Before f2p was introduced:

  1. I buy six accounts
  2. I do some excessive key farming on these six accounts
  3. I flood the TP with the items I get

After f2p was introduced:

  1. I do some excessive key farming on six accounts
  2. I buy these six accounts
  3. I flood the TP with the items I get

All that f2p did was swap steps 1 and 2.

So far, yes. But your conclusion makes no sense. Because these steps were flipped it removed the risk. It removed the risk to loose a 40$ account with no gain. F2p changed that so you have no risk (free accs) until you have enough to again and only at that point to invest $ for gain.

Exactly this has been solved with tuesdays patch.

40$ = 10$ and most 0$ cause bought with stolen credit cards

I thought there is currently only gw2 HoT for 40$ left to buy (anywhere)?

Else that really does make more sense.

… have the metrics in place to see accounts that grind in an excessive, abnormal manner …

Thats exactly what I wrote originally. I’m sure anet does monitor and has these metrics (if you look up some anets devs, you see that most of them are highly skilled experts in their fields) and I’m sure that based on these metrics anet did the restrictions. They obviously saw like I earlier stated that f2p abuse has there an issue after these people upgrade. Thats why they implemented the keyruns restrictions on all accs instead only f2p. It’s the logical way to fix this issue.
(But it’s not a good way for the normal legit player/keyrunner, because these now get more and more limitations only because f2p)

I don’t think this has anything to do with P4F. This falls into the same category of altering events to encourage players to do “other” things and to disrupt emergent game play modes that the devs frown upon. They were able to contain P4F accounts without altering things for paid players, they could have done the same in the PS.

No. Because malicious hardcore grind keyfarm f2p was possible for the bad people. Bad people did this in f2p, because there is no risk.
As soon as bad f2p people gain hundrets or thousands of keys/tickets without risk they can upgrade their f2p account and $$$$$.
Thats the problem. Thats why we all had to get this restrictions. Thats why its only f2p’s fault.

PS: If this gets deleted again then I serioustly have no idea how to explain it to someone. I wonder why it seems to be not allowed to explain the real reason why we all got these restrictions.

Explain what the risk was. If you mean accounts that grind gold for gold sellers. it doesn’t matter if the account is paid or free. The computers can see accounts with abnormal activity and they’ll ban a paid account as fast as a free one. If you don’t think ANet can’t spot bots, well they can. Gold grinding accounts don’t last long.

Risk is that real accs cost $, f2p don’t… Isn’t that obvious?

Silverwaste Chest Farming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bomber.3872

Bomber.3872

Your reply is what makes no sense.. never since SW was patched from the original buried chest spawn has there ever been 10x more event maps than there are CF maps…

Event maps are hard to find most days unless your prepared to sit and wait a whiles for one to pop, or try to get lucky jumping maps to hit an empty copy where you can start your own.

Chest farm maps are a poor lazy game design aimed at trying to retain as many players in game for as long as possible in the hope that more gem sales will happen to buy the latest re-skinned, re-themed item in the store. But ANET like it that way, they like all the failtrain and chest farms because it does just what they want… keeps players logged in longer meaning they don’t have to take more time than necessary actually developing meaningful content that has a lot better replay value.

You are a funny guy. I do every day around 5 eventmaps/vw per hour. After I have done one it takes around 1 min. in average until I have aa lfg group with SW events 70%+.

I can underatand that it seems hard to NOT get a sw 70%+. So if you want todo full event map from 0-100% then I have an awesome solution for you: Just relog! You will get an empty 0% SW like 99% of the times.
Ther you can grind solo these events up to ~80% and for the Rest people will join ‘automatically’!

Your rant against cf is out of place. It is really hard to find a cf map during primetime and it takes alot time and effort to get one. So if you are lucky to find a cf map, then you should embrace the farm, so you have at least a little bit fun ingame

I get it, being negative and doubting honest intentions is the in-thing right now, but shouldn’t we at least wait and see if there really is going to be a reduced supply in skins (apparently that’s all the vocal people care about?) or if the change in drop rate actually manages to do what ANet is trying to do in many other parts of the game, too, which is to distribute drops more evenly among the player base rather than concentrate them in the hands of the farmers?

So instead in the hand of farmer that actually do something for it, you like it more that the gw2 average player gets around 1key/1000h ingame (yes I got 3 rng keydrops in ~3k hours ingame) and that just some lucky rng —-——- people get more?

If your answer is yes, than I wonder why anet doesn’t just lock any loot behind high rn?. Like complete a dungeon and get an awesome 0.00001% rng chance on gettting 1 gold at the dungeon end or get nothing.

[Suggestion] Support loyal customer,limit f2p

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bomber.3872

Bomber.3872

To me it seems like those limits you are complaining about are aimed at the veteran player base first and most, so making them excempt from the restrictions would kind of defeat the purpose. On the other hand, f2p accounts already are severely restricted, I don’t think it’s in ANet’s interest to make them feel really 2nd rate by making it harder for them to even get drops. After all, they don’t have as much advantage from the drops anyway, since they can’t trade it, and by the time they upgrade they’re as much a paying customer as you and me and entitled to all their riches.

Yes exactly, but why put these restrictions on the veterans after these 3 years? Your example with some veterans doing alot of keyruns and getting gold out if it, is that bad? In my opinon keyruns are a fun ‘mindless’ part like silverwaste or like world completion for the 10th time.

And on f2p, I think you didn’t understand what I wrote. Like you wrote (and others), it seems that you think f2p are like these new naiv player that test gw2 and if they like it they buy the upgrade. Of course these f2p kind is wanted. I never wrote anything that would matter for these real f2p player. I’m sure these wouldn’t do xx keyruns per week either.
The problem with f2p in general is that there are of course people trying to abuse it or be bad. These kind of f2p could and did farm hundreds of blc keys and yes everything they get is limited at first. But after these ‘bad’ people upgrade their account, they can flood the TP, the market, or the gold exchange, because then there are no limitations left.

All change that happend seems exactly to prevent such f2p issues. Thats again why I would love it if these limitations would only exist for f2p accs and not on all.
Because for veteran accs these restrictions make no sense at all.

1. You don’t get to decide who does play and does not really play GW2. What they spend their karma on, if anything, does not determine if someone really plays GW2 or not. And like I said, there aren’t many karma sinks. Not everyone needs or wants a ton of gold or at least doesn’t want it enough to convert their karma. Now, could they have given a couple weeks to a month’s notice that the choose your own booster was going to lose karma as an option? Yes. But the drop in the karma booster has NOTHING to do with F2P accounts. Nothing. Zilch.

2 & 3. F2P accounts can not buy and sell whatever they want on the TP. There is a very specific list. I highly doubt that the BLTC ticket weapons are on that list of things they can buy or sell. If you have proof, show me.

So, what else in the chests aren’t account bound that can be sold and do you have proof a F2P account can even sell them?

They can’t even BUY or SELL dyes.

And if they buy the game, then they are no longer a F2P account and therefore don’t have the limits and would become part of the loyal customer base you wish to support.

Again fine, if YOU don’t need karma. That doesn’t mean there is too much karma, that only means you don’t use it. And of course the change was because f2p. Only f2p would have gained too much karma if anet wouldn’t have change it (hint: personal story items).

For the Rest, please stop writing f2p accounts have limited TP access. I know this, I knwo exactly what is limited and what not. Again f2p accounts are mostly used by new people to test or through malicious people. Fact is malicious people did farm blc keys for two weeks. Fact is that every f2p can farm anything and as soon as they buy an acc upgrade they influence TP+economy.

I have no idea how to explain the issue more clear. It’s not that hard to figure out alot of ways how f2p have a bad influence. Thats why anet changed common ingame mechanics. Thats what would be nice if these limits would only be for the f2p issues and not on everyone.

1. Booster change. There aren’t many karma sinks. So people tend to have more karma than they know what to do with. Since it would be hard to make a karma sink and have it not affect gold inflation, they can only change the rate of acquisition. So they slowed the karma gain down. Not related at all to F2P.

2. F2P accounts can only buy and sell specific items on the TP. Those items are likely not tradeable expensive event items. No harm will be done to the economy due to this.

3. More like ANet saw that the key running was likely affecting key sales in the gem store and that during the $10 sale too many people for their liking bought accounts to key farm. F2P accounts will likely not be able to sell anything from the chest, even if it’s not account bound on acquire.

Don’t see a problem with what your solutions try to fix.

It’s really hard to argument on this forum

1. So it is fair to create a karma sink which mostly effects people that paid $ for blc keys and got boost enchantment powder to convert even 2 karma to one storageable booster? I know there are people in gw2 that have too much karma, but that only because they don’t really play gw2. Karma is a valueable ressource which you have to use for alot of things and it can be converted to gold. Noone who plays gw2 alot can ever have enough or too much karma. I converted around 50-100 Million karma during these 3 years and I still need millions more.

2. I even explained exactly how f2p accounts can have an impact on the tp+economy. Is there really a step to step guide needed for some people to understand how it works???

3. same as 2. I explained it above how f2p accounts did farm blc keys during the last weeks and how it impacts on TP+economy. Yes, f2p accounts have limits, but for malicious people these limits are gone after they buy an upgrade to full account.
I understand that this is a problem, so yes it probably wouldn’t be fixed if anet had only limited f2p accounts. But they could have limitied only all non HoT accounts or all accounts younger 1/2 years. There are countless better ways to just limit the problem accs instead of creating a limit on all.

Like some of you wrote, I know that f2p accounts have already some limits. I want more limitation only for f2p accounts instead of all other accounts.

I think noone can deny that only since gw2 went f2p there were strange patches which somehow limited all existing accounts:

Anet often did rework different things, but I can’t recall any that had such strange effect mostly on existing “veteran” accounts:
- Short before f2p: Change of boosters. This is still strange if you think about the way how now boost enchantment powder works and that you can’t get karma boosters back.
- The “first” ingame event since f2p: Mordrem invasion. We already had scarlet invasions which worked fine ingame. If you look on all posts and problems people had with this event, its strange for me to understand why anet created it this way. Only reason I can think of is that it was especially designed for f2p player, but everyone got the same “restrictions”.
- Today’s change on blc keyruns is for me hard to understand. I know for sure that at least one dev from anet postet on this forum that keyruns are ok. Basically it was probably the main reason to make keyruns “less” efficient at the time anet changed the peronal story to be only available after you reach level 10. So why this change now after 3 years? Again the only thing I can think of is that f2p accounts somehow could do alot of keyruns and somehow gain too much out of it. (Maybe something like doing alot keyruns to get high amounts on blc keys and then upgrade the account, after that everything gained could be used).

So this are for me three major changes in a very short timeframe that kind of feel like restricting old customers for f2p reasons. That’s what my suggestion is about.

Maybe better solutions would have been:
- Boosters: The new ones could have been added as 1h versions only. That would have prevented any strange changes and would have been a nice change for all existing accounts. Instead f2p accounts could have been limited to not gain any boosters outside of the gemshop.
- Mordrem Invasions: Since loot and event rewards are char/account based, why not only limit f2p accounts on getting no loot and no event rewards? For all others it could have been like scarlets invasion.
- Keyrun limit: It seems possible to limit the gained keys to one/week per account. So why not create this limit only for f2p accounts? Then it couldn’t be abused by these.

We got two patches/changes since gw2 went f2p.

1. We got an awesome funny mordrem invasion.
2. We finally can have some spare time from these exhausting blc keyruns.

We got a lot of great patches and awesome new content during this year and we all support HoT with our prepurchase.
I know anet thought alot about us old veteran players at the time you gave us our great 3rd birthday gift.

After we had so much fun meeting new player and with all these events I had a little idea. Might it be possible for the future that you add more cool and awesome content for your long paying customers and limit only f2p accounts on the fun part?

Some ideas on past decisions might be like only giving your real customers some loot drops at the mordrem invasions and only limit f2p accounts on getting no loot. Another little idea would be to limit only f2p accounts on doing blc keyruns and let all your veteran paying customers play the game how it existed for over 3 years.

I know these ideas seem crazy and really hard to realize, but I’m sure all these great and smart people at anet that created fun for over 10 years for us can think of some way.

… by reusing the GW1 engine? That makes little sense.

hmmm….. what?
Anet didn’t reuse the gw1 engine! They worked ~2 years only on the gw2 engine. This engine has NOTHING todo with gw1.

And the engine was the main reason for gw2, because some things like jumping or the dynamic events or char moveing+fireing was just not possible with the gw1 engine. Since the gw2 announcement basically everything in gw2 has been build around the new engine possibilities.
Like jumping puzzles to show of the jumping capabilities, or pvp which got build around the dynamics movement system, or events as the ‘new’ way instead of quests, or the dynamic personal story scenes (which aren’t used in the newer gw2 content anymore, because some dev said they are a big load of work).

If you look at 5-6 years old informations and videos about gw2, you will find out that most innovation and most design concepts were and still are based on the new gw2 engine.

Seems like these two special “rare” items are waaay to abundant.

I like the idea of a salvager item that consumes ore, maybe choose the ore for it to munch and you get a better salvage rate?

Haven’t you read ANY answer here before your post????

For these items already exist 3 items ingame, they convert your dragonite and bloody things to other items

Tybalt mini, but no Seiran or Forgal?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bomber.3872

Forgal and seiran and alot of other minis would be great.

But, please NO Trahearne! He has to get killed and then we should wipe all memory of him. (Same with scarlets mini). These two just don’t deserve to exist as mini or as anything else.

The moment you try to join “community of people” with this event, you find nothing good about it. You find spoiled, egotistical and sad individuals that will use any excuse that can help them justify their pathetic behavior.

It’s a sad picture we were presented with, with this event.

Thats what I don’t get. I join these maps and create a lfg on mapchat (something like f2p wanted too). Then I can explain and show these new people exactly how tagging is done and ping them all wp’s. Because it’s only group I tag up as commander to have guideance for new player and I explain in mapchat exactly how everyone gets his 20 stacks.

How is that not helping and creating the community, or how is that egoistical or even bad for the community???

I really don’t understand why there are toxic people especially in mapchat that write against such community help and that these people try to decrease these great gw2 values.

Gem Store Sales Worst I've ever seen!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bomber.3872

If there is a legitimate demand, why would it be released on the anniversary sale versus say, Easter?

I personally don’t care for the bunny ears, but for me they are a perfect example of whats wrong with the gemshop.

First, bunny ears were already available until december 2013: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bunny_Ears

During this sale anet gave us again the SAME stuff we always get. The problem is, that on the forums are alot people asking for the same stuff again and again. For example the everlasting mining picks or these wings or costumes. People sometimes even ask for this stuff to return on the next day afer they were available…

Most veterans have all these items, because they could get them like a billion times.
On the other side there are gemshop only items which didn’ return to gemstore since 2-3 years and thats sad!
Example are the fused weapons (were BL chest only with rng), the 2012 winterminipets, the baseball cap, bunny ears, different “townclothes”, the boxing cuffs (sry don’t remember the name) and there are some dozen more of these items.

There is no reason why these haven’t been rereleased and instead that we got like a hundert times rox, braham, kasemeet, majory weapons…

So in my opinion there is not only a minority that really wants bunny ears, furthermore I think there is a majority which wants to buy the old gemshop only items again. (Instead of the same stuff again and again like during this sale…)

What happened to the 'no grind' philosophy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bomber.3872

Bomber.3872

The grind this event is not the Problepm. The Problepm is that the event is only 4 days and 1 day was lost for europeans because of bugs.

If anet would just let the event stay for 1-2 weeks, then amount of time needed for blossoms would be perfect!

Another toxic thread… Thats kind of sad currently. You stay behind and do one event. Fine, but the problem is, that you are not porting and giving your dmg to all the other events! That slows down everyone.

So not only you get fewer stacks, you even deny stacks for others. On top of that you are toxic about these people that play the event exactly how anet designed it and wants us todo it.

Furthermore, instead of explaining new f2p player how tagging works and how they get their 20 stacks, they get told wrong things and gameplaymechanics!

This toxcity has to stop, show new player how great the gw2 community is and how fast and easy we get 20 stacks while tagging!

Could lower level areas use work?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bomber.3872

Bomber.3872

Well, that f2p accounts quit very soon is kind of normal.

Anet used enough resources on the starter areas during the last 3 years.

Now it’s time anet focus more on their expansion, on returning veterans and in endgame content. If a f2p acc likes the game and upgrades it, fine thats the reason for it.
If f2p accs stop playing, who cares^^ Think about f2p accs more as test-/demoaccs for everyone who might even not like the game. Veterans are the people that like the game how it is, so no need to change it to something worse only for some f2p.

Modrem Invasion - 20 stacks within time limit

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bomber.3872

Thanks, this needs to be spread more. You can still see alot of people in mapchat having problems to reach 20 stacks (sometimes because of wrong instructions) or being toxic about people that only want to get their 20 stacks.

On further note: I really wish the toxcity in this community would stop. Currently it’s like at every mordrem invasion that people call you “selfish” or “unfriendly” or “not helping f2p player” if you try to explain and help others how to get 20 stacks. I really don’t understand why some have to be this toxic only because we play the game how anet wants us to play it!

Not really many people playing after f2p

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bomber.3872

I’m still running keyruns. I can see no change in new player activity between now and pre f2p. But for sure there where alot of new player after HoT was available for pre-purchase!

So I don’t think f2p got a lot of real new player ingame, probably it gave us more bots and people that play “some weeks” and then leave forever. I just hope the f2p impact won’t stay this bad as it seems right now, because gw2 really could use some more (or returning) real players that bought the whole game.
