Just guest to Tarnished coast for your world bosses/other pve stuff. I’ve been doing it for the past few days and its been great. Doing world bosses with more than 15 people feels amazing. My home server is in denial of how bad things are. They like to say stuff like, ‘’oh it’s just quiet right now’’ or, ‘’You know people have lives outside of the game right?’’ Yeah 24/7 and its just quiet all the time right?

As for the server capacities, Tarnished coast and blackgate both drop from full population pretty often every week. Just check up on it now and then and you should be able to squeeze in.

I really hope whats been said in this thread comes to fruition. It would be beyond amazing if I could log in, go to orr, and wreck some baddies for some DECENT LOOT. WITH OTHER PLAYERS. PLAYING TOGETHER. HELPING ONE ANOTHER KILL THE MONSTERS.

inb4 somebody tells me I can log in and get decent loot from orr right now. You go farm there for a few hours and tell me how much you make.

Reskinning here we come. First the flower backpack now the fellblade….It’s not even a year and the reskinning is starting…srsly?…Get better designers then or something, can’t believe they can’t come up with something original.

I’m gonna derail the thread now with a positive story

I’ve been recording my mystic toilet stuff over the months. I have been keeping them to myself, but seeing as how I’ve gone off GW2 in liu of the recent grind additions I figure I’ll share my data.

I’ve made ~950 rare-on-rare combinations (lvl 80 rares, always same-type). Of which i received no precursors (0% success rate).

I’ve also made 131 exotic-on-exotic combines (Level 76-80, usually same-type). Of which I received 4 precursors (~3% success rate).

Of the precursors I recieved:

• x1 Lover in 10 shortbow combines
• x1 Legend in 26 staff combines
• No Dawn or Dusk in 14 greatsword combines
• x1 Colossus in 15 hammer combines
• No leaf of Kudzu in 15 longbow combines
• No Chosen after 31 shield combines
• No Spark in 3 dagger combines
• No Hunter in 14 rifle combines
• x1 Storm in 3 mixed-exotic combines.

In total I spent 556g on exotics to flush into the mystic toilet, and made a net profit of ~1,450g

In conclusion
If you want a precursor, you gotta chuck exotics in there, you’re wasting your time and resources on rares, and if you do that, you might just come out with a profit (I wasn’t even doing the combines because I needed them, I was in it for the money)

Colossus after 40g~ worth of rares
Leaf of kudzu after 60g worth of rares
Spark after 140g worth of rares

In conclusion, if you want a precursor, just know that your chances suck either way and its all about RNG. Sorry but the higher percentage from using exotics could only be a 0.0005% increase for all we know

Imo, using exotics is a waste. Your chances are so slim either way, you might as well use rares and sell the exotics to buy more rares and keep trying.

Its a conspiracy. They dont want us farming and getting actual rares so they’ve put in support tickets to trick us.

I’ve farmed for 2 hours each day over the past 3 days. In 2 hours I got anywhere from 9-13 powerful bloods. I really hope that with the upcoming nerf to cof, they come to their senses and and fix the usual spots. However this is me dreaming. We will most likely see more nerfs and people will be encouraged to buy gems and convert to gold.

They dont want us ’’grinding’’ and it’s pretty apparent they want to make traditional farming obsolete. Poor choice on their part, but what can we do? We aren’t part of the community that buys their in game gold. Therefore we’re just a number in Anets eyes. At least the people who buy their gold are numbers with dollar signs attached

Thanks for the replies everybody. Only reason I asked is because Im currently trying to sell a precursor and everytime it gets close, another 3-4 pop out of nowhere and get listed. Once those sell, another will get added, and another, and the cycle has been going on like this for the past 6 days. I guess the forge is just popping this one out pretty easily

What I do is I undercut by half of the difference between the buy order and lowest sell order.

So buy order of dusk is 550g
Sell order is 620g
I’ll list it at 585G
But you also need to look at the selling history and see if the current buy/sell orders are within reason. Sometimes the market is adjusting downwards after some fool thought they could corner the precursor market.

I used this method on selling two dusks. I also used it on Zap, but that failed because I didn’t realize the market was correcting itself downward.

I did exactly what you described with the last 2 precursors I sold. First one sold in a matter of hours, the second in less than a day. I guess I did get greedy with this one and listed it 50s below the next but im confident that this one would have sold relatively quickly as well. The issue this time around is how many are getting listed everyday. I’ll probably have to relist and bite the bullet for another 30g listing fee. Idk, it just struck me as odd. I wouldn’t think that precursors can have this much competition out of the blue, especially this much competition over 6 days. You would think that the forge is popping these out at a higher than normal rate.

Keep in mind that the T3 culturals are rare not exotic, and they only come in one stat as well. More likely than not anyone buying them would also need to buy exotics of the desired stats and also transmutation crystals. More money on top of the already expensive skins.

I did this only just last night!
T3 Wolfborn vest and leggings—>skins transmuted onto CoF armour —> Arah Superior Orrian runes. (Quite the expensive undertaking for my middle class self!)

Transmute crystals have cost me more then some people will ever see in their banks

I do wvw maybe twice a month for 1 hour at a time, spvp I havent touched in months. Maybe if they bring back the pvp that Guild Wars is known for, I’ll get back into pvp. Till then, pvp doesnt even exist in gw2 in my eyes

Ok we need to be reassured of a few things here

If you don’t plan on buying anything flashy, casually playing this game will net you enough gold to survive. If you however want vision of the mists, t3 cultural, *insert whatever other item you want that costs a decent amount, its going to take you a while to casually earn all that gold.

The 2 things I listed above were examples and a better example would be wanting to buy something like Aether. All you casual players tell me how long it takes you to make the gold needed to buy that. Oh whats that? You dont want/need to buy that? Well thats weird, because some people do want to buy that and thats their set goal. Replying with something like ‘’But you dont need to buy thakittens just a skin’’ is not a proper rebuttal either.

If you have 50 gold and all you need money for is repairs, wp’s and consumables, the OP’s concern doesnt affect you and you shouldnt post in this thread. If you geared up all your characters 8 months ago and have been saving every penny since with nothing to buy, this thread doesnt concern you. If you have to do world bosses and cof p1 runs everyday to keep chipping away at buying whatever weapon/mini/tonic etc you want, then this thread affects you.

Making gold at a decent rate in GW2 consists of flipping on the TP and cof p1 farming. Anything else is casual and if you plan on getting anything that costs a pretty penny you’re going to be chipping away for a while. But that doesn’t concern some of you because you play casually and you have no problem with waiting 3 months to buy said item. That isn’t a bad thing, it’s just that not everybody plays casually and or has the patience to play that long just to afford 1-2 things

This wouldn’t happen if Anet would give us more than 1 way to make decent gold in this game. What, am I supposed to do world bosses for 5 months until I can afford that 1 weapon I want? Give me a break. Farming monsters in Orr for 1 hour will barely give you 1 gold. Farming icebrood in frostgorge will give you a corrupted lodestone once every 3 hours.

Sure the farmers telling you to leave is wrong, but they’re in the same position as you most likely. They have a goal and they want to achieve it. It just so happens thanks to nerfnet, both parties have limited opportunities in achieving said goals.

I got the colossus after about 40g worth of rares. Then I got Leaf of Kudzu after 20g of rares. Earlier today, I spent 230g on rares, jumping from shields, rifles, short bows, and finally daggers until RNG gifted me another precursor, Spark.

I was reading a post on this forum about someone refusing to buy their precursor due to the seller most likely being undeserving of the gold they’re selling for and to that I say…

The only system to the toilet is getting extremely lucky and then resisting to urge to keep throwing gold at it in hopes of getting something good. As much as you THINK you’ll get something good, the odds are you wont. No point in trying to beat the house

At least it doesn’t descend to the depths of tradechat in WoW. I’ve been on three servers and have found TC to be the most mature culturally. That said, teens, trolls, teen trolls, all seem to hang out in cities and starter areas. Human areas are by far the worst (spoken in my best Rytlock imitation). Once you outside everything improves. Yes, my block list is growing, but, I’ve seen worse in other games.

Trolls make sitting in main towns entertaining. If you still catch feelings over words on the internet you should seek help. I really am just trying to get away from the community that takes up a lot of my server. I’ve been to TC before and its probably my only choice atm

Remember Crab Toss? The skilled players—-the ones who earned all the achievements legitimately—-had no trouble winning. Meanwhile, the low-skill players were constantly whining about “trading off achievements” and “helping” each other in what was intended to be a competitive game, some going so far as to curse out those players who attempted to enjoy the game as intended!

It’s amusing to me how the players who are the worst at this game are so often also the ones so obsessive about “looking good” with achievements, skins, weapons, etc. It’s a lot like a guy in real life who makes minimum wage, with no further aspirations or work ethic, yet takes out massive loans in order to “look good” driving around in a fancy car/truck. The achievements leaderboard is not and will not ever be competitive. Why? Because it is a time based achievement which heavily favors those who started playing the game earlier. You think someone who starts gw2 today has a chance? No.

There is nothing competitive about the Achievements. Don’t delude yourself into thinking otherwise.

Erm, I see your sig. I got more exotics to drop without MF in southsun vs while I was wearing MF gear. Does this mean I can parade around telling people that what I’ve experienced is factual? MF did very little for me over the course of 300+ farming hours. The only consistency I noticed was more greens. At the end of the day, it’s still a numbers game when talking about drops. Personally IMO, drop rates for precursors especially, are way too low for MF to significantly affect. Maybe if we could document a small playerbase of farmers. couple hundred hours with and without mf gear. I could probably bet on both sides coming out equal give or take some greens/crafting materials. MAYBE 1-2 extra rares for either side, and MAYBE a few exotics scattered throughout the entire group.

Also, earlier today my server was doing a temple. Forget which one but I got a charged lodestone as a drop. 0% MF and several people in chat pinged their fully geared MF stuff beforehand. (we were having a discussion about drops).

At this point, I personally wouldn’t care if they brought back all my favorite skins and new ones. If they want to be greedy and continue to put this crap in rng boxes, Im out. Not playing the lottery just so I can have my character looking nice. I dont like gambling unless im the one profiting off the suckers playing. Anybody who always argues with ’’it’s just skins!‘’. You tell me what I should do after I go through all the content thats offered to me. That’s right. it’s time to play dress up and spend some of that money I made from spamming 1 in dungeons

I’m thinking about selling The Minstrel (focus) for 1200g, but the listing fee makes me cringe. ~_~ There also seem to be a huge amount of flippers which is even more discouraging. Just makes it hard to price things in general. I wish we had the ability to trade with others…like item for item. I’d gladly trade The Minstrel for another legendary of equal value…perhaps like The Moot (mace), but doubt that feature is going to be added (anytime soon).

Im just waiting to see if they’ll give us some actual farming spots. The mystic forge pooped out the colossus for me earlier so Im good for money now, but I would like some spots to farm in now and again. Spots that don’t take 3 hours of farming to get 1 corrupted lodestone. (Frostgorge coughcough). CoF p1 is all fine and dandy, but when its the only viable option to make decent money, it gets to be more of a chore then anything after doing it for the thousandth time
