These guys almost play as much as pro teams
Aeroxe keeps complaining he spends too much time in game and we have to keep reminding him 6 hours is required and 3 hours on “break” days.

Some autos like guardian scepter are hard to stow because you can’t stow the after cast which is like 70% of the duration. However it rly is up to preference. I like range skills on AA so I can strafe easier

I understand they wanted single elim because they expected 100 teams to sign up, but the fact is there’s going to be less than 16 and a double elim would not be that hard for an ALL DAY event.
Is this the only time you can be in combat on respawn? I fixed a bug some months back where just getting cleaved to death would leave you in combat on respawn for any class. I still experience this bug on Live though, but it could only be when I’m playing ranger and I haven’t noticed.
I’ve respawner in combat on dh but cannot 100% say I didn’t have a stray trap activate. I did drop combat 3s after respqwn though
Not tested but there’s no reason both shouldnt trigger. So eventually they’ll be on stuttered CDs if you get ccd enough. However if they’re both off CD you should get aegis retal trap effects and both go on respective cd
and since it Peirces + can grant stability on a 4second cooldown , it ether needs a longer cooldown(6seconds) because of its Utilitiy the stability granted lasts 6seconds so it can carry over into the second trueshot making the DH have pretty much enough Stability to take any CC he likes after the first Trueshot.
True Shot doesn’t bring any utility. Since Heavy Light is on a 10s cd, you cannot line up multiple True Shots under stability nor can you take any amount of cc. It’s a single stack.
I think overall Dragonhunter is good, just need to tone the damage on traps down a bit (not into the ground just not able to take people out by themselves).
Traps are supposed to deal damage. What else are they supposed to do when you’ve sacrificed 4 of your 5 utility slots and 2 of your 3 traits to improve them?

Guardian hasn’t been top 4 ever since MAYBE you could argue bunker guard was during the zoo ranger meta.

How long did you top tier guys spend to get to that level of yours ? Did you have to play all other classes, do you have to get glorious 60 frame rate and inborn perception and reflexes to see all that happens during fights ?

You don’t disengage and reset the fight at your leisure, you eat 3k autos. Good plan.
step 1 disengage and use los so guardian cant attack
step 2 the guardian is better than a pve dungeon hero and SoW + mightyblow + SC + JI + GH + leeching and you insta die because you couldnt see the burst
1. use sword/gs
2. use blurred frenzy DEFENSIVELY
3. run double energy, it works much better
4. use full distortions (3clone) if possible
5. save blink for JI as mentioned
6. ileap + mirrorblade shatter after baiting dodges with CoF’s and blurred frenzys is a really good idea
7. if you do land it or know you will land burst, use diversion preemptively so that they cant shelter (cant shelter with daze unless they burn a stunbreak and a lot of inexperienced guards wont recognize the diversion quickly enough_
8. live live live, the longer you live the better you are, especially if you keep your HP above 50% and keep the invigoration trait ready when you need it
words of advice from my many duels vs zeromis who i consider the best shatter v guard dueler ive ever met
and btw dont do that disengage BS, at worst use a MI to gain ground and then just GS wail til he gets to you but its still not a good idea imo

aegis use to stack but was removed since virtue of courage would stack 3x usually which was apparently OP. with the new by default “infinite” duration passive aegis though it would probably be okay. would make it easier to keep UC up…
i personally don’t mind the role of guardian which is the master of zerker classes; its basically the only class that has decent infight survivability without kiting or stealthing and does zerker level damage and wrecks other zerkers in fights. only problem with it atm is the low health pool so a lich auto will 1 shot you from 90% lol

Lets be real AG is a tournament where 90% of real teams and top tier players are banned. There were like 2 players in that game that can maybe even be considered B tier. You could probably run spirit weapon guardian and win with the right team.

legacy: go after you have 350 or when the clock is low enough that youll win on time with a 150 point boost
forest: take bosses when youre regrouping and they cant steal, when you wipe the enemy team, and when you need them to win the game
temple: go to buffs when spawn UNLESS you know the enemy team wont and you dont need them at the moment. ignore ferocity.
khylo: treb is that thing that really really depends. if you know you can coordinate cc use them in team fights to land shots with cc. mesmers with portals are also good for using them since they can instantly repair. don’t ever repair unless you have a portal or you completely wiped the enemy team (you still shouldnt). a lot of the times its better to not use treb at the start then mid-game use it and catch the enemy team off guard.
itll probably be a lot easier to press different buttons if youre not pressing hte same one 500 times lmao. bad habit and really bad if you play thief since weapon skills will q. Just stop doing it and youll probably be a decent player. even if your left hand can use JUST AWD youll be as good as most players.
okay no one in this thread is really completely right. I play guardian probably most competitively out of the people I saw posting here (unless theres some EU dude i didnt recognize).
Thief:
One of the best ways to win is to save skull crack until your steal is back up, use it, force a stunbreak, then f1+f1 to steal skullcrack AGAIN right after his stunbreak. This is honestly one of the best ways to beat a guardian if youre doing consistent damage over the duel. Its one of the strategies some of the best dueling thieves like Caed uses. Furthermore using steals out of stealth is helpful, since they’re very unlikely to just rng dodge or block it if you learn the timing from practice. If youre going against very skilled opponents, dont use steal off cd cuz they might be counting it.
Save shadow step for rings or immobs that you didnt see coming. Use panic strike + daze to your advantage cuz if they’re low on cd’s it might mean a straight up 3s STUN which is instantly death with little cds. Use cd’s to extend the fight as long as possible.. typically the longer the duel the more likely you’ll win IF youre doing consistent damage. You can also try to predict shelters (I honestly shelter unconsciously when you refuge) by basi+ sb4 since its unblockable. So a refuge> basi cast> sb swap> sb4 as fast as possible will get a lot of guardians.
And theres a little luck in improv lol. I usually lose a duel to thieves who get their improv proc’d on the first 2 steals (happykid lol)
Mesmer:
There’s only one mes on NA i lose to (sorry night its not you) and that’s zeromis. He runs greatsword sword/focus with DOUBLE ENERGY. Don’t be thinking you have to run air/fire because its high dps, the double energy IS more dps cuz of shatters as well as more survivability. Save blurred frenzy defensively. Use diversion to prevent invulns/shelters to land a good mindwrack+mirror blade. Use ileap for a GS swap to land your burst because a ileap+BF is far too predictable. Blink is typically used for when youre caught in a ring or immob you cant invuln, and should be saved for such; don’t waste it. You have so many utilities to dodge hammer burst and outdamage scepter burst that if you play perfectly throughout the fight and dont eat a stupid mighty blow because you forgot to dodge, you’ll win most of the time in perfect play vs perfect play. Just try to use these tips as much as possible. You can also whisper zeromis and see what he thinks though i dont know how much he wants to be bothered.
if we make every skill non instant then we have to make dodges non instant so I’ll never use a skill when I see you dodge-windup

The only problem is that it hides animations. It might be pretty but it’s not better gameplay wise.
I don’t play LoL, never will. But I get that this mode is being given to us based on that game’s popularity. Lane’s, Heroes, etc. But I don’t see why anyone would want to play defense in this game, as it doesn’t award you squat.
I spent the last two matches trying out Consecration skills with Tome of Courage, Staff, Sceptor/Focus. In both matches I did well enough. I was using Sanctuary to cover our supplies, and constantly buffing our NPC’s. Both matches were a loss, but only because of points. I was able (with helps of teammates ofc) to keep our lord alive.
But they netted us losses. Again, defense in this game is not warranted.
Well back to my face smash medi guard. I thought it would be fun to try a new build, but if it’s all about speeding to smash lord, then screw defense…
If you don’t defend your lord kinda dies and you lose the game. Also killing attacking NPCs awards points.

I dont really get why people are saying that the skill is fine. Just because it has two effects I shouldnt be able to rupt both? Which other block works like that anyway. When a block gets rupted like that it always stops blocking. This one is the only excepetion. Even when this would be intended. It is obviously badly designed and should be changed.

They could change the skill that way, that you could still do that, but when your blocks gets rupted it acutally stops blocking.

This is just a bad argument. Because stuff is broken other stuff shouldnt be fixed? Of cause both should be fixed. Do you think just because I main thief I dont want, that the bugs in relation to my class dont get fixed? I multiclass anyway. I just want this game to be bugfree. I dont want to have an adventage over other specs.
When you rupt shelter from guardian with magnet, fear me, sbow4+basi etc. it still keeps blocking. Pls fix.

On the other hand, Renewed Focus (the meditation elite which is supposed to be instant cast and to provide 2 seconds of invulnerability) is bugged and can be inturrepted by attacks that push you as ranger’s logbow #4 or engineer’s rifle #4. As result, you get pushed, you eat the damage and you elite enters in cooldown. Bugged from the release.
I really never saw that happening and i already used overcharged against renewed focus quite some times.
so if i expect an interupt should i just cancel right before hand so i keep the block andthe same thing happens? like im not sure what we could do here
What I will say is that Hybrid/Condi Guardians make great roamer builds. It’s the best roaming 1v1 build in WvW hands down. Especially against classes like Thieves, Ele’s, and Warriors who seem to have the ability to peel for days.

Your MMR is not static if you can not carry you will lose your MMR will adjust down to place where your “high” MMR can carry, I mean if you are that good. So much QQing. All these examples of high MMR losing because of this and that, let it happen lose your MMR will adjust to something more accurate.

which means if I got 1 point per win (some of which were solo victories vs full premades) then I’d be losing .71 points for each loss.

so like the last post I put up. WHY IS ANET PUNISHING HIGH MMR AND FONDLING LOW MMR TURRET BADDIES?
ideally you want minimum of 2 point holders, with the rest being dps. four zerker is possible, but very hard to pull off and i would say it necessitates a meditation guardian. starting with a healing shout warrior and a meditation guardian is a good idea as the two builds are super potent when combined, and provide a good support/dps base for the team.
avoid double ranger, mesmer and thief. ideally have people play their strongest class using a build that works well with the team. this is why having two mains is ideal, as you can switch without becoming a bad player (i can kill noone 1v1 on an ele for example).
looking at EU and NA tournaments for team comp ideas is good, especially EU as they are more creative.
actually medi guard + shoutbow is one of the worst 2v2 combos possible with current metabuilds
I think that guy with 27-2 record yesterday must be pretty good don’t you and he was #1 for a while.
to be fair genyen was qing with full premades, a lot of them with partial abjured pugs.

guardian is honestly really balanced.
you guys make the points that the longer the fight goes on the more likely you’ll lose. Okay then concentrate on making it as short as possible. also we have good chances vs anything but ele (hammer kitten s engi and greatsword kitten s shutbow, both win everything else) in 1v1. We do have good kiting because we have so much low counterplay counterpressure that youre forcing other players on the team to NOT attack you unless they want to risk being 100-0’d if we still had cd’s. The only way guardian could really be that weak is if theyre keeping track of your cds and making you waste them while not kitten them with a teammate. In celestial meta usually yourp artner will be doing so much damage that if you’re targeted then they’ll be owning an enemy while you also attack and just burn through cds. If theyre smart and make you waste cds you can just keep virtue of resolve up and LoS and use smite condition off cd for your sustain. Honestly just pressing smite condition is about 50% of healing signets sustain haha. (1.8k heal every 16s nice). We don’t need “passive skills” to carry us because our low cd and many different abilities achieve the same thing.
if people are having problems on guardian in a certain situation let me know and I’ll explain what I would do at top level pvp in that situation..
