The trick with non sub games is don’t play them till your eyes bleed. You have your whole life to do stuff, don’t cram it all into one day and then whine for the rest of your life that you did everything already.

I have been looking through a site dedicated to Guild Wars 2 armor sets, and found a set that would be perfect for my character. Now I am only level 32 on my Norn Mesmer, and have no idea how high end gear works, or how it is obtained, but the one I wanted was the Mistwalker set. I have attached a pic of it, and googled it, but cannot find out how it is obtained. I don’t want the PvP variant, as PvP doesn’t really interest me, and it looks horrible anyways.

Can someone please talk me through what is needed to obtain this gear set, as I literally don’t even know where to start, or what is involved in any form to get it. (If my mesmer cannot use it, then I will make another character that can, but still want to know what I need to do to get it please). I don’t care about stats in any way, just interested in the items skin.

Latency and legality. Things have changed since GW1 and Final Fantasy XI – Different regions now have very different operating rules, making it very difficult to mix the communities.

Such a sad state of mind.

More rewards, more rewards, more rewards!
And if you’re inevitably done with them?

Then we’ll have even more rewards!

Um I don’t mean to be rude here, but games basic core functions are to reward the player. Whether it be by giving them new areas to explore, scores to beat, special endings, achievements, new gear, weapons, items, more gold etc etc etc, a game is designed to reward you.

You put in time, and get an experience as a reward, in whatever way the game chooses to give that experience to you.

You are in the wrong place, and exploring the wrong hobby if you don’t know this.

New player's reaction to GW2

Bastion.2457

To jump in before the bored level cappers have their whine, it is a great experience. It is one of very few games I have played that makes me feel part of the world, but at the same time doesn’t force me to take part when I don’t want to.

The combat is fun, but you are correct in that there are no roles as such. All professions can be a healer, tank, or DPS in various forms and are able to self manage when in trouble, based on your skill selection.

The UI is slick and clean, and unobtrusive, but the learning curve is higher than most others (except FFXI, that game wins for the challenge of just getting started :P), so it can take time before you understand what it is that it is telling you is going on.

I am really glad to read this kind of thing though, as it covers my first experiences in the game perfectly too. I am not an MMo hardcore grinder, and GW2 appeals to that, as I can drop in and out whenever I please, to do what I want, when I want, and even though I started playing on release, I still haven’t gotten above level 31 on a character, as im too busy trying everything out and exploring. There is so much to do and see, providing you don’t skip past it all just to get to 80, stand in Lion’s Arch, and complain about ban waves.

I personally hate hearts, which is why I was so glad in CS there were none. >_> Also, you’d have to consider that different hearts are easier to do than others, and I guarantee some will be farmed the hell out of it just because it’s easy to do. Add in the trouble with downleveling, and you could be looking at lvl 80’s clogging up metrica province for an easy heart reward.

Then make easier hearts offer lower tier rewards. Simples.

Just to add. I am all for any additions to any MMo that don’t involve level cap stacking. IF a company wants to flesh out the journey, then go for it, but when they only add content to the end of the journey, I lose interest.

Giving me more things to do while I level would be great. Zone reputation, Player Housing, NPC reputations etc etc etc, all great, and can be equally enjoyed by those who want to sit at the cap and complain there is nothing to do.

GW2 Official Mobile App coming?

Any news on the mobile app?

I remember reading a while back that there was one planned.

I would really like to see features such as mobile auction house access (the same as WoW’s now completely free Mobile Auction House). I would also like to be able to do inventory management and possibly crafting from the app too. All stuff that doesn’t require anything but a UI ingame.

Could also be integrated to add live maps ingame, showing events as they happen, so you can quickly see where something is happening, and also show you your characters map discoveries too, giving you options to map out routes on the app, and have the guide appear ingame to follow.

Just some simple ideas for the mobile app that I recall was promised some time ago. Any information on it yet please?

How about a Heart Link system?

We have the zone completion, but how about after all hearts in a zone are completed, you gain access to special vendors in LA that increase their goods the more links you get. Think about it like flight points in wow, where you have to connect them all up to use them. In the same respect, you need to connect all the hearts up to make their vendor items appear in LA too (like supply chains).

The more you connect the bigger the discount on the items. The amount of times I have missed a karma vendor with a huge upgrade, only to notice it way after passing its level.

I do like the idea of having zone rep and repeatable hearts though.

Something to consider

Bastion.2457

Areanant currently receives a lot of flak for theit actions. Actions that basically say “if we kitten up, you’ll pay for it.”

Players have agreed to TOS that basically say that ArenaNet can at any time permaban them for any or no reason at all. Players agree to such TOS because they’re commonplayce and the unspoken agreement it, that the gaming companies feel they have to reserve those rights for legal reasons but won’t use them unless in legal conflicts or for the worst of offenses.

ArenaNet has just demonstrated that all the time and effort spent in the game can at any moment evaporate. I’m not a crafter. I was not affected. However, I can completely understand how people would think that this time-limited (and thus limited in volume of ectos created due to the limited supply of snowflakes) crafting item was indeed introduced to bring down the inflated prices of ectos a bit.

Had I been a crafter and had I been aware of this, I might have fallen into this trap as well.

Bottom line is that seemingly normal actions can get you permabanned in this game. This is a unique feature of GW2, in no other MMO I know have permabans for company-mistakes been issued and issued so easily. Therefore, I highly doubt I will waste more time (let alone money) on GW2. After all, it could all be taken away any moment when the next mistake they make is labelled an exploit.

All wrong. Sorry mate, you clearly haven’t played any other MMo’s then.

Why is the taboo topic on this forum taboo?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Its their forums, so they can and will do whatever they see fit. Its their right.

Actually that’s not entirely true. Silencing complaint and customer request is actually against the consumer rights act, and should a company provide a channel for concern or complaint, they cannot moderate it or edit the complaint in any way until it is resolved.

I also believe ANet is an open source company, meaning that their behaviours and activites are open for all to see through Gamesindustry.biz, so why are they so careful here?

Seriously ANet, you are going to find yourselves on WatchDog if you keep up this kind of policing on your forums, as someone is going to think you might have something you want to keep hidden.

Bastion.2457

Hey there!

I read these forums when I get the chance and see overwhelming anger and negativity about random stuff, that of which I still have yet to actually experience myself ingame. I wanted to take a moment just to say I think the game is brilliant in it’s current state, and really look forwards to seeing where the game is in 12-24 months.

I slowly chip away at the content each day, gaining a level at a time, checking all the nooks and crannies around the world, and have still yet to explore further than the starter zones, and have been playing since day 1. The furthest I have been so far is to the 15-25 Human and Norn areas, and think all the zones thus far have been very artfully crafted.

The game gives me a good sense of accomplishment, and I already feel I have gotten my monies worth from it. I don’t really care much for endgame stacking, so top level stuff won’t really be of much interest to me, and this game caters well for that, as the actual levelling experience is very rich and interesting, always pulling me through events and storylines that I didn’t expect, and little happenings here and there in this gorgeous world that keep me logging in for an hour or 2 each day.

I don’t think this game was designed for the 25/7 gamer, nor do I think it has much to cater for them, instead being designed for the drop in gamer, that wants the MMo lite experience, of being in a living breathing world, without the pressure of evening commitments each day for that insatiable gear grind.

I think the forum admin is very strict though, and needs looking into as it seems they lock and action any post that dares to question them, and can be very frustrating, when our only intention is to provide feedback and help keep the game up and running.

I did also have a rather terrible experience with Arena.net customer support, where I wanted my Guild Wars 1 account attached to this one, and after reams of return emails based on what I can only assume was a misunderstanding, it was finally resolved by a very polite and helpful individual.

My experience so far has been excellent (CS blip aside) and I really am enjoying the game. Guesting has appeared in part for same region servers, but hope to see that spread across all regions without limitations, as I recall this being a release feature that was very heavily advertised and has yet to gain full implementation.

The world events have been fun and engaging, if a little too hard in places for lower level players, but being knocked up to 80 to take part is a nice touch, and on that note, I love the levelling down to the zones level. It makes every zone feel like a challenge, and keeps the content usable and fresh. I can’t ever see the game outdating itself due to this. I could do without alot of the event jumping puzzles though, as they annoy rather than entertain, due to their design being that they crumble behind you, and leave you waiting around for ages to retry.

All in all, a Grade A experience and a Grade A game, and just wanted to drop in my 2c as people are quick to complain, but seldom point out when they are content.

Thanks Arena.net for this amazing game, keep up the great work!

You know what this is, Arenanet makes a mistake and sees that players won’t have to buy gems anymore so they remove em, as they are useless to them now…

Easily the silliest thing I have read today. I love how you think this is how companies work though lol. Tell me, in this company, do they also have a department for designing the ultimate Wacky Racer, and another dedicated to catching that darn pigeon?

I’m actually shocked you DONT think this is how companies work. Arenanet made a system where you can buy gold directly through them for real money, AND made gold very scarce in the game. Doesnt take a genius to see that anything that threatens the in game economy, and the scarcity of wealth is a threat to their bottom line.

Indeed, they are the ones making a mistake, and this isn’t as obvious as the karma stuff, my guildies certainly weren’t considering this an exploit. Now you can call em dumb and brainless, but they aren’t, they just thought they found a gap in the market.

Finding a recipe that gives you more mats than you used to make something is not a gap in the market. It’s a very obvious exploit, and I grant you some exploits are not as clear cut, but for you to think that something that gives more back than you use to make is not an exploit, well sir, im sorry for your genes.

As someone in a similar company, I can tell you there is no “evil corporation” department, only departments dedicated to producing great games, excellent customer service, and better and better products. People are delusional if they think companies go out of their way to make things uncomfortable for their customer.

The product is you, so you need to be treated with the utmost care and attention. It kind of scares me how few people have a realistic view of how the world works sometimes, thanks in part to hollywood movies and cartoons.

I find this extremely funny!! They make a game that has so much potential and could go extremely far because they do not know how to run a class 1 MMO. Mistake after mistake keeps happening and you will have to think how you are going to fix it before it is too late.

Lesson One – Don’t kitten off your customer base.

Lesson Two – If you kitten up don’t hold your customers accountable.

Well for me I will continue to play while I find this game fun. Sadly this company has lost all the respect from me and will Never receive another penny from my wallet.

Nope.

People don’t come to the game because they do or do not action exploiters. People come to videogames based on reviews, trailers, and playing it themselves. The forums are always the last place I look when choosing a new game to play, as generally they are filled with bog beasts and bottom feeders.

People also don’t leave games because people who are exploiting get banned. People tend to not also leave games for being banned, they just rebuy and start again, no matter how much flashy mouth they use on their initial exit.

People quit when they quit, and return when they return, but never as a reason of some people in a game they play getting rightly actioned for exploitation.

It isn’t cheating, yes you could make allot of money with it if you did it first, but that’s the entire point, they did it first, i was to late and the snowflake prices had already balanced out. But it’s simple market play, it’s not exploiting…

Where is the spirit from GW1? Remember all those farms? Urgoz spiritfarm, 55, Perma sin, Obsidian tank. You could basicly make 200 k in a few hours if you were the first to go there and find it out.

It’s cheating as you are “EXPLOITING” a broken recipe to make massive gains at no cost to yourself.

Every MMo player knows that, following a patch, a vendor selling items for cheaper than they sell for = infinite gold = exploit = report and DO NOT GO NEAR IT.

Every MMo player knows that, following a patch, an NPC respawning instantly offering great drops, or has accidentally had it’s super rare drop made 100% = infinite gold = exploit = report and DO NOT GO NEAR IT.

Every MMo player knows that, following a patch, a recipe that is broken to give MASSIVE gains from little to no loss = inifinite gold = exploit = report and DO NOT GO NEAR IT.

You people really need to stop pretending you don’t understand this stuff. The developers aren’t stupid, and your continual belief that acting innocent makes it an innocent act doesn’t wash. You are still going to get banned for it, no matter who was on the toilet at the time while your brother destroyed the economy, and you were chained up so you simply couldn’t stop him, because it wasn’t your fault.

Well excuse me doctor Einstein.

I play with allot of people who just aren’t your typical mmo player. They can make money of a recipe and they do it. Now 2 of my guildies both made 50 ecto’s crafting like this, i haven’t hear from em yet, but they are normal people, who just found a way to make some ecto’s progressing towards their legendairy. I had dusk drop for me in the karka event. They made 50 ecto’s, and you can say i made 500 g(did equip the dusk), they didn’t exploit as i didn’t either. I got lucky on the karka event, they came before the curve on the trading post. A few hours later they told me about it and it was already worthless to do it because the TP had leveled prices.

Now fyi they didn’t craft the first tier of snowflake things, wich was locked already, they crafted the second highest tier and trew em in the mystic forge. I have no idea if the first tier was bugged or broken, but if they are banned for making honest crafting gold (aka second tier) it’s just stupid.

tl;dr you exploit, you pay the price. Simple.

Way to stick it to the man lol. I WILL NOT PLAY THE GAME I HAVE PAID IN FULL FOR!

If you think farming is the only way to play GW2, maybe it’s really a good idea to not play it at all…

THATS what you took from that lol. Man you people should band together and solve crimes. You could ride around in a little van with a talking dog and everything.

Lordy lordy lordy you people lol.
