As stated above, if you want to have the quiver just for the skin; I’d go for one of the cheaper materials (like the Ancient Bone).
I think I chose the most expensive material (Powerful Blood) as I wanted the ‘Berserker’ version with Pow/Pre/Crit. But for me it was worth it as it makes my LB/SB Ranger look complete.
The Lover is the shortbow version? Ouch…
Ah well, at least now I have a name to the shortbow. Maybe the ‘Wings of Dwayna’ could be an intended reference to a secret Dwayna related event with a ‘Large Chest’ that might contain the longbow. Or it might be a yet-to-be-discovered Mystic Forge recipe (Like Tear of Grenth and Melandru’s Gaze)
EDIT: Also noticed another reference to a bow supposedly having the same skin as The Lover: Feathers of Dwayna

I noticed this bow being used by a Skill Challenge NPC and was wondering if this model is available to players. And if it’s possible to obtain it, does anyone know the name?

Yeah, didn’t you know? I went there on my ranger to act as an ambassador for Desolation. All I had to do was give them waterproof copies of Aquaman and in return they would primarily focus on Vizunah players.
But be warned! After Vizunah learned of this, they now avoid large bodies of water and chose to take to the skies instead.
So if you see any IFVs (Identified Flying Vizunah) during your travels, please be sure to record their trajectory. At least one Asura Ranger seemed to have eaten a bit too much birdseed and was spotted doing VTOL maneuvers at Shadaran Hills.
Habib, you have to admit that the situation in the picture below is pretty annoying. As such I really hope you guys can implement something better.

Has nothing to do with medieval at all. Its the archery stance taught in current schools today as well. She is leaning a bit too far back instead of standing up straight, but kittenes be crazy, we all know this. While I do think medieval archers were far superior in terms of skill than our current olympian archers, they both have the same form.
Main reason for me naming it ‘medieval archer’ was just as an example because the stance looked nearly identical to the one I saw on paintings and in drawings. Reason I didn’t say ‘olympian archer’ or ‘current stance’ was because in my opinion that’s just a mockery of archery nowadays with all their counterbalanced iron-sight click-a-button bows.
I agree however that even if the female seems to tip a little into the hips that stance would feel more comfortable, balanced and has the best potential to actually hit something as she can aim along the entire shaft. The male animation if performed by a real archer would result in having a very unbalanced and unfomfortable stance (‘bad form’) and leaning into the bow would mean that he probably wouldn’t be as accurate in firing it either. Hence my description of ‘fantasy ninja’ LOL.

Try using quickness next time. Or if you’re a Thief and don’t like the attention, hide in your stealth and do a quickness-stomp from there.
I never have these problems because I don’t stomp as it’s a pointless mechanic in my opinion when so many people have downstate abilities that either prevent a stomp or they become the ultimate troll with them (except Rangers and Guardians, they are sad pandas and can be stomed easy).
I just focus them down with attacks. And if someone runs in to rez his teammate, I give him a knockback and then pelt him with arrows/lightning/scimitars/orang-utans so there are 2 downed people trying to get up.
You get 50 crit damage normally. So if you have 100 crit damage on your hero panel then you actually do 250% damage on a critical hit.
If you are at 104 crit damage unbuffed then you probably have ruby orbs in all of your armor. You would be missing about 80 precision from not having the eagle runes like he has…which would be 4% crit chance.
Ah, so basically my 104% crit damage on the panel means I effectively do 254% damage on a critical hit? That makes more sense then. Thanks
Quick question… How did you manage to get 245% crit damage and 60% crit chance unbuffed? I am full Berserker (with Ascended quiver) 30-30-10-0-0 but am ‘only’ at 104% (204%?) crit damage and 56% crit chance unbuffed.
So I’m wondering how you managed to get an additional 41% crit damage and 4% crit chance.

As I recall there was some speculation that it may have been a chest from the last boss during the quest ‘Escort Warmaster Leddron’ in the Straits of Devastation.
Me and a guildmate found the start of the quest which was in a pretty remote area, but the quest was apparently bugged and the group we were supposed to escort didn’t move. They were all just standing at the entrance of some ruins that led to a couple of rooms.

Nah, I don’t think of myself as pro or anything. I’m just a little LB/SB Ranger that wants to have fun in WvW.
I saw Gesmo’s video and I probably wouldn’t last 7 seconds against him (because after 6 seconds my Signet of Stone would run out and my Spring can’t keep up with conditions)
and to AS thank god you’re no longer seen as VS’s weaker little sister.
Actually, I believe they were viewed as VS’s lapdog. Vizunah was viewed by many as the weaker little sister that was constantly whining about US guild this and PvDoor that if my memory serves me correctly.
But next time, please don’t run away if you are by yourself and encounter a lone Deso player. Don’t wait until you outnumber someone at least 3 to 1 before you attack.
Although I had fun keeping you guys entertained before finally running out of tricks, there is little honor to be had when a Warrior has to call in his Guardian and Thief friends because the ‘evil Desolation Ogre’ (a little glass cannon Ranger) was not impressed by your 100b.

Tracking would be awesome too. At least it gives Rangers something unique and effective. And as I remember from playing my Hunter in WoW it was nowhere near OP against the Rogue who was invisible all the time.
But we’ll never get it as a tracking ability would make a lot of (bandwagon) Thief players scream like the world was ending because they’d lose their godmode.
Yeah I only mention slight because mesmers got buffed 2 patches ago and Anet just nerfed them again. Better to buff slightly and see how it works then overbuff and then have to nerf right away. Warriors can feel your pain about obstructed arrows though. We also have to deal with the same issues of obstructed arrows. Trying to defend keeps/towers on the wall as a bow user is terrible. The lip of the wall causes everything to be obstructed so you have to get on tippy edge of the wall.
Agreed, and even without a lip of the wall to obstruct your shots arrows get obstructed randomly even when out in the open and having full LoS. And then we have our pet, that’s currently as useful as a blind man directing traffic on a freeway.
As such you can understand the ‘hostility’ when someone cries for a nerf on a minor ability like Guard. An ability that serves little to no purpose otherwise when so much of the Ranger’s arsenal is already severely limited in effectiveness.
Ah got ya, rangers should get buffed slightly IMO and then see where they stand.
Slightly is an understatement when it comes to buffing Rangers in my humble opinion; try complete overhaul (starting with pet AI and obstructed arrows).

My question was geniune, not sure why the hostility. I see so many rangers in WvW, if you are fighting a zerg of 50 you are also fighting a zerg of 30 ranger pets.
The first portion of my response was a genuine answer to your genuine question. The rest was me making a general response to the whiners (which may or may not have included you) who believe that everything they can’t do is OP and should be nerfed.
That is all.
If rangers are so bad, why is there a million of them in WvW? There must be some reason why all those people continue to play their rangers.
Maybe because I like the concept of the Ranger more than the concept of other classes, or that I mainly played one in WoW/GW1/EdenEternal, or that I like to play the underdog, or that I like to have a pet Raven flying next to me, or I like swapping between bows?
There’s more to a game than simply playing the FOTM roflpwn class you know.
Besides, for every single Ranger I see running around in WvW I ‘see’ at least 10 Thieves (and 99% of the time they are P/D+SB or D/D+SB).
So here people whine about a utility that actually makes the Ranger pet somewhat useful during a siege instead of completely useless but would only be able to kill people who are afking on a wall or sitting on siege while being completely oblivious to their surroundings.
It’s a minor annoyance at best, but knowing ANet they will immediately rush to your aid and serve nerf your every whim whine. /rollseyes
I like it, especially where the thief would be covered in mud!
And then Engineers should be able to make a thief appear with their glue shot, or have something like Mud/Flour Bomb or Motion Detection Golems

Because that is what you guys apparently want for WvW. A little arena where you can play whack-a-mole with eachother and where nobody has the advantage because everyone is the same.
And then those same people that cried for nerfs are going to whine that they’re bored with the game because there’s nothing interesting for them to do. Today’s generation of ‘gamers’ whine and cry for nerfs because they are too lazy to go get the same powers themselves.
Did you guys even get the flasks yourselves? Or were you just scouring the Wiki to find something to complain about because you saw someone with an unfamiliar buff and thought ‘I have to walk all the way there because WP costs so much money so I’m not going to bother’?
And on the 20 stacks of vulnerability. If a single person is focused by 25 people, that person is dead long before the first Skale Venom procs. Besides, my Ranger can just shoot you one time and suddenly you have 10+5+5=20 stacks of vulnerability. Guess Rangers have an unfair advantage too then if they can do what otherwise requires a coordinated 25-man raid to accomplish.
So please, stop with the wild claims and ‘what if’ scenarios. If it were up to me, I’d reinstate all those items. At least WvW would become a much more dynamic and interesting (AND FUN!) place where I have to dodge thrown cannonballs, laugh as my buddy launches himself off a cliff because he aimed that experimental gun in the wrong direction and have fun playing hide-and-seek with spy kits.
But I guess people don’t want to have fun anymore, they just want to kill people and brag about something they call ‘skill’ and ‘coordination’. A rampaging horde of bulls in a china-shop isn’t a measure by which to calculate skill, and that’s what WvW has turned into for most participants.
Please do not be offended if you feel my words as a personal attack; they were not intended as such. I know that my style of writing can be very direct and provocative at times, but it was just something I had to get off my chest as I fear for the future of Guild Wars 2 where it runs the risk of becoming stale, static and unfun.
They already stripped almost all interesting mechanics from WvW. Pretty soon we’ll be reduced to using a foam sword and cardboard armor with costume brawl skills in WvW if this keeps up.
My Guardian has a 20-slot bag full of fun items (cannonballs, seedturrets, teleportation guns etc) that I managed to stumble across whilst exploring but almost nothing can be used in WvW.
Isn’t it odd that they disabled their effects when the game could have been a lot more fun and give people a reason to scour the world of Tyria in order to obtain their supplies of tricks?
And now there’s this Skale Venom that applies minimal effects, doesn’t even work with some weapons, can be obtained easily by anyone etc. And people cry that it gives users an unfair advantage?
Why don’t you get your own batch. Maybe see some more of the world, hang out with the ‘Garbage Legion’ and be able to get some flasks for 16 copper each.
Why bother to explore when fun items you find can’t even be used properly? Guess we should all just hang out in Lion’s Arch whilst waiting for the Borderlands… Hmmm, sounds awfully familiar to another game where people were only hanging out in some floating city…

Otherwise I could complain that Warriors using a Rifle gives them an unfair advantage because my Guardian can’t use one.
A change in load-order priority and turning ‘model->nametag’ into ‘nametag->model’ should indeed be possible.
Players, even those with enough programming background to know what they’re talking about (actually, especially those people) usually assume the game is put together much more elegantly than it actually is. Some times the smallest things that seem simple and obvious to change aren’t nearly as simple and obvious because MMOs get incredibly messy under the hood over time.
Oh I can assure you that I know what I’m talking about, and I know how much of a mess things can become. In fact, when I was creating Mannimarco Revisited for TES4:Oblivion you wouldn’t believe how many things had to be tweaked in order to get the multi-stage scripts to function properly for most users.
However, I didn’t say it was easy or anything; just that a change in load-order priority should be possible.
