I simply do not farm, anything. And I will not until DR is removed.
Way to stick it to the man lol. I WILL NOT PLAY THE GAME I HAVE PAID IN FULL FOR!
You are an all american hero my friend.
Also wtf is DR?
You could do what all other attention seekers do, in every other MMo, ever made, ever and make a passive aggressive forum post about it?
Oh no wait you already did that.
I could care less if a company talks to me or not. I play their game, I don’t want to speak to them about it, I just want to play it. I don’t buy games to enter into discussion with their support staff, if anything that’s the last thing I want as it means something is broken and needs fixing.
What happened to gamers that made them so needy for attention all the time?
Uhhh you might want to revise your reward. Apparently the gold buyer detection algorithm is lazy and will automatically and permanently ban accounts of characters that receive large sums of gold in the mail with no investigation. So you might end up getting the winner banned.
Don’t be a turnip. I work for a massive MMo myself, and that’s not in any way how things work. There are literally thousands of things going on in the background to monitor unusual transactions, and tonnes of criteria, aswell as appeals when incorrectly actioned.
It continues to amaze me how people think the people running these insanely complex and fantastic works of art are bottom dwelling braindead morons. These people are very very smart, very well educated, and while they make mistakes, they don’t run things on simple algorhythms. These games are literally running on an entire language of complexity above that which the playerbase in general could never understand.

Poor OP, wanted a rage thread, only got replies about how much fun people are having, and how well populated things are.
Poor OP indeed.
It does seem one of the more popular exploits right now is coming to the forums and complaining about there being nothing to do ingame, which is odd, as im always overwhelmed by tasks when I login to GW2, and rarely have the time to complete them all.
I don’t play in excess though. With there being no monthly fee, I limit myself to a few hours a night at max, and never feel rushed or over committed to things. I think the general problem here is that people are spending massive gaming sessions in GW2 daily, and complaining that they are out of things to do, when infact they are burning themselves out due to playing in excess.
I agree. I jut got this game a few days ago. I’m on a supposedly “full” server and I do play during prime time hours, yet every zone I’ve been to so far is a ghost town. I see maybe 2 or 3 people after exploring for hours. I can’t do group events, and most of the time they are spawning champions and masses of mobs all over the place that I simply can’t deal with alone. But when I go to Lions Arch theres tons of people and the chat is loaded with people LFG’ing for this FOTM dungeon. It kinda makes me want to just say screw the massive beautiful world and rush my way to 80 so I can actually play with people.
Alot of higher level players are currently plonked in LA as the event is there and they are working on their mini’s, or doing fractals.
Personally I play on a US realm, and I am in the EU so I thought I would be seeing nothing but a ghost town too, but there always seems to be people pottering about wherever I go.
Ok I am glad someone else spotted this, as I was going about the area doing my discoveries and noticed that the map was completely messed up in that section, making it very confusing to get my discoveries. Thought I had just consumed too much Eggnog though.
Wow, one might think that it was based on some kind of random number generation each attempt. But heavens no, 21 tries clearly shows that it’s broken, cause you know, that’s an accurate yield of statistics _?
One question I always ask myself though, is that if all of these other MMo’s people quote so much as “GW2 needs to be more like XYZ MMo”, then why are these people here playing this one, and not there, playing that one?
People seem to do an awfully good job of claiming the grass is greener on the other side, but are seldom found there.
-Sigh-
translation:
“If you don’t like it stop playing it, and go elsewhere”
Gussy it up ANY way you like, and keep repeating it but you won’t change the desire to get this game living up to the expectations they raised themselves before release.
If you think we should all just shut up and play or leave, then clearly you’re not here to discuss anything, in which case why are you on the forums? that’s pretty much what they’re here for, feedback and discussionThat vapid and pointless generic “go elsewhere” response, is pretty much spam.
My point is, was, and always will be, that you don’t know what you are whining about. You see a box on a forum and want to fill it with if’s and’s and but’s just because you can. You have rattled on and on about the proverbial “should have been” without taking the actual game into consideration.
You people are the lowest kind of forum bottom dweller, as you just complain for the sake of complaining. You don’t raise anything valid, you just whine, and whine, and whine.
Yes, if you don’t like it, go somewhere else. You are clearly in the minority of people who think the game was going to be something greater and more than it is, or ever made to be. I watch the trailer, and see everything that it offered in the game. You play the game and want it to be every other game, but for no other reason than “because it isn’t those games”.
I cannot ever understand in any form why you people continue to bleat on and on about it. If I don’t like a car, I either don’t buy it, or find after buying it I don’t like it, so I return it or sell it on. If I don’t like a specific food, I don’t buy it anymore. I don’t bleat on and on at the company who produces these products about them not meeting my bespoke expectations.
>>PLEASE READ THIS NEXT LINE CAREFULLY<<
You are expecting the game to be something more based on your own false vision of what the game was going to be, but you were wrong, the game delivered everything it promised, you just can’t see that.
I am all for feedback, but not when it’s just mindless whining.
I already paid for my game in full. The Gem Store doesn’t exist to me. The items sold through it are of zero want to me. There is no sense of achievement from buying an item from the store you have done nothing to earn.
Guild Wars 2 is fantastic, my only gripe with it is that there is no option to remove the Gem Store from my UI completely. To this day, since release, I have not once opened it.

Also, it is, around the snowglobe.
They you simply don’t like MMOs. Don’t try and force it.
No, I like MMOs just fine. And I have fun whether playing by myself or with other people.
I just don’t like the sort of nasty, berating, godawful people that they naturally accumulate, like a fungus that won’t go away.
The problem isn’t with the game, it’s with the people. The game is plenty fun, and whenever I’m playing with other friendly people, I have an absolute blast. The problem is with these people who insist that the game be played THEIR WAY OR ELSE, the sort of people who would “quit the game 4eva” over a single thing in a single patch they don’t like and yet will stay in the forums just to troll those who are still having fun, the sort of people who are just generally unpleasant individuals. I hate people like that, and given that they compose the majority of MMO players, it’s fair to claim that I hate people as a general statement.
Glad to see im not the only one to see behind the veil
– Agreed 200%.
Don’t try and force what? I love this game, and it gives me everything I want from an MMo and a single player game.
It is you that seems to have incorrect expectations of a game you don’t seem to like.
No issues here
No, you don’t like MMOs. If you don’t like people, and MMOs were designed to be played with people, then you don’t like MMOs.
If fails as an MMO precisely BECAUSE of the things you like about it, and that’s why player engagement has tumbled.
So based on the game that actually exists and is real, loved by loads of people, is raking in cash, selling by the bucketful and I love too, I am wrong, based on your opinion of a game that does not exist, isn’t real, and isn’t at all available?
What you are saying is I am wrong for liking the game as it was designed, and you are right for hating it because it wasn’t designed how you expect games to work?
It isn’t an MMo anyways, it’s a multiplayer solo game.
And that is precisely the failure.
What failure? I don’t want to play with random buttheads, just friends and guildies, so ill take my MMo world, and my single player mechanics and have fun.
Why should the whole game be gated by playing with others? Many people love MMo’s but hate MMo players (because lets face it in general the vocal ones are vile and nasty little snots). What failure is it where a game is a smash hit, loved by millions, and appeals to me perfectly?
One of the things I loved about Skyrim was it’s MMo feel, in a single player environment. The only thing that game could have done better was allowing me to bring friends into my world with me, not MMo, just Left 4 Dead type gaming, a few friends, exploring and playing together, without the hassle of dealing with the unwashed masses.
I think what you meant to type is “This game is not Vanilla WoW, the one I think I remember based on what a few people said it was like on a forum I read once”.
I already live in a world filled with buttholes and vile people, I don’t want to purchase something that allows me to do the same in my spare time.
I think you’ve just accurately captured what has charmed me about this game more than any other.
Fact of the matter is, I love MMOs but I hate people. Now I have a game that lets me play mostly by myself, and the people I do run into aren’t competing to see how long it takes to tick me off.
They you simply don’t like MMOs. Don’t try and force it.

No issues here
While I have no disrespect for your blindness, I don’t think games should be designed so every single element needs to be usable by every single person.
What you are talking about is something that was overlooked is all, not something that was designed as an evil super plan to bring down the visually impaired, which is why I don’t believe for one moment you feel victimized or disrespected. Provide the feedback, and hope that it is considered for the next event, but don’t make up that you are feeling hard done by because an event doesn’t fully accommodate your particular infliction.
In the same respect, the game disrespects blind people and deaf people too. They seem to manage just fine by employing the help of friends (see the WoW guild where a player is completely blind, and lead around the game by his friend) to enjoy it as much as they can.
What you are claiming is just as ridiculous as claiming that shoe manufacturers are discriminating against people who don’t have legs.
Again I mean no disrespect, but try to see what you are claiming, compared to what the actual issue is. Your feedback is invaluable for future events, but at the same time, you are in no way being victimized as a result of this minigame.
Also as a pianist, I don’t even use the colours, nor would I expect people too. The lanes are laid out in line with the placement of the keys. The colours don’t even come into for me.
It isn’t an MMo anyways, it’s a multiplayer solo game.
And that is precisely the failure.
What failure? I don’t want to play with random buttheads, just friends and guildies, so ill take my MMo world, and my single player mechanics and have fun.
Why should the whole game be gated by FORCING playing with others? Many people love MMo’s but hate MMo players (because lets face it in general the vocal ones are vile and nasty little snots). What failure is it where a game is a smash hit, loved by millions, and appeals to me perfectly? The way it works now, it allows me to play with others when I choose to, not when the game tells me I have to. If I want to go it alone, I can, if I want to go out with friends, I can do that too, and if I want to join randoms, yup, can do that aswell.

It’s the perfect game for me, as I love MMo mechanics, and the open worlds they contain, but I generally hate people, and their dickishness. Guild Wars gave me the perfect experience, allowing me to bring my heroes with me and enjoy the game, without the players.
If GW2 ever gets heroes, it will hit on perfect. I like to do small things with friends and guildies, but could not give a toss about the rest of the faceless masses out there. I like games that don’t force me to have to do everything with other people, as the general public suck.
It isn’t an MMo anyways, it’s a multiplayer solo game.
Class switching pops up in most MMo’s as a suggestion, and one of the more ridiculous ones. It doesn’t even bode discussion. Why would a company allow you to skip out their entire game just because you don’t want to learn a new class?
There was a guest weekend a few weeks back in which you would invite up to 3 friends.
No no, Guesting being the function where you can be on one realm, and yet if someone invites you to a party from another, you will join them on their realm to play with them, while in their group.
Translation – I am not skilled enough to avoid death in Guild Wars 2, so now im going to have a good cry about it, and throw my dolls out my pram.
Simple question. If I play on my EU server, can I guest onto the US ones to join friends there yet?
This feature was heavily advertised on release, and have seen nothing of it being implemented. Considering coming back again for a few months, but I really hope this gets added if it’s not already in.
Any ideas please?
I would like to see a central pool of learned dyes for my characters, as I really don’t care about them enough to begin with, and then finding im on a character who has learned none, when another has learned tonnes when it comes to gear colors just annoys me.
It does seem that the account wide stuff is getting more dynamic though.
Just adding my 2c into the mix. It would be great to get the bonuses, but at the same time, meh. I don’t play enough to lose any sleep over it.
Yup fixed it by setting Render to Super Sample – Thanks!

Better example there.
I am not sure if this has been reported, but whenever I spin my camera to specific angles, I get transparent terrain, and am able to see under everything.

It’s actually a great idea, as the request to link achi and GS shows me someone to be placed on ignore. These people are the moronic core of idiocy.
This crap didn’t wash in WoW and isn’t going to wash here. If you want the rewards do the work for it. Stop hindering those who want to excel because you haven’t got the capacity to do so.
yeah the mmo player mentality is what made them leave games with no lategame, and its what made these mmorpgs with no lategame fail and go f2p after some months, how did u notice that?
Exhibit A.
That guy is just a negative nancy. In every post he makes its nothing but negativity.
Exactly
Why are you even trying to reach a poi if you don’t like exploring?
To level up so I’m able to do my personal story quests…it’s not like I have another choice since I can’t quest grind, hate the crafting system due to item costs, and don’t like the way that pvp is set up.
You know, I don’t stand in McDonalds ranting about why I don’t eat their food to their customers. I just don’t eat there. I wonder why you are playing GW2 when you hate all of it’s core functions.
yeah the mmo player mentality is what made them leave games with no lategame, and its what made these mmorpgs with no lategame fail and go f2p after some months, how did u notice that?
Exhibit A.
Um how did the OP miss the core function of this game? It’s not even discussion worthy, they have literally missed the entire point in every way of what this game is both about and aimed at.
Just blocked someone ingame to test, everything they said was auto removed from chat and they were blocked from all comms(had them test it).
unfortunately home laptops have the ability to constantly backup changes and AT LEAST hourly backups
ANet’s servers apparently back up every 24 hours, cause thats the amount of time i lost
Go to Walmart, pick up a $50 verson of the Crap Norton and it will do a better job of backing up the Character Databases then whatever they got going
Not to be mean or anything, but this is one of the dumbest things I have ever read on an internet forum >_>
Not even gonna bother explaining the bot report process. It’s a lot more complex than you might think, but it’s going to fall on deaf ears.
Also this thread appears on every other MMo forum too. You people don’t want an answer, you just want to complain.
I don’t know about WoW but when Rift launched there was no “there is no endgame” threads. And the only threads there leaving were for GW2.
Oh there most definately were, I remember reading a few of them as I played RiFT for a while too.
But if thats what you got from the original post, then the point has been completely missed.
So here I am, playing Guild Wars 2, and WoW in tandem. I play a little of one, a little of the other, and recently played SWTOR and Aion and TERA too.
You know one thing these games all have in common?
The forums.
The games are in actual fact all good games, mostly great infact, but they all share common similarities in their forum posts.
“THERE IS NO ENDGAME”
“GAME IS DEAD I QUIT”
“OMG THIS IS WORST GAME EVER”
“HAH IM GOING TO <insert one of the above titles here> INSTEAD”
Now I am no Freud, nor do I claim to be the smartest jewel in the crown, but im clever, and I have at least common sense enough to see where alot of these games problems lie, and it is with the mentality of the players themselves.
Remember i’m generalizing here, but wanting to make a point that in each forum, the same threads pop up claiming the grass is much greener on the other side, the game sucks and the whole world is collapsing with the sky falling down. The games all survive, even if they change sub models or lose players, they still trudge on, in spite of these noisy little foghorns.
To me, I see the issue in that these people have raised their own expectations falsely so high, that their vision of whatever it is they are playing is so skewed, it will never be good enough for them, as they are convinced there are other games that far outshine the one they are currently focused on complaining about.
“No endgame” in the first few weeks following release day
Why would there be with no one sitting at endgame other than day 1 rushers and impatient people that aren’t worth pleasing in any case.
“This game sucks im quit for XXXX game”
Good, leave, you aren’t going to be noticed. Your feedback is useless as all you have done is rant about something, you have provided nothing constructive and you are just here to sit in the spotlight.
There are so many topics that are shared across all these forums, and yet the games still continue on, but as these players rant and rant and rant, others start to get persuaded to believe the same, and the game suffers, before it has even had a chance to begin. People who are genuinely enjoying themselves are saturated by these muppets, to a point where they have no choice but to begin thinking like them, as they are so loud and so vocal about it, it’s all you ever read.
My point is that the MMo community has a very small vocal bad element, that seems less intent on seeing things get great, and more intent on casting a dark shadow wherever they go, like locusts, diving in, destroying, and moving on to the next unsuspecting victim, and it really has to stop, as it’s completely destroying whats left of what used to be an epic genre.
I love this game alot, and not as a fanboy, but as someone who has come in with no expectations, and has been impressed massively by everything they have seen. The game is well paced, beautiful and intelligently designed, and stands out enough to keep my attention away from WoW, but I see it happening already, that the game is being worn by the silly muppets on these forums who make it their duty to bash it into destruction.
(edited by Bastion.2457)
The truth is, as a non-subscription game, the piles of money they made (and will make) from the box sales represents the majority of cash the game will bring in. Sales from the cash shop may help pay the day-to-day maintainance but the bulk of the profit comes from boxes. They’ve already made enough to guarantee an expansion and even advertised on the site that they are hiring.
.. I never understood comments like this.
I’m sorry, what facts do you have that back this “truth”? Are you the finance manager for ANet? Do you have any clue how much money has been been invested in the game prior to opening day to even validate whether they are in the black yet? Heck do you even really know the number of boxes / dd have been sold?
I’d love to see where you’re getting this highly qualified information from.
Are you?
My friends have quit, I have quit, and last night I saw only 2 people logged on in my guild of ~100 people. I give this game 1 month before it’s pretty much dead.
I just checked your guild ingame, and you are lying, as I have a character in it
- Fresh breath of air into a tired and dying genre
- Underwater combat is well tweaked and very fun to take part in
- Beautifully crafted world that takes my breath away
- Client that is very well optimized, running smoother than games released a few years ago on the same PC
- Ability to play with friends at any level anywhere, any time
- Dangling the carrot of Guesting (come on, me wants!)
- I hate to sound cheesy, but it puts the Massively Multiplayer back into MMoRPG
- Griefing has been kept to a minimum as the game rewards participation and co-operation
- Harsh economy, making every purchase count
- One AH for all realms and regions, meaning there will always be a good supply of what you need (although the AH itself is very confusing)
- Responsive, engaging combat that makes you feel like most fights are a fight to the death
- Instanced nodes, allowing you to grab that ore when you want to, not as a race with the 40 other people waiting behind you for someone to aggro the monsters in the way
- Beautiful music, ambient enough to be in the background, but well made enough to stand out
- Vistas, in that they reward you for exploring the backs, beyonds, peaks and troughs of the world
That’s just a few for now.
How does one quit that which has no fee?
The same way they quit anything… by no longer doing it.
It’s not complex.
But then if they come back, they unquit?
Quitting in MMo terms generally means unsubbing. Guild Wars isn’t really something you quit, you just take a break. Eventually you will see something you like and login again, but you don’t have to actually do anything to “quit”.
My point is that if you aren’t happy, wait for things to get patched or new content to be released.
In the words of a famous cowboy:
“I wish I could quit you”
How does one quit that which has no fee?
You calling me a troll? do you know what irony means? good job i guess, you successfully derailed this topic. Now you will jump to next topic to flame those who have complaints. Rinse and repeat.
Much like you are perpetuating? If you weren’t trying to troll, you wouldn’t be engaging me in my accused trolling. you would be continuing with the thread discussion.
Nope, instead you point out pointless and irrelevant points, derailing the thread and then trying to make it look like I did it. I am sad for you.
This topic is about OP and his problems not about how awesome you are and how much your priorities are in order.
But thanks for pointing it out. I am indeed awesome and have my life on track.
Also, why still perpetuate a battle you lost for?

Can we get back to the issue at hand?
I too lost some progress yesterday and I immediately recognized there was a rollback. Something serious went down with their authentication last night… errors with gems… something’s amiss this week and it’s pretty serious because it keeps taking down the TP… think financials database or something eerily similar.
Give it time.
I agree with this guy. Spot on. Issue is known, nothing we can do, we know we won’t get the progress back as the servers simply didn’t record it.
Also, now we are onto calling me a fanboy? Could you be anymore of a disgruntled forum troll Mickey?
bastion, it’s cool and all that you couldn’t care less about losing a few hours. but your opinions and priorities doesn’t apply to everyone else. What if I only had that 2 hours to play last night and everything was for naught?
Then the gaping void would open below your chair and swallow you whole as your soul is twisted in eternal torment.
For everyone else, they would wake up today, go “Bah that sucks” and carry on with their lives.
You know one of the best ways to solve issues is to keep telling those who are already fixing them there was an issue. That really helps cause it’s like someone standing over your shoulder while you pee going “Pee, keep peeing, you can do it, pee pee pee”.
Awesomesauces!
Pointing out mistakes in grammar and direction in someones post shows you have no other point. I win the thread! All hail me!
