Highly Over Powered Explorers [HOPE] – Desolation EU
50 yes but not 20-30 plus 10-20 pugs. That leads to a 30-50. More near 50 than 30.
At some points we ran with 30, at other times we ran with 50 total.
Don’t worry, we didn’t bring our 300 angry mexicans this time
Trying versus against IRON…
How many are in your Raids?
On Kodash BL? They were about 20-30 with about 10-20 randoms
No way i don’t believe it. We were that much and we were still outnumbered (i mean only Nuke)
Believe it or not, but I’ve been running with them the entire evening and those were the numbers we were running with. So around 40-50 total at most
EDIT: Just asked on Alliance TS and when you guys hit us, we had around 40-50

Ye i want a white raven as well, but i gave up tbh. What annoys me the most tho is the ONLY decent shortbow skin in the game (i’m talking about the living shortbow ofc) is a hom reward only. I’d pay real money for that skin.
The best looking bows in the game are Wintersbark, Aether, Azureflame and Kudzu IMO.
I loved the Living Shortbow skin as it fit my Sylvari ranger perfectly and used it for a very long time! However, then I came across these:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bow_of_the_Pale_Stag
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bow_of_the_White_Hart
Based on the Ivory Bow from the original Guild Wars, I really loved the elegant beauty of their design. And because my Sylvari chose the White Stag in her storyline, the names of these two bows were like a match made in heaven for me.
But I’m derailing the topic here, my apologies…
As for the White Raven, I’m afraid you’re going to have to get Guild Wars with the Eye of the North (don’t worry they’re cheap), link it to your Guild Wars 2 account and read up on some guides on how to amass a lot of HoM points.
As I arrived very late on the scene I was only able to play Guild Wars for about a month in anticipation of the release of Guild Wars 2. However, in that brief period of time I was still able to get at least 11 points. Not nearly enough to get me any of the special pets, but it was still a pretty enjoyable experience (even when I only had Henchmen and Heroes).
However, getting 25 points will still take a decent amount of time and effort (because they were meant as rewards for dedicated fans of the original). I believe someone stated ~200 hours on average and I think it’s a good indication.
What I wouldn’t give for someone with a Guild Wars account willing to give me some armor tokens, rare minis or weapons in order to boost my points to 25.
We’re probably going to see an expansion pack worth of content nerfs.
A little birdie also told me they’re going to nerf Rapid Fire, but I couldn’t find any verification as of yet.
They will not be usable in WvW after the next patch.
Thanks Mike, for ArenaNet’s continued efforts at removing the aspects of fun and player initiative from the game.
On one hand you remove PvE elements from WvW because they are deemed to be overpowered/unbalancing, yet on the other hand you put PvE elements (like Siegerazer) into the game that are clearly overpowered/unbalancing.
Why not be done with it and just force us to use the PvP template and PvP gear in WvW?
The hard mushroom jump in dreamdark enclave can be done with ‘Blink’. Tried it today after many attempts and was pleasantly surprised… Afterwards I felt like I had cheated…
It’s actually not hard as you shouldn’t aim for the mushroom cap in the first place. After so many failed attempts (and deaths) myself I saw 2 little Asura jumping on the stem of the mushroom and then hop onto the mushroom cap from there.
(and no, the 28 patch wont fix it, it merely helps people on slow computers)
Apparently didn’t bother to read Habib’s posts.

I think I stole a Guild Catapult from Baruch Bay and ran off with it into our tower when they accidentally dropped the box on the ground instead of the buildsite. :P
Just wait for the tuesday patch and you should see some decent improvement as they’re going to implement fallback models combined with the december test afaik.
I think it speaks volumes when none of the WvW guilds on Desolation are leaving, unlike the situation on some other servers
We will only get stronger as time goes on…
Agreed. Even when we had to cope with the sudden departure of one particular guild in the past, Desolation did not have ‘fairweather’ guilds like that one transferring en masse to more easy grounds.
We stuck together and molded ourselves from the ashes to rise again. If anything, that one act of desertion taught us the valuable lesson of having a strong community you can count on; even (or rather especially) when the times are tough.
And having such a strong devoted community is probably the best aspect any server may hope to attain and keep. In my humble opinion Desolation is such a server and we would welcome any and all people of like mind who wish to strengthen this great community even further!
I think this is actually a great mechanic, even if it’s unintended, and should be expanded upon. Once you’re in-party with an enemy player, you should have the option to right-click their portrait and propose entering “no friendly fire” mode, where you can’t hit them, but can use support moves on them. Then to go back to normal you would just leave the party.
Not sure if a ‘no friendly fire’ mode with support options would work as it may be prone to exploiting.
Imagine a Mesmer spy on your server inviting his Mesmer friend from the opposing server to group and then use portal to get him into your keep.
Yesterday we held our tower (Redlake) on the green borderlands and were in the process of upgrading the doors (80-90% done) when the server was restarted for random maintenance.
Upon returning to the tower, all upgrade progress for the door was lost and we couldn’t restart it either as the door-icon was greyed out. Trying to start a different upgrade resulted in the message that you couldn’t order an upgrade while another upgrade was in progress.
So we had a tower with reinforced walls, but couldn’t continue upgrading anything else as the door upgrade bugged out after the restart.
Hmmm, apart from the lightning effects on the Stormbow I find it looking remarkably similar to (the Guardian’s Spirit Bow) Aether and Azureflame.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aether
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Azureflame
A Norn should be able to equip a back item that would allow an Asura to sit in it. Then they can call themselves Master Blaster and run Bartertown.
Amazing work, klhyatt!
Indeed, that is one outstanding action figure! Awesome job!
Makes you wonder why ArenaNet (as of yet) hasn’t launched its own line of high quality action figures (or anything else for that matter)…
(edited by Aveneo.2068)
Working as intended. No exploit or hack used. Only utilities and use of combo field.
I do not see a dead mesmer inside so it is safe to leave. 1 thief cannot solo a keep lord…
It’s more of a troll build and he suceeded since he trolled you to make a video of it.
Good to know the Thief was only using his own abilities and no exploit/hack. As to the matter of ‘working as intended’ I personally doubt this very much.
I witnessed a perma-invis Thief earlier today; not in combat but hiding in our keep.
The only thing which gave him/her away were little red circles and a sound effect every 5-10 seconds and the stray black line or odd little puff of smoke (which blinded me apparently). Only at one point did we see the Thief for a fraction of a second as he ducked behind the roof of the supply depot. Unfortunately I didn’t start recording until after so I couldn’t go frame-by-frame to see his/her tag.
I have no idea how they managed to remain invisible permanently with 4-5 people actively searching for the Thief in a relatively small area (Hills inner); but all to no avail. But I don’t think this should have been ArenaNet’s intention for the Thief. Stealth in my humble opinion should be a situational tool, not something that allows the user impossible to locate indefinitely.
(sorry for the low quality upload, working on getting a HD version up soon)
If you are unsure about Desolation know that we have cookies :P
(Seriously though…Lots of cookies…)
But you have to be fast, otherwise Wrex will have eaten them all…
^_^
In my humble opinion ArenaNet needs to reinstate the use of most bundle items. They actually made WvW fun and gave people an excuse to get out of LA and explore the lands of Tyria in order to collect all these fun toys (and they’re a great goldsink too *wink/nudge).
I’d understand that some restrictions should be set (like the Telportation Gun), but most bundle items did not seem that unbalanced. For example the Cannonball which could knock someone down but had an internal cd of 5 seconds I believe.
My main character has a 20-slot bag full of these items, but unfortunately their use is limited due to being denied in WvW.
At any rate, it seems that the further we go; the aspect of actually ‘having fun’ in a videogame is removed. And that is a real shame…
That never happens to me, I always /wave and then tree thieves out of nowhere jump on me.
You should never do /wave. That’s sign-language for ‘hey gank me’ when it comes to thieves.
I entirely agree with you, but we have to put up with it pending ArenaFix.
Agreed, but I’d like to change one small thing in your comment:
I entirely agree with you, but we have to report it pending ArenaFix.
You see, ‘put up with it’ would mean that we would simply allow these exploits to continue; which I for one will not put up with.
I want honorable battles and fair play above all else and I will report any and all instances that I see as being an exploit and send it to Exploits@Arena.Net with screenshots and videos.
And I would suggest that everyone does the same. It’s the only way to let ArenaNet know where things have to change in order to preserve and improve the quality of WvW for everyone.
Nice battles so far everyone, but something is showing its ugly head as it did last week which is undermining the spirit of competition again….
Could the players responsible for continuing to place siege in spawn areas please stop? You know it should not be allowed there and defending it while being invulnerable is extremely distasteful. Engaging in this activity does not reflect well for the reputation of a server. You know who you are and what you are doing is wrong, so knock it off!
Thanks in advance and see you on the battlefield.
Siege weapons in safe zone are destructible for over two weeks.
The siege may be destructible, but that’s irrelevant!
Their operators and defenders are invulnerable and take great pleasure in raining death down upon vulnerable opponents with AoE’s and arrowcarts as soon as they approach. Try taking down a trebuchet on a ledge with 10-15 invulnerable defenders guarding them.
To me it’s not in the spirit of competition if people resort to using such exploits and foul play in order to win. But we’ll see what ANet has to say about the matter.
VS zerg more than zerglings and whine about zerging.
Yep, and make claims of playing fair and not using exploits while they have been building trebs in their invul zone at their citadel several times now.
But no matter, I asked everyone to make screens/vids so ArenaNet will have a nice big pile of reports regarding this behaviour on their desk on monday. Let’s hope they will do something about it.
I believe there still is an issue with Sunrise and Twilight where they are not counted towards the ‘Legendary Collector’ achievement.
I do believe Squall has your answer, the reset was last night or the night before.
Correct. You get an increase in health because of ‘Robust’. As the WvW matches reset on friday you lose that bonus in health.
Just press B and you will see the bonuses your characters get because of WvW.
Guys, in case you didn’t notice there’s a new thread here:

Please continue discussion of our current matchup there, but leave the petty insults and flamebaiting at the (Pv)door.
Thanks
Master Maintenance Oil is Nourishment which replaces Bowl of Butternut Squash Soup but replaces it in better way.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Master_Maintenance_Oil
No it doesn’t, you can have both Master Maintenance Oil and Bowl of Butternut Squash Soup active on your character. The oil is depicted by a Wrench icon, the food with an Apple icon.
You are probably seeing WvW benefits.
Gatherer: Chance for additional Gathering Node uses.
Press B and you will see the bonuses your server has.
I wouldn’t mind to see the Portal mechanic being given to other classes. At least people would finally shut up about ‘but you have portal’ as an excuse whenever Mesmers state that their class is not functioning properly (and it is not functioning properly at all).
Necromancer and Engineer would strike me as the most likely candidates. The Necromancer being able to create a Well of Passage and the Engineer a Translocation Conduit or something.
There is also an issue with the Citadel in every BL. People can place siege and operate them while being invulnerable at the edges. At one point we had to go there to try and kill trebs that were hitting the adjacent towers, but the people protecting/manning the siege were invulnerable.
ranger is bottom of the barrel in wvw, bringing nothing useful for the team (except maybe barrage). a well done spirit buff could change this.
A well done rework could change this.
Unfortunately, they’re apparently going to nerf AoE’s. So I guess we’ll be bringing nothing useful for the team unless we’re going to see some major Ranger updates in the next patch.
All buffs ( including breakouts ) should be based on total map occupation ( all maps combined ). I don’t see any reason granting a Server breakouts or buffs if they already own 50% of the maps. It is just silly giving them breakouts on another BL or BG.
Obviously the have enough manpower. The servers on the receiving end many times have not even enough people to get a breakout going.
Agreed. At one point in time I saw a 40 man zerg doing the breakout event with Siegerazer just for the free supply and to cap a tower that was defended by (at most) 5 defenders. Heck, they even had a Mesmer lying dead inside the tower at the door so they could revive him from the other side.
I’m very happy about finally getting paid transfers. Now spies and saboteurs from one server have to pay to get onto an ‘enemy’ server and then pay to transfer back to their own.
We’ll also see a lot less instability than we do now where ‘fair weather bandwagon’ WvW players hop around like bunnies every week, swarming to the winning side or leaving the losing ones en masse. No server pride or anything, just the egocentrical desire to be on the winning side and everything else be kittened.
Also remember that this feature was meant to be in shortly after launch of the game, but because ANet still had to work out the guesting mechanic, they kept free transfers a lot longer than intended.
[HOPE] had a great time tonight, and taking a fully upgraded Garrison on Vizunah Borderlands being the crowning glory.
Whilst everyone was out on the other side fighting, we built our first Guild Golem and moved it up through the watergate undetected with just a skeleton crew of 5 people whilst keeping Ogro from [KAZ] updated on our progress.
By the time it was noticed, we were already through the first gate and got the inner south gates to 10%. At that point our little Golem died, but by that time we were joined by more people to take the remaining bit down and had a great fight inside the Lord’s Room.
(edited by Aveneo.2068)
I’m guessing that Barrage consists of a maximum of 60 little hits where each ‘retaliated’ hit would add up to a lot of damage done to you. Your elementalist AoE’s might consist of only a few big hits where you only suffer from a few ‘relatiated’ hits.
12×5=60 at 267 damage per hit (at level 80 with the base power of 916, and +1 damage for every 13.4 power above that) adds up to quite a bit of damage if all targets were affected by relatiation.
I’d rather fight opponents with an Outmanned+Orb buff than being forced to watch the Siegerazer card getting pulled every 10 minutes! That ‘Breakout’ event is starting to look more like an exploit than a mechanic in my opinion.
So I’d happily trade Siegerazer for Orb bonuses when Outmanned.
Well, and why exactly “SFR and Deso” (we can call them Seafarer’s Desolation , since they are now a single server) “hate” VS. I mean, you can hate someone that hurt you, insult you, show you no respect. don’t think there’s many of us that did such things.
I stopped reading there as you answered your own question. I ‘hate’ you for your demeaning attitude and casually flinging insults towards other servers wherever you post.
Just look at what you just wrote ‘we can call them Seafarer’s Desolation , since they are now a single server’ and tell me how that is not insulting to the players of both Seafarer’s Rest and Desolation. That demeaning attitude from Vizunah is what I ‘hate’ and whenever I see someone from SFR and someone from VS, I’m going after VS first.

Stacks are 250 max for a very good reason – a technical one, so no that change wont happen.
What is this technical reason which would allow stacks of 250 but not stacks of 999?
Is that the shard of shineyness?
Well, it starts out as a dull Exotic thing, then you need to make it a dull Prototype Ascended one as far as I know. And then you can upgrade the Prototype Ascended to a Beta Infused version to make it shiny with +5 Agony.
Click on the crossed swords icon at the top of your screen and ‘Go to the Mists’. This brings you to the PvP Lobby where you can take an Asura Gate back to Lion’s Arch.
It won’t get you back to the area you were exploring, but at least it should get you out.
Why not equip both rings until you get a different Infused Ascended ring to replace the old Ascended one?
As far as I know, all Ascended rings are unique (so you can only wear one or the same name), but Ascended and Infused Ascended of the same name can be worn together.
I hope this makes sense…
I believe several PvP amulets have stats that are different to their PvE counterparts. Just check the Berserker Amulet/Gem and you’ll notice it has Vitality. As we all know, the PvE version of Berserker gear/trinkets does not have Vitality.
So unless this is intended (because of PvP balance or I don’t know), ANet might wish to review all their amulets and gems.
My Superior Runes of the Centaur shows up as 7/6, but that’s because I have my 7th rune in my Aquabreather in order to get the 6-piece Swiftness bonus underwater.
However, in your case I believe the game sees your PvE and PvP runes and adds them up.
Personally I hope ANet will realize their mistake in attempting to add vertical progression to this game and instead will stop after they are done with trinkets.
So a big ‘NO THANKS’ to Ascended Weapons or Ascended Armor; just Rings/Earrings/Amulet/Back.
However if they still want to go all the way, I hope that they will also upgrade the special MF-exotics that cost a ridiculous amount of mats (Lyss, Ilya, Foefire’s Essence, Triforge Amulet etc etc) to Ascended status.
In my humble opinion I wouldn’t mind dungeon tokens getting their own collectible tab. I also wouldn’t mind an increase in stack size for all collectibles to 999.
I simply use a Darksteel Greatsword because I don’t have enough mats for Vision of the Mists just yet (and because it’s currently bugged and looks like 2 greatswords overlapping eachother).
Reason I chose the Darksteel one was because it looks like a regular greatsword (same model as Vision), but with darker metal and white hilt instead of lighter metal and brown hilt.

You guys are great!? It’s an honor and a privilege to run with you guys!

If anything spy kits are a huge karma drain
I don’t consider 28 Karma being a huge drain; considering people can have Karma coming out of their ears when they’re level 80. Also consider the Jug of Karma you get for your daily, which can grant up to 7,875 Karma (that’s a free 281 Spykits every day).
I can already see the next patch notes:
I mean come on, Rangers having an ability that actually works and does something beneficial?
