Did you also complete all the other prerequisites? The Monthly Achievement also requires you to participate and complete all the other entries like WvW, events etc.

I doubt that Anrothan. It’s just a skin you apply to a weapon which will become soulbound (if it wasn’t already).

A question… Does one actually need tons of gold in this game?

At present time I’m running around in full exotic gear and have 25g in my bank with nothing to spend it on really.

So I could care less about the select few that have hundreds of gold, as there’s basically nothing worth buying in my humble opinion

I did notice a pretty significant shift in the Gold→Gems though. As I recall there was a time not too long ago where 25s got you 100 gems. Now it seems you need to pay 84s for 100 gems. Not that there’s anything worth buying in the shop anyway, but it is a little unnerving to see such differences.

Is there any noticable hit to performance when running a graphics enhancer like this SweetFXAA?

So we have 6 regular types of tools and 2 ‘odd ducks’.

And then there’s the Black Lion and Master versions.

Hmmm… Guess they could go White, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red (and Purple?). Not sure if Black Lion allows the gathering of all nodes as the tooltip is pretty hazy on that and the Master is a bit of an oddity as some can mine as Orichalcum where others can only mine as if they were only Steel.

At any rate, ArenaNet could theoretically apply their rarity-spectrum and apply the colors to the name. But then you’d still need to hover over the icons in order to find the right one.

There is an issue with the back ‘wall’ on some of the tents. Apparently this isssue is not present on all of them, which leads me to assume that you are using different model entries where one has the issue.

As you can see from the screenshots, when looking into the tent you can see the back being covered by a piece of canvas. Yet when looking at it from the back, you see straight through as if there is no back piece.

I first noticed this with the tents on the hill just south of the Shatterer event. However, some tents in Frostgorge also seem to have this issue.

I’ve been running around with a Spirit Weapon Guardian and I am having a lot of fun with it in PvE. For WvW I tend to swap some stuff around so I am more into shouts and Wall of Reflection there though.

When doing dungeons it depends on the boss. For instance Lt.Kohler in AC is not really impressed by spirit weapons, so I have to change my loadout to include abilities to avoid his pull. But bosses for without instakill gimmicks I can just let my spirit weapons bash away.

As to my build… I’m guessing it’s a bit unconventional as I try to squeeze something of everything in. That’s just how I (dodge)roll.

So here’s the traits loadout:
30 Zeal: V – X – XII
10 Valor: VI
20 Honor: II – IX
10 Virtues: V

For gear:
Full Cleric set with Dolyak runes
AC Greatsword Power-Toughness-Vitality and Water signet
Scepter/Focus (no clue what I slapped on there)
Staff (situational uses only)
Knight’s amulet
Valkyrie rings + earrings
Soldier backpack with a Soldier ‘mark’(?)

Should have about 17k health with 2850 armor and 500+ healing power. Crit may be a bit on the low side for you crit-monkeys who drool over big numbers (j/k), but it feels that I crit often enough for Vigorous Precision to activate on a steady basis. And I’m not really in it for the big hits. :P

Overall it’s a pretty mobile setup that has me kiting and dodgerolling a little here and there after ‘up close and personal’ encounters. I seem to hold my own pretty well against groups of mobs as well as bosses/champions and love the passive regeneration from the Dolyak runes and the active healing from the Greatsword. 25 health may not look like much, but it really adds up if your mowing your lawn through a pack of mobs.

I’m running with the Hammer and Sword; combined with ‘Stand Your Ground’ as my cc-breaker. My heal skill is the Signet of Resolve and my Elite is … the Mistfire Wolf!!!

You can’t be a proper Spirit Guardian without your trusty spirit wolf (and her cubs) in my opinion

Add player housing to the main cities and you will see a very high increase in traffic. Add shops that sell (themed) furniture items to the main cities (and LA) and you will see even more traffic.

Then you can have a real home in your ‘Home Instance’ with lots of interior decoration options (including HoM style displays for minis etc) and invite friends over to show off your cool home.

I’d definitely support a mainhand pistol for Mesmers; especially considering the mediocre number of choices available at present time. The pistol would fit in perfectly and would allow for a ‘duelist’ playstyle that could focus more on ranged power instead of conditions.

Also, it seems that at some point in time ArenaNet may have thought about implementing it as players can craft 2 named illusionary pistols: Lyss and Ilya.

Definitely supported, even though my Spirit Weapons are not destroyed upon command I’d still like to see how much time remains before they vanish.

I feel the same way Aria, and I seriously hope that ArenaNet is in the process of providing a physical authenticator in the very near future.

Item: Ghastly Greatsword

Issue: Small chunks of stationary texture visible near the crossguard on the ghostly version

I also noticed that the Ghastly Axe has the same issue, whereas none of the other weapons seem to have these wierd flat texture-chunks.

Reason I post this as a bug instead of an intended feature is the way it looks like bits of one-dimensional texture instead of actual three-dimensional chunks.

Maybe i know how to solve this problem. What i did is: I changed my audio device in-game from default to my VIA HD audio chip. And i change the sound quality from high to the middle. So far i didnt hear the buzz. It’s a bit short to be sure if this works. But so far it worked for me!
Give it a try i’d say!!

Hmmm, I also did not have any issues since my previous encounter. Checking up on my audio menu it seems that at some point I set the Sound Quality from the highest setting to the middle.

So it may be entirely possible that setting the Sound Quality to Highest Quality may cause this bug to happen.

At any rate, I have no issues at all anymore ever since I put the slider in the middle. Heck, I couldn’t even hear any improvement anyway :P

Why would you report them for exploiting? I fail to see how it’s an exploit. If the ads drop better things than the chest then why not do it? Most people is actually killing the dragon for loots, not to feel cool because you took down a giant lizard.

They don’t, just the small chance to drop something more valuable like any other mob in the zone. But people entice others to ignore the boss so they can farm the adds and make claims that they got Dusk or some other precursor from farming them.

Now don’t get me wrong here, I have no issue with some people staying behind to clean up to adds that are being spawned by the boss. I do have an issue with people spamming the chat about not to attack the dragon so they can farm adds endlessly, and then -out of spite- not helping out during the last phase and making rude comments (generally trolling the chat).

So that’s why I am reporting such individuals. And I didn’t just report them for exploiting. I reported them for exploiting, griefing, spamming and insulting other members of the community.

Make screenshots and report them for exploiting; that’s what I did.

Try fighting the Claw of Jormag when a bunch of people constantly tell people not to attack the dragon so they can farm the elementals. And then spamming chat that they are going afk, hoping it will take us a long time to kill the dragon just out of spite for not following their decree to ’Don’t attack the dragon so we can farm elementals!’ and generally making derogatory/rude remarks.

And then they really do nothing during the last phase except run over to loot the chest when we finally manage to kill him after 50 minutes!

So what should have been a cool event in theory is destroyed when ‘farmers’ are around that offer no assistance whatsoever and actively (and vocally) abuse the mechanics of the fight just to spite the ones that want to play the event as intended in my humble opinion.

While I do agree that “Retreat” gives the impression of having been defeated. Maybe something like “Fall back!” would have been preferable?

Or my personal favorite: Run away! Run away!!

Just out of curiosity, but why not set a max price for items? That way someone selling it can’t simply hoard the items and sell them at ridiculous rates. They’d have to sell them at the max allowed price.

This might sound very unfavorable to some, but it would give ANet some control back on the market.

Especially concerning precursors. At one point I think I saw them for 50g or something, and now they are being offered for 320+

Story Mode dungeons should be about story in my opinion. These dungeons should have been more for a group of random people of the stated minimum level to go in and enjoy them.

So to me I would have liked them to be more in tune of DE’s regarding difficulty where the focus would be more about following the story of Destiny’s Edge and having fun (but not extremely difficult) encounters along the way.

As such, the damage dealt by mobs should be reduced significantly. The same goes for their insane amounts of health. Just my opinion, but somewhere the premise and initial concept of the Story Mode dungeons seems to have gotten lost.

I still think they disabled the door intentionally though, supposedly because of some imbalance they may believe in need of fixing. I can only assume it has something to do with the free siege equipment.

At any rate, I’m really hoping they will get it fixed soon. I have 3 complete sets of keys and those 3 puzzles are the only ones I still need on my achievement list.

Would have been nice if Renewed Focus would also remove all current conditions on you when activated though…

1. Leap into a giant pack of enemies with Stand Your Ground and Save Yourselves active.
2. Pull in even more with GS#5.
3. Drop a Wall of Reflection because it makes rangers just stare at it like a monkey and do nothing for 10 seconds (or shoot themselves in the face which is even more hilarious).
4. Start your whirlwind of ultimate lawnmowing and watch them all flee in terror.
5. Dodge-roll backwards from the Wall of Reflection to get extra points for style.

No, the imbalance might come when big WvW guilds go there with one holding the door open for everyone as I believe you only need the key to open the door, not the chest.

So that’s why I suspect ANet disabled the door until they implement a fix so everyone either needs their key to open the door and the chest; or change the contents of the chest to no longer include siege schematice.

Clipping and texture issues with the Draconic (crafted 400 exotic) armor.

1. The lower portion of the legs clip through the boots at the ankles on both sides.
2. The texture of the scales on the legs is lower resolution compared to the scales on the chest.

Virtue of Courage is something I treat like another “Retreat!” if you will. I usually save it for Lt. Kholer’s pull in AC for example. When you absolutely need to block that hit, it’s a good way to go about it.

Sidetrack: How’s that working out for you? I’ve been under the impression that Aegis will prevent one hit of many, and the remaining damage would still kill squishies.

You use Aegis not to avoid his spin-cycle, but to prevent him from pulling you in the first place. So activating it when he starts up his pull-animation, you basically block his little fishing line just like you would by using dodge, stability, Wall of Reflection etc.

Could it be posssible that the door was locked on purpose by ANet? The way I see it, the vaults granted easy access to free siege equipment every day.

And according to the 07/10 patch notes:

Numerous items have been disabled for use in World versus World to prevent exploits and imbalances. This includes the Experimental Teleportation Gun, ettin gunk, drake eggs, seed turrets, and more.

To me, getting free siege equipment every day sounds like an imbalance to me

If this is the case they might be working on a fix so the chest will no longer provide free siege schematics every day.

Quick solution: add a bank tab to Deposit/Withdraw Karma?

I still get one every day it seems… At least it’s an improvement over the 2-3 I got every day. Chat seems to have been cleaned up though as I don’t recall seeing the gold-spam there anymore.

A friend of mine suddenly had wierd issues today when entering Death Shroud on his Necromancer.

Testing things it turned out to be an issue being caused by using a full set of Superior Rune of Vampirism.

When you enter DS and it flips to your life force, the rune may think you went below 10% health and transforms you into mist which locks you out of your abilities for 3 seconds.

He kept getting lockouts all the time (especially when getting hit while in DS), but when he used only 5 runes from the set (by removing a piece of gear) he had no issues at all anymore and everything functioned normally again.

So it seems that there is a bug when having a full set of Superior Rune of Vampirism on your gear as a Necromancer and turning into DS.

He didn’t seem to have any issues before that, but all of a sudden it started behaving very erratic and he also described these locks and flips and also getting knocked out of DS when he was hit.

Are you trying to say that lvl 80 are all of a sudden going to care about low lvl content just so they can grief people? I wish they would, maybe then the world wouldnt feel completely empty…

And you know why they aren’t around? Because they can’t grief others due to the scaling.

Ever consider asking friends or guildmates to hang out with you?

When I bring my level 80 to a lvl1-15 zone, I already feel like a demigod at times. So to me it does not need to become even easier.

If they would allow you to go to a zone without being scaled down, imagine the griefers who just plow through your mobs for ‘fun’ or kill off that worldboss in one hit before you can reach it.

Scaling everyone down in lower level areas has probably been one of the best things I have ever seen in an MMO.

I’d like to see Symbol of Wrath being placed back to a 10s cd. If the retaliation aspect was the main point of concern, ANet could replace it with Might. That way it synergizes perfectly with the #1 ability without running the risk of becoming overpowered.

Also, as their apparent plan is to make Retaliation more into a situational tool to use only during specific bursts instead of it being up 100% of the time; it might be an idea to revise it from duration as it is now into stacks.

That way ANet could key Retaliation to certain utility skills and/or F-keys only, where traits could then be used to increase the number of stacks upon activation. As the maximum number of stacks is 25, it could be potentially easier to manage in terms of balance and could provide players that wish to make a ‘Retaliation build’ the means to use traits in order to increase Retaliation stacks when activating certain abilities.

This would also remove the need to increase the cooldown on our Symbol of Wrath as it is no longer part of the equation and set it back to skill#2 where it will once again provide a better synergy during combat.

The way I see it, the flow with how a greatsword could be used has been severely diminished at present time with this change. Before the patch it felt like a very nicely balanced weapon that allowed a pretty fluid style of combat where your abilities could blend into eachother. After the patch however, combat with a greatsword suddenly felt pretty clunky and unresponsive from my perspective…

So personally I am hoping that ANet will see and agree that changing the cd on Symbol of Wrath may have done more harm than intended and will take the proposed suggestions under consideration. To me, changing it back to 10s whilst replacing Retaliation with Might would be a very elegant solution.

If your main concern is survivability, I guess Soldier (Power/Toughness/Vitality) is the way to go. Getting yourself up to 3000+ armor and a ton of health would make you as survivable as possible against hits and conditions.

However, it may not be very effective as you’d probably hit like a wet noodle. So in the end you will go down as you don’t have the dps to kill your target and simply prolong the fight.

It seems that some people have made some calculations as to the ‘best bang for buck’ set which consisted of the following:

Full Knight’s armor (with full Divinity or Scholar runes)
Beryl (Valkyrie) Jewelry and 1 Emerald earring with a Beryl Jewel

Haven’t tested this myself as I’m currently running a full Cleric set; but according to certain calculations found on the wiki they claim that it gives you the best balance between defense and offense.

In all honesty the fact that a lot of complaints are stemming from the fact that great sword has lost support ability’s. Honestly my take on the great sword is that you are self reliant and don’t really provide anything to the party apart from self healing and dps or am I looking at it wrong

I think you might want to check the greatsword abilities and a Guardian’s traits. Especially the ones that revolve around their symbol or applying Vulnerability on Blind etc.

You’d be surprised how much support they can provide with a greatsword when the boss focuses his big attack on you but misses because a Guardian did a leap of faith and blinded the boss or put down that Symbol to give everyone in it Retaliation (+ additional effects with traits) or did a Whirling Wrath inside his symbol that sent out cleansing bolts to remove your poison stacks or pull a mob away as you were trying to get back up from your downed state.

Agreed. Commander icons should only become visible/active when in WvW.

Uhm, is Karra Ghosthammer actually in the game and selling these l35 weapons? If so, can someone verify her location ingame?

I ask this, because (contrary to the wiki) she was removed prior to launch and Historian Symon is the only person selling the weapons (the l80 ones) as far as I am aware.

Symbol of Wrath went from #2 to #4
Whirling Wrath went from #3 to #2
Leap of Faith went from #4 to #3

Guess ANet likes messing with people’s minds. So instead of leaping to a target by reflex, I now slam a symbol into the ground at useless spots.

In my opinion they should have kept the original cooldown, remove retaliation and increase the damage to compensate.
