The actual truth about the new gear

It’s still a sign of the beginning of bigger future gear changes, to think this is the only time this will happen now is foolish.Anet have set a new precedence now, this is just the beginning.

Problem there is I don’t like doing dungeons so now because of that I’m at a disadvantage whereas before I could chose how I got my exotics, that choice is now gone and impacts wvwvw because of this.I have no problem with dungeons,I don’t play that side so don’t care what they do with them,I do care about another tier of gear though that forces grind that gives people an advantage against people that really couldn’t care less about dungeons.

I’ve not played a lot over the past month but did keep GW2 on my pc, seeing the new changes I’m now going to delete it and move on. Ps2 is one game I’m defiantly gonna play and darkfall unholy wars will be another if they don’t keep putting back the release date.
Really not happy with Anet and there new direction so looks like GW2 will join the list of shelved mmos

Gear grinds started already, was hoping anet would stick to there guns about gear progression.Guess this game will just end up another wow or rift before long.Time to move on.

You would think that considering ANet have casualised and trivialised nearly every element of the game that they would have put a looking for group feature in really. This game is built on ease and this feature won’t do any damage as most people don’t communicate with each other anyway as most the time you don’t need to.

Must say I feel the same, don’t want any gear treadmill but other than the legendary weapon which doesn’t really appeal I can’t find anything to motivate me any further, there’s not even faction grinds or anything like that and money is just such a pain to get that I just can’t be bothered. O well, was fun for a month or so,definitely got my monies worth and with no sub at least I can keep popping in for a peek every now and then.Until then I’m having a great time in allods online and darkfall comes in about a month.

What made me stop playing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bhuta.1480

So basically op what your saying is you stopped playing because this game is not wow, wow might be very successful but if gw2 was the same as wow then there wouldn’t be much point in it because instead we could all just play wow. Now I agree with some of your points and that’s why I’m not playing much but the last thing the game needs is to be wow,the game fits many people’s idea of what they want to play and that’s good there are already enough wow clones out there as it is ,for those that want wow ,go play wow.

Just under 5g at 80, getting cash in this game is easily the worst I’ve known in any mmo I’ve played, can’t even grind properly for it the drops are so bad.Its the main thing that’s putting me off this game of late to be honest.

MMO's need a grind but not for fluff

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bhuta.1480

Must be honest I’m missing the grind, but also if I try and grind which I oddly do enjoy sometimes the drop rate of simple items is so poor that cash flow is stupidly slow which means once the world completion is done the cash flow drys up. I don’t care about fancy stats or gear grinds, glad to not see that but I do enjoy rep grinding, etc.
Due to that I’ve moved back to allods online for abit, but GW2 will still be there when I feel like jumping back in, but at the min GW2 just isn’t a long term option for me.

Took me just over 220hrs to get full world completion,I basically just worked my way through a zone at a time, didn’t rush it and that also included some wvwvw till I could get all those zones.

Should I feel bad about spending real mony on gems

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bhuta.1480

No you shouldn’t feel bad for using a legitimate feature of the game, if it was buying from gold sellers then that is a different issue as botting and gold sellers destroy the game and should mean a instant ban but using ANets own feature does not have the same harmful effect on the game.

After playing wow for many yrs,I finally tired of it and searched for about 18 months for another mmo, found Faxion online which I totally loved and would still be playing if it hadn’t shut down.Since then I’ve tried swtor, tera,dc,TSW and they all disappointed.Next up was GW2 which I must say has not disappointed as much as the list above. Still not as much fun as Faxion was but if ANet sort the bots out and depending how darkfall turns out i plan on playing for a good while.

Definitely have to say that this game has paid for itself twice over with the hrs I’ve now played although I am thinking of leaving for awhile until ANet get there act together on the botting issue,it’s just getting worse and really starting to spoil the game and the game economy. But I have definitely got my moneys worth.

Must say after playing smaller scale mmos for the past couple of yrs I generally find the lack of communication abit disappointing to be honest, I’ve got used to playing games where you not only see a lot of the devs on the forums but also in game. Guess that’s the benefits of a smaller budget mmo to the bigger boys.

I had the same dilemma with my human warrior, got to level 45 and realised that I found it dull and boring so made the decision to role another human guardian and I’m glad I did even though I didn’t want 2 humans, means I’m a few weeks behind where I would have been but no point playing something you don’t like. The game is still new and there is years of playing ahead so reroll now rather than regretting it in say 6 months time.

Why is there not a PvP Server?

Bhuta.1480

@Pennry, I agree it is still unbalanced but nowhere near as unbalanced as most open world pvp games.

It’s a nice idea op and I would defiantly transfer to a pvp server but like many have said it would probably need to many game changes for it to ever happen, so I will keep holding out for another good open world pvp mmo to come out while GW2 stays as my casual love everyone mmo

Why is there not a PvP Server?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bhuta.1480

Real PvP is when both know what is about to go down.

If i fight someone irl i dont charge someone from behind with full force, i’m not a bi*ch and i’m not weak.

Be a man you girls, the only real PvP is when both knows what is about to happen.
:)

I get bored very quickly with structured pvp, the thing I like about open world is going about my business not knowing if I’m going to get jumped at some point. It adds that extra bit of excitement. For me it’s not actually about killing other players but instead about other players not killing me.

Must admit I would love to see a proper open world pvp server. With the down scaling of zones would make for a great pvp environment. Though must admit I personally prefer some sort of faction divide rather than the total free for all type pvp. Unfortunately I don’t think gw2 is that game, shame as I’m desperately trying to find a replacement for Faxion online, darkfall unholy wars releases next month though so hopefully that will give me my open world pvp fix that I’m missing.

Agree with some of your comments especially the invisible people in wvw that is a very dumb feature, most of the pve complaints though I disagree with as all the points you seem to hate are actually the things I like, but each to there own + thanks to some of the disasters that SOE have had mean I will never play one of there games again so planet side 2 is a no go for me.

The real problem: The combat just lacks depth

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bhuta.1480

Bhuta.1480

I prefer the less buttons 1-10 instead of wows loads of skills but I must agree that having 5 set skills with weapons doesn’t leave much depth, what I would like to see is more skill options per weapon so with say Greatsword you can pick from maybe 10 skills for the first 5 keys, this would at least give a few more options than just which weapon you use.

No endgame. Game is dead. It was fun while it lasted. Maybe elder scrolls online will dethrone wow. WoW is king sitting atop his mighty throne whilst the jackals beg for scraps. This game was promising. It had potential but a game is judged by its results and not its potential.

MoP is a blast and monks are fun to leve.

With no sub this game may go through low spells but any addition to content will always bring an influx of old players back as there is no sub and it’s not a typical FTP, so if ANet stay on the ball this game hasn’t really got any competition.plus fix a few issues and to be honest it’s the best mmo out there,no pandas for starters.

Must admit that the actual nerf hasn’t infuriated me, I played a ret pala for 7 yrs in wow so I’m used to getting buffed then shafted over and over again. But the skill swaps in GS now that has annoyed me.

Greatsword Change [merged]

in Guardian

Posted by: Bhuta.1480

Bhuta.1480

This change is relatively early in the games life, though I’m not happy with it as 250 hrs of memory, muscle memory has now got to be relearned, why kitten off player base with no good reason was a stupid decision. But again it’s still early in the game, but for the people saying its no big deal,it will be interesting in say 6 months when this happens to warriors for example, after maybe a thousand hrs it’s really gonna upset some people. Better to nip it in the bud now and let ANet know it’s an unwanted change before it becomes the norm every time a skill cooldown is changed.
Personally I think ANet should just put the skill position back where it was and give up on doing this again.

guys just go into options – control options – change weapon skill 2 , 3 and 4 to 3 , 4 and 2 and problem solved , yes u will still have the skills laid out the same but your finger will now press the right skills they are used to.

And this then messes up your other weapon so is not an option, like many here I don’t actually care about the nerf but with over 250hrs on my guardian it’s gonna take some time to get used to what is a totally pointless switch round, it’s already cost me at least 5 or 6 deaths in wvwvw due to hitting the wrong button.

Greatsword Change [merged]

in Guardian

Bhuta.1480

Think the most annoying thing about this is if it’s happened once is it going to happen every time ANet change a skill cooldown. So in another few months when some cooldown is possibly changed will this happen again, this goes for other classes aswell if there are changes. Pain having to keep getting used to a new key settup.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I personally love the way this game works, I love mmos because I like that feeling of aliveness that you only get with other real people playing but I also work in a job that means I have to deal with people all day long so when I’m not working I would say I’m pretty anti social, when you spend so much time seeing people the way I do you realise a lot of them really aren’t very nice so why spend to much time making idle chat. Gw2 allows me to chat when I want but still get things done when I don’t. The only area of the game I’ve barely touched is the dungeons and that because of being forced to group,so I may do them at some point. Only finished the last one because it’s the only way to finish the story.
