I am really really happy about longbow changes, but I still doubt if longbow is viable aside from full zerker.

Why would ATM play defensively when there is no link between JQ SEA and NA prime, as soon as ATM log off, JQ just got outmanned in every BL besides EB, all of them gonna get flipped in 30 mins anyways, and rampaging around all BLs are way more fun than holding some keeps with 40+ players.
JQ is going through a time that lost FOO and EMP major force the same time in a sudden, and doing a kitten good job re-forming, its a time for JQ players re-gain the joy of WvW; not a time for every guilds extending their playing time and burning out for a win.
SoR dont blame others for ticking 15, SoR has sea represents in some degree(you are rarely outmanned in sea so stop no sea force bs) but still choose to turtle so hard and only move out backstab BG or JQ when they are fighting each other and still QQ like your sea is non-existent , even BG JQ sea group hate each other so hard, but when they are constantly gotten tower even garrison stolen nobody gonna be happy about that, so if you really want avoid 2v1ed during sea time zone, just turtle dont move out, hand the oceanic fight to BG and JQ.
BTW TFV gonna fit SoR really well since DB oceanic plays same style as SoR

Well, after 2 hours in Spvp, I gotta say my sub-par ranger BM build dont really get hit hard, although my bird F2 is no longer that hard hitting, but slash actually get buffed lol, the only changes I made is I replaced my pet move 30% faster with grants might on crit, and forced to replace muddy terran with signet of hunt and change 2 Lacerating Slash into chill slash and blind slash. I run 0/20/30/0/20. Shortbow down to 900 range is acceptable in Spvp since most fight you encountered are within 900 range anyways.
But the point is since other under powered classes get buffed a lot besides warriors(I still think warriors get an slightly overall buff), these rangers changes basically makes us less demanded again.
Do you dislike the muddy terrain change? I wasn’t sure how I felt about it because it gives 2s of cripple now which is pretty cool but the cool down and timer changes made me wonder.
Muddy terrain was and is never a good skill imo due to the huge start up animation and glitchy pulses: I had times players literally walked through it without a single cripple, now since I dont have slot for 30% pet speed anymore, I kinda forced replace muddy terrain which is the worse skill in my build to a passive speed boost and a timely burst option.

Longbow is snappy. It’s very good. I’m so happy with this patch I can’t even begin to explain. Might stacking on pet is awesome. Bows are awesome.
I got a couple things I specifically asked for: combination of vigorous/spiritual knowledge into one adept trait, as well as a way to run fast. Rangers should be running fast, don’t you think? We had to use rune of speed (meh) before along with a signet just because we didn’t have a reliable way to stack swiftness. Now, with nature’s voice, rangers are arguably a must have in 5 man havoc squads, definitely a run for top tier.
Or you can just have a guardian and an ele which good havoc group gonna have anyways.
Well soon in order to match the short bow range change, they gonna reduce axe range to make it melee

Thief should be punished by missing attacks during stealth because it is way too accessible in this game.
I choose to play a ranger because I like thakittens the only class that can use longbow and shortbow and I like pets in all mmos; longbow is mediocre since beginning, and now shortbow get hit again, yeah I said again, I will never forget 40 milliseconds. Now whats the point of playing this “Unparalleled archers”
Guardian is still my preferred class to choose in anything involved more than 1 player, I like how my shout guardian works.
We still have the best water field in game yay, so now you can afk every 30 sec come back press 6 and you become worthless again.
I mean if people really enjoy roaming why not just reroll a thief…
Buff the damage on Barrage and I will be happy, seriously…
If you enjoy endless build changing and even after adapting all the changes you still gonna get out performed by other classes,then yes, ranger is the right class for you.
in Spvp idk I dont really feel BM ranger get hit that hard, but trapper is an equal option if not a better one now; in WvW I run full glass 30 30 10 so no.

But yeah…as koolmutt said…the only thing ranger and mesmer in common is they are the only 2 classes having less and less builds by the time more and more patches come out.
lol Im so glad after I made my ranger as my 1st toon, I decided to make a guardian and mesmer later, now my ranger is just for resource farming and guild missions…I really dont see the point to put my ranger into WvW instead of my guardian/mesmer… Barrage: Increased cripple duration by 50% is nice, this prob the only useful buff we got,auto attack and rapid fire still gonna be miss obstructed and out of range with no reason doesnt matter how much you improve the speed of arrow…but before they increase the damage on Barrage I dont see a point putting that on to a zerg full of retaliations…
The current zerg meta requires good aoes, boon sharing, and offense ability that can show during following commander pin and huge skill lags(aka #1 skill ftw). The only weapon that ranger suit in is great sword, longbow is kinda good compare to other ranger weapons when defending, but when it comes to stay close to pin and attack with a group constantly moving, longbow dont really do that much, shortbow with piercing arrow is better and actually works great if not count the lag factor; with the lag factor the attack rate on shortbow just terrible so it leads to super low damage output so great sword is still better choice. If power build with signet of stone/wild and protect me with bear, ranger do have good ability to stay in a zerg fight, but warrior and guardian still have better front line ability than rangers do, dont even have to mention rangers’ little to none boon share ability in a zerg fight. Compare to top4 zerg combat classes(guard war necro ele)(and mesmers as fifth which can provide mess invisibility, teleport and tricky cc skills but mesmers are not required in large numbers so I put it on fifth) ranger dont really have anything that outshine them.

Pendragon said it the best, the massive re-stealth a thief can access is crazy and so frustrating for the other side to fight against; On the other hand they simply out damage you each round they pop out and back to stealth, and eventually take you down.
lmao, every top team now still have one guardian one DD ele and one mesmer, rangers are replaceable by other classes depending on the team style, so I dont think its accurate to say rangers are god tier in Spvp, maybe in open field 1v1 BM can be top 3 spec, but aside from that, nowhere near top tier in Spvp/Tpvp.
I usually give 5-15 sliver when I get portaled up depends on my mood that day, and when I do the portal job myself I do take donations, but I dont ask for portal fee, I dont know why I dont ask for it but it is like everyone’s agreement that take donations/tips feel like the best way.
Apothecary gear regen build will not perform as good in WvW as in Spvp due to higher crit damage will out damage your regen and condition duration reduce food are real good counter to any condition build; as I understand thats a solo roaming build but a lot of good solo players in WvW use condition reduce food, you can beat bad players all day with any kind of build anyways. As I stated before It also will make you pretty useless in group fight, if you talking about general in WvW power build will be better for a ranger than condition build cuz that will make longbow aoe actually hurt, still if you insist on going trapper for choke point holding then you dont need that heal effect stats in WvW because if the zerg go through choke point you wont be holding your circle with you regen anyways not like in Spvp you can sometimes hold a 1v2 on point if you are a better player. So be careful on spending your gold on Apothecary gear in PvE/WvW
If you hate pug that much why dont you take time find a new guild or team?
Thief: because its ok if they dodge, you don’t have to manage cool downs.
Personally I liked thieves back in beta were spam meant you had no initiative. They actually needed to manage skills and their usage like other professions. I understand that hampered pve however.

Some DD/SD theif who traited a lot blind and stealth can beat phantom build after some work, 50/50 full zerker against them 20/80 in their favor if you are full solider, other than that a lot condition build beat it, like condition DD ele or a very very good necro. On point holding an engi or trap ranger can beat it too.
when we see 3 rangers 1 guardian + 1 other class in top tournaments, then we can start talking about rangers being OP like eles before.
Pets buffs are nice
Spirits buffs are lol and whatever
Sick’em cd reduce is a huge buff to BM build.
Signet CD reduce only benefits zerker rangers since no other build will actually use the active effect or even equip SoS, BM ranger use SoW as an all time regeneration as I see.
The only skill buff that actually helps most of the rangers are the LR cd reduce >.< and I still think they need to make LR can remove immobilize to can actually roll backwards during immobilize.
on 1v1, BM bunker ranger is only good against war(sry war), even against engi guard(rangers are always even or in favor against guardians imo but to kill a guardian is another thing) necro, bad but doable against thief mesmer(too much options too keep pets away while have great damage dealing to ranger) and lol against ele(lol try to kill an ele with your pet lol). (all with most popular build for their class)
On the other hand it is still not a good Spvp build cuz it is not a team fight build, trap build is still better in team fight and point holding.
I dont really care lol I quit using QZ long long time ago(forty milliseconds)
Cus if no one goes bunker, bursts will be the one build ppl going to?

There are only 2 good ranger build trap and BM which trap requires tons of skills to play cuz still you are on the side to counter other’s stuff and out-last them. BM is not even a that good of a build, it just makes you tanky which every other classes can go tanky build and be very tanky too anyways.
There are only 1 bad thief build, its glass cannon cuz its the only build that can actually make thief killable.

and god, we need to trait 30 points into power to actually make signets work on ourselves…really…

Warriors have great tools to break into enemy lines to break the balance of a mostly ranged zerg fight, a lot zerg fights start breaking the balance when few warriors charged in and start pushing; also warrior can provide great group buff with shouts.
Its funny how blackgates were talking about how beasty they were on the 1st few days in WvW, and now they just turn into QQ gate and making terrible excuses.
Anyways, Welcome to T1 SoS.
This doesnt mean a lot, most players class choice remained N/A, we need an overall class usage graphic among top ranking matches.
^ Then we will see if warrior is on the same spot as ranger.

Regarding to the rangers class… I was hit by 3k (crit) each time with your skill barrage (this hits till 12 times and also criple the foe) on WvWvW and the ranger was far away from me. A warrior to do that kind of damage needs to be close to the target. Your class can do it from a distance.
Nope, with full exotic berserker set ranger barrage hit around 1k to 1.5k each without buff, unless you get hit by weapon with sigil of fire or Air which deals 1k-1.2k damage when triggered; ranger cant do near 3k damage per hit with barrage without huge mighty buff from other class or some mighty buff and with crit food and with fire or air sigil. Since fire and air sigil is 30% on crit, there is no way you get hit by 3k per hit.

WTF are these fixes?! high risks upadtes are these?! wow really…Anet if you give up on rangers plz just speak out clear.
On the other hand making spirits buff rate from 35to50 doesnt really doesnt make a big difference, you will still get all the buffs from secs of attacking and after that a long you receive a long time without buff or very rarely get a buff, then you get 3 buffs again…so really dont change a thing.
Now I think we will see rangers in PvP only in water.
I just wish I can trade all invader stuff into new armor tier by some way, its really not easy to get all those badges again…
Since Anets Ultimate goal is to let everyone pay as much effort as legendary items to get final tier gears stats after Acended tier gears there will be another “gap closer” tier coming, why not just solve this once for all, release all legendary armors and let farmers farm their stuff; let ppl who want to spend real life money pay in TP, leave causal gamers alone since they dont contribute server active stats as farmers do or Anet finance stat as CSers do. Just let all the ppl who deserve the legendarys get theirs and stop all these slow pace torturing on players who come here because they thought there would be no vertical gear progression just like GW1?
To JQs when you are losing it might be a good idea spend more ppl on the battle ground than Jumping puzzles.
To BGs SM is not the cake, its a lie, a hot potato, maybe it will be better not wasting all your forces trying to get SM or que for EB and not left your mates on other BLs get outmanned buff. The willingness of you guys taking over SM probably is as hard as JQs want to take over jumping puzzles.
To be honest, our zerg is never that huge during nights these 2 weeks besides the WM took over night, after that night, our night crew is really not that big…sometimes we even get outmanned buff in some BL…and we like easily take over entire map with a group of only 15-20 ppl…its not our fault when you guys stop fighting.
