Gw2 raids are really the big group events in some of the areas, I wouldn’t mind seeing more of them implemented as I like the idea of open world style raids. As for wow style raids, no don’t really want Anet wasting time on that when they can improve on what is already there. I left wow after burning out on there type of content and actually prefer that gw2 is more accessible.
Yeh it can get abit frustrating trying to move across the Orr zones, lost count how many times I’ve died because of super quick respawns.
I’ve finally come to the conclusion that a big portion of the forum community are skritts, “give me shinnies”, games been out five weeks and its doing fine, yeh there’s bugs but I’m yet to play a new released mmo without any. I doubt there will ever be another wow phenomenom but gw2 will sit comfortably for many years just as gw1 has done.

Disagree gw1 had too many skills, that was one of its big selling points really and I know I’m not the only one that thinks that as it has been mentioned a lot in other threads.I do agree that balancing more skills would be harder but it would still only really be an expansion on what is already being done with the 7-9 skills really.

Think it would be nice in the future if there was an option to change order, maybe a short story line where you help the order of choice and following that you have the option to leave your current order and join the new one. Then the armour of the new order you choose would become available.
After spending the last month reading a lot of the threads on theses forums, 1 area that has come up a few times especially from GW1 fans is the lack of skill options between the 1-5 weapon keys. I must say I like the idea that there are certain skills and often a certain style of skill linked to weapons and what we choose to equip but do agree it doesnt give the same sort of variety that skill selections had in GW1.
Maybe a good fix to this is to extend the amount of skills each weapon has and make them selectable aswell, for eg give the greatsword a choice of 10 or so skills and allow the player to choose 5 of those skills, for a scepter do the same but allow us to pick 3 skills, same with focus and allow us to pick 2 from the selection and so on.
This idea would allow more choice in those first 5 skill keys and give more of the gw1 type feel of greater choice to players and allow wider option for build creation.

Do think there should be more heavy armor legs without the skirt type set up,think that’s is the worst armor class for this issue.

I’m on Gandara and there’s always people around,I was playing this morning fighting jormags claw or whatever it’s called and the zone was buzzing, so I haven’t really seen abig issue with population on that server to be honest and I probably play a good 5-6 hrs aday.
“I don’t play X any more” does not mean death. It means you choose to spend your money elsewhere. How many MMOs have actually shut down all their servers and closed up within six months of release? A year?
APB is the only one I know of (All Points Bulletin)… A GTA style MMO. Shut down within 3 months lol
Faxion online only managed 3 months before shutting its doors aswell, loved that game, still miss it.
As long as the game doesn’t turn into another gear grind mmo and raid gear isn’t any better than the things that can be obtained from all other activities it wouldn’t really bother me but I don’t really think it’s needed prefer the world event style where all can join like ANet are already doing. Plenty of other raid centric mmos out there,it’s nice to have a game that caters for a different type of player to be honest.
I went warrior and then at lvl 42 switched to guardian and am actually on the verge of deleting my warrior as I found all the skills to be very dull. Now have a lvl 80 Guardian and that will stay my main now.
The best (this is a tough one because i love so much about this game) i think is how beautiful and varied the world is,have really enjoyed just walking around seeing the sights.
The worst,I agree with Godslayer after finishing the entire story the reward for that should have really been that first useful and unique 80 exotic to start your character of for the next step rather than some useless trash,it adds up to abit of a anti climax to something you have done throughout the whole lvling process.
I’m still only about 60% through the map so still got things to do,still want more dyes and crafting materials so still getting those, wvwvw and not even started spvp yet so they keep me enjoying my 80 plus I’m now also levelling another 3 characters from different races so I can see some more of the lower lvl stories and try some different classes.Still got the priory story to see yet.
I suppose they could just reset the story so you have to work through the new race story from the beginning but to be honest the game has only been out a short while so its probably just as easy to reroll the race you want this early into the release.
Mmo forums are generally negative places as the people that often use them want to complain about things they don’t like, the majority of players don’t even visit the forums and are just enjoying the game. I only visit the forums because I like to be apart of the community but the true lasting community in this game won’t really be evident for a few months yet because some people will move on with the next big thing or just quit playing which happens with any new mmo.
Yep,lvl 80 guardian, lvl 42 warrior and I’ve just started a thief. Having a great time and finally just getting into wvwvw aswell,up till now been just enjoying the pve.
This argument comes up in every mmo out there, why these companies don’t just add a few English servers is beyond me, there’s German,French,Spanish but not English which is one of the most spoken languages in the world. As it stands the rule is EU which means any language is allowed, There are some servers that have been chosen as unofficial English servers eg desolation and gandara, must say I’ve hardly seen any other language used on Gandara.
Cheers both for letting me know that, lvl 80 for a while now but there is so much still to do haven’t even looked at the forge yet lol
I think it is quite strange that once you hit 80 you continue gaining skill points from the xp bar, maybe Anet are already planning this in the future?
+1 added

Yep,was discussing this in chat last night.A very much needed feature, I like to see what an item will look like before I buy it so hopefully this will happen at some point.
Lvl 80 guardian, lvl 42 warrior and a bunch of below 20 alts. 9.9/10 without a shadow of a doubt, best mmo in years.Dropped the 0.1 because after a great personal story the final reward was abit poor.
no not expecting anything new,the game has only been out for 3 weeks.People saying wow is more polished, how many years has it taken, the game was a mess when it first released.New mmos take time to grow and are always improving and i would gladly pay a sub for this game.I was truely a big wow fan for many years but im not even bothering with the new expansion, pandas and the whole east theme just doesnt appeal and ive had my fill of raiding and wow has nothing else about it other than that.
Mmo endgame is grind in every mmo I’ve played,it may be suger coated in various ways but it’s always about a time sink.As for no reward, I actually find various different armour skins a reward worth working towards.Certainly don’t want the my loots more powerful than your loot raid style grind, that just alienates a large portion of the community. I’m personally loving what’s there and not at all bored, there is always room for improvement I agree but for a game that has just released there is tons of things to do.
I do think that some people bought this game thinking it was going to be something it’s not and unfortunately that is always going to happen with any new mmo release. In that case maybe another mmo is more suited to there taste, that is life you can’t please everyone.
Do think this is a good point, a main hand with the off hand should equal around the same cost as 1 two hander, so 1 hand weapons either need the cost reducing or two handers need increasing to even it out.
Think it’s abit early to judge the gw2 community yet, give it a couple of months for the haters to leave and then see what the forums are like then, every mmo has this sort of initial crowd, they quite quickly leave or move on to moan about the next new thing.
People are just pathetic, they level up to 80 in a week and then whine on what to do next? Seriously? Maybe you could get a job or go to school so you wont level up so quickly.
Im lvl 45 after a month of play, Clocked in around 150 hours and only been on 5-6 maps/areas in the game. I play to enjoy myself, not to get to the endgame.
I can’t wait for these folks to leave! They will move on to the next MMO rinse and repeat the same scenario!
This will leave many of us to finally enjoy the game for what it’s worth to us.
Completely agree, the only slight worry is because this game has no sub these complainers may hang around a little longer than they normally would with the usual sub based mmo.
Think this would be a good moneymaker for the gem store, definitely a market for it.Would also like to see a name change function, though I like my warriors name I do now wish I’d given him a last name aswell.
Lvl 80 and lvl 41 but I’ve had a week off work and too much time on my hands
Amen, thank you. Agree this is the mmo I’ve been looking for since I burnt out on the old formula, keep up the good work and don’t change for the whinners, carry on giving the majority the game we expected and wanted.
Your talking about pandas, seriously PANDAS Anet needs to do nothing,I’m not 5 or from the east, stupid black and white bears do not change anything for me,I’m an ex fan and this expansion is the first I won’t be buying
They need some seriously epic endgame content, and they need it fast. And not another stupid quick dungeon. They need something challenging that will take time to complete because its difficult, not because its grindy.
No they don’t really, the game finally sticks 2 fingers up at the old wow progression crowd and I thank Anet for that, keep up the good work and thank you for not sticking to the same old formula that every mmo for the past few yrs has boringly continued with. Plenty of mmos for those players not enough for the type of player that wants gw2.

After 200hrs spend in game so far I still have so much to do with the current content yet I hope it’s a while yet before any content patches happen, would rather anet concentrate on fixes and stability first.
Lvl80 female human guardian,42 male warrior( the warrior started as my main but just found the class abit dull and female humans just look better in heavy armour), also got a female sylvari Mesmer and female asura thief, just feel the female models are just better looking in this game.
Played wow for over 4 yrs and this game is so much better so I think I will be playing for a few yrs yet.
Around 200hrs so far and not even 80 yet and only 50% of the map opened. So far loved every min of it,fantastic game.
Since Faxion online shut down i struggled to find another mmo i wanted to play tried swtor but that was a dissapointment, then Tera but couldnt even bring myself to get to lvl cap with that and finally TSW which after a very short while i was bored.Still playing Firefall and now GW2 which i definatley see myself playing for a long time.
Actually the fact this game hasn’t got the constant gear grind is the thing I like, for me there is loads to do once hitting 80 and I’m actually looking forward to going back to lower level zones at 80 because of the scaleing and spending time wvwvw, spvp, getting all crafting skills especially cooking and also playing many other alts, trying to get all dyes, gear sets the list just goes on and that is before more content is added. The fact arena net has scrapped the old style progression grind is what actually makes me not want to leave.
I switch between scepter/torch for damage and then when things get tough or I pull a few to many mobs I switch to mace/focus. Mace is definitely a good choice and with focus really helps when the going gets tough.
I felt exactly the same with the warrior, got to lvl 41 and ended up rerolling a guardian and haven’t looked back since, finding it far more fun than warrior and I actually feel useful when grouped aswell knowing I can support and heal even when not really trying to play that way.
