable.Like the healing from water ele.Pls tell me a god that could use that skill consistently??! Most of the times i were “Heal me you kittening piece of kitten” and nothing would happen.
Now that you know when this skills will happen you can witness by yourself how unreliable they are..Thats the only change! Casting time isnt that long imo and its not what makes the feel of the skills bad. still think its kind of a buff though

The way I’m seeing it, enjoy lightning rod while you can, it’s going to get nerfed. The potential for bursts is really high and people will cry about being melted by Eles almost instantly. Lightning Hammer and Tornado make lightning rod deadly. Static Field + Gust will also be dangerous.
We’ll see an internal cooldown or gutted damage in a month or two max.
Lol, it doesn’t deal THAT much damage geez. The only way a Staff Ele would kill someone is in a combo where he goes, Static Field -> gust -> Lava Font -> Unteady Ground. And that’s a hard combo to pull off if your enemy can dodge.
Well it still is a bit of help when it comes to doing damage with staff to a target in small scale battles. Fresh air unfortunately doesnt help staff at all in that area so lightning rod might be an alternative if you really wanna go that route
Imagine though how fun would this trait be if it was like that before they removed the extra power from tornado.. Meteornado on point and you tossing people doing crazy amounts of damage. kitten they are awful when dealing with balance..but not that stupid apparently

Too bad he is right.. I t doesn matter if its 2 keys or 200 keys if they are gonna be the same order each time and be used without actually reacting or caring to how your enemy (ai/player) respond to it..
Every half decent ele knows that to keep the dps up you need to constantly swap(unless pve staff) which makes using key skills the right time very hard..which then leads most ele players to spam and waste cds left and right knowing that there are more than 10 sec before they can get there again anyway.
Honestly after you get over it..seeing elementalist players feels like watching a horror film of poor cd use and cds preservation
There are far more intriguing playstyles in games these days that can revolve around far less skills that allow you to react..
If you dont believe me then try to think..how come the class with the most skills is actually the most predictable (par fresh air) right now?

Tried it a long time (but after staff buffs )ago briefly with a bunker build for the fast decaps.
Worked fairly "ok "for soloq in top 100-150 at that time but it was obvious it got carried by staff and lightning hammer was a no factor expect a few occasionally clutch times
Tried it also with an offencivegeared setup with stoneheart as well and generally defencive traits in an attempt to raise the dps of celestial or generally hybrid builds.
Again the hammer was way to clucnky and the dps increase was minimal
The reason was that it had to be used only in small fights were stayin in melee range is affordabe and against slower opponents since the casting times on its skills means that you will get kited and generally have your damage avoided.
Might be worth with the new lighting rod but even if we assume that you land all your cc does it really justify compromising your ranged potition to use it? Is even the damage at maximum comparable to lighting strikes and fresh air if we take the huge cooldonws into consideration?
Is the extra damage you get from losing range worth the extra damage you lose due to weakness application here and then?
Plus all the other options teamwise you have in water are so much better.
But otherwise is a combo that ID LOVE to play.It makes you feel you can do anything.
They need to reduce the aftercasts asap.. or give us a way to cancel part of it (

They should bump up the Protection to 5 seconds to make it in line with Elemental Attunement, at the very least. Then make it AoE. Then it’d be a decent trait.
Its stupid how pigeonholed to arcana is elementalist cause of the protection boon..
At least you do get some easy weakness with glyphs and air line either with new ligthning rod?! or with fresh air and proccing 5 minor in arcana.
Its even worse when it comes to cleansing and water… Oh you want to play without water??? enjoy almost zero efficient cleansing plus lowest health in game and no sustain. GG… Thats why the new traits will never work..you pretty much either need to go deep in water OR you need fresh air in small scale pvp OR you need maximum range..but lets get real this isnt happening in spvp with thieves/gs mesmer etc.
And then you have kitten like elem attunement and evasive arcana further making any kind of choice seem completely superficial
IIRC they didn’t change the minimum you could make the attunement recharge just the maximum it sat at at default. So the recharge at 6 now is the same as it used to be at 30. The difference is where it is at down the line.
Okay so if it was 9s (not sure why I remember 8.5 for some reason, maybe a boon or something) then every 5 (equivalent to 1 point now) points was exactly 1s off the recharge time, now it’s every 2 points (equivalent to 10 then) is 1s off the recharge time.
It’s not as big of a deal anymore. Being specced 2 in arcane now is like being specced 20 in arcane before as far as recharge goes.
Im pretty sure it has been and still is at minimum 10sec.You calculate it wrong cause you mistake max recharge at 15 sec when its 16. If timer shows 15 then it means you are in the inside the 15-16 sec and have 15 more to go .Same if it shows 10 sec
It used to be a bit lower as well as the global cooldown but then it got changed after the first or second beta to be individual cd16 and gcd at 2 sec
Then agian in alpha it used to be something like 5 sec ..lol
I love the fact that these skills are NOT ground targetted.
They’re not meant to work as all of the other skills.They’re meant as opportunity shots. The best thing about these skills is that you don’t need to be looking at the enemy to cast them.
Switching them to ground targeted skills would be a SERIOUS nerf to eles.It doesn’t lower the skill cap because you need to set these skills up: if you don’t the skill just doesn’t work.

Maybe im not too itnerested into wvw comabt and i think hitting things outside los is exploiting but if they were aoe you would still be able to aim the behind you without having to turn and reduce your speed just like every aoe

So S/F requires less skill when it’s far more punishing of any mistake? If you play D/D right you’ll rarely die.

I never said it was too hard for me to play. I just personally dislike the playstyle and I dislike the fact that the meta for a class can be so one dimensional on its usage. If anything its too easy for me to play. I don’t get the satisfaction from playing it like I do with fresh air builds. I’m just personally miffed because I join games and people tell me to respec to DD instead of the proven effective builds like S/F that I like to play, just because they think have a DD ele will help them win. And I get flamed when I refuse to switch, yet I still carry their kitten full glass.
Does that sound like a healthy metagame to you? It doesn’t to me. And I admit I was being dramatic when I said DD can rot. But yeah I’m biased towards my opinions, but that doesn’t mean my concerns are any less credible.
And let me guess you think s/f is considered skilled gameplay for you? Instant air burst with no tells that requires the press of a button,all done from range,fire and forget daze,only 1 targeted spell,overbudgeted spells that “pro” eles like to spam on cd on their streams without second thought..When i see the d/d skillset 1dimensional is the last word that comes to my mind..

no more ground targeting, I hate it because it stops me from getting into the atunement dancing. If I could I’d hide this post I don’t want more skills to be ground targetted. Arcane Wave becoming a ground target spell has already ruined the skill for me.
If you prefer ground targetting just use staff don’t change the other weaponsets.

So because you cant handle 1 more variable when usning 2 skills the rest of us will stay with crap.Those skills even with the delay they have.. could be so much more than what they are now if only you could lead the target when using them. I cant be more certain when im saying that id witness a huge increase in how many DTs i land if i could chill a target and then throw it at the direction he is heading instead of the location he is at that moment. Seriosuly with 10 sec cd plust the mobility of the whole skillset and n3 potentially doing crazy numbers paired with a timed backwards lightning flash or faced against a wall.. it ll be the best choice for s/f ele
In pvp scenarios you rarely if ever used number 4 BROKEN dps unless you abused it for killing neutrals or gates/lord. Now i ll be really really kittened if some random bunker guard picks my second little flaming beauty from the ground
Btw glyph did 25 inuln on stationary big golem that sat there for whole duration plus we dont know weather that build had 5 minor in air etc.I dont think it ll be worth it in real pvp scenarios.
And whats that about a 6k glyph aoe heal on demand every 25 sec?? Lol.. then again mesmer is getting a ticket to god mode so anything should be expected

This is probably not going to be the most loved potential solution but it would help the issue a ton: (note: I am not exactly saying this is the only solution nor am I saying that it is the most optimal, I am only providing potential things to look at for future reference)
Instead of making might a huge intensity stack of 35 pwr and condi dmg per stack, just change it to a 150 pwr and condi dmg buff with a duration stack. It is enough to give a significant buff without making it so strong you can get all your dmg off of it. Voila, might stacking issue solved.PvP only? Or game wide? Because we’ve seen people suggest things like this before and ANet never seems to take them seriously.
Like just limiting might to 4 stacks. Poison duration to 20 seconds. etc etc.
I wonder why ANet doesn’t do things like that more often. That way the gameplay doesn’t change, only the damage is reigned in for PvP some.
Lol..how could thy ever take something like that seriously..Making might stack in duration would destroy all fire fields,would essentially just give free PERMANENT points to every class,make every class that has its damage balanced around stacking might underpowered,every class that has meta builds that dont stack a lot of might overpowered..and finaly it would completely destroy several traits that are based around stacking might inculding grandmaster that require huge investment.
So yeah..maybe thats why they never listen to that kind of ideas.

Plus many classes have access to reflects and projectile defence and a lot that is.Dont think meta wont adjust to that.People will start bringing those skills and traits if it helps them against the new zerker meta class.And then people will stop bringing longbow rangers again.The sweet circle of meta :P
So many people fail to realise that building defencively and going down slower doesnt mean the build requires less skill by default..
A d/d ele has to make use of this tankiness he has and use his resources for his teammates. Heal and cleanse to save others,then burst to pressure and cc to peel for others.
A zerker ele or an elementalist with “damage modifier traits” (i can only imagine what silly builds wvwers use to make fancy videos) cant do anything of that.
Point is that next time you play celestial d/d ele and you think its easy to play cause its easy to survive ..THINK
Are you actually doing everything the build allows you to do at that situation? Cause someone else will do and his team will have clearly the advantage .
If you still keep thinking in terms of isolated 1vs1 or in terms of selfish survivng or doing simple burst/sustian damage then you are far away from the skill cap of this class.Ele has insane innate support and zerker(or selfishly made) builds make that harder/impossible to use since you worry too much for your own survival
If you dont think like that then of course d/d and EVERYTHING in this game is easy..so kittening easy.
Then everything with stacked defence is easy..right? just cause will be harder for a toddler to die with it..
Example: eles sustain too much with water attunement.Water heals are all aoe. Good ele doesnt need water cleanses/heal hat much for himself and uses it for his fellow mesmer.Bad ele due to failing to mitigate damage uses water for selfish reasons only.The second pair loses miserably the 2vs2.

feline grace=the more you spam dodge the more endurance regen rate you gain>30 sec arcane skills,burstskills,toolbelt skills..
Yep cause 3 dodges every 5 sec is too little..lol every dodge is a sec of invulnerability.
Add to that that opponent has skills with casting time which he does no damage while casting(no need to dodge then) plus your ports which are countless and the abuse of los..
Define sustain pls..Cause yeah thief cant stand still and soak damage.He has all the tools to avoid it and more.The "more " is the problem.Something needs to go.Not much be it a steal nerf,los on port,some reduce on dodging (not much),damage,landspeed..Whatever those who “balance” choose to take away

I came here to say that your tears dropping into my beer make it more cold and delicious than any ice.
If you struggle because you can be actually hit outside of Blind/Evade/Stealth spam, maybe that’s the time to become a man, switch something instead going full zerk/full burst damage, take some hits and make our game more healthy and diverse.

When thief 1vs1s worse than a shatter mesmer then it might ??! be balanced..but im not sure.
When a class can ignore position by bypassing los restrictions ,sustain while burning multiple cooldowns and defences of the enemy,have the best mobility in game by far,has access to stealth for whole team which cant be breaked (lol) and does a kitten tone of single/aoe damage and plenty reduce healing access /instant control of boons and disables (i can go on and on actually !)…something got to be wrong
If something that strong in its role that restricted that big portion of build diversity was in another game /another company like riot
you thief players would be trash tier now after a handfull of repeated hot fixes.Thief might also had been disabled from ranked paly till the issue is resolved :P

It gets refreshed a second time after the application caused by bulls charge and while you are using hundred blades without removing the buff icon from your screen.Thats what phanta is talking about probably
I never cancel my skills really. I am sure there is a tiny tiny difference. But the extra you gain from this is probably lost by having that extra keybind on twitch

Only maybe a sec worth of downtime on each atuoattack ,or double healing rate by autoattacking ,or avoiding losing high casting time skills to blinds/blocks/immunities/los..
Its definately something someone that claims to be at the top should definately afford to skip learning

3 stats amulets = 2208 points.
4 stats amulets = 2340 points.
celestial amulets = 3038 points.
-> Celestial is OP.
Or…
-> Others amulets are UP.
Im not gonna talk about celestial being op or anything but your logic is flawed.
The amulet that doesnt specialise will always have to have more overall stats or it will be useless .
