Well the 10% spike in the exchange rate certainly looks like players are converting gold for these. This may be an interesting experiment, will more gold get converted when it’s something very cheap gem wise due to a massive discount Vs a “normal” 20-30% off sale.
People are foolish if they are using gold for gem at the current conversion rate…they are paying for more then double then what it cost.
Yes but many players feel that gold to gems = “free”. You can always get more gold.

I do expect that even HOt become free?
Indeed. HoT will become free in future (or included for free in core game) when next expansion (after HoT) will come. People will always have to buy 1 game, or the latest expansion for 50$.
In other words, everything else (expansions from the past) will be given for free, while the latest expansion will cost 50$ and will be considered full access to the game (with no limitations).
Yup. Though whether they make HoT a part of the F2P accounts is something we do not know. My guess is that all expansions will never be a part of the free accounts.
Agreed.
RIP City of Heroes
Ascended crafting followed the template used for lower quality armors. Any weight requires one cloth and each weight requires two components crafted from it’s normal material, cloth/leather/metal.
Now Damask. Yes it requires twice as much T5 to make it’s ascended intermediate than either of the other two and silk bolts cost 50% more raw materials than either the metal or leather ones.
Yes, it’s overkill. One or the other would have likely drained the supply enough to move it off the TP minimum has made the cost to craft roughly 3x as much as Elonian Leather or Deldrimor Steel and Damask is needed in all types of ascended armor, it’s increased demand means it sells at even more of a markup.
What we don’t know is the rate that silk is coming into the game relative to the amount is being used up crafting Damask. If they did drop the bolt of silk requirement from 100 to 50 so it matched the other two, would a glut start to build again causing a price collapse for silk scraps? Only the John Smith knows and he’s being Kosh like always.
RIP City of Heroes
Can’t sneeze at 90% off. Wouldn’t normally ever buy those but 48 gems for both? I still have a pile of gems so why not.
RIP City of Heroes
I’ve watch one or two of his other videos, usually his after game con ones that list what games he thought were interesting. And his Fant4stic review.
I didn’t see the No Punctuation review of GW2 either until I already had the game for months. I simply bought the game because of the no subscription fee and it was least likely to be an Asian grind/PvP fest and that was nearly 3 years ago.
RIP City of Heroes
But the problem is that there are thousands of items on the TP so any list could be huge. And currently the game API that lets us dump info on all the TP items doesn’t have a field that shows P4F restricted otherwise list would have been done already.
Now it’s nice that they show P4F players what items they can’t get as another incentive to buy the game.
RIP City of Heroes
Rumor is it’s a way to test their new NPC critter AI on a large scale.

I thought the vet slot came out once a week on Fridays.

Yeah, it’s the 15-25 maps without boss train event maps.
RIP City of Heroes
They did that before, I think when they had the month of daily sales so it’s not something they’ve done regularly.
But we can always hope.
RIP City of Heroes
Simplest reason. I don’t want to haul around lots of armor. I don’t have the space ankitten ot interested is spending the coin on multiple sets.
RIP City of Heroes
After TP fees T6 crafting bags are roughly worth 90 silver each, on average.
It depends on your preferences. In the beginning everybody horded laurels for ascended accessories. I bought the puppy. And early on I bought gear before I made it to the temples on my first character, but this was during the first few months of laurels.
But it would be easier to ask what is worth buying than asking the opposite.
RIP City of Heroes
Must be a lot of HP fans as the gem exchange spiked.
RIP City of Heroes
Only heard about Angry Joe months after I had the game.
Now if he does a video to draw in P4F players who join his “army”, then it’ll be interesting.
Edit: fix typo

Well I guess they will have to buy the game, or wait a long time if they want an ascended amulet.
But considering how much coin can be raised by selling or converting the login rewards they had to put the kibosh on it for P4F accounts.
RIP City of Heroes
The event isn’t continuous so it may not empty the other maps all the time.
RIP City of Heroes
Some of the items I looked at on the TP with my P4F account has a dialog that lists both time and HoT ownership to access. Of course basic and fine mats seem tradeable right off the bat. But a pattern isn’t easy to find.
Of course legendaries and precursors seem to be off limits as well as skins.
RIP City of Heroes
There rare as hen’s teeth for the individual but it happens daily across the entire playerbase.
Just because you don’t win the lottery doesn’t mean nobody did.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s the weekend after the US Labor Day holiday.
Considering the zones it’s limited to, it’s really targeting the P4F players who just started the game Saturday. They are also pushing guild recruitment during this time and the datamine of potential rewards you can by with event loot are targeting players who haven’t bought LS 2 but want Mawdrey or at least a kickstart for Maguma Wastes rewards, but we’ll see if that’s the case.
RIP City of Heroes
The deluxe upgrade only upgrades the core game, it may be one of those items a P4F player won’t be able to find in the Gem Shop.
Assuming that’s true, the only way to get a full account from ANet is buying, with cash HoT. Of course there still sites that might be selling the original box game.
EDIT Yep, not available on P4F accounts.

NCSoft still has Anet by the kittens. Nothing has changed really. Anet will still get less funding than what they have made, as most of it will go for Aion and other korean crap.
And that’s not how subsidiaries work but thank you for playing.
RIP City of Heroes
Ah, I misread the OP, thought he meant to say armorsmith.
Of course weaponsmith can’t craft it. Do you bash critters with your backpiece? No. So it’s one of the armor crafts.
Silly rabbit.
RIP City of Heroes
Aren’t spinal blade back pieces made in the Mystic Forge and therefore available to anyone?
RIP City of Heroes
That’s weird. Also the Flame dye offer was good for only one day. It’s over when the sale refresh happens at 16:00 UTC/GMT!
No idea if the bag slot or minis are also going due to the “You can by X more at this price” tag where the countdown would normally show.

While true, NCSOFT’s ownership, as a subsidiary ANet’s real contribution to NCSOFT is the folding of their financials into NCSOFT’s for reporting purposes. As long as ANet continues to make money and has significant annual sales, NCSOFT really has nothing to complain about.
The biggest change for ANet is I think this means they lost their banker/sugar daddy support from ANet unless the two wish to reestablish the relationship. Meaning that future development costs have to be paid for by the GW2’s income.
It’s also possible that the original financial arrangement for funding GW2 was that ANet was obligated to release one expansion. And with it’s release on the horizon, that obligation is met.

Forum has had this bug like forever.
It’s not that there are only five in the world, just five for sale. People who have the skin sitting in the bank understands that nobody, well seller, wins if a price war erupts on an item that haven’t seen any way to get more of in nearly 3 years. And whoever holds onto the last one wins.
And for the Ghastly Shield, I count 8 sales in the last month not counting those that went to a high bidder and 3 for the Greatsaw.
Same thing is true with ticket skins and exclusive dyes although they take a hit more frequently with items returning to the Gem Shop or ticket exchanger.
Why is it none of you can view these for what they are? High end collectibles… limited time items of limited availability in a supply and demand market… what’s confusing?
I don’t have a problem with it. I was simply countering that they are only X left in the game. And if you are sitting on one, why get into a price war?
and you all are missing the point fully here. and oh there is no X or aZ or A even evolved into this . that is not what this and the original topic was about till a mod got merge happy out of the blue . it is about this and that is there was no birthday week . and from what i know there might not be a Halloween as well this year . now you all can fight about A and X and Z all you like np at all . if that is what makes you happy fine so be it. but getting back on topic here ask you self’s this one and only one question why why is it there is no birthday party,s in la this year. and why is it there has not been very many Holiday in game event,s . like there was in GW1 . my book says this if it,s pay they want to do these events all weekend long . then why do they not just say so ???? or is it they just do not want to see the players have fun like we used to do for thos of us who played GW1 . just saying now i spoken my peace about this topic . and hope it does not get locked like all the other topics have been. and there is good ideas and talk that come out of topic now with that said iam off to find me some fun !!!
I would like to buy a line break.
The OP was wondering if we were going to get Halloween since HoT is being released before hand and Colin said in an interview we would. His next question is if skins from 2012 would get released again. This will be the 4th Halloween and other than a raffle last year, 2012 skins haven’t returned as a BLTC item.
Now this is where the conversation wandered. The notion that nobody is buying those skins off the TP at the current price. But players are. Sure rereleasing them will drop the price a bit and more players can get one but they were skins tied to a one time event in the past and those skins can be used as a symbol that a player “was around then”. Even if they did buy one for 40g off the TP (which was about $40€ of gems then which is 600 gold today) back then.
But right now those skins are priced at what the market will bear.

And as I age I start to wonder how many people will get the joke. It’s a 40 year old film.

Bring up the Guildwars2 website. Select Services/Account and login with that account. On the account page go to the “Game Content” tab and you will find an “Add a Code” toward the bottom of the screen.

Nice video.

As I said earlier, I’ve been getting a lot of updated EULAs and Privacy revamps in the last week or so. That and the changes dealing with Germany specifically in the EULA, I assume that there was a new legal requirement in the EU about internet privacy and that you can’t hide behind a parent company (or more likely the parent company wants to firewall themselves from legal action if their subsidiary is caught with it’s hand in the browser cookie jar).
Legal housekeeping. Our previous one was from early 2013, Carbine’s from late last year and likely knew about the requirements and deadline so why not get it right immediately.
True, it’s supposition on my part based on dates and what I’ve seen recently in the last two weeks but I’m too lazy to look it up and see if I’m right.

Yeah I had a suspecial something like this was happening. Mainly because of the changed to the agreement.. NCSoft was changed to ArenaNet I noticed.
So maybe we will then go B2P?
As I said Carbine was that way already. The EULA changes were just legal housekeeping since ArenaNet is a subsidiary and thus really it’s own company and always has been.

NCSOFT still owns, indirectly, ArenaNet and has since 2002.
RIP City of Heroes
I was hoping the surprise was ArenaNet was buying out NC Holdings West and act as NCSOFT’s publishing arm for their games here as well as owning Carbine. Okay, they might have needed some outside investors to pull that off. Anyways.
NCSOFT was their “bank” during the development of both games. There influence was limited to when ANet was looking for an advance during development.
ANet hired it’s own ad agency for the launch of GW2 and not use the one NCSOFT had been using (what they run ads?).
ANet contracted a different company to run GW2 in China from the one NCSOFT uses.
As for the EULA, WildStar’s EULA was already NCSOFT free.
Actually I think some law about internet privacy went into effect today, Sept 1st as I’ve encountered a number of EULA/Privacy updates in the last week on older online game software.
Hmmm, NCSOFT stock got hammered today by 8%. I guess investors none to happy about F2P/P4F/Shareware version of the core game of a significant IP and income source.

I was being rhetorical Kitty.
As for bag slots remember F2P/P4F/Shareware accounts only get 3 bag slots each on their two character slots. And since they can’t buy gems with gold … win/win?
RIP City of Heroes
why only ONE bag slot???
Why only one Shadow or Flame dye?
RIP City of Heroes
And of course the Account Jump Start is now discounted due to the bag slot sale as well. 1889 instead of 2000 gems.
Shame it did not happen during the key sale too, lol, but I did buy tbe jump start during the key sale.
What do you mean? It and the Account Bump were discounted when keys went on sale.
Oh, you wanted both … greedy much?
And now I fear we won’t be seeing bank slots because the bag slots are on sale.

Here’s a recent quote by Colin:
After the announcement of HoT, many players were concerned that the old game content would be left in the dust. Unfortunately, that is partially true. But Johanson wanted to reassure players that even though there is a lot of focus on the new HoTness, events like Halloween will still continue and patches will still come to the old game. Johanson believes that there will be plenty to do in the old game for free players.
