I don’t really wonder, I know. Its because some people judge a group by the behavior of a minority within that group.

Not really. It’s because farmers make the game worse for everyone else.

Even ignoring the economic impact farmers have, the fact is that farmers allow MMO developers to make mediocre content that said developers know will sell. That’s because farmers don’t need fun content, they are happy playing mediocre content as long as they get a shiny reward in the end.

For everyone else, who would actually like to have a good game… Well, those players are told to find something else to play, MMOs are for grinders only. Until the grinders go find the next MMO to grind, leaving behind an empty game devoured by locusts.

I think most farmers are quite okay. They’re doing what they enjoy.

I wonder if a Skinner rat actually enjoys the action of pressing its little lever.

Idk how to respond to this. Your unbiased opinion and generalizing have left me at a standstill in ways of replying.

I just hit 80. I don’t have enough gold/karma to buy exotic armor. I go out and buy gems to convert to gold and then effectively pay to get max gear. ’’Pay2win’’

Or, Im level 30, fed up with trudging through zones, so I go out and buy gems, convert, and max out all the crafting disciplines with crafting boosters. I just paid2win my way to level 80.

Also, skins are part of the non existent end game. They’re probably one of the easier to attain goals in this game. Armor at least. Some weapon skins are priced ridiculously.

What will people be saying once even they can’t seem to find many people in LA much less anywhere else on these servers. The naysayers will still be looking at the level label placed on the server and yell “but it says full! what are you talking about?!”

I almost never see anyone on my server and it’s been one of the most full unofficial RP servers I can only imagine what it’s like on a low pop server where everyones guesting somewhere else.

I also don’t understand what the delay is on the rewards system, Why are we still waiting on something as simple as that?

It’s no wonder people are talking about playing other games while they are waiting for them to take these things seriously at this point. There’s only so much patience gamers have.

People won’t be saying anything. Most will just move on with the fact that the game is beyond dead and will play something else

I was never one to complain about buffs but from the unofficial release notes, it looks like almost every class is getting a ton of buffs and it’s a little disturbing.

Yes, ArenaNet in the past has nerfed many skills to the point of uselessness. But this patch seems to be going to the opposite extreme of making everything overpowered.

You can say no problem we all needed some buffs, but just remember the monsters will probably be buffed too.

Since I have an 80 of each class I’ll have a lot of new stuff to play with if all these changes are made. Hope they don’t make the game worse in the long run though.

Did you read the notes for Rangers? Ouch. I bet they were hoping for positive changes and instead they got spit in the face. I only leveled mine up for farming anyways, but I guess I’ll have to wait another 6 months until Anet decides to make them viable.

I try to help other people with stuff like this. My biggest reason being I had to level pretty much alone for majority of my way to 80. Empty zones, anti social players who won’t even respond to ’’hey’’ in map chat and because I know the feeling of not being able to get a sp because the surrounding veterans demolished me.

Sure Im an kitten from time to time because my server falls for the dumbest kitten, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be helpful. Makes me remember GW1. How helpful the community was, how social and lively it was every day logging in. How complete strangers would help me with a mission, then before leaving would open trade and show me 10k. ’’Here’s a bit to get you get started’’.

GW2, you’re lucky to get a response from someone telling you ‘’no, I cant help you’’

So I’ve spent a considerable amount of time farming with MF and without. With MF, I ran upwards of 420%+. Never once out of all my runs did I notice a SIGNIFICANT difference in drops. Differences were usually 1-2 extra t6 mats, or 1-2 less. Me personally, I salvaged my MF gear and don’t bother with it anymore. Just curious how you guys feel.

And yes, I’ve seen and heard of the people getting precursors with MF on. Then they swear by it and say it works. The way I see that is having a priest bless me with holy water and then winning the lottery the next day.

Why do people stop playing GW2?

I’m not missing the point. I’m saying that even with everything Rift added in the first year, there’s still more content in Guild Wars 2 at launch

You missed the point in your second sentence.

From my very first post I was trying to say that Rift added more content in its first year. You took it a different way for some reason.

Edit: That period is not a comma.

But if Rift added more content in a year than Guild Wars 2 did and still had less than Guild Wars 2 at launch it’s irrelevant how much they added. They still had less than Guild Wars 2 at launch.

As I said, if you have a tiny, well polished game, it’s easier to add stuff….but if the stuff they added was still less than Guild Wars 2 had at launch, how is that bragging rights? How is that admirable? It’s just a different way of doing things.

Guild Wars 2 put out more content up front and spent time working on fixing it, Rift put out less content and fixed it as it went. In the end, there’s still more to do over all in Guild Wars 2 than their was in Rift after ten months. And if you’re not a raider that’s a whole lot more.

This doesn’t change the fact that they tried to cram GW2 with stuff. Stuff thats meaningful and stuff thats useless. When you give a fat kid the last slice of cake after he’s eaten a whole pizza, he might not want the cake. GW2 gave us so much to do, but once we started doing all these things they turned out to be fluff, bad, RNG influenced etc. The things we were left with that didn’t get screwed over on, are mediocre at best and definitely not good enough to hold a player over long enough. This is why people quit but Anet/NCsoft couldn’t care less. There are still tons of players dropping hefty amounts of real life $$ on what many people call ’’useless’’. Yeah it’s a subjective term, but so many players eat it up. GW2 is bound to fall flat on its face. Right now it’s on a hospital bed dying and the doctors only care about how much the family will pay for treatment. We the players, especially GW1 veterans are the family and the doctors are NCsoft/Anet. They might care a little about the situation we’re in, but ultimately they care about the dollar signs people keep throwing them. I wouldn’t be surprised if 6 months down the road, LA is only occupied by players wearing quaggan hats and flashy town clothes

How have the farming nerfs affected you?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Balkanwarrior.5132

The farming nerfs have affected me greatly. I am a farmer. If I have the time to spend, I have no problems going out and killing the same mobs for loot. I actually like doing this. Just as long as I can make decent $$ off it, I seriously love farming. Why do I love farming? Because I like havings lots of armor and wep skins to play with. If I have no money, I can’t buy new weapon/armor skins.

Sure people say ‘’oh I make enough money through just playing the game’’. I want screenshots and/or video of you normally playing the game and having enough $$ to buy full exotic armor, weps, trinkets etc. See, Im not denying that you can do this, but Im not going to spend a month casually playing just to make 15g.

All in all, I log in, do my daily, chat with peeps and log out. I really really hope they fix the farming situation because farmers are players too. I can probably get away with saying farmers are sometimes the more dedicated players as well. Until they start touching the farming issue, GW2 is a game that I click on when I need to kill 30-45min.

Ok so since I got an infraction point and realize that I should be an upstanding member of this forum, I’ve got an idea for the new armor that’s coming in the gemstore.

You put these tokens into rng boxes that can only be bought in the gemstore with gems.

Heroes in GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Balkanwarrior.5132

So this topic has been brought up many times now, I want some of the negatives of heroes being brought in. As it stands now, Im finishing up my guardian. Started from lv 39 last week and leveled him up through cooking + map exploration.

Now, along my travels, I would come across skill points that I could not solo. Fine, I would just ask in guild chat if anybody could give me a hand and more often then not it would be all good. Id get my skill point, thank the person and move onto the next zone to get 100% in.

Then I started getting into the lv50+ areas. No biggie. Playing alone 99% of the time, maybe seeing 1-2 people around the map I was still able to get the map done, but my god did it ever suck. First, everybody needs to accept the fact that many many zones, are DEAD. I still see people try and dispute this and it baffles me. It’s one thing to clear a gigantic map solo once or twice, but when that’s all you’ve been doing for multiple days, it gets old quick. If I had heroes with me, Id at least be able to clear these maps quicker and not be alone in a volcano overrun by destroyers.

I know the most popular counter argument to heroes is ’’It’ll kill social interaction!‘’ But the trading post already did that and with this many zones dead, I don’t see what social interaction it’s killing. People also say that heroes would replace real players in dungeons and the only thing I have for this point is to make dungeons a wee bit harder. I know asking Anet to actually work on the game is scary to even fathom, but stepping away from town clothes and rng in the gemstore for a second could do this game good. Yeah it’s their business model, yeah they make tons of $$ off it, but I can strongly bet that in the next 6 months, if nothing worthwhile gets done to this game, It will be dead.

I know nobody from anet actually replies to posts that don’t praise them like Jesus, and Im fine with that. If I had the mental capacity of a potato I wouldn’t want to argue with another person either. But just think, You can keep doing the RNG crap and making your money, just as long as you give the player base some incentives to go out there and play

Where's GW1 in GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Balkanwarrior.5132

Balkanwarrior.5132

I had never played Guild Wars before i started GW2, I just wanted to see where world of GW2 came from but GW did not meet my expectations. Anet intended GW2 to be a SOCIAL game, what cant be said about GW because it is not even MMO well almost, its like playing CS with hamachi. All private instances in GW are terrible and limit player interaction, just admit how many time you’ve be revived by a stranger, or you have done the same thing to them. Guild Wars 2 was meant to be SOCIAL MMO

Anet intended GW2 to be a social game? Majority of the time I go into LA it’s quiet. Maybe a few people who know eachother are talking in /say but I can literally count on my hands how many times in the past week map chat has been lively for me. (protip, it was only active because I got sick of the silence and started trolling). I even guested on Tarnished Coast and while the map chat there was a bit better, I realized it was just 3 people arguing over computer technology. I should have taken a screen to show you the 50+ people standing around, and map chat being dominated by 3 names.

I will admit though, I think I bought the game 8 months ago? I clearly remember zones not being as dead as they are now, and more people talking. But that was 8 months ago when the game wasn’t dying.

Also, count how many times I got revived by a stranger? Lol Your post reeks of hatred towards GW1. Instead of making intelligent remarks, you’re ignorantly stating the things you dont like. I get that everybody has an opinion, and I love that we all do. But in the future, try to state your opinion without being this ignorant.

And interfere with their excellent business model? lolno. We can only wait and see what direction the game goes in. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the gem store profit is put into wildstar development and gw2 is left in its current state with more temporary content being shoved at us. Some people that have quit said they’ll come back in a year and see if things get better…so wait another year I guess. Play once a week and try to enjoy the time you spend playing it. It’s not worth your sanity to keep wanting stuff from a company that’s main concern is making money.

I can’t say I have a specific number in mind for a decent return. As it is now, any area I go into the drop rates are abysmal. All im trying to suggest with this thread was for anet to look at the drop rates across the board and tweak them. Giving us more locations to spend time in and and make some gold. Lately the dragon coffers have been good because they drop often from holo farming and when they were selling for 7s/ea it was great, but im trying to look at the long run here, seeing as how this festival is temporary

Of course, there are people who play this game without farming and still seem to have a good time. I don’t so how that fits with your “thesis”.

Oh, I know. Maybe there are different types of players who play games for different reasons. Or is that too implausible for you?

Im not trying to say people can’t have fun without farming. You’re trying to pick that argument out of your arsenal of retorts to try and shut my post down. Then you try and inform me that there are different strokes for different folks so you can try and be condescending. You never directly replied to the main message of the post which was asking if we could maybe have more spots to farm that are actually viable

I replied to part of the message of your post. The rest of your post has already been contradicted by other people.

I don’t farm, and I have money in this game. That’s a contradiction. But I’m far more interested in the fact that you tried to pre-emptively shut down all argument by calling them invalid before they were voiced….afterwhich you call ME condescending.

That’s pretty funny, all things considered.

Read the last thing you wrote. ‘’Oh, I know.’’ which means you’re behind that keyboard getting ready to educate me. ‘’Maybe there are different types of players who play games for different reasons’’ Next, you point out a piece of information that I’d assume is common sense. You saw that I didn’t directly imply it myself though, so you felt the need to bring it up yourself and remind me of it. (Again, as if I didn’t already know people have different reasons for playing) and then you top it off with ‘’Or is that too implausible for you?’’

Seriously bud, your comments read like you’re some unemployed liberal art degree holder on reddit. Voicing their opinion of every post/thread in the righteous name of ’’LOOKMOMIMARGUINGONTHEINTERNET’’

Then again, I should have known better than try and post my POV on the official arena net forums. It’s ok. I’ll keep the post up AND let you have the last word. I know it means a lot to a person like you

If u make only 2g in 5 hours u are definitely doing something wrong.
There are enough farm locations which make a nice amount of gold. But other than the ones u mentioned there’s no get rich quick scheme.
Do chestevents, farm nodes, farm easy t6 mobs.

There’s more than enough to do. It just depends at what rates u wanna make gold.
U can farm charged lodes near arah, farm corrupted lodes in frostgorge, farm skells/karka’s on ssc. All give a decent return (although luck is required).
Farm loads of mobs for coffers and hope on wings and sell m etc etc

corrupted lodes in frostgorge have been nerfed, charged lodestones I never got 1 to drop after many many tries and shells/karka havent been profitable for a while now.

And saying something like ‘’luck is required’’, you make it sound like players can just flip a switch and have good luck for 24 hours

If you want to make money in this game you have 2 choices. Farm cof p1 or play the trading post. Seeing as how a big part of endgame content in GW2 is grinding for skins which more often than not requires money, why are we SEVERELY limited in the ways we can make money. Im not asking for every monster to drop t6 mats, but just a little consideration for the players who want to log on, kill monsters for an hour and make a bit of money. You can’t always log on and do cof p1 runs because you’re at the mercy of the group and the groups pace. By allowing us to farm like regular mmo players we can kill monsters at our own pace and not feel restricted in our ways to make money.

Im not asking for everything to be made easier, for t6 mats to go down in price or trying to subtly imply that i need things handed to me on a silver platter. Im just saying, think of giving the players some variety. GW1 I could farm raptors, vaettirs,ToPk, 55 monk various locations (trolls, jade brotherhood, undead outside bergens), and many other things. GW2 I have all these enemies I can kill, but after 5 hours of doing so, I’ll be lucky to make a 2g profit.

inb4 just run cof p1 and shut up
inb4 but you dont need skins to play the game

The game is becoming a Grind

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Balkanwarrior.5132

Balkanwarrior.5132

I know that there are MMOs that require more grinding, but wasn’t the original idea of GW2 to reduce grinding as much as possible?

First we got those merchants in Southsun that sell stuff for Karka Shells, and a Ancient Karka Shell for 1K shells, and now, we got these wings that cost 100K candy.

Let’s look at some Mystic recipes, not including the Gifts, most of them require 250 T6 materials, and you know what that means, go to Orr, Southsun or Frostgore maybe and kill everything that moves, over and over again.

Why not use a system that will give us materials for Karma?

For example, we could have something called “Multiplicator” that creates 1-10 of certain materials in Mystic Forge, and you could buy this “Multiplicator” for 200K karma, or some laurels.

It will somewhat speed the grinding process, and instead of having to grind one type of enemies over and over, you can spend Karma to get them.

Sure, you might have to grind Karma then, but you can earn Karma anyway you like, daily, monthly, events, dungeons, and in my opinion it’s a lot better that standing in Orr or Southsun whole day and killing everything that moves.

But, running around Orr,Southsun or Frostgorge ARE NOT viable ways to make steady money/mats. Unless you’re into spending 5 hours farming just to get 1 corrupted lodestone and 5 vicious claws. Then by all means go mutilate yourself trying to get whatever you’re trying to get

New legendary skins?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Balkanwarrior.5132

Balkanwarrior.5132

Several of the legendary skins are already designed for one class in particular.
The Pistol is clearly meant for the mesmer, shield for guardian, rifle for warrior., horn for hunter.
Then you have a few that are for 12 y/o girls, with all the flowers, rainbows and unicorns.

I can understand you wanting one that fits your character, as an engineer main, not only does the class not have a fitting legendary but if I was to waste the time and resources getting one. I wouldn’t even see it most of the time due to kits.

Your post is baseless an asinine.

The horn is made for the hunter? Uh, it would work splendidly with the necromancer. Shield would work just fine with a warrior. ??? Your opinion I suppose, but I think it is hilarious.

And the bows, Im assuming youre referring to regarding flowers and unicorns, are for 12 year olds? Again, wtf? Seriously? What about a female that plays this game that wants a unicorn or thinks the flowers from Kudzo(sp) are pretty..go for it. Personally I think the longbow legendary is nice, and Im a dude. I am going after the legendary shortbow for my thief because I use a shortbow in any build and weapon set, and while some might think flying unicorns is …I’ll leave the next word/adjective to you, but I think it is kind of cool. I agree, a little goofy, but pretty unique if you ask me. I dont want to get the pistol because I don’t use the pistol in every build, same with dagger.

It’s fine and dandy that you think it’s unique. I don’t judge people for playing on the same team. I think what that guy and many of us want are weapons that are a bit more mature themed. Or at least, not goofy enough to have others question our sexuality

I farmed under water in southsun and best run I ever had made me about ~14 gold after 6-7 hours. I consider that a very lucky run because I got the chance to do 2 more 6 hour sessions and didn’t break 10g either time. Idk how you would make 100g per day.

Oh wait, you dont. At least, not from farming southsun

Put a box in the gemstore that GUARANTEES me a weapon ticket. If I wanted to kitten money away in hopes of winning something, Id go to a casino. I am not going to gamble 100g on gems just for a slight chance at getting a decent weapon skin.

Here’s what I think. In GW1 when I had all the time in the world, I would dedicate entire days and nights to farm. I was a young teen who wanted to play a game he enjoyed and make some money so I could buy stuff that I wanted. I would 55 monk farm trolls, farm raptors on my warrior, vaettirs on my sin and one day, when I was sitting on a healthy sum of gold, I started to powertrade. From that day forward I never again had to farm to make money. In a little over a year I went from having a few nice things, to owning some very sought after weapons and enough money to easily put me in the top 10% wealthiest player pool.

In GW2 it’s a whole new ballgame. I can still farm sure, but lord almighty is it TOTALLY NOT WORTH MY TIME. I started with the icebrood elementals in frostgorge sound. Running upwards of 370% MF I spent well over 200 hours farming here. On average from what I could come up with, every 2 hours would reward me with ~1.5g. This is with corrupted lodestone drops noted, vicious claws, rares salvaged or sold. Here’s what bothered me though. 2-3g was a GOOD run. The average run would net me 1.5 due to corrupted lodestones barely dropping. Am I really supposed to spend 2 hours just to make 2-3g IF im lucky?

Then I went off to southsun. I saw that you could get a 200% mf boost and thought, ‘’wow, I’ll be getting a kittenload of rares and exos now’’. Here’s my experience with how that went. 6 hours of intense instigator zerging, event farming and general mob brutality towards the karka. 2 exotics which were the settler gear things, 5 rares I think it was and a bunch of mats. In this 6 hour period, I pulled off something like 7g which I thought was great, but then I remembered, I only made this much because of the zerg moving through events and bosses so quickly and efficiently. Solo play I could only dream of making that much in 6 hours.

The day after this 6 hour extravaganza, I wanted to see if my MF gear investment was worth it. Lo and behold after 45 min, I got similar amounts of t6 mats as yesterday and a mini reef rider. MF % this time around = 41%. Now, I know saying this isn’t very reputable information to base all claims on, but I’ve farmed enough and spent enough time to make the decision that for me personally, MF is not worth it. The way I see it now is, my chances of better drops with insane MF% is 0.00005%. Without MF, my chances drop to 0.00001%

I stayed farming at southsun for another ~100 hours or so. Got 2 more reef riders to drop, more exotic settler gear and random rares. Also made 7g back from selling the sigils on my MF gear.

Now back to the topic at hand, give us some decent farming spots. If you want to fuxk with numbers, go fuxk with RNG boxes. You guys like to do that, so keep doing that. Let us have some spots where we farm and make VIABLE money. This game is casual ffs, you guys are just turning it into a dress up with terribad droprates across the board. You can still cater to the idiots that drop obscene amounts of money to dress their character kawaii as can be. But think of the rest of your playerbase. If not, my account will get sold for a 40oz of vodka so I can party on the weekend. I know saying something like that doesn’t mean much to you big important anet people , but with how the game is right now, this option appeals to me more, day after day.

TL;DR GIVE US SOME PLACES TO FARM WHERE THE DROP RATE ISNT 0.00005%
