If people want better loot with harder content then they don’t carry about harder content just better loot.
It’s as simple as that.
Another straw man argument. We want harder content because its more fun to us. We primarily play games because they are fun. The rewards are simply there to keep us playing long-term.
Raiders in WoW doing the same raids for the loot. Doing the same raids over and over isn’t fun, in the end it’s about the loot.
I am quite sure hat the vast majority of players does not want really hard content. Really hard content would mean: not farm-able, no speed clears and each run would feel like the first one.
I think most people want content that is more profitable and with restricted accessibility to rule marker segments as soon as they start to talk about challenging/hard content.
And the players that want hard content, want that also mostly just when they can
get much more loot/money there than anywhere else. Mostly it must be also
“exclusive” loot, so they can show off how great they are in front of all those
unworthy noobs ^^and what’s wrong with that? you made it sound wrong, but with simple logic thinking, there’s nothing wrong.
The problem with it is that some individuals that know people IRL and as such can organise groups easily will have an unfair advantage. It also allows some groups to farm them creating a lot of wealth for themselves.
Raiders don’t care about how difficult it is, at least in the long run they care about how much gold they can make per hour.
Takes me long enough to collect enough scraps for 1 claims ticket, it would take 4 – 5 months to get enough for for 5 claim tickets. So not much hope of me getting many.
Buying keys is not the answer either as about 75% of what drops is kitten.
If people want better loot with harder content then they don’t carry about harder content just better loot.
It’s as simple as that.
I’ve played a lot of MMOs and gw2 has the worst leveling grind of them all imo.
I have 3 lvl 80s and that last 80 was such a kitten drag I almost gave up on it.
It’s so kitten boring. I would literally pay for instant 80, and I hated that feature in WoW.
Levelling to 80 is fast in this game.
I have 11x 80s working on another 2.
If anything it’s too fast.
Well it seems to do it when you repeat something 3 times.
So if you get a res, don’t say ty 3 times.
I alternate between ty, thx, thanks.
condi is effectively dot
Dot can be removed, direct damage can’t be.
Direct damage is usually always better, but it also can depend on the situation.
All that said, I sometimes have a hard time separating out those who want a challenge from those who want better (and/or exclusive) rewards. Often, the two wants are inseparable.
Most seem to want better rewards, so they can sell them for greater profit or to give themselves an advantage.
This game is good in the fact it’s not going to have better stats than ascended. That’s one thing this game needs to stick to.
Harder content doesn’t need to have better rewards, if the reason is purely to test your skills.
Trouble is a lot of raiders in other games do it for the profit they can get from the better rewards. They are effectively stimulated by the amount of gold they can make per hour rather than how difficult it is.
So, you’re saying that after completing the WHOLE game map, in the end i’m awarded with 2 items that will make me poor and frustrated? Really? This is my reward for completing the whole map?
I have 2 gifts already and i’m returning to the game (i’m level 80 with my main already, which i have deleted 10 months ago, and working on world map completion again) and i’m reaching the 100% map completion again. But i know that i will be rewarded with those two gifts that can be only used to craft a weapon that costs TON of gold and time and that are extremely stressful to craft if you don’t have a lot of GOLD, time and a lot of friends for some activities.
The thing is, not everyone wants to craft a #cough# legendary weapon.
Can we have another option to use those gifts? Like, idk, another thing that doesn’t cost us 1500g and months to make?
It is not something crucial or super important, but it would be nice to have this.
Well I have 18 of those and another 4 characters working on world completions.
They just sit in the bank, I’ve no real use for them at the moment.
Id say this game is plenty challenging enough.
It can be (usually multiple mobs and multiple veterans) in the 80 zones, lower regions, the difficulty doesn’t scale well, so they tend to be much easier if you’re at 80.
For all the people pointing to the LS.
Clearly the LS was not able to deliver what many people like to see and expect from an expansion. That also explains while quarter after quarter results dropped while last quarter with the announcement of the expansion is did go up again.
So it’s very nice that for you the LS works, still the LS is no expansion and did not deliver what many people expect from an expansion / what they wanted. That makes the LS irrelevant. Sure, it is what Anet had in mind (LS as a way to release expansion-like content) but it’s not how many players experience the LS.
LS isn’t irrelevant, it was the model they were working to.
A lot didn’t really like LS including myself but that still doesn’t make it irrelevant.
3 years for an expansion, what a load of kitten. If you want to judge how long it’s taken for an expansion, you should start from when they abandoned the LS model and started to work on an expansion.

The key point is nearly no one crafted Ascended armor for the looks it was purely for the stats (or collection too in some cases). Taking those stats away would defeat the purpose.
It’s the same way if you made all the legendaries look like a stick it would ruin their purpose because their primary reason for creation is the skin not the stat swapping. There is no reason to remove those extra stats , you can put in the work and get an ascended set with relatively little trouble it is readily available.
Bottom line there is no need to TAKE AWAY something from existing players just because some players didn’t put in the work to get it.
Exactly the way WoW used to work, although they had a much larger gap at one time and look what a mess that was.
How long does it take to make all that ascended armour and weapons? Just wondering how long a new player would take to get those stats.
It’s never a waste of time discussing something like stats. If people didn’t discuss game issues then they would never get any feed-back. What they do with that feed-back is another matter.
Maybe you would like to discuss your cat, well if you have one.
The biggest point that anet has to consider is the backlash from players who crafted it. Be it from the amount of gold they chucked at it, to the massive amount of time. If you look at the current thread about traits, i can tell you this would be way way worse. if they do this, i know many many people who would leave the game, not because the stats matter(lets face it, i wish our armor was still like GW1 armor), but because they lost something they put so much time in to get. Much like if ANET decided to just pull the Obsidian armor out of GW1, how would you have felt after putting in so much time for something?
What if they redesigned them, so that they looked a lot better with better effects?
After all some of those with them say the stats are not important.
@"close the gap! Close the gap!"
Argueing about this really doesn’t matter. You can make as many rationalizations as you want. But with all these threads created on it over the months, and no dev response. It seems clear Anet has no intention of changing this. So all this time posting here Is just a waste of time. I’m done looking at this thread. Have fun argueing for the sake of argueing I suppose.

So do people want Asc removed because they don’t have it? Why is this line of thinking even being entertained? There will be things in this life that you won’t have – doesn’t give you the right to demand their removal xD
My line of thought is there’s not an issue with having ascended weapons/gear, with their looks and effects. The only issue is with increased stats.
But ascended looks and effects are horrible
Well some of them are, but that’s an issue the art department needs to address.
Edit: People should want to make them because they look good, not because they have better stats. Better stats is a copout to try and make them desirable, but the style and effects should be good enough for people to want to own one.

Why do people need a difference in stats at 80.
There is no reason the game should be balanced around exotic stats.
Some people like an advantage though no matter how large or small so they will defend higher stats.
Having stat advantages ruins PvP, not for the people with the advantage but for those that do not have the same advantage.
Higher stats in PvE, can also ruin PvE for some people, as those with the higher stats can blitz through mobs easier when competing for the same mobs. But then rangers are pretty good at doing that anyway.
There is no logical reason for having higher stats on some gear if you’re trying to keep a game balanced and keeping it fair for everyone.
The increase in stats was a mistake, one they certainly shouldn’t make any worse.
Grinding for gear because of better stats is one of the things that helped ruined WoW, Blizzard even realised it eventually and tried to do something about it.
All level 80s should be able to compete. In WoW around the time of the Pandas, PvP was so out of balance that a new 90 ( WoW) did not stand a chance against someone with better gear.
My problem with dungeons is, that there is no reason anymore to run them except for gold. Why would it be unnecessary to add something like the special dropps in fractals to dungeons?
I don’t see the point myself.
If you are really bored with them as you say you are, then why do them.
Having a rare drop that is account bound, might give you a reason to do them but it won’t make you any less bored.
Weylin it seems to be you wanting the mounts instead of your friends, so I’m just going to flat out say what I suspect a good portion of posters could well be thinking.
Uninstall the game, install WoW, have fun with their mount system.
Its a win win, we don’t get mounts, and you can play with these invisible friends of yours! Yaaaaaaaaay
Well, WoW is still subscription based or I might try it out again.
There’s also RIFT, which had its highlights, but it got boring fast.
A few of them was mentioning Archage but I’ve never looked into it, and they said that the cash shop is a bit overbearing, but 2 player mounts? sounds awesome.I’ll just keep playing GW2 here and there, I’m ok without there being mounts, I’m fairly neutral on the subject myself.
Mounts are not keeping your friends from playing, if anything that would be just an excuse.
The way players sit around on their mounts in WoW we’re better off without mounts.
Some people really want to be a girl in real life though. I asked a few people that I know and they said they like being treated as a female for more attention and stuff. Although they have a female name and act like a girl and not simply have few females characters but usually all of them.
Played female characters since 2005 in MMO’s.
In all that time I’ve only been hit on once by some creepy guy in WoW.
As for special treatment that’s more of a myth, don’t get any special treatment.
All 12 of my GW2 characters are female, even the Charr, I won’t say I act like anything out of the ordinary, just play the game couldn’t careless if my fellow players are male or female or even what sexual persuasion they are. It’s a game, I don’t know them in real life, I’m not likely to meet them so who cares.
ps: also i wonder how will end my account like 2-3 years after full inactivity will the facepalm themselfs saying just ouch… idk
Can’t answer the first part.
But as for the ps, all accounts are active even if you’re not playing them, unless ANet closes them for misconduct.
I got to 80 in like 10 minutes. Tomes <3
Wonder how long it would take you to do world completion.
I’ve been reluctant to use transmutation charges at all, opting to save them for something especially nice looking on a decent item after reaching max level.
I feel as though fairly common items (aquired from white, blue, green) shouldn’t cost charges at all, while the far more epic looking skins do cost charges.
Think about it, why would I want to waste a transmutation charge for a swindler mask on some mid level piece of trash? It makes no sense at all.
Any thoughts on this? I mean, at the best price, a charge is worth about 5 gold…
Do what I do, don’t change the look often and try to wait until 80 before using them.
I’ve wasted a few sets lately on a couple of 80s, but then I’ve still got around 210+
Once you have your characters looking the way you want them, you don’t really need them after that.
What designer thought it was a good idea for people who can only use one portal on their account to get multiple portal drops?
I got two, the second one doesn’t matter at all.
It didn’t stop anyone else getting one. Its worth 25 silver to an NPC, so no big deal.
Multiple portal drops don’t matter one bit, it was probably just easier for them to do it this way.
Any memorable moments of getting that last tiny bit of exp to hit 80?
Of my two mains, my Sylvari dinged while picking blueberries. Quite fitting, since he has the blueberry skin colour.
My other main hit 80 after rezzing someone in WvW. I didn’t even know you get exp for that.
My first 6 80s I had within 2 months with a map completion of 92% for 5 of those about 73 % for the other one, that was over 2 years ago. Got 10 80s now and levelling two more, hitting 80 is only really great because at 80 you can start to give them decent gear.
They are kind of boring, if there’s two fractals then I don’t even bother doing them as I wouldn’t be able to get the completion.
Jumping puzzles are everything wrong in the world.
I would literally spend money to have a tool that can cheese these things. It’s fine having to find the entrance and going around and exploring, but when it comes to jumping on these narrow sticks shoved in the side of walls, and cramped overheads to bang your head on, and then having to start all over again when you mess up, it’s really just too much for me.
The worst part is that you have to do them for map completion.
You have no idea how badly a missed area hurts my OCD, the pain is excruciating.
World completion jumping puzzles are a lot easier and shorter than the main jumping puzzles. There really isn’t any reason you can’t do them with a bit of practice, unless of course you find using a mouse and keyboard difficult.
Why does he care, would be my question.
Why do women play guy characters, probably for the same reasons as some guys ( a lot) play female characters.
I play female characters, these are the reasons.
1) I might RP the role of the character but I never RP the character itself.
2) Because of 1) I only play in 3rd person view. Third person view also allows you to be more aware of what is around your character.
3) Female characters actually look better than male characters, usually male characters have far too much muscle, too square in the body and generally move awkwardly. Females characters move more gracefully. Plus if I have to look at a body, prefer an hour glass shape.
4) I prefer listening to female voices (goes for music too).
5) Can dress them up in sexier armour, as a straight guy I certainly wouldn’t be able to do that with a male character.
These kind of questions come up all the time on MMO forums, I know some people find it strange that guys can play female characters, but then I find it strange that they find it strange.
Knew one guy in another MMO when I was playing a male character, that left the game because I started playing a female character as my male one was unavailable at that time. So I know some people feel strongly about it but they are quite wrong in their assumptions.
I’ve been married for 20 years, no interest in any kind of porn and certainly no interest in developing romantic relationships in an MMO.
Wouldn’t one think that with so many people suggesting it that they may take it more seriously?
I’m not sure what their reasons are, or why I can’t get any of my friends to play because of a thing like this.
Not really!
I prefer it without mounts.
Chuck that isn’t what this thread is about. Also you’re mis interpreting what Anet said. They are doing the next beta by both random email and by the portal drops. So if you didn’t get a portal drop there’s still a chance you get in through selection from email.
or you are misinterpreting and it means " If you aren’t selected from the mailing list you still have a chance to by looting a portal. The whole point of newsletter was to select a player base for the BETA’s. By making it available to everyone completely nulls there reasoning for newsletter. So RNG conundrum again.
But then why invite everyone to try for a portal if only those on the list could get one?
The mailing list got the first round of players into the stress test, the portals was the means to expand the number participation. Again under the rational that RNG is fair to all.
Fairness or to keep people playing. If you were TOLD it was only going to those who signed up and you didn’t sign up would you still farm for it? No. You’d be doing something more your taste instead of grinding dead maps. So as players obtain theirs map population would diminish until it was dead again. Gotta keep people playing to continue game production. What % of those who signed up got into the stress test? Most likely a small % leaving a plenty large source to pull from.
Except I got a portal without being signed up, the email you get when you find a portal tells you to sign up if you have not already. It even gives you the web address to sign up at.
So you’re just talking kitten.
And people who continue to post that it’s not real keep leaving out evidence like DR and how other games out there don’t use DR in their loot systems and the fact that we keep seeing a recurrence of missing chests. That doesn’t happen in a normal loot system.
If you look at ALL of the evidence then you begin to see that not only is it not a typical loot system but you’ll also see that similar things were reported in every other game in mmo development history that added their own versions of DR to their loot system.
Remember folks, they posted once before after 9 months of evidence that there wasn’t a problem, and then in fact found a problem no apologies no nothing.
Want it to stop? Well, get them to remove DR. People won’t have anything to post about because they’ll actually be getting their loot instead of skulls. The evidence is absolutely there you just have to believe what you’re seeing.
How I avoided missing chests.
When you arrive at fort, either attack then defend then rebuild then escort to the next fort. Or defend then rebuild then escort to the next fort.
Rebuilt 3 times once at one fort, only got a chest the first time.
I’m kind of fine the way it works now and I hear there’s going to be an update to the TP anyhow but I wouldn’t mind a “Place in basket” feature.
They shouldn’t have a place in basket feature, you’re buying from other players not a store.
Items come and go all the time, holding onto the items in a basket would be unfair to the player selling.
Because the player base for beta has already been selected. The ones that signed up for the newsletter were thrown into the “qualify” loot table. Then a selection of those is chosen and they mark the account. For that player to receive they just have to farm maguuma waste. They’ll keep getting some until its over. So many will not get one because they weren’t selected from the “qualify” table. this is why some have farmed a couple days and have multiple. And others will farm there until it ends and get nothing. If it was really random that would select from the overall player base, not by signing up for a newsletter. Some would say “tin-foil hat” but those are skeptics who try to post as much as possible. Nothing is random when your in a controlled group.
Well that’s false, for one it’s getting the portal that sends the email and marks the account. Secondly I never signed up for the newsletter until after I had the portal.
(edited by Azala Yar.7693)
No it doesn’t because you do not exclude bad rolls so your chance gets a “reset” for every try.
That’s a false misconception. The chance of the single try is not related to the other ones, so the sense of having a greater chance by time is not real. Prove of that is that even if unlikely, there are people out there who farmed since the announcement and still didn’t get anything.
That’s not how it works. What you are describing is the gambler’s fallacy, that with each subsequent roll, the chance of the following roll giving the desired result increases, which is false. Each roll is independent and the chance of getting a 6 is 1/6. That doesn’t change.
However, if you roll 2 dice, the chance of getting 6 at least one time after rolling 2 dice is not 1/6, but 1/3 since there are 12 combinations that contain at least one 6, and 36 possible outcomes.
However, the more times you roll the dice the more chance you have of getting it, even if it is the same odds for each roll of the dice. Which is where the gamblers fallacy as you call it comes from.
The poster – yeah you only feel good because you got lucky. If you didn’t your post would look much different.
They should minimize RNG period because things should feel earned, not lucked upon.
They’d have grateful players who feel their 60 hours invested actually got them something, instead of raging people who just quit.
Being earned is not a fair system. Someone like myself that can play for as long as I like would have a huge advantage over someone that works or has other commitments that limit their game time.
RNG is the only fair system because it doesn’t favour anyone.
I spent over 60 hours getting one and I really got bored at times, especially where I was just killing every mob I could see in between events and in the evenings as the evening tended to have less people doing the main events. I can understand peoples disappointment especially those that have farmed for many hours but that doesn’t make it an unfair system. People knew the risks before they started farming for the portals although they didn’t know what the drop rates would be like. So RNG the problem or the low drop rates?
My guess is they chose the areas because they wanted to have players that had level 80s so that at least they knew the game fairly well, or at least the parts they play. Also it’s a good way to maybe tempt people into getting the living story 2 through the luminescent armour achievements as you can get most of the parts through doing the events. I got all the parts except 1 armour part that can be gotten without LS2.
I’d say it was fairly enjoyable when there were enough doing the events, but it did have a lot of grinding as you search for the thing. When I got mine it felt like a bit of an anti-climax because for all the thousands of mobs I killed I got it from a chest for helping to repair a wall.
But what ever system they chose there will always be disappointed people because there’s a limit on how many can be beta testers.
(edited by Azala Yar.7693)
I doubt there will be many bugs to find. I feel like the only things they won’t have already found with in-house testing will be related to the number of players. As many others have said, public betas are mostly just marketing stunts now.
There’s going to be bugs, they can’t test for every eventuality.
If you feel like I do, feel free to post +1 or anything else, so maybe, just maybe, Anet sees how many people they are making unhappy with this.
Please STOP WITH THE RNG.
Everything, anything, in the game (ideally) should be earned, not chanced upon.
When you take right steps with masteries, EARNABLE precursors, maps like Dry Top And Silverwastes which introduce EARNABLE collections, armor stats, skins, back pieces…When you do that, and then drop in more RNG, you look like a company that is poorly organized. Left hand doesn’t know what the right one is doing.
RNG rewards very few, kittenes off very many, causes people to feel unrewarded for the vast amounts of time they put into the game, and causes them to play less, not more. Which loses you money in the long run.
You know this, and yet you keep on doing it. Get your kitten together and stop it.
And I don’t even care about the Beta Portal. It’s one of those drops that took me over the edge, at the root being the problem of constant RNG and feeling unlucky, unrewarded, and playing less and less because of it.
RNG makes a game more interesting, if everything was earned then there wouldn’t be much in the way of rarity of items.
TBH earning everything sounds quite boring, you would know exactly what the reward would be.
RNG is definitely better, I can’t think of a better system, even though it doesn’t often favour me, Although, I did get an ascended weapon chest whilst looking for the portal.
So you have no interest in beta testing but you would have liked to have done it for any free goods. That’s the type of player they don’t want as beta testers, unfortunately there’s quite a few like that.
What type of player is that exactly?
Is it wrong that I want a chance at getting a reward that interests me? I tried to apply to the first beta several times, but the system never registered me. I didn’t even have a chance. After reading about the beta experience and what it would take to get into the next beta, I decided that I would rather wait until the game was released and play it then. I never complained that I wasn’t able to participate. However, I later learned that players in the beta were rewarded with something that I did want. This was unfair and cruel.
Why does my interest in receiving the heroic chest make me open to verbal abuse and harassment?
The amount of bullying on this forum is ridiculous.
People can only go by what you write.
All the MMOs I’ve played the companies have rewarded the beta tester in one way or another, I don’t see why you would think Anet would be any different.
So I just don’t see why you would begrudge them the chest. I didn’t get one either, but then I wasn’t a beta tester so I don’t expect to get one.
If you went for a job interview and you didn’t get the job would you still expect a salary from them, of course you wouldn’t.
As for what I was talking about in regard to beta testers, there are some that just want to check out the game (or expansion) so they can decide if to buy it or not. Others so that when its released they can get ahead quicker. Some (although probably a small minority) look for weaknesses within the program so they can exploit them. And of course you get some that just beta test to see what rewards they get. That’s not to say they can’t be a good beta tester as well as, well except the exploiters.
I think the way Anet have done it this time is actually not a bad way, the regions chosen were level 80s because they want beta testers that at least understand the game.
Also if someone wanted to be a beta tester they had to put some effort into it (majority would have had to anyway).
I don’t see any bullying on this forum, it seems like most forums but then I don’t read everything on this forum, although it does seem better than some.
I saw someone that linked 6 portals 2 days ago. lol
Which means they got 1 gold 50 silver if they decided to sell them to an NPC.
Portals don’t actually matter, they’re just a means to flag an account, which is why it doesn’t matter even if you lose them as the account has already been flagged.
Rewarding a random sample is in poor taste.

Giving heroic chests via in-game mail to players who participated in the previous HoT stress test is a bit of a slap in the face to those who were eager to get in but did not receive access. It’s a bit like paying people for having their names drawn from a hat.
Hopefully this doesn’t become a trend.
It’s not a slap in the face at all, they’re being rewarded for their participation which is fine. Wanting to participate isn’t the same as actually participating.
Randomness is supposed to be fair. However, there is reason to suspect that things might not be truly random.
Yeah? What reason? You didn’t get one? That’s not a compelling argument.
I’m just making a point. I haven’t even attempted to get the portal stone. It has no interest to me other than the extra rewards beta players might get. Frankly, I find your accusations against me insulting. I suggest you get your facts right before your start attacking someone or just stop being so hostile in general.
So you have no interest in beta testing but you would have liked to have done it for any free goods. That’s the type of player they don’t want as beta testers, unfortunately there’s quite a few like that.
What’s this reason to suspect it’s unfair? I’ve seen no evidence of it and you are not providing any.
All players are using the same system, so even if there was a fault within the program, it would effect us all. So nobody is getting any special treatment.
Yup, another portal complaining thread. That being said though, I’m not complaining about the RNG per se, more that the same person can get more than one portal. I’ve seen some people with three or more portals, while the number of complaints from everyone else just goes up and up. I have zero idea as to if there are a limited number of portals, but everyone having an equal chance even if they already have a portal just seems silly. Anyone else have thoughts on this (that isn’t “RNG is lame, I didn’t get mine yet”)?
Oh, and before someone says “It’s RNG, live with it”, I think doing this via RNG is a good thing. Just part of the execution seems flawed.
It’s not flawed, it’s just random luck.
Doesn’t matter how many portals someone gets, they still counts as one.
And as I stated in my last post, people are horrible at understanding probabilities. With a low enough chance you can get a significant percentage getting nothing while a relative few get a boatload given enough trys. That’s the nature of randomness. There isn’t a discernible pattern. There will always be “unlucky” and very “lucky”.
Just to be clear here, I know that there is nothing wrong with the loot system and that it truly is sufficiently random, and that any extremely lucky streak can end at any time.
Just out of curiosity…How do you “know” this to be true?
I’ve never thought of a computer program as really being capable of truly being random.
But even if it can’t it doesn’t really matter, because the program doesn’t have emotions and will just work the same way for everyone.
You don’t really get it right? xD They put it inot DT and SW to bring players there, hello, u claimed that u are active so u should know the case. But if u don’t then some recap: Actually lot of new players want to play SW / DT to get their skins etc. BUT they can’t cos no more players were doing events. All were farming chests instead of doing it so ppl qqed at forums and so on they wanted to put some live to those maps by giving away beta access( as they claimed at start they were supposed to chose players not give beta away so u should be greatfull to them for doing this).
I suspected that events weren’t that active at times, which is part of why I spent all that time looking for the portal, whilst doing that did at least 31 main events and got all the body parts and the imbued parts. Still need some armour parts (3 legs and 3 others).
So I’ll still be there for awhile collecting for the other 6 parts although I think I have to unlock the legs via LS2.
But at the moment, there’s plenty of people there in the mornings and afternoon, but starts to get a bit unreliable by the evening. The evenings is what I would think it’s like normally.
Feeling pretty bad. Just got my second portal drop today and it is pretty useless. There should be an option to “gift” it to another player in the map or something.
You shouldn’t feel bad, the second one is irrelevant, just sell it to an NPC for the 25 silver.
Getting the portal flags your account which in turn sends you the email.
You only need one portal to flag your account, any portal after that won’t do anything (might send another email).
People seem to think that there is a set amount of portals, well the way they’ve done it that can’t be the case.
It’s probably why they gave them a 25 silver value, so at least you get something out of your duplicates.

Know how you feel, and reports of newer accounts being luckier, and some accounts getting multiple portals is very worrying, it seems they are not rewarding players correctly, or fairly!
Multiple portals are not a worry, they will still count as just one.
I spent over 60 hours getting one.
It was a pain in the butt at times but it does seem like a fair system as it’s luck based.
Doesn’t make much difference if you play 6 hours or 60, you still have a chance of getting one.
Also the majority of those found are likely to end up with players that actually want to be there as they’ve had to do something about achieving that.
Question is what do they want to be there for, actual beta testing or just trying it out.
This is really bad. They should cap at 1 and let other people get beta portals!
If that person didn’t get 1 more portal someone else could have got it who needed it. This is really stupid..
I doubt people with multiple portals are stopping anyone else.
Anet will be working on the number of unique accounts rather than the number of portals found.
