@Grackleflint, you are correct in hot joins and against inexperienced teams turrets are amazing. The downside is that you give up so much utility to pickup things that a decent aoe bomb will clear out. The worst part about turrets, is that a smart Necro will condition bomb it and than epidemic off your turrets onto an entire team. Because turrets can’t dodge or block they are easy targets for necromancers.

It is done to minions and ranger pets all the time. I ran a few bunker engineer builds with turrets and it’s hilarious in terms of knockbacks.

I want to clarify because I think you misread my reply. I play tournament play with organized teams and against organized teams ranks 40-50 and do quite well. My comment about inexperienced players was in reference to winning 1v3s on occasion. I’m pretty sure I didn’t mention hotjoin. Also, even the best bunker builds cannot hold out 1v3 for very long. This is where team tactics come in and knowing when to ditch and leave a node to be of more use somewhere else.

Regarding bombs or other AOEs, if someone can hit all 3 of my turrets with 1 AOE, they’re hacking. My ranged turret is 900 or more off of the CP, my control turret is 400-600, and my dps turret is in the center. It’s never been a problem.

As for the necromancer I understand the risk I’m running, but with aggressive play I can prevent most necromancers from setting something like this up. I’m also fine with them hitting my whole team with Epidemic because after that set up I can drop Healing Turret and overcharge it to wipe 2 condis from up to each of 5 players. I sometimes detonate whatever turret they’re loading up with conditions because of this, but it’s usually not worth worrying about.

I think we just found a future guest. Holy cow this is amazing information for players who want to try turrets in tournament play. I have been screwing around with a P/D bunker Turret Engi, and in some cases it’s amazing, but in others I get totally wrecked. I use thumper, net, and rocket.

Unfortunately a rank 41 can kill two rank 20’s ;p. We found after the first even tthat too many times the high ranked players ended up beating the lower ranked so easily. The goal of the tournament is to bring in more casual gamers. A rank 41 is already so good it’s scary, now anyone over rank 35 can offer to coach!

Nice signups so far, good to see some active EU Rangers. The chance to play with Battosai coaching is amazing!

I think it was Bas talking about how he liked to stack them in an area in PvE with his healing Turret, and then he could whack heal them all with the tool Kit auto attack when they lost health! In that way making them last for longer in theory that is ^^

While I have done that before, the situation in that regard was not that way. I didn’t wack them with the toolkit. I found that by nesting them near my healing turret the self-repair trait worked better. I also would end up with a ranged player standing near my turrets then and thus protecting the turrest with his CC. We had a necro who kept going down. I dropped my healing turret stacked Rifle and Rocket next to it, than he stayed between them. When guys got close he feared them away.

I am unsure of this, but it seemed my healing turret was healing my turrets. Is this incorrect?

Actually Chopps, I think you did great. No offence to Bas, but there were a few times he said, “let me interrupt you for a minute there” in the middle of your dialogue, lol. Wanted to hear more from you!

Bas, I love your podcasts. If I could make a suggestion: could you lead the conversation at a guided and steadier pace? I’ve noticed a few spots where you would ramble on, and I got a little antsy when a few moments went by without Chopps’ input (“God, when will he let Chopps talk?” went through my head a few times). Granted, this was just in the beginning, and then I think nearing the end of the episode everyone started to chime in equal amounts, which is great. This is your podcast, so take this with a grain of salt.

While I appreciate the kind words, I don’t host this podcast :P. Jin Drake and Battosai do. I will definitely let him know that he has picked up my rambling way of asking questions. It’s definitely something they are working on.
