This price leap makes no sense to me. It’s just like the dye news back in March. If minis unlock account wide I would have expected a flood of duplicates boosting supply. And like dyes I expect a price crash right after the patch hits.

AMD have released slightly better FX CPUs, the -8370 and lower wattage -8370e. The -8370 bumps maximum turbo to 4.3GHz from 4.2GHz while the -8370e lowers the base clock from 4.0GHz to 3.3GHz while maintaining the 4.3GHz turbo but uses 30 watts less power.
Yes it’s a very minor update. The limitations of the FX- series is clearly illustrated in the Cinebench charts on this page (bottom) where the 8 core FX-8370e almost matches the 4 core i5-4590 in the multi-thread test but is seriously spanked in the single thread test.

The only contamination that the Gem Shop introduced is the seemingly pathological drive for players to earn enough gold to never pay cash for anything from the Gem (Cash) Shop. That and the price of lux items like precursors and legendaries drive players to “grind” and find ways to maximize gold/hour.
Now the exchange was designed to raise the price of gems as long as more gems were bought then sold until gold for gems becomes attractive. It’s prime purpose is to finance the gold for gems side of the exchange with player gold from the gems for gold side of the exchange.
Would I like to see new skins in game, sure. Do I think BL tickets from chests are a rip-off, only there to obfuscate the true cost of ticket skins, sure do. Does this drive key farming, yep.

Sounds like you had the marketing labeled Phenom II X4 850 which is really an Athlon II X4 because of the lack of the L3 cache.
So 1118 Single Threaded | Overall: 3552
I’ve seen the game average around 2 to 3 cores worth of work during the game so if we scale the overall numbers to that we get
i5-4670K | 3861 – 5792
FX-8350 | 2256 – 3384
PII 850 | 1776 – 2664
So likely better than the Phenom II you had by a little bit but significantly worse the the i5.
Now that will be seen more in large player events rather than smaller events like dungeons.

This reasoning was before they made the color adjustable for free. We don’t know if they are reconsidering the refund policy because of the change.

Someone opened 1000 chests when we knew they were in there and didn’t get any.
Now people have said they had gotten one after they were supposedly removed. That’s all we know.

Seen one place that suggests on average blue give you 11 EoL, green 30 EoL and cracking an ecto from a rare or exotic salvage gives 110 EoL.
RIP City of Heroes
Someone opened 1000 chests and didn’t get it. It is beyond rare from chests so why would anyone grind for it?
And yes, it’s just hair and face kit.

TR didn’t have enough content at launch. It was buggy as heck since it was pushed out the door years late and a major change of direction. They had finally got it into shape just as it got canceled by NCSOFT.
Destination Games was bought by NCSOFT in 2001. ANet in 2002. Tabula Rasa came out 2 1/2 years after GW. From NCSOFT’s POV, they bought a bunch of talent from Blizzard (ANet) and the people behind UO. ANet delivered, DG didn’t.
GW2 has a heck of a lot of content at ship time and it was fairly stable. The Eurogamer article pretty much outlined why TR failed and NCSOFT interference wasn’t one of them. $100 million cost, 7 years of development, 50K copies sold at launch with dismal subscription retention. It had income south of $15 million when it was up. The ROI on the investment was terrible so NCSOFT cut and ran.

Downed states have been a regular feature games for a long time by now. It’s not revolutionary.
The real solution was to either have a scripted tutorial sequence teaching you stuff like this, or if that’s too much dev effort, just pop up bubbles telling you what you can do the first few times you get downed.
Changing its appearance to level 5 won’t do anything.
First time I’ve seen it in an MMO.
RIP City of Heroes
Not scared, confused. A new skill bar pops up that I’ve never seen before with skills I didn’t know what they did. Spamming one seems to be attack and it becomes a race to finish off the attacker before my HP is truly gone. While they have descriptions if you hover the mouse over them, in the heat of the moment you don’t have time to check out the skills. On defeat or rally the bar goes away and you can’t check the skills out.
It’s like having the flight attendant go over the safety card after the oxygen masks drop. You are too panic to bother.
RIP City of Heroes
I know I would never buy keys if I didn’t have chests to use them on.
RIP City of Heroes
this guyz can destroy more than 2 million from buyd chests and still make a lot profit with the other 1 million^^
No.
First he has to sell them at a price that’s higher then he bought them at. The price did not go from 6c to 48c instantly. So the average cost is a lot higher than most people here think. It cost roughly 3000g to buy the 1.6 million units during those 4 quick buy ups on the 17th, 19th, 20th and the 27th. That’s roughly 18c each so counting in the TP tax they would need to sell 45% just to break even. This last buy of 333K units had an average cost of 36c and they would need to sell 87% of it at 49c just to break even.
No the only people who are cleaning up are those that bought nearly 5 million between Chirstmas and the mid August when the price was between 2c and 7c each and held onto some of that until now.
RIP City of Heroes
Not until more players buy gems with cash and sell them for gold than players using their gold to buy gems.
So unlikely it will ever return to those levels.
Anyways items at the Gem Shop aren’t suppose to be free. Paying cash for gems is the primary means that the game is financed month to month. Buying gems with gold only lets them to finance the other side of the exchange so gold isn’t magically added to the game when a player converts gems to gold. It was once gold paid for gems.
And until balance is reached between sellers of gold and sellers of gems, the rate will continue to go up.

Master kits are 15.36s per 25. The Silver-Fed is 25s per 25 plus it costs 500 gems.
I think the most rares/exotics I ever had dropped on me in one game session was 12. And since I always end my session in a city, there is no problem getting master kits. And Mystic kits are good for 250. Of course if you buying Mystic Forge Stones at the Gem Shop then Mystic kits price does go up quite a bit.
Best price for MFS is 45 gems each. A Mystic kit needs 3 and the 3 highest priced kits to make one. So that’s 135 gems and 26.24s. 135 gems is around $1.69 or as of “now” (17.11g per 100 gems) around 2310s bringing the total close to 2335s per kit or 9.35s per use.
The Silver-Fed costs $6.25 or 8555s in gems plus 1s per use. This makes break even at around 1025 uses. But only if you buy Mystic Forge Stones. I have a half a stack that I got for free so far in the game from dailies and achievement chests.
So what have we learned today. The per salvage costs are;
10.50c per use – Mystic kit made with free Mystic Forge Stones
61.44c per use – Master Kit
100c per use – Silver-Fed kit + one time 500 Gems
~935c per use – Mystic kit made with Gem Shop Mystic Forge Stones bought with gold.

How ironic that the smart loot system is a very very stupid idea.
Im not sure if anet devs are playing the game or not but if they do, they shouldve notice how crappy medium and heavy armors are compared to light armors.
If this gets implemented, nobody will run medium armor and heavy armor classes anymore because compared to how much you can earn from salvaging light armors, the two are super cheap.
To Anet:
I hope you play the game once in a while before trying to implement some changes. Last thing we want from this game is to lose class variety.
Warriors are currently non existent in cursed shore farming due to them suck at tagging mobs. By implementing this system, cursed shore will be full of necros and elems since salvaging light armors gives you silk scraps which you can sell for 2silvers each. Nobody will farm using heavy and medium anymore once this smart loot gets implemented.
Think twice anet. Play the game and see firsthand before making changes to farming in game.
Yea, right. Because it’s all about the Benjamins. Because that’s the primary reason a player picks class, salvaging their drops for coin.
First of all drops are not exclusively usable by your profession, it’s just more likely usable by your profession.
Finally, since we believe that, especially for newer players, good rewards mean things you can play with (and not just things that may happen to valuable on the Trading Post), we’ve made it so that you’re more likely to get loot that you can use. It’s still possible for a warrior to get a new staff to sell or for mesmers to find a rare rifle, but it’ll be a bit less common than it was before.
Is everything about this game is examined in terms of gold production. What ever happen to playing games for fun?

Lot of not sane people here.

I’m in the 110s and I have notice a shift in quality (color) of what gets dropped.
But you can do this by salvaging blues and greens. Buying stuff to salvage for luck? No.

But who carries silver ore around all the time? 1/2 silver I can get behind at the same gem price as the copper fed. Full silver, no way unless they bumped up the recovery stats.
RIP City of Heroes
On a similar thread, somebody did the math and it could be just a really good flipper. After the price rose to ~40C, they would have easily made back the coin they paid and after that it’s pure profit.
Except the supply hadn’t returned. They would have to put chests back for sale at such a low rate to keep the supply numbers down it would take a really long time to profit. We’re talking 1.6 million in existing supply bought over the mater of a few hours four different times. That’s around 6400 stacks give or take. If they could sell a stack an hour that’ll be 9 months to get rid of them all. But we have no idea what the daily trade volume on BLC are like.
There was 8 million of them around last Chirstmas and prices were down to 2c/1c. There’s a reason there were that many, nobody wanted them. Key farming became more popular and I can see that taking some of them out of the market but this much this quickly? There is something else motivating them.
RIP City of Heroes
Between that and the Gem Shop sale, there’s a lot of gold being vacuumed out of the economy.
Sadly I can see a lot of players feeling the need to farm even more to recover all that gold rather than enjoy playing the game for fun.

isnt the trading post the same for eu and us, probably also the same for china which is a whole mess more of people playing the game and possibly buying or farming keys and needing chests.
plus there could be a lot of speculation going on.
Drop wise I can say it doesnt seem like anything has been changed, got several yesterday so that can only mean something to do with the demand.
No, China is on their own TP. Only NA and EU are shared.
RIP City of Heroes
Over 3,000,000 (yes, 3 MILLION) chests have been sold or otherwise removed from the TP this month alone.
July 30th – 3,928,706 chests on the TP.
August 30th – 843,395 chests on the TP.That’s a reduction of 3,085,311 chests in 1 month.
That seems a bit more than mere “speculation”.
Well the first 1 million took 17 days to remove. That didn’t bother me. However the removal of around 1.6 million in a period of 8 hours in four batches, that’s interesting.
RIP City of Heroes
I was hoping this would be a post about the gold-to-gem/gem-to-gold differences. not that I’m mad, I kinda understand the idea behind it, but buying one hundred gems for an average of 13g and then selling your gems for an average of 9g seems a tad lame to me.
am I missing something? can someone please explain how gems work again so I can understand this better?
The difference between the two rates is exactly 85% squared. Basically gold going in and coming out appears to get the same 15% gold sink that a TP transaction gets.
The difference also helps encourage the true purpose of sell gold for gems and that is spending those gems in the Gem Shop rather than gems be some kind of commodity that can be traded like an item on the TP.

Since the 1st feature pack last April 15th, demand was slashed, supply was cut but every player with a duplicate color got a unidentified dye as compensation.
For the few weeks before the April 15th pack, speculation drove up the price of all dyes and when the patch hit, there was a massive sell off with many dyes priced well bellow pre-speculation prices. It’s been four and a half months since then. Maybe the ones you’re looking at are now running low on supply.
Right now the only was to get dyes now is buying them from the Gem Shop, find a unidye in a chest or buy a unidye for laurels (at 10x the previous cost) or craft unidentified <color> dyes as a chef.
I looked at Blue Ice Dye, highest supply fine dye at the moment. Feb 1st, 21.13s; Apr 16th, 69c; Aug 30th, 1.47s.
Tangerine Dye, the one with the lowest supply. Feb 1st, 2.35s; Apr 16th, 39c; Aug 30th 1.50s.
While dyes are going up, I’m more inclined to say they are returning to previous levels, possibly due to a lack of supply finally catching up to the new lower demand with many still below previous “normal” prices.
RIP City of Heroes
I get roughly one per node on average with the pick. How many did you want to find? A sprocket generator gives around 10 per day.
RIP City of Heroes
Someone siphoned another 333K chests off the market in 2 hours Wednesday morning (my time). Since you start buying from the cheapest and work your way up in price …
It makes no sense. Chests drop frequently enough. I chalk it up to more FP2 speculation.
RIP City of Heroes
(edited by Behellagh.1468)
It’s a bug fix. Nobody should have owned the instance and now this will be true.
RIP City of Heroes
Oh please, with the exception of a few dyes like Abyss, the rest of the over 1g dyes are cheaper than they were in January, before the dye rumors from China and the confirmation in March. And the purer black and white dyes always were at the top of the price heap.
And in each of the cases you’ve outlined, supply was significantly drained off to force the price higher. Classic attempts at price manipulation of low supply items. At least it’s cheaper to do it with dyes than with precursors.
And as for unidentified dyes. The supply has dropped from 100K nearly two weeks ago to 40K today. Another attempt to clean out the low items for sale so the ones posted during the speculation period after the 1st feature pack announcement when prices shot up over the 30s pre-speculation price.

It’s a problem all MMO companies face I have never heard anyone who has successfully done so in the long term except by banning low level characters from everything but local chat, our /say, to localize the damage. Any text filter is just too easy to circumvent.
So it’s whack a player reported gold seller.

Of course not, that’s silly. But obviously you haven’t seen the “what to do now? next PS chapter is x levels higher than me” posts over the years on the Player Helping Player board.
RIP City of Heroes
I’m guessing save face but lets make sure this doesn’t slip though the cracks post sale and make noise if the cost break for volume doesn’t return.
RIP City of Heroes
Honestly, everything was done a month or more ago, with the exception of the Commander Tag “fix”. It’s put to bed and is just waiting for the roll out.
RIP City of Heroes
But it was a problem. New players, not knowing better, was following the green dot even if it led them into areas that were significantly to high of a level for them.
What it sounds like what they did is lock the chapters until you are a level where you can to the whole chapter. So first chapter story ends at Level 10, so now you must be Level 10 to start the chapter. Coupled with “the arrow of what to do next” should relieve a lot of confusion from new players who are used to a quest chain leading them by the nose across the world.
RIP City of Heroes
I speculate someone messed up and this was the easy/lazy way to fix it until the sale ends.
RIP City of Heroes
Maybe, but after mining several nodes I noticed I did not get any jewels at all, while got sprockets. Using a regular pick I usually get 1,2 jewels per 2 nodes but now – nothing. Just sprockets.
I get both, sometimes off the same node.
RIP City of Heroes
Because the other dozen threads on the silliness of this device wasn’t enough.
RIP City of Heroes
Not as much as bait and switch as lazy mistake followed by a lazy “fix it” by changing the pre-sale price. There is some minion who screwed up and when told to fix it and they decided to do what was easiest for them.
RIP City of Heroes
You report in game and then block.
RIP City of Heroes
You repeatedly start a new human character, I think a Guardian with a staff and do the first few personal story missions, not sure how you should answer the questions or if that maters. I think the reward on the fourth mission is a key. Put it in your bank, delete the character and do it again. It should only take you 20 minutes or so once you get it down.
But since they are changing how personal stories are done and the rewards you get from it on Sept 9th, it’s not long for this world.
As for other tips, see the OMG sticky thread at the top of this forum.
RIP City of Heroes
Still it doesn’t take a vet to realize that a master kit is 61c and change per salvage while this is a whole silver and doesn’t perform better than a master kit.
RIP City of Heroes
But a lot of those changes were made to the China release due to research from the American release. They knew more when they made the Chinese release.
I agree with this. It’s GW2 V2.0. From Global Guilds to a more guided tutorial/help for new players who are accustom to be led from area to area. Making leveling a big thing rather than a muted “oh look, I have skill points to spend”. Yes it’s skinner boxish but other than a flash along the XP bar as it resets leveling in this game is fairly uneventful. There’s no “gratz” because nobody quite notices, even you.
I also like skewing drops more toward your profession. Do you want players to buy what they need or do you just want them to sell what’s not wanted.
And yes it’s not all good. I’ll hate it if weapon swap is moved to a higher level unlock and while I agree that the downed skills menu is confusing for a newbie, was to me, pushing it off to level 5 feels is a little late for me.
RIP City of Heroes
Duh, watchwork of course. Free sprocket on average per 3 wacks. I got around 40 watchwork sprockets last night at 4s each.
RIP City of Heroes
But downleveling is meant so you can play with lower level characters. While true it takes me fewer hits to take down a critter than a new character of that level I can still be taken out if I let my guard down or pull the aggro of a champ. Still don’t understand the aggro system in this game. A lot of it seems to be first to hit gets all the aggro and it sticks for a very long time even if I’m attacking at range and a handful of other players are at melee.
RIP City of Heroes
