Got the same issues, watched two films hoping it would be sorted by the time they finished but still can only get into the character screen. Try to load any character and I just get a delay and no network message.
Don’t suppose there’s an eta for a fix?
(edited by Azala Yar.7693)
I have discovered the pattern for mine
I have 6 characters with 100% WORLD completion, and 2 without.
The 6 with world completion did not receive rewards, the 2 without received rewards both for SW/DT/SSC maps already completed and once completed which i did to test
Just to comment on this, I did complete VB this morning (no completion though), but I can somewhat confirm this statement.
I had characters fully explore DryTop, Silverwastes, and Southsun prior to HoT and did not receive any rewards there for map completion. However, I had my Revenant explore Southsun and received a “Map Completion Chest” with a letter in the mail just like all the other core Tyria zones.
So not only are we missing the map completion for the new HoT zones, but also Dry Top, Silverwastes, and Southsun. I did not receive any on my other characters that completed those zones prior to Heart of Thorns. Even characters I have that were just missing 1 POI were not getting map completion rewards after I found what I was missing.
It’s a major problem because in order to get your Ascended Elite Spec weapon, you need to map complete a Heart of Thorns map.
That’s interesting, I actually did Southsun the other day and didn’t get a reward, didn’t know there was one. But then I always do map completions before Southsun, Dry top and Silverwaste. All 15 of my characters have world completions, so no incentive to complete any more maps until its been fixed.
I have a solo guild (best part of 3 years), wasted over 45k influence, as it said register and you’ll get a gift.
I thought what have I got to lose, well it seems 45k influence as there is no gift. Or at least no way for me to claim it.
Living story mission.
Twice now I’ve spent a lot of time in there and had to abandon the mission.
The mission works fine up until the boss fight (Malevolent Memory).
First time I got the boss to around 45% health on the second colour (blue I think) and its health remained constant. It just stands in the middle of the room so you have to go in to attack it, or it’ll just stay there forever, well it did stay there forever, had to abandon it in the end.
Second time, I got the boss only to around 60% on green, same problem stands in the middle of the room, you go in and hit it, I was doing around 16 damage to it and 693 to the small one. Couldn’t tell if its health bar was actually moving, if it was it would take ages to even notice it. Marjory wasn’t doing any damage, but that’s to be expected from an NPC. Only thing I could do was abandon it yet again.
Anyway hope they fix this as it’s holding up progress.
Ya i really feel this change will be bad for the overall ingame economy, except for those who have been hording the skins. Just seems like a blatant cash grab.(i know its a business, but still) Would be nice to atleast have the stuff be sellable instead of accountbound.
Lets just hope if they don’t revert the changes that atleast the increase of key drops in game is actually significant, so the change isnt a big deal . . .but i doubt it.
Knowing where and how they drop would of been great to add to the patch notes.
I know it’s not much to go by as I only got about 5 keys from world drops (small sample).
But from that sample it would suggest that they drop from anything, albeit at a very low drop rate, even if they doubled the drop rate, I doubt you would see many. It wouldn’t make sense to have a different drop rate on different mobs as all it would do is make some people just keep farming the same mobs.
Only ever had about 5 key drops from world mobs and I have 13x 80’s.
Never done key farming, as in disposable alts.
I know there is a key in one of the missions to do with Claw Island, so I’m wondering if it’s effected that as well (level 60 mission iirc). As I’m going through the stories with all my characters (4 characters completed so far) in preparation for HoT and I know some are at the Claw Island stage.
It only applies to the level 10 PS mission. Pretty much there is a timer on how many times you can get rewarded on the first stage it doesn’t actually affect the later missions.
Ok thanks, I’ll try it out later in that case.

Charr tail is ok as it is, would be a bit boring if it didn’t move.
Only got an Engineer Charr that uses a flamethrower, I always equip it when moving as I find the running on all fours worse than a tail and the flamethrower makes sure I move on 2 legs.
It’s more awkward jumping with a Charr than the other races, probably due to the body being bent over, but jumping is still doable.
Where is RNGesus when you need him….
Most of the time It doesn’t work for me last night however, purchased 1000 trick-or-treat bags and the 94th one gave me the ghost wolf pet.
So no complaints about RNG from me, lol.
I didn’t see all 21 days of it, only the last 10 days.
Did buy the 5 keys and a pack that contained 30 dyes and 10 more key plus a few other things. Missed out on the pet rock as got that the day before it went on sale.
But it was a sale, if a high street shop had a sale do you think they would discount the best stuff? Well they might on one or two items but that’s just to draw people in.
So I really don’t see what the complaints about, they offered a sale and you got a sale. What was in the sale might not be to your liking but that’s sales for you.
Yepp happened last night, twice.
Stuck on LA loading screen and then WvW one, both of which I could hear regular audio, people running around but the loading screen just stayed there.
- Frequent lag
- constant disconnects
- very slow load times
I’ve noticed some lag at times.
Not had any disconnects although I have had the game freeze on 2 occasions, in fact one was earlier tonight, had to reboot the PC as I couldn’t close GW2 down.
Load times are definitely slower than they used to be.
Does the OP actually think anyone/everyone that plays GW2 watches any/all/official Twitch streams? Or is it something else he/she is trying to say?
I don’t use twitch.
Been back about a week. Last played around the time just after the first beta test for HoT, the one where you got the invite farming in Silverwastes.
Certainly before F2P, I haven’t noticed much of a difference if anything, it seems slightly higher in the numbers playing.
Just a general note you can’t go by accounts in this game in relation to who is playing as all purchased accounts are always active unless they’ve been closed by Anet for misdoings.
Got 13x 80s and a spare slot for a revenant. 10 of which have world completions and working on the other 3.
But I’ll be mainly just playing one, once those 3 have world completions. Then doing the same with the revenant.
Although I’m in the process of redoing the professions so that they are just on 2 characters.
So no intention of having more than 14 and 14 is only because of 1 of each class as human and then 1 of each of the other races.
I was running around will loads of people although I wasn’t in a group, think it was 5 sites I did. Mobs didn’t drop anything, plus no rewards. I was just left thinking what’s this event all about.
So I doubt I’ll bother with the event as it seems completely pointless.
There is one thing maybe you could do and that is create a warrior and just use an outfit to give it the appearance of light armor, assuming you like any of the outfits.
A thief is a good one if you don’t mind using 1 sword (no 2h sword use) it’s medium armor though. My 2 thieves use twin daggers (both) and a short bow on one and twin pistols on the other. Not used the sword so don’t know how effective it is.

can u send me a full build pls
It’s not going to give you what you want anyway.
But Mesmers can be fun, but you’ll probably find people wanting you to create portals.
Is it mobile and does it have flurry attacks and can evade attacks? But i thought it has heavy armor.I wanted something like a light armor sword/sword mobile and can evade attacks and maybe even solo small bosses in dungeons. Is there something like that?
Think Mesmer is the only light armor one.
So yes, you can click that little remind me later button every 5 logins.
I’ll have to check that out, because yesterday I seemed to get it every login.
But that still doesn’t answer the question is it going to be compulsory in the near future.
Anyway part of the issue for me is that the email address I use for GW2 is specific to GW2 and as such only me and Anet know what it is. Consequently I get no junk mails or any others on that email account other than official notifications. Not bad seeing it’s been the best part of 3 years, shows Anet at least respect their customers in that area. Hence why I’m not keen to give it to any 3rd party.

The benefits of the message outweigh the need for a disable. Let the button stay until someone signs up!
If they’re not going to sign why keep the button.
I certainly wouldn’t use SMS. I also wouldn’t use Google especially if you need to sign up to them.
So there should be a don’t show message again check box at least.
Funny thing is when I reinstalled the game Friday I wasn’t getting the message, only been getting it in the last day or two. But I can sign in multiple times in a day.
Is there any class including revenant and elite specialisation that resembles a swordsman
Not used my 2 warriors for awhile, but one has 2 axes so I guess that can also use 2 swords, if twin swords is what you are referring to.
Lol.
Else you just clic later, else you use one of the two step authentification they offer you. That’s that simmple.
You don’t need to… You should pay more attention when you read something. And if a simple clic bother you, I am sorry for you.
Lol,
What’s the point of having to keep clicking when they could give you an option to opt out and not have the message keep reappearing . Now that would be so simple.
The fact they haven’t done so seems to suggest that they are going to make it compulsory, I’m really looking for clarification as to this point.
I just log in, I prefer it that way, been doing that in MMOs since 2004 and have never had any issue with security.
That sounds like famous last words!
Unless you’re moving all over the place and playing the game you should only need to authenticate once. Given that for an extra level of security, what do you have to lose?
It’s up to you though, of course.
I still don’t see why this game should be different to any other MMO I’ve played in those others it’s just an option.
But anyway I was under the impression you wouldn’t need to if your account was old, the login message seems to contradict that.
Looks like I’ll end up having to check with customer services.
I’m using Google Authenticator. When the SMS system came out I decided to try it, but given it took them over 2 hours to send me out the first message to get the thing set up I quickly decided to revert back to using the Authenticator, despite the SMS’s inherent advantages.
I just log in, I prefer it that way, been doing that in MMOs since 2004 and have never had any issue with security.
Accounts since august 28th have to activate a two step activation. Members before that don’t need to.
If you don’t like SMS, just use google authentificator, it’s litteraly just once if you have only one computer you play on.
My account is over 2 years old, I should of mentioned that.
But ofc, no one forces me to play condi.
Exactly!
I actually left this game before the change as the new system was going to be introduced and didn’t like the idea of reskilling 13 characters. Plus for some reason after the first beta my operating system starting crashing on occasions so decided to uninstall.
Reinstalled on Friday, found the skill system easy to setup and use and my beta character was gone, so far the operating system hasn’t crashed, I don’t expect it to either.
I actually like the changes and condi needed a buff anyway.
SMS on login is starting to get annoying, why isn’t there an option to disable it. All you can do is agree to it or get it to ask you later.
Actually, not knowing if you need SMS is stopping me from buying the expansion, as I won’t use SMS. Just recently spent £46 pound in the shop as well, I’ll have to stop doing that until I know that you will not need it to be able to carry on playing.
(edited by Azala Yar.7693)
I’d purchased about 8 armor sets from the store and 0 outfits.
Got no use for outfits so I shall not be buying any from the store.
Plus side is I save my cash, lol
So this game, I keep coming back to it and willing to play, but the thing is that there is alot to do but I have no idea where to start or how to even do half of it. Feels like I need to create a ‘’to do list’’ but is there anyone else that has had this problem? I eventually take breaks from the game because of this, i just feel lost and unmotivated as a result.
so yeah can anybody offer advice? I know that there is no preset way to play an MMO but any advice would be nice
Got 9 world completions.
My advice would be to aim for a world completion with one character whilst doing the personal story as well. By the time you’ve achieved that you should have some idea of what you want to do.
Normally, I tend to complete a map of an area/region before moving to another. Focusing on smaller areas makes it easier than looking at what’s left to do on the world map. Plus newer areas are not part of the world completion (unless they change it in the future).
Personally, I prefer more covering for heavy armor because it’s less cheesy and more realistic.
That really doesn’t make much sense to me, more realistic when the game is a fantasy game and has magic as part of its content.
Being fantasy and having magic means you don’t need to walk around in a suit of armour that’s made like a tank.
Anet will not change anything. They are in the buisness to make money. Just like the era of Megaserver, they will ignore EVERYTHING you guys say until things die down. They know eventually you will accept it and buy the expac anyway. Just like it took about a month to accept the Megaserver, and now nobody complains and have grown to accept it, it will be the same here.
I wonder, though.
Those guys you remember complaining about ascended gear/the NPE/the megaservers/the Living World season 1 short’s duration/etc, etc?
Are they silent now because they have accepted it, or because they have left?
These are the GW2 earnings since release.
Is that the picture of a bunch of happy players who accept everything ArenaNet do? Doesn’t look like so.
Was playing GW2 a lot until just after the first beta test, wasn’t impressed with what I saw (I know it was just a sample). Price of expansion put me off of buying it. Which is odd in some ways as I’ve purchased gems without even worrying about it before.
With the state of the MMO industry now and the way they’ve developed MMOs, I really don’t have much interest in them any longer. Although occasionally I’ll look at one of the forums. In the past I’ve had rests from an MMO and played another for awhile, but this time it’s different, looks like I’ve given up completely and reading forums just strengthens that resolve.
But you are right sometimes one side of an argument gets noticeably quieter on a forum and often it is because they’ve left already.
I can’t do my daily today because I’d have to go out of my way to do it.
Please make 3 Fractal dailys every day so I can complete my daily please.
Seeing as more complain about there being 2 fractals in the dailies on occasions.
Do you troll much?
Knock down mechanics are fine as they are, either dodge or attack those mobs at range.
I tried to interact with one of those speed up plants and got disconnected back to Windows.
Then Windows decided to reboot with a message something like
PFN-LIST-CORRUPT
Other than that didn’t seem to have any issues.
It reminded me of a cross between Silverwastes and Dry Tops, although I like Silverwastes I don’t really like Dry tops that much.
Yeah, didn’t really think that much of the maze or the scenery, scenery is just chaotic.
Also a pity about the mobs, not that interesting after killing mobs in Silverwastes for more than 100 hours.
Found the storyline part of the Beta easy to complete, easier than some of the older storylines. Was using a thief with 2 pistols.
Well, if I put up a LFG zerker dungeon/fractal meta build and then you come in with your hambow warrior completely disregarding the LFG description, then you should be kicked because you didn’t read the LFG. If I put up a LFG run whatever you want then bring your hambow warrior all day. Both groups have the right to include or exclude who they want to group with, and a gear/trait inspect tool will greatly help both groups by allowing people who want to play together to play together.
And what you will end up with is the same kind of elitist attitude that you find in WoW. Great way to turn the community into one that mimics WoW.
I hope they never introduce duelling.
Inspecting might become available with the new character API endpoint, which is discussed here
https://github.com/arenanet/api-cdi/pull/16and in the API subforum.
Hope not, there’s no reason to inspect anyone.
You have ot give other players an API character key you generate, so they can inspect you via an app.
I don’t want an API character key, because players will use it to exclude people from groups like they do in other games.
It’s just a game, can’t say I’m proud of anything I’ve done in the game.
Although could say I’m satisfied that I’ve done 10 world completions.
But still trying to work out what to do with the rewards.
Don’t you guys find the game and forum so normal and dead without trolling?
Trolling brings a good laugh to…the troll…
Trolling doesn’t bring a good laugh to people, if a successful troll all it does is satisfy the troll.
Trolls wind people up then they sit back and watch what develops.
So no trolling should not be allowed.
lol its a scary remote island, if you’re doing the heart best to stomp rats and let them have the birds.
Nah, kill birds too, if it annoys them they only have themselves to blame.
Seen them all running around there myself, usually wearing no armour, I just laugh at them.
But yeah Anet should do something about it as they disrupt players that are trying to do the heart.
I hope they never introduce duelling.

This is devolving into the same argument as the WvW map completion.
“QQ ITS TOO HARD MAKE EASIER PLZ”
“QQ I MAKE ALTS BUT DONT WANT TO PLAY THEM”
Yeah same arguments by people that want everything just given to them.
Seems to be a sign of the times.
I am all for this idea. Makes it actually enjoyable to roll new characters with friends on different races instead of having to WALK all across the map as lvl 5…
So many people here are so negative about new suggestions, as if something personal is being taken away from them, and this isn’t the only thread like this.
All the time I’ve spent doing world completions and you want to make them pointless.
Anyway you shouldn’t be walking across the map at level 5, of course if you could you would level quicker from the higher area xp gains on vistas and POI.
So if it did happen you may as well remove the xp gains from those as well.
What if the content adapts, or has a random factor that can’t be predicted? Would that be annoying, or make it stay interesting for longer?
I’m asking because you (meaning everyone asking for it) want difficult content, but it seems that the bigger rewards are for when it grows old to you. And ANet doesn’t want to give out bigger rewards for things, so what we need is a way to keep any difficult content fun for longer.
I cant see that working but if they could do something that would keep me interested without better rewards I wouldnt mind. For them to actually pull that off would be game changing. The current explorable dungeons were suppose to be something like that but we all seen how that ended up.
Let me ask one more, important question, then.
First, assume that bigger rewards are off the table, the content itself is all you’re getting. Now, is there ANYTHING you can think of that wouldn’t quickly lose its appeal? Something that would last long enough, be popular enough, to justify the time spent creating it? If so… what?
I’d say he can’t see that working, because if the instance alters each time, they wouldn’t be able to farm it quick enough.
It’s about making gold which is what raiders do. Once they know how to do the instance.
With the organised groups (groups outside of the game) they can use multiple groups farming, the more the gold making opportunity is within a local area the better it is for them.
It seems like the “I want harder content” threads always come down to “I want better rewards” in the end. It’s frustrating. If they give you a challenge, then isn’t it fun to face it? Isn’t that the real point of it? Of playing the game at all? Or are you saying that for bigger rewards, you’ll do challenging content you find un-fun?
Anyway… theory time. What kind of challenging content do you really want? What would make you sit up and say “Holy kitten, this is awesome!”?
Personally, I’d like to see them borrow a page from FF Tactics, and put in a champion that’s basically T.G.Cid. Powerful sword attacks, but the nastiest are ones that not only hit for good damage, but DESTROY (unusable, needs repaired) one piece of armor when they hit. The fact is that the best players also tend to have the best gear, which makes content even easier for them. But introduce someone that starts to remove that advantage, and the ones with the best gear suddenly get more of a penalty for being hit than the moderately geared players.
If they dont add better rewards there is no longevity. Personally I will run the content for a few weeks but after the fun factor wears off the only thing that would keep me going back is better loot. Of course I would do the content once every few weeks but if the loot was better I would run that content at least a couple times a week.

More like they want an easier way to farm gold, more challenging content is the excuse for getting it.
Some of them, yes. But I think some really do want a challenge. They spent the time to build up their character and learn the skills, only to find there’s nothing that challenges them to their full potential. It’s like building a race car and learning to drive it, only to find that you’ll have no place to race it. For the people that feel that, it has to be frustrating.
Those mainly in this thread want exclusive skins they can sell and probably better drops in general.
Which is typical of raiders as they farm instances over and over again.

The thing is you guys make it sounds there is anything difficult.
Sure things are difficult the first 10 times you done it. Nothing is difficult after you did the same thing 100 times.
And I should be rewarded more for doing pug. Why should those people who do farm status premade be rewarded more. They are doing easier content than me with 4 other good player.
Exactly, once you know how to do it, it’s no longer that difficult.
But like I said earlier it’s more about the gold per hour.
There are groups of gamers that play different MMOs they have enough members to organise most things in an MMO.
Whats wrong with that?
It means that if you make exclusive geared grouped content, such groups can farm it with little effort in getting a group together.
So not all players are on an equal footing.
If you didnt know we’re playing Guild Wars 2. How can a cosmetic set, locked behind a “difficult” dungeon, make someone unequal to another?
Either way more difficult content should ALWAYS reward better loot because you put more effort and thought into it. Unlike brain dead world boss trains or SW chest farming.
If they can be sold and the set looks good they could be worth a lot of gold.
Even if they’re account bound such groups could take others through at a price.

I am quite sure hat the vast majority of players does not want really hard content. Really hard content would mean: not farm-able, no speed clears and each run would feel like the first one.
I think most people want content that is more profitable and with restricted accessibility to rule marker segments as soon as they start to talk about challenging/hard content.
And the players that want hard content, want that also mostly just when they can
get much more loot/money there than anywhere else. Mostly it must be also
“exclusive” loot, so they can show off how great they are in front of all those
unworthy noobs ^^and what’s wrong with that? you made it sound wrong, but with simple logic thinking, there’s nothing wrong.
The problem with it is that some individuals that know people IRL and as such can organise groups easily will have an unfair advantage. It also allows some groups to farm them creating a lot of wealth for themselves.
Raiders don’t care about how difficult it is, at least in the long run they care about how much gold they can make per hour.
I have no idea how know people IRL is an unfair advantage LOL.
i guess having better PC, better mouse, better house, better internet are all unfaire advantage which should be removed.and all activities in game that awards gold should be moved as well.
btw, why do people run FoTM? they don’t make more gold then people who run dungeons. i know, the answer is so clear.
There are groups of gamers that play different MMOs they have enough members to organise most things in an MMO.
