Anduriell.

Seriously. How can you whine like this.

I’m gonna copy and paste all the ranger patch notes, and you can look at them again. And then tell us all again how we only got nerfs. You may want to see either a optician or a psychologist.

Here, look:

Ranger
“After many years, ranger pets have learned how to remember their own names, and you’ll no longer be required to rename a pet when you switch them out! In addition to some baseline improvements, our goal has been to improve base pet abilities during this update. With that said, there are definitely more pet changes that we’re looking forward to implementing in the future.”
Weapons
Swoop: This skill will no longer be affected by movement-impairing conditions.
Ricochet: The number of times the axe can bounce has been reduced from 2 to 1. Base damage has been increased by 40%.
Hunter’s Call: The damage of this skill has been increased by 25%. This skill now applies 5 seconds of vulnerability each time it hits an enemy.
Utilities
Strength of the Pack: Updated the skill facts to show the proper effect duration.
Sharpening Stone: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 45 seconds to 30 seconds. Bleeding duration has been increased from 6 seconds to 10 seconds. The number of attacks this skill applies has been increased from 5 to 6.
Glyphs: All glyphs have been updated to properly set their cooldowns after use.
Glyph of Rejuvenation: This glyph now heals the ranger’s pet.
Water Spirit: Fixed a bug that prevented Water Spirit’s on-attack healing effect from scaling properly.
Guard: Reduced the damage reduction from 50% to 33%.
Druid—Glyphs: Fixed a bug that caused glyph abilities to have differing recharges between base form and celestial form.
Quickening Zephyr: The cooldown of this skill has been reduced from 60 seconds to 50 seconds.
Pets
Pets: Names for unequipped pets are now remembered between sessions.
Spider Family—Poison Gas: The duration of this field has been increased from 1 second to 4 seconds, applying poison on each pulse. Poison application is now based off of an unblockable attack instead of applying directly through defense. Poison duration has been increased from 3 seconds to 4 seconds.
Moa Family—Peck: The attack range of this skill has been increased from 130 to 170.
Moa Family—Frenzied Attack: This attack now executes twice as fast as it previously did, allowing the creature to engage in combat faster. Increased the number of attacks from 3 to 4. Vulnerability now applies on each attack hit rather than directly applying it to the target through defense.
Red Moa—Furious Screech: The aftercast of this pet skill has been reduced by 2 seconds, allowing the creature to engage in combat faster.
Blue Moa—Protecting Screech: The aftercast of this pet skill has been reduced by 2 seconds, allowing the creature to engage in combat faster. The cooldown of this skill has been reduced from 30 seconds to 24 seconds.
White Moa—Chilling Screech: The aftercast of this pet skill has been reduced by 2 seconds, allowing the creature to engage in combat faster. Chill duration has been increased from 3 seconds to 5 seconds. The cooldown has been reduced from 30 seconds to 24 seconds.
Pink Moa—Dazing Screech: The aftercast of this pet skill has been reduced by 2 seconds, allowing the creature to engage in combat faster.
Black Moa—Dazing Screech: This skill now dazes up to three times during the cast, at a 1 second interval. Daze duration has been reduced from 2 seconds to 1 second per hit.
Pig—Forage: The recharge of all forage skills has been reduced from 40 seconds to 30 seconds.
Pig—Maul: Bleeding stacks per hit have been increased from 1 to 2, for a total of 4 if both attacks hit.
Pig—Brutal Charge: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 40 seconds to 30 seconds.
Feline Family—Maul: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 20 seconds to 16 seconds.
Drake—Tail Swipe: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 30 seconds to 24 seconds.
Drake—Chomp: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 20 seconds to 10 seconds.
Canine Family—Crippling Leap: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 20 seconds to 10 seconds.
Canine Family—Brutal Charge: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 40 seconds to 30 seconds.
Traits
Protective Ward: Increased the cooldown from 15 seconds to 18 seconds in PvP only. This trait will no longer apply weakness through block or evade.
Beastly Warden: Increased the cooldown from 15 seconds to 20 seconds.
Enlargement: This trait will no longer force players out of Celestial Avatar when triggered. The benefits of the trait will still apply.
Runes
Superior Rune of the Druid: Fixed a bug in which the fourth bonus would give the incorrect amount of vitality.
Superior Rune of the Trooper/Soldier: Ranger shouts will now remove conditions from allies within a range of 600.
Notes
Water Spirit’s tooltip remains broken, but the on-attack heal scaling with the player’s healing power is now working. It seems to have received an increase from 0.09 to 0.125.
Storm Spirit’s pulsing Swiftness when traited with Nature’s Vengeance still does not scale with the player’s boon duration.
Pink Moa’s F2 dazes and damages foes 3 times (for clarification). Not noted, but the daze duration was reduced from 2s to 1½s.
Black Moa’s F2 did not receive an aftercast reduction. This now makes the Hall of Monuments Pet a straight downgrade rather than a cosmetic replacement for the Pink Moa.

Now tell us all again how we only got “nerfs and nerfs again for the ranger”

@Crapgame.

Anduriell’s reaction was much more suspicious/paranoid than yours but anyway..

I understand where you’re comming from, which is a an experienced veteran ranger which you seem to be imo, who knows pretty much all ins and outs.
Not everyone is so experienced and people can get one-shotted in WvW by a ranger, right? Maybe he/she is new to an MMORPG and plays WvW in masterwork gear or something, we don’t know. Indeed we don’t know much about the backstory, I fully agree. That doesn’t mean it’s a veteran too that is looking for a nerf.
Why would exp people go post in an certain profession subform that they get one-shotted to get devs to nerf that profession.
Why wouldn’t people just say out loud that they find that certain profession to be OP, instead of complaining they get one-shotted? We’re not in 4th grade anymore right? We can say things the way they are. Prolly not something for you to answer, you can’t speak for others

But anyway, it really doesn’t seem that way in that case for all we know, for now it seems he was just asking how it could be possible in WvW by a ranger? I actually took it as a compliment to the ranger.

krait runes used to be very popular, I think it still is a very good choice, especially if you’re running traited (wilderness knowledge) survival skills, especially with the elite entangle, don’t forget troll unguent either, lightning reflexes, and use muddy terrain to lock down more. I’d equip all slots with survival skills except for maybe 1 for signet of the wild for some stability.

With other weapon skills like MH axe 2 and 3, torch skills, reef drake for an extra (cover)condition and to blast a field, lynx or snow leapard.
Staff for a more defensive set up and to kite more.
Sword/- to keep torch #5 on quickdraw if you have skirmishing, or sword/warhorn to blast things, some might fury and swiftness.
Shortbow as it’s condition-based, you’ll have to experience (in exotic first) what fits you best.

Sigils:
corruption.
geomancy, hydromancy or energy to kite more (maybe renewal for quicker CA)

+moar% condition foods ofc.

Used to have a lot of fun with that

Make a raid wing where thieves are crucial

Bast Bow.2958

Hello Shovel Face.

Yes thieves are fun. But you can’t be serious about this though.
Imagine anet would follow up your idea. Then in those raids, where 2 or 4 thieves are needed in a Squad of 10 with 9 professions to choose from, you’re just pulling ahead 1 profession, thief in this case. By a lot. Other professions will feel left behind, by a lot, which would be totally legit.

It’s not like thieves don’t have a role in raids now. There are other professions in a worse position than thieves.

It’s all ok you’re a thief-fan but making raids dependant of multiple spots of 1 profession really isn’t a good idea at all, sorry.

What's The Ideal Healing Gear For Druid

in Ranger

Bast Bow.2958

I can answer that. It does vary a little bit based on what exact mix of gear you are using and what your playstyle is. If you are staff camping then the extra DPS of Zealot over Magi/Cleric is entirely negligible, it’s within the range of 400-500 DPS. If you are mixing in Sword/Axe auto attacks with 100% Zealot gear, then your DPS is still going to be fairly garbage and not worth it. Maybe you’ll squeeze out an extra 1-3k DPS? If you are doing Zealot Armor + Staff + everything else zerker then you start to see a little bit more respectable damage, but it’s obviously not as good as a DPS Druid.

Now regardless of what mix you pick, you still want to be able to generate astral force “quickly” on your non-staff weapon set. This is most commonly achieved by bringing a water sigil and 3-4 glyphs, though there are other ways if you don’t want to bring a glyph heavy build. The bottom line is, if you prioritize personal DPS with a zealot/magi/cleric mix then you are doing it wrong, at least go berserker/viper if you’re going to do that.

The core concept is that as long as you are generating sufficient astral force within these 10s windows of you leaving CA, then any DPS you do during it is “free” and since you are healing anyways you are still maintaining people’s scholar buffs. Though you won’t do that as well as a staff auramancer or dedicated healer druid.

Even as a DPS druid in Zerker/Viper gear, you’re still there to spread GotL and occasionally burst heal. Personal DPS is just a bonus and Zerker/Viper druids do a decent amount. No where near Tempest or DD level though.

A lot of guilds tend to skip out on Zealots since they’re bringing 2 druids anyways and 2 DPS druids is usually enough healing when combined with other offheals from the group. If they need more healing they just make one druid put on more healing gear (Magi or Zealots) until they have enough. I prefer to run 1 magi druid and 1 zerker druid myself in raid comps as it’s just “safer” but not everyone wants to run the safe route and that’s fine if you want to min/max your raid DPS.

This is coming from someone who has a set of Magi, Zerker, Zealot and a Viper gear. I mainly use the first 2 nowdays, though I did find a niche use for Zealots in progressing through the new raid wing as more DPS just makes KC and Xera easier, but even then I don’t think it was particularly needed or helped out that much.

Interesting! Thanks.

About the 10 sec window and the free dps, not sure if I understand what you’re saying: do you mean you focus on personal dmg outside CA? Because I do not. I’m focussed on healing both inside and outside CA, outside usually on staff, to maintain squad at 90% health(10% dmg x 9 ppl rather important imo).

Bast Bow.2958

I consider myself an experienced magi/cleric druid in raids. Pugged very much and I really like it. Also some guild runs

Most other dps professions have scholar runes which means you, as a druid, have to keep them at +90% health. This keeps me in CA or focussed on healing a lot. So not much time left for actually swapping to something else then staff to try and deal damage (with the exception of one or two raidbosses who don’t require as much healing, I got zerker for that). I think keeping my party at above 90% for their scholar runes to have effect is more important then that bit of personal damage you want to squeeze out.
The only other profession you’re hurting here is a chrono, but what’s to say about the chrono’s personal dps? I don’t think it’s the most important job of the chrono to pump out personal dps, would those few hundred toughness hurt?

Also, magi druids are usually magi/cleric druids, with some or all cleric trinkets. This gives them more survivability but less personal damage. More survivability means that you can more easily keep your party at full health, or at least make them worry the least about healing themselves or taking damage.

I have to say I do not have a zealots armor set (yet). I’m in doubt for months now and still following discussions when I see them whether that personal dps increase is actually better then keeping your party topped off, which I’m not sure you can do when in zealot’s because you tend to be more focussed on personal dps?

It seems in the end it all comes down whether you are in a (very) experienced group or not, to keep the full potential of your partymembers at above 90% health and also pump out personal dps, or you’re in a group where you can only do the first.

Hello all,

I’m currently gearing up my chrono mesmer, want to use it for tanking in raids, and haven’t decided yet on what sigil I need.

I have full asc Berserker trinkets, Assassins Armor and Commander weapons, being 2 swords, a focus and a shield. Chronomancer runes.

Do I need the superior sigil of concentration, and if yes, on what weapon(s)?
And what sigil(s) on the other weapon(s)?

I know there’s a difference between having a rev along with your squad, or not.

Agreed, totally. Pointing that out and acting the exact same way, but being in a different camp, isn’t the solution. It’s behaving the exact same way but just being on the different side of the table.

Yeah, and PvP for challenge, E-Sports as well as glory and honor. LOL!

Scripted Combat can’t be done for challenge, once the choreographed moves have been learned, it quickly becomes a repeatable routine, with the only challenge being in what the other players do.

Which brings us back to elitism and PUG’s, If there really was any desire for thrill and challenge in PvE, no one would be an elitist that just wants to quickly clear content.

Set, Game, and Match.

There isn’t really a dicussion going on here.
Indeed it’s a Game, Set, Match type of discussion where it seems some active people in this forum here are only here to win eachother over, already in advance have formed an oppinion and not really listening to eachother, only looking to win over another game, set and match. No matter what the cost, and totally forgot the discussion should be about people having different oppinions but are actively looking to come to an agreement or a point of view most of guild wars 2 players agree with and/or feels best.

Come down of your almighty thrones, disaproving any other oppinion then yours in advance, try to look for similarities in oppinions instead of differences, otherwise you’re getting toxic yourself.

Doesn’t the strength of a stun/CC determine how much of the break bar is depleted when hit by it? A 0.5 second reduction on the daze translates to 1/4 of it’s strength as a CC. According to the wiki (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defiance_Bar#Hard_control_effects) the chart shows a 1.5 second daze has a break power of 150, while a 2 second daze has a break power of 200.

Many druids already brought it as one of the few ways to recover from several people being hit by the shake attack (it instakilled the pet if you couldn’t swap it out but better than players). The CD is 60 seconds which is too long for it to be a reliable counter in that fight considering how often players get hit by slubling condis, especially in the final phase when they can’t be blocked/reflected. Sometimes it was also necessary to pop it if you for some reason got feared after a sleep. Active, low CD condi clear is incredibly important to the fight and plenty of groups can’t handle the condis even with the old druid cleanses.

Yeah it seems like I’m feeling the difference in breakbars in raids, because of the lower daze. And also increased cd on lunar impact screwed up my rotation, need to learn again.

Comming from a pve perspective, the nerfs weren’t necessary in my oppinion, it didn’t feel overpowered at all. Kind of a bummer, yes. I can’t say anything about pvp.

Not sure if we rangers are “traumatized” and overreactive for any nerf which troubles are objective views, or developers really have favorite and less favorite professions.
I hardly can believe the latter though, that would mean they’re very incapable of their job, having favorites, which I can not imagine.

Crafting Ascended armor.... what stats?

in Ranger

Posted by: Bast Bow.2958

Bast Bow.2958

Actually, in higher fractals it’s exactly the opposite. People are glad when a healing druid enters. You either play Viper or Healer there (fights take much longer than ZerkMeta can handle – you can’t survive through Aegis and dodges alone). Berserkers rock in lower Fractals where no one needs healing but are meh due to high toughness values of mobs higher, yet people ask for them regardless.

Plus – it’s perfectly fine to have Berserker armor even in Raids if you fill the rest with healing trinkets. You technically just need Rune of the Monk, delicious rice ball food and around 800 healing power from items.

I am no fractal-expert, so Hans I would go with Tragic Positive considering fractals.
I recently asked some other people if a healer druid was popular in high tier fractals but told it was not. Learned something new today

Hiya Hans.

I think both zealot’s and berserker are viable in all 4 gametypes you mentioned, except for fractals and raids where it comes down to a difference.

- Raids: Berserker Druids are not popular in raids. I think you’ll have a hard time pugging raids in berserker armor, even though you’re full out dps. Zealot’s will be different since you will become the healer, especially if you mix in some magi/cleric trinkets, that is a popular build.

- Fractals: In fractals I believe it’s the other way around. You want to have as much damage as possible, which is berserker (or viper’s, but not going there now). Especially in high tier fractals. I think Zealot’s will be fine for mid and low tier fractals.

Bye Hans

WoW is how many years old now? Is there a WoW 2 planned for that game?

No. And no to your question.

Those are 2 completely different games, why compare them and even say because of game x it will also happen to game y?
Besides there’s a guildwars 1 and guildwars 2.

On topic: there’s a lot of lore which could open up a lot for future content, being it via expansions or a whole new game.
There was also a non official guildwars world map posted, somewhere sometime, including gw1 and gw2 maps, but also with other facts they got out of gw-books I believe. This is really a huge map, about 20 or 30 times bigger then current gw2 worldmap roughly if I remember correctly, which sparks the imagination of gw2-expansions or gw3 content.

Even if, I think it will take 5 years at least. I’ll never forget the first info about gw2 was released and when it finally came out, that was also about 5 years of “when it’s ready”. The pain… Lol. If they will release it ever, I hope they’ll shorten that period :P.

Maybe Anet would love to as well, but there’s so many things that can change on so many topics that could change that outcome though.

Magi is your best and safest option, especially if you’re starting. It does the job perfectly and gives you the biggest heals.

Zealot’s and/or mixing it up with berserker is for when you’re an experienced raider, going with experienced people, who want to speed things up a bit, and not necessarily only want to get the job done (killing the raid-boss).

Usually I tend to bring a somewhat more friendlier attitude towards people receiving it in either chat or ts. When I do this, pretty often some other people join in the conversation and the ambiance get’s better.

I have to totally agree with you on this one, It’s weird, and to be honest I have no idea why it happens, but this kind of content really seems to bring out the worst among people as opposed to the best in them, and all it ends up doing is divide up the community, as opposed to bring people together.

I disagree with you for the most part, because of my experiences and what I have seen.

I see people pugging raids and joining guilds because of raids. There’s no dividing there.
Then there’s a group puggers that are (much) more strict with by what means you are allowed to join their puggroup, which in some degree I believe can be seen as ‘dividing’, and there are puggers who are less strict. First group is bigger though from what I have seen. Then there’s also a difference in how patient some people are with people who aren’t playing well for whatever reason. Some thorny hearts out there?
But even then, raids on itself brings people together in the first place like I mentioned before in the first sentence. I, for once, was kind of a lone ranger when playing PvE content, in both sence of the word. Raids made me play more with other people.

It depends if you’re going to pug raids, or you would like to join a raiding-guild or guild that raids.

If you’re pugging, you won’t get accepted in groups with your celestial armor. It won’t be the popular option in a raiding guild either. If you’re focused on raiding, and will try to join a guild because of that, most guilds tend to ask what your specific gear set up is, celestial won’t do it.

Viper’s is something else, you have much better chance pugging with viper’s gear or joining a raidguild with viper’s.
Most pug raiders want people to run builds from metabattle. In your case, take a look at this one: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_A/T_Condition
This is a popular druid build using viper’s gear.

Then still you probably won’t be someone a pugteam would want, since you’re a newcomer and most puggers tend to ask you for a certain amount, like 30 LI (Legendary Insight, which you get by defeating 1 boss in a raid), full appropriate (by which they mean the builds on metabattle) ascended gear, or recently the title eternal, which means you defeated all raidbosses (1 wing) without a partymember dying.

So it’s very tough luck if you’re just starting and want to pug raids.

I guess your best option is to join a raiding guild, and there are raid guilds that like to teach people. I think that would suit you far better for now, than pugging raids. You can look here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor for guilds like that, or promote yourself.

Good luck and have fun!

Well thanks a lot everyone for the answers! Very helpful. Gives me way more insight then I had.

Last but not least statement is also very important yes, I should ask the guilds I play in what would be of more use to them. And I will.

Leaning towards dragonhunter now, maybe despite the answers stated above.
I’m also thinking a bit long-term, if I would maybe play this second character at other contents, and I probably would like to. Dungeons, maybe some fractals though I never got the hang of fractals really thus far, and HoT meta events. Seems the current dragonhunter gearing is more suited for that than mesmer’s.

I also feel the druid healing role, which I am used to, isn’t very easy compared to other professions/roles in raids, I would like another character where I can work a bit less hard. Mesmer seems more challenging then dragonhunter. Correct me if I’m wrong though.

So if the guilds I play with would (strongly) recommend chrono, I’ll go for chrono, otherwise dragonhunter.

Again, thanks!

Can anything be said about either chrono or dh being more difficult to play? I probably won’t be pugging a lot anymore because I’ll be doing raids with guilds which are semi-experienced.

Do you find either more fun to play, and why?

Would either be more popular to have, considering both wings? I know about chrono tanking VG, was wondering about both wing 1 and 2 all together

Hi!

Looking for a raiding guild. Currently pretty active on weekdays and sundays. Usually online at 7 cest until 10 cest, sometimes also during the day.

What I have to offer:
full magi/cleric ascended ranger druid, including 2 magi trinkets from shards.
full berserker ascended ranger druid, got the maths to swap to ascended viper’s, but not sure yet.
full soldier ascended ranger druid, I was kinda focused on wvw since headstart 2012 besides a little dungeoning and a fractal once in a while, until I discovered raiding.

I have a full carrion exotic mesmer at 80, not unlocked the elite specialisation yet, could probably gear her up full exotic pretty easily. Ascended would take a while.

Currently 21 LI, but defeated VG and Gorse few more times, because I like to practise.

Always on my healing druid.
I’m comfortable with VG and Gorse, no problem. Defeated Sabetha only twice, still learning. No experience with wing 2 but would like to learn as well.

I got TS.

I’m 30. First time typing it out, pff looks old lol.
In between jobs so very active these days, but hopefully will be a bit less active in a month or so, at least during the day on weekdays.
I live in the Netherlands, my english is good enough.

Any more questions feel free to ask, looking forward to find a active raiding guild!

Oh and why now? Because I pugged it a lot, and don’t want to pug it anymore.

Yup, this was a pure ranger dps build so no druid line. Using the lynx primarily as my main pet with either fire or confusion salamander as my off pet. You can stack so much bleeds, posion and burning. Also using entangle for my elite combined with krait runes. I know nightmare + 2 trapper seems to be the meta, but Stuff was literally melting.

Did an enormously fast se 3 run and between me and another necro, the last boss had 80 bleeds on him lol!!!

Yes I’ve ran a build similar to yours I see. Dire, in wvw roaming, was pre-hot. Very satisfying to see people and camps melt that fast. Was something along these lines:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNUQRBHhx+1IhKUzitsgHLQ1iBDhyb9Yf273NYbBOAG9G4Ep69XA-TVyCABHfQA8U9nZ2fILlfVcEA0T/AAnAAGeAAJqEMAACwMLzysMDOuxNuxNuxZmzcmzcmzsUALKNC-w
A lot of conditions and cover-conditions.
Being in axe/wh: Sharpening Stone, Winter’s Bite, Split Blade, Muddy Terrain, Entangle (krait runes), swap to sword/torch for chill, drake’s confusion, bonfire, throw torch.
If I could make these all hit, 1v1 weren’t big trouble, camps easy.
1 major flaw in this build though, I had no stability. And found it hard to let go of one of my utilities. Most of the time I got away with it though, by either locking them down first, dodging/evading at the right times, or if I was fighting the same people again who shot/stomped/knocked me all over the map, swapping out muddy terrain for signet of the wild.

Now hot is there this probably isn’t very viable anymore, or there are better versions on metabattle. Really had a good time playing this though.

Yikes, for commanding I totally recall my suggestion of berserker’s. It never occurred to me you’d be doing that, especially with those weapons.

The general idea for commanding gear is as tanky as possible, doing little to zero damage (i.e. full nomad’s or whatever.) If you go down or aren’t able to stand in the right place, your zerg is doomed. It’s not compatible with PvE gear.

I agree on this too.

Even though you explained your way of commanding, which would possibly work I believe, but you will be very bound to those certain skills and in that particular order in order to survive. I think you’ll be far better out with a whole lot of toughness if you’re commanding, you can move far more freely and won’t be downed quickly.

And I also agree on trinkets serving you well for both WvW commanding and PvE-content. But if you have to choose, I’d go with as much toughness trinkets you can get, because you have celestial weapons and armor.

So that will be Knight’s and/or Nomad’s trinkets. That way you will have more survivabilty while commanding, and still can clear PvE content, even though it will go rather slow because you don’t have much DPS.
The other way around, max dps trinkets like berserker, will give you more damage in PvE, but imo you won’t be able to command well in WvW and die often.

WvW: Are you a roamer or do you fight in zergs? That makes a difference imo. When you fight in zergs you’ll need a bunch of toughness if you’re fighting frontline/midline, if you’re a roamer you don’t necesarrily need a lot of toughness.

With the information I know now, and you also want to use staff/longbow besides staff/sword+wh, I also think berserker or possibly viper trinkets will suit you best when running celestial weapons.

You can’t play frontline WvW in zergfights with this setup though, you’ll lack toughness, but you don’t have to as long as you play staff/longbow, stay in the back and snipe the enemy will be fine.

Healing Spring and Glyph of Rejuvenation

Healing Spring indeed for fighting at 1 spot, or swooping, projectiling, evading etc through/in it. And it’s a waterfield you can blast, which is good sometimes, but sometimes not because ppl want other fields instead.

That’s why to me the glyph feels easier and better. Even though there are situations where healing spring would probably be better of use then the glyph.

What Wolfey says, and:

Assuming we’re talking about ascended:

If you already have an ascended medium armor set, you can always decide to swap stats from your former set, into zealot’s. Which is much cheaper then acquiring a full new armor set. On how to do so, check: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_armor, scroll down and check Attribute Change.

Same goes for Weapons: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_weapon

Trinkets, you’ll have to have a bunch of Magnetite Shards, which you’ll get from completing Raids. Also don’t forget to unlock the mastery: leyline forsaken thicket, rift traveler to get to the merchant which sells you the zealot trinkets for magnetite shards.

If you happen to have very much magnetite shards, and some gold, you could also buy zealot armor and weapons from that same merchant.

How to play druid in Raid/Fractals?

Agree with julian and jcbroe specifically.

The raid healer build on metabattle is your safest option. Healing and then buffing is most important imo, especially in PUG groups. DPS is not important to get you through the raids, the other 9 people should do that, DPS is their responsability, not yours.. I’ve cleared it a lot this way with both PUG groups and regular raid group.

If your in a group you raid with regularly, and your comfy with the mechanics and feel like you can add some damage because your team is also familiar with the raid and don’t need so much healing, then you can, but don’t need, to swap to a more dmg build. Swapping out some cleric or magi trinkets for zealot for example. Keep adding more dmg and see how it goes. This isn’t needed though to get through the raid. Just takes less time.

This I initially thought about myself.
But with the former Stealth Ice-Trap build I used I realized that with 1 (untraited) trap I forced 3 cleanse CDs out of ele. Which I called a success.

If you bomb 5 people with 30 second chill that keeps reapplying in 3 second interval – you can call it a good CD baiter. Naturally – I would never dare call it competitive – which is why I put it only into the casual bracket.
If anything is to be competitive – it just has to include Druidic Clarity, additional cleanse, CC, mobility, and it has to be dominant at some role. Well, the chill build is outshined in almost everything but is not entirely useless and might be fun to play.

Hm yes, sounds interesting.

And definitely think it’s a fun build to play, perma-chilling your enemies constantly, must be very annoying for the enemy team.

wouldn’t it need more cover up conditions so chill doesn’t get cleansed too quickly, despite the many times chill gets applied?

Answer at title question: No, not at all.

Are druids a safe pick to learn raiding?

in Ranger

Bast Bow.2958

I don’t agree with much of the stated above in terms of how easy it is for a druid.
You’re the healer, so you do have responsabilities. I do not think that’s an easy job. You’re paying attention to: everybody’s healthbar, positioning yourself, positioning yourself properly with your allies to land your heals,, a certain skill rotation, your pet’s f2 skill and/or healthbar and the raid’s mechanics + required skills for certain raid-bosses like knockbacks on seekers at vale guardian, or snares at gorseval.
I think it’s easier to play just a dps-profession.
That way you don’t have to deal with everybody’s healthbar, positioning yourself properly with your allies to land your heals, and your pet (which requires minor attention, but still), and sometimes they also don’t (or can’t) knockback or snare.
This way, if you play a dps-profession, you have 3 or 4 less things to worry about.
There are also raid-professions which have the tank-role, or adding buffs to the party, which also requires some of the same I stated above.
Again: I think just a dps-profession is the easiest way to contribute in the raids.
Correct me if I’m wrong though.

But about the fun-factor, that’s something else. I really like to be of service to the raid squad, healing and buffing them.
