Isle of Janthir could use some more NA coverage as well. We are a strong oceanic server but lack an EU/NA primetime. There are a few NA guilds on the server but we are lacking compared to most of the other T2 teams. With some more numbers we could make a good solid push on the rankings as we are still keeping up despite our lack of those 2 timezones. Also there is almost never a queue for borderlands around that time frame other than reset night. And at most only one borderland has a queue outside of reset nights.

Reading through all the glitching issues BG really just needs to disown the guilty parties. If iCoa wants to remain an accepted guild they really need to kick the responsible mesmers out, which doesnt seem to have happened at all. And if BG as a server wants stay an accepted server then they need to do something about iCoa until they deal with their issues, such as boycotting the guild for the time being or some sort.

I personally don’t accuse BG as a server as cheating. Are there people that take a mesmer portal without questions and not knowing better? yes. Are there people that knew better as well? I am sure there are. Every server has their bad eggs. The issue is how the server deals with said bad eggs.

/wave it was funny after that duel when we moved to greenbriar. Kept getting “WTF” in guild chat when you kept healing yourself through the damage of 5 people. Would duel you again but would require a massive gear overhall and trait switch to do so without blowing my own face off.

Please dont listen to charlieprince. I swear you wouldnt think he is actually from IoJ with the way he puts the server down. Our main timeslot is still oceanic, where we lost the most was our EU coverage. Which is why at 5est we start sucking bad. As far as being anything less than a t2 server i say hell no. We are still putting in kitten good fights and considering it is tuesday and only about 10k short of first it is a huge boost in confdence. If we we got some more EU and NA coverage we could make a push for higher placing.

Hammer Boost

Being someone that completely hated the hammer at first, I can understand alot of the complaints with it. However after really learning how to play it I really don’t think it needs a buff and is fine right where it is.

1. Fine for a combo, 3rd hit is a little slow but hits like a truck an gives you AoE protection + a combo field to combo retaliation for #2
2. Small leap, good damage, blast finisher.
3. pretty good CC, not super useful for PVE unless you need to run, GREAT for pvp/wvw. 1,200 range immobilize on a melee weapon.
4: Decent for PvE, works as a knockdown when used into a wall or Ring of warding. Great for WvW for throwing people off siege/cliffs.
5: Personally I use this as a combo field for #2 most of the time and thats about it for PvE. WvW and PvP this skill is great. It is actually really easy to set up but does need other skills to do so. #3 → #5 will lock them in, as will #5 and casting Judges Intervention to teleport ontop of the enemy to lay it down. The dodge rolling out of it does need to be fixed but does not always work, and with the judge’s intervention combo almost everyone is going to run into it the first time as it just appears on them.

Overall I think hammer just suits a more CC mindset but still can dish out decent AoE damage. The biggest thing is that it needs to be paired with the right utilities and proper weapon switch timing.

If you are looking for a WVW 1h sword build, the one that Brutaly posted is a beast. extremely good damage and very tanky. I personally run sword+ shield / Hammer with that build, mostly because I like the CC that comes with the hammer compared to scepter/offhand. Also I find running Judges intervention is great for pretty much every WvW build as it is a huge gap closer, decent damage burn, but also it does NOT interrupt any of your attacks, so you can cast zealot’s defense, judge in, and insure that every wave hits.

It doesn’t raise toughness. it is a straight 10% damage reduction. if you look on your buff bar it says that right in the buff. As far as I know that does apply to any damage you take so condition damage should be included.

So that would explain the excessive use of golems all of a sudden in IoJ. Felt kinda bad killing that omega build site in water after we ended up pushing SoR back… but at the same time it felt so good.

Hope that person gets banned from SM. Really sad when someone has to resort to trying to transferring and burning our supply like that.

Was just going to post the same thing as i just started running a 1h sword spec. Also does the same on target dummies. Sword wave DOES work on gates however. So not exactly sure what is causing the issue. Also, changing ranges does not seem to work. So its not a “too close too far away issue”, it just doesnt even register as hitting.

The whole ledge = no LoS really does need to go, it is rather annoying when you can get AoE blasted to death and not even be able to really attack back. Honestly the biggest issue is with AoEs and their ability to hit almost everything on a wall, save for random safe spots where you cant do much back to them. Honestly I think there should be some sort of upgrade to help damper the AoEs in some way, except for something like an arrowcart raining on a wall. Make it more or a siege battle instead of “Spam AOE here” fight.

I consider that spot an exploit when used intentionally like that. If you are fighting at any other camp and a zerg comes in you are dead. Why should that camp be special. Once you drop down you are fair game, just like for lodge or vale, there is no getting back up so why should you be able to stay invulnerable once you make the decision to go down the cliff. To equate it to running back into your spawn like the main entrance doesnt even make sense since no other exit allows you to do that other than your main. And also the main entrance does not lead to an easy backdoor to a camp like the side exits do.

Another thing it’s amazing how SoS borderlands haven’t changed since the alliance pushed out SoR. I mean we all know SoS can over power IoJ and take back their borderlands. But then again there isn’t an Alliance right?
The map is so obvious. Let’s be real people.
Also shocking how EB map hasn’t changed either. SoS and IoJ pushing out SoR.
It’s clearly my over active imagination.

Maybe things haven’t changed because we are now in NA primetime and not EU primtime. I mean, you do realize that EU is currently our weakest time slot due to a decent sized guild leaving. Can we please cut it out with this 2v1 bs? No matter what at certain times a team is going to be hit with both sides. It happens. The people controlling bay normally get it the worst as trebbing is easy from garrison and the team at lake tower is of course going to push to gain more ground. It happened in SoR bl last week reset to us and we did it to SoR on SoS bl this week. The issue is that SoS has more and thus are less vulnerable to it.

I think one of the issues SoR faces is that they try using portal way too much. It is almost starting to get predictable. Last night on SoS bl you guys tried portal bombing in the same place at ruins at least 4 times. The first time it got us. The other 3 not so much. On an assault on bay last week was literrally nothing but portal infront of the gate and turtle with the rams. Now that people are learning to counter them they are becoming weaker.

I’m sorry but i have to chime in on this, the major reason for SoR starting to portal bomb more is to counter the fact SoS portal bombs SO much…

and in no way am i complaining about it here or talking crap about SoS all I am saying is don’t frown on us for using it and saying that’s why we suck when I’ve seen 1st hand many of the major guilds on SoS use that as the solution to most everything.

Calm down there sparky. I didn’t say you guys sucked because of it, I am just saying it is starting to get predictable because it is used so much. Also, in my experience (granted I cant see everywhere all the time) SoR seems to portal bomb at every chance they get. I see it from SoS a fair share too, but not as much as I have personally seen from SoR. I am not even complaining about it in that post as it is a valid strategy at the moment, though I do have issues with the strategy personally and prefer not to use it myself.

As far as people transfering off SoR… it is only your second week in this match up… why giving up so easily? this is IoJ’s third week against SoS and we are still fighting. Although, we did have an EU guild transfer off before the reset, lost at least 2 commanders and not sure how many people. Also next week should change, BG should move down, SoS up, SoR and Ioj will continue fighting because we are pretty equal servers.

Awesome Fights so far, SoS BL has been a blast. Multiple pushes from both sides for control of the ruins, massive amounts of siege on all sides. Been fun so far tonight, hopefully it will continue like this through the entire week.

Yeah, I am all for extending the cap on AoE, Removing It I think would just make the issue worse to the other extreme, but making it 7 or 10 I think would even it out a bit. Or have some type diminishing returns where the first 5 are hit fully then it goes down to like 50% damage for everyone else hit by the skill.

i have the trait that on virtue of resolve use i lose 3 conditions, run healing signet which removes a condition every 10s, and the toughness trait that removes one every 10s as well. I also run the elite that makes me immune for 3 seconds and renews my virtues, so condition removal is easy for me. I always run “Retreat” and “judges intervention” as utilities, the third changes between “save yourselves” which is great for taking conditions off allies and giving yourself tons of boons. Or I run the shout with regen/protection… cant remember the name off the top of my head. Either way I am very ally friendly while still being able to hold my own. Just wish people would capatalize on it.

That is one thing I also noticed about IoJ. We tend to not push when we should, a few times I have jumped into an enemy group when we had larger numbers only to die because everyone else backed up instead of pushing forward. I am a cleric’s toughness/healing build guardian so i can stay up for a while despite 2-3v1 so jumping in first is generally my thing. But people need to see that when a couple people start jumping in to capatalize on it because they will get focused not you. My spec is even ally healing friendly 1.3k + to healing going out through regens and my virtue passive going to allies.

In Short, Ioj, if you see guardians jumping in, odds are they are tank builds, take advantage of the focusing on them and blow up some people. Do not retreat when we have the numbers on our side.

I dont see IoJ moving down to tier 3 for a while. Unless someone in T3 has a blow out week, It will most likely end up with Sbi/Jq/SoS in tier 1 with BG/SoR/IoJ in T2. Once SoS moves up I think things will balance out more and as Thobek said, it is going to be a game of who can hold best during the transitions of coverage.

Well what happened is we had 2 decent forces, one in our BL and the other in SoS, we managed to take both maps completly but had nothing in EB, so all of the IoJ people move to EB and some of the SoS people did as well. Then SoS came back to our BL and took everything in like 20 mins with nobody there. >.<

If you look, alot of servers really wont be moving this next week. ET and HoD dropping like rocks kinda throws some places off but there actually does seem to be a balance now. Unless some max exodus happens on another server it looks like in two weeks SoS will be moving up to T1 and BG back down to T2. Unless we at IoJ and SoR can find a way to compete.

Portal Bombing

@fixit: You can rain hell down on people on top of battlements like no other. Only this morning we needed take down some trebs on a battlement and we set up a special elementalist task force to do just that…

Incidentlly, Mesmer is one of the worst classes for attacking battlements and entrench positions for this same reason (serious lack of indirect fire)

iBerserker will spawn without LOS, so it’ll hit siege on the other side of walls.

Btw, I have 80 ele but rerolled mesmer.

^^^ love seeing groups of 3 mesmers spamming the zerker through walls to kill siege on the other side. saying they have they are the worst for attacking battlements is just wrong.

As far as portal bombing goes I have to agree, it is just overused. Fixing the culling is one thing, but the other issue is that it turns the group into an instant turtle. In that Ioj/SoR garrison battle they kept going from the roof down to the floor of the lords room and back. Hell one time we thought they had actually left but they had moved down to the floor and hadn’t rendered for 10+ seconds.

Also, the issue with trying to lay down siege to stop the portal bomb is kind of a moot point, when mesmers can just stealth, double dodge behind the siege and the resulting bomb can nuke the siege before its even usable against them. Once the culling is taken care of this might not be so much of an issue.

I do think there should be some limit or debuff associated with portals though. maybe 10 people would be fine, but not a whole zerg of 30. Or even a debuff that anyone after 5 or 10 people take extra damage from sources for a short amount of time, thus getting rid of the instant turtle stack from the portal.

Once again, This is a server pop issue, not a siege issue. Not having enough people to fight has nothing to do with the siege. Even if you removed all of it you would still get decimated by just numbers.

Agree with Morrolon on this one, sounds like your issue is server pop and not being able to control resources. Most arrowcarts on towers/keeps can be Aoe’d down with the exception of a few in random places. As Syndic says it is the only way to deal with turtle stacks as well. The siege is not an issue in this game.

From the looks of it, it just looks like IoJ is BAD.
I see GREEN in possession of natural BLUE territory and BLUE in possession of natural GREEN territory, and RED barely being able to hold anything. What does that tell you?

Getting sandwiched out of BLs isnt exactly being bad. Happened on 2 BLs during reset night. Not complaining though, it is 3 faction warfare and it happens no matter what, but it still sucks regardless. Only thing we can do about it is get more organized and just play like we expect it to happen.

…. Really? You are calling people out for playing for second not even 12 hours into the match? That makes a ton of sense. Last night before I logged Ioj’s issues were getting sandwiched off the map between the other two servers on both our BL and SoR’s BL and were down to only about 140 potential points. By the time I logged off we had reclaimed what we had in Sor BL (which included attacking both SoS and SoR) and were starting to do the same in our own on BL. (granted things have changed already)

So please stop this “Playing for second” bs right at the start of the match, we have a whole week, alot can happen. Also the score says nothing more than people eventually needed to sleep while other’s didn’t.

“So, it’s hypocritical of IoJ to say we were taking a break, and enjoying the holiday event, but it’s ok for SoS to say “You’re only taking stuff back, cause we’re not there”. Whatever. Look at the matchup we had in T1, the point spread really happened after the event started.”

^^^^ Can even ask SBI/JQ people, of which several of them agreed that our WvW went to hell the night Halloween started and has been until last night… which was also pretty much the last phase of the event. This wasn’t something that just happened during your matchup, it started before that.

I don’t believe it. And all the takebacks are only occuring here at the end because everyone on SoS knows we have won at this point and has no motivation to fight. Try to spin it however you like, IoJ dropped the ball hard.

Believe what you want, but considering that we went from having constant overflow on LA and event maps to having queues (for pretty much the first time in the match) for WvW kinda says otherwise. And considering you guys did come and try to take things back kinda says otherwise on the motivation to fight.

My biggest issue with added healing is with guardians, several abilities run with healing as an added bonus (virtue of resolve, 2 shouts giving regen, mace #2 and the third hit of #1 giving regen/heal, focus #4) I could see them becoming too much of a tank just from self healing. Also, Necro would become even more tanky with extra healing from life steals.

Condition damage would be the same way with boosting better classes than others, Mesmers and Necros would get huge boosts right off the bat. Yes there are “condition” based specs for most classes, but mesmer and necro would easily benefit way more than others.

Condition Duration I dont really have an issue with. It would cause more people to run with condition clearing skills which isnt a bad thing.

Boon Duration is the same, however I do see a a slight issue with that due to guardians again just because they can drop so many boons its not funny.

I honestly think the best way to deal with the orb situation is just to cut it down. Make it so only the orb in your borderlands gives you the buff. And taking away the other team’s takes away the buff for them, but doesn’t stack onto yours. That way the max is only a 5% buff, but taking an enemy’s orb still has a point.

Halloween Event is completely destroying our WvW. The phase 2 areas are completely overflowed. we don’t even have queues for most of our stuff in WvW.

What happened to the guys that showed up at the match start? The Halloween event. Though not sure where they all ran off to at this point, think we would have gotten them back by now. But yeah, we are running outmanned on every BL and EB is the only place we aren’t (hence the only place we have anything)

Honestly it looks like SBI took off for the event and came back, JQ skipped the event at the start and is doing it now, and we (Ioj) just never came back from the event for some reason.
