Go to Commodore Quarter Waypoint. Head east past the vendors and he is in the corner. Get a gun from him and then shoot the karka scattered and hidden around the map to start the collection. There are 50 of them in LA.

People reported better FPS and smoothness/optimization in the beta. How true that technically is, I don’t know. I imagine there are going to be crazy fights like Mordremoth where a lot of people will lag at first until Anet can get a better idea of the changes they need to make for an optimal fight.
Its definitely something I think Anet is working on but aren’t really talking about. I’m sure they are trying to fix lag at big world boss fights, and in both PvP and WvW.
Anet in the past has said this isn’t possible. Due to technical reasons and issues with how your story lines up, it wasn’t possible. Could things have changed in the past year or two since they said that? Maybe, but not likely.
I agree with the others. Let’s upgrade the mail system instead of crippling those who do a lot of fund transfers. People shouldn’t have consequences for other’s actions. I’m part of a large guild that deals with over 1,000-2,000g per week from all the members and gold is flying all over the place in an organized chaotic way. This new system would cripple how our guild operates and would require extra people to transfer funds which is a big problem for people with trust issues already.
Stress Test = story? how disappointing....

I didn’t even get to play so you should be happy you at least got the chance to test it.
Hammer, axe, and mace already confirmed but I don’t feel like I’ll be a heavy without a greatsword and obviously a staff would be awesome. I’m not into daggers or swords but anything else is fine.

So how it was during the EOTM beta was pretty awesome. You went into an area that would give you instant level 80 and you could pick your gear, weapons, etc. They gave us I think like 400g but that was overkill since everything was either free or very cheap from the vendors. They wanted us spending time testing the map, not leveling or worrying about finances which was nice because I got to do just that. Once you had your build and gear ready, you just went into an Asura gate and you were in EOTM. It would reset every now and then but it wasn’t bad at all.
My best guess is that the HoT beta will be very similar. They want you testing the Revenant, looking around at any new UI, testing some features, stress testing some, and just having fun while they collect as much information as they can from a somewhat small sample size.
Also no, you didn’t get to keep anything from the test phase over to your main account.
All signs are pointing to this year. Signs ranging from Anet starting beta signups, to data mined information, and the amount of HoT related information Anet has given us. They don’t spread info until stuff is close to being done.
My best guess for the release is sometime in Q3 of 2015. Finish the beta which will probably last a week or two, have another one and then release a month later.
It all sounds great to me. Revenant (because I prefer heavy armor professions), guild halls, and specializations are all my favorites. The mastery system and new events in Maguuma sound nice but they aren’t my most anticipated new features.
My plan is pretty simple and obvious. I made sure to get enough tomes and scrolls to unlock every skill and get to level 80 for my Revenant on day one. I also have a bit of gold on the side to purchase all the traits I might be too lazy to get. I then jumped back into PvP to get some transmutation charges, went through my dyes and looked for ones I still need, and then went back to casually playing while I refreshed reddit waiting for some new information. My guild has about 10,000g, 6 million influence, and 250 merits to spend on upgrades for the guild hall so I’m not worried about that. I’m just ready to start counting down the days at this point.
There are rich players who will have new legenedaries on day one for their level 80 Revenant who is fully geared. They will deck out their guild hall and start zerging through Maguuma and ultimately miss all the fun stuff. I imagine to feel a sense of completing the expansion it will take less than a week for those kinds of players.
I think Anet plans on this lasting for at least a month or two of new experiences for the majority of players. I’m sure they are already thinking about the next steps and ready to crank out more updates as soon as the expansion is released.
While it added flavor, it didn’t solve anything, and only made things more annoying. I’m on a T1 server so scouts aren’t hard to come by but I feel bad they don’t get rewarded for it. The commanders usually pay them or the scouts volunteer because they are eating or something lol.
Wait a second. The/A Producer for Anet hadn’t played WvW prior to that? Yikes…
There are many producers here! I am quite new to the company, and I do not produce for a team that is related to WvW in almost any way; trust me, if I were I would have played WvW prior to my starting here
Okay thanks for clarifying. Hope you’re enjoying the newish job
Wait a second. The/A Producer for Anet hadn’t played WvW prior to that? Yikes…
I do remember the devs talking a month or so back about how they tried numerous ways to change how stacking conditions worked. They found that removing the hard stack count of 25 would always crash their servers. I’m not sure if they are still testing possible ideas but I would like to guess and hope so.
I’m on JQ and have had my fair share of stomping and getting stomped. I don’t like constantly winning or losing because neither of those are fun in any way. Back when BG was climbing the ranks and we started getting matched with them and SoR, it was great WvW. These days, its apparent BG is top, JQ is second, and TC is third. Each server can go full try hard and win a certain week but generally its BG, JQ, then TC. Any of us moving to T2 is a complete stomp and maps turn into EOTM style karma trains where we just go in circles around the maps capping objectives. There are also times where for whatever reason we can’t get anybody to play and BG will have a full blob and we are stuck with 20-30 people on map and only 10 on the commander. Its very hard to try and get into the game when you know you’re about to get whooped.
I only have a few ideas on how to fix the population issues but no matter what game you play or develop, the hardest thing to fix and/or adjust is balance.
Link to the wiki :
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_Experience#WXP_upgradesI suggest you to start with “Defense against guards” and “Guard killer” since they give +250 vitality and + 250 Power/condition, they both very usefull in every aspect of WvW.
Anet resets the points spent only at the beginning of a league/tournament.
After you get those two guard lines, look into Siege Bunker and Siege Might for siege damage output increase and reduction damage input. After that you are much more free to what you upgrade. When I was lower in points, I would make it so I could spend more supply with Build Mastery and Repair Mastery and then flame rams and arrow carts. Don’t upgrade things you don’t use. If you’re never in a golem, don’t upgrade that line until the end. The very last line you should upgrade is supply capacity. Its a LOT of points for only 5 more supply.
They really need another EB style map. Its clearly the favorite, its balanced, and its not completely linear.
JQ WvW has just been dull for the past 3-4 weeks if not more. We struggle to find commanders and when somebody does take over, it becomes a popularity contest and if you aren’t one of the main 4-5 commanders, nobody follows you. This means instead of a decent zerg on every map, we have 1 big blob that takes care of all of them. This entire week its been 0 queue (often outmanned) on all but one of the maps in which it will have 50+.
My point is that its not EOTM causing this, its simply a server issue when it comes to our particular WvW players. The higher player count of people in EOTM is because its the best way right now to level without going through the (painful) process of map exploration. Not only is the leveling the best, its also a decent way to mindlessly make gold by ranking up so quickly with WXP compared to regular WvW. That just means a lot of the champion train farmers and such are in EOTM and whether you decide if that’s killing WvW or not is up to you but I don’t think EOTM is the reason to blame here. The lack of WvW changes or additions and personal server problems are.
Exhaustion just sounds like it would take a troll longer to troll and doesn’t actually solve the problem.
If having a GM go around in WvW all the time is hard, get somebody like me who will work practically for free to address these problems on the spot. Make it simple. First offense is a warning (GM’s text could be a different color as well as an Anet guild tag to show they are legit). Second is a ban from WvW for 24 hours. Third strike is a week long ban from WvW. You need to show trolls that their activity is unwanted instead of just giving them a slap on the wrist or slowing them down with “exhaustion”. Be precise and firm with your actions and if there is a problem, and the troll tries to appeal a ban, let support direct the ticket to the GM who warned/banned the player.
I’m very serious in ‘hiring’ me. I’ll make sure things stay clean and swift action is taken to cure the community of trolls. I’m unemployeed and would be more than willing to work something out with you guys.
This is exactly why we need Anet talking with us. These decisions are so bad its actually funny. We had a CDI a few months ago to figure this kind of thing out. Colored pins weren’t the problem. The problem was people wanting to run with guilds or pinless not having a way to follow others.
Then when you look at something like PvE, its purely a status symbol already. The colors will just make it worse. Yellow outfit, might as well wear a yellow commander pin to match that.
Hopefully this reaction by the community let’s you have plenty of time to reconsider, and change things before the patch hits.
Its just a fluff patch while they work on making sure the Mordremoth fight is as perfect as possible. What I’m hoping for is that we don’t get to something like “Part 10: Mordremoth is still in the bathroom, but he’s almost done!”. With games like Archeage coming out soon, I’m hoping Anet can have a good answer to some quality content ASAP. Dry Top and the Feature Pack back in April have both been pretty good so let’s keep going on.
Thank you so much. I knew I was jumping the wrong way but couldn’t figure out the direction at the top.
Most of my characters are dark themed so it was kind of hard. Instead of being purely dark (abyss and scarlet dyes mostly) I added some silver (celestial was too bright). I then picked up the sword for both my Guardian (use sword in pvp) and Warrior. Its really big but I’m getting used to it. Even though there are a lot of good sword skins already, I wasn’t a big fan of many other skins. I also got the dagger, how could I not? Its great and has a decent size.
Other skins I was considering, the axe, hammer, and possibly warhorn. I already have skins I want for everything else except a dark staff. I’m waiting either on a new legendary staff or an Assassin weapon box to change the current skin on my Guardian.
Good discussion here guys. We’ve got our own list of potential future tricks and traps, and while I can’t go into detail on what’s in the works, I can give you guys insight into some of the guidelines we try and follow when creating these.
Specifically there are a few WvW traps abilities that we try to avoid:
- Traps that can instantly kill players. We don’t want you to be able to passively wipe a group by stacking three invisible explosive traps on top of each-other. That said, we are more open to these types of traps as long as there is some counterplay available (like the trap has a visible land mine effect, or gives the group warning to dodge away quickly before it explodes.)
- Traps that summon additional combatants (guards, creatures, golems, etc.) This is more for server performance concerns (skill lag.) While we have exception to this in WvW already, the idea is to avoid making the problem worse.
- Traps that are functionally extremely similar to an existing profession skill. Ranger Spike Trap, Thief Needle Trap, etc. Similarly we probably wouldn’t do a trap that just applies a standard condition to an area (Cripple, Poison, Burning, etc.)
Please, please, please no to the first one. It will be highly abused and destroy open-field combat.
Two. I could see this working but the roamers won’t be happy. You could lay one down and easily bait a person back to the trap if you get low. It would really hurt the roamers that we have left.
Three. This is the best one here as long as they all deal about the same damage with varying conditions/boons.
Aren’t DB and FA about to switch though? A recent JQ guild just left for FA and I heard about Agg possibly leaving for FA as well. That should definitely push them up a tier and drop DB.
I just got some today at random times. I even just left OS and nobody was there but me but there was still some lag in casting.
That it was all free and that if for some reason I couldn’t play and obtain one of the items, I didn’t feel left out or behind. You know what I mean? I could skip and entire living story that was mainly meant to be fun and not all rewarding so missing out wasn’t that big of a deal given there were some GREAT farms along the way.
I already talked to a few employees about doing some kind of free work for them such as combating the gold sellers, testing upcoming builds, and so forth but I was turned down. They want people to work for them on-site no matter what you want to help them with. I figured working for free would be a big gain for them but its a little more complicated than I expected.
There just need to be more skins in general. There aren’t many good shields either other than the Flameseeker Prophecies. It would be nice if we get a lot more with living story season two this year but it seems every good skin is just thrown into the gem store instead.
Now your guess is as good as mine but here’s what I’ve got:
Notice how each bag that may contain them is/was located in an area of ruin? What appears to make them unidentifiable is the fact that they have been submerged in water, stepped on, burnt, etc. They are so destroyed that they it can no longer be told what they said or where.
1. My friends and guilds
2. The time I’ve invested
3. No subscription and easy to pick back up at any time
I don’t look for them, I just wait until somebody else in my guild can find a good one and then I get a ferry into their map. Its just such a pain to try and rally a whole map that I’ve given up on it.
The two things about this tournament that killed it for me. 1. Week in and week out 2v1. Whether you’re stomping or getting stomped, its no fun. 2. 9 weeks long? That was brutal.
Rewards and achievements were much better this time around but there is still plenty of work to be done. I still don’t get why so many of the achievement rewards were around ascended mats when we already have stacks upon stacks of them.
Make sure you check out the CDI topics. All this was mentioned there at some point: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Collaborative-Development-Commander-System/page/14#post3343318
All I really see this doing is causing a bunch of server hopping. Right now we are pretty stable. T1 servers are blobbing, T2 are GvG type guilds, T3 is relaxed but still dedicated and everything else is just really casual.
The thing we really need is a fix to coverage or scoring which I heard is being looked into.
This WvW “tournament” has drained everyone. 9 weeks of nothing but 2v1’s. You are stuck either farming a server that doesn’t show up or you’re that server. I’m against seasons, tournaments, or whatever you want to call them until it becomes more about skill than coverage.
I don’t think WvW is dying though. In T1, its very much alive but we have a lot of commanders that have put in overtime just to make sure we have commanders for most hours during the week.
A part of the lore, she is one of the people in charge of rebuilding Lion’s Arch…if not the sole person in charge. The letter is her and Anet’s way of letting us know that the rebuilding process has begun and we won’t just see Lion’s Arch come up instantly one day.
Its pretty cool if you walk around the map, you can see workers actually hammering on the bridges and stuff.
Why not hate on the zerg? The way the Pavilion is this time around is to discourage zerging because the boss’s HP will scale just like that of a Champion. However, unlike a Champion, there is no cutoff point for the scaling and it just goes up, up, up. Even if the scaling is linear with the amount of HP added per player, 50 people at one boss are far less likely to use skills than that of only 10 people. It happens to champions all the time.
The biggest problem here isn’t zerging, its the fact that the rewards are pretty crummy and then you have to pay gold to get it going again. Everyone was expecting and hoping for a great farm today just like the last time the Pavilion was around. Its really upsetting that it was changed and these forums are a clear indicator of that right now.
Why wouldn’t they just make it like last time? We LOVED that. If this is the kind of “hard” content we can start expecting in PvE from Anet, I’ll just stick to maxing out my magic find and playing WvW only…that’s all I do now anyways.
Just curious because I never get to face them, who do you guys think the best guilds on JQ are (given the numbers are the same).
Ge is probably our best. Who else?
The developers are heads-down working on the future content releases. We are also in the middle of launching the game in China. Launching a game in a new country is kind of a big deal. Because of the team’s focus on game development, they are not able to dedicate as much time out of their workday to posting on the forums. While they might have time to read the forums, they don’t necessarily have time to engage in discussion.
I know it’s hard to be patient in this down time between Living World seasons, but please bear with us. As much as you’re craving new content to play, the team is dying for you to play it.
Unfortunately, I can’t give you any information about future content, whether it’s plot spoilers or timeline. I can say that, as a player, I am very excited about the next season, and I cannot wait to see what you all think about it.
Please know that your feedback continues to be important, our devs are still reading (though they may not have time to respond), and we sincerely appreciate your support and you sharing all your thoughts with us (critical or otherwise).
Thanks for at least replying, Regina. I’ve got a 500 person guild that is slowly losing numbers day in and day out because of the China release and lack of GW2 content. Thankfully, GW2 isn’t subscription base so I know they’ll be back at some point…I sure would like to have my friends playing again ASAP though
As long as the badges match other aspects of the game I’m on board for sure. Meaning, if I can play WvW for say 1 hour and buy a Tome of Knowledge, I expect to be able to get the same thing if I play PvE or PvP matches.
There are two things. Coverage is great because you can pick up the slack during other server’s off hours. Community is great because you can make the most of your time during the hours you’re online and the zergs are generally stronger (so you win more fights).
That obviously means you need both coverage and a strong community to be the most perfect server.
Do they have all the servers for China in place though? I imagine there will be new ones because an 800 person queue would take hours and on reset nights, you wouldn’t get in at all. On JQ for reset night, the queue for something like EB might be something like 50 but the time to get in takes two hours. Can you imagine 800+ queue?
Did anyone notice that the forum regarding the “Battle of Lion’s Arch – Aftermath” has disappeared? Hopefully it means something…
I want to say so badly it means new content soon but its probably just because that forum was getting rather pointless because that living story was finished over a month ago.
The list could go on and on for the community as it shows in previous posts.
For me, I need to see: End-game PvE content that isn’t gone in 2 weeks. Competitive PvP. A guild update that includes a revamp of upgrades and the UI, autonomous building schedules, more use for merits, more guild missions, GvG, and guild housing. The commander icon/pin/tag system reworked to make them easier to see in combat and one that is seen only by guild members. More zones/maps. More world bosses that are on the difficulty level of Karka Queen or Tequatl with rewards to match the difficulty. Instanced dungeon-like PvE content that can hold 15-20 members. More legendary weapon options (seriously, no more rainbows). Legendary armor. New models of weapons and armor. New weapons, races, and professions. I’ll just stop here…. my list could go on and on.
One of the biggest things Anet needs to look into is rewards. People will always flock to the boss, mode, train, or whatever to get the best rewards possible with the least amount of effort. If Anet can make it so we get more scaled rewards then it’ll keep so many zones from being empty and the community more spread out (instead of 50 people running a Queensdale champion train).
Just to mess with you. Kind of like when you get 1 copper from a chest or bag.
I don’t know really. I assume its something that just got overlooked in the April 15th Feature Patch. Removing them or making them account bound would be nice….or even giving us a full set if they stay soulbound.
Necro —> Engi-—> Thief —- > Mesmer. (Warrior/Ranger)
Mesmer, though extremely effective, I’m putting in 4th because it’s a very narrow build set.
I’ve have to go with this list as well. Necro and Engi are way up there though. Each profession has their own builds you can use for conditions but Necro and Engi can just pour them on and its not just limited to one or two different types. I do think that confusion and torment are neat mechanics and I’m hoping they get used more in the future than just primarily with Mesmers.
