Not in the least I unlocked it and played around with it a bit, but I find it is too unreliable for the investment of points.
We’d have been better off with a X second long reflection one weapon swap.
No matter how much Anet hopes that the players will play the entire game, they seem to push quite a bit towards the spvp end and it seems, at least to me, that players are generally not so well disposed to all modes of play (see season 1 living story and the WvWer’s or Kites hunting in the Sanctum) so no matter how much they push there will be players who want nothiing to do with anything outside of their mode of choice.
It’s a stand and cast skill, before when people were stilling learning how to play the game it was the destroyer of worlds (with basic cc and prenerf quickness), to be honest if Anet hadn’t been in warrior’s corner then the weapon set would have be nerfed into useless anywhere.
Ah. Sad to say that for while no longer true that was the state of things for as long as it was. It kind of feels like they replaced most of the original design from the time the game finished beta and the last year/year and a half.
So is your issue the fact that projectiles due to the mechanic designed within the game can surpass the listed range?
I don’t see how that’d be the case. We do have raptors ingame already and they’re nothing at all like moas save for the fact that they have feathers.
Currently in game the raptors aside from the native aggression behave exactly like the moas in combat.
That still is not ‘instantaneously’. Would it be prefered if opponents can dance around the projectiles without needing to dodge?
You’re kidding, right? The boots on heavy armor look so big, bulky and heavy both on male and female that if there were boots like that in real life they wouldn’t be able to walk they’d be so heavy.
It’s the shoulders that are too big.
On which races. Norn have boat feet so all are big for them. Charr get odd cutouts (some asura too) and Sylvari feet are even smaller than humans so…
It just isn’t heavy armor, many (perhaps all non cultural) armor sets (seem to me) were designed for either male or female human (and perhaps even only certain body types of the aforementioned choice gender) and then any other variation is just kind of rushed or not well thought out.
More people would practice in the practice mode if it wasn’t switch/hold entrance for the win or (un)happy-get-the-dailies-(un)funland and toxic to boot. But I guess the mode can afford to lose more people willing to try… oh wait.
Ah the tribalism. If everyone got to pick a profession that is ‘cancer’ to the game mode then there would be none left.
Not sure which is funnier, thieves telling people to l2p in regards to stealth or watching them complain about channels skills.
Eventually they get smart enough and not be a newb anymore and not be a person that is farmed.
Unfortunately, more likely they quit and never come back to PvP. Thus PvP never becoming a thriving, well populated game mode and never reaching its full potential.
Even if they do get through that part there is still the lobby chat that could very well drive them away. They are kind in a bind there.
Well there’s some busy work if they ever decide the UI person/people need a reason to still be focused on one task.
RtW, which almost all LB rangers take makes the arrow hit instantaneously.
Not at all that is just perception fooling you there, that and how stupid slow the projectiles were in the beginning. Read the Wind would have been deleted if it had launched in the beginning of the game.
Traps are awesome,
While they are fun and add to the over all play-style of the Ranger I feel that traps are a major eyesore design-wise they have very little ‘out of the box’ functionality, but can be traited to be improved to the standards that most profession expect out of their utility skills.
Sadly it would probably just be a slightly reskinned moa.
There was the Aquaman patch, but that kind of was invalidated by the whole removal of underwater combat from spvp. I wouldn’t be surprised of the new areas in HoT lack it as well.
This also marked the start of the spirit ranger meta and hambow meta. Can’t believe it was so long ago.
I can with the snails pace of balance patches.
yes, I have “put some effort” into it, that is why I made a comment that ANet seem to have ‘deleted’ them … you get NO prompts in game, and, despite there being a few good Mr Google outside sources, the place where one used to be able to get pets have none!
I am hoping, now I have reached lvl 30, that they become available again … or do I have to be lvl 80?
Was part of the NPE patch they removed many of the pets out of the starting areas. Basically for PvE/WvW if just means they want rangers to explore more, wound be nice if the normal wolf had a few additional areas of existance though. But acquisition of pets isn’t really even remotely a concern as PvP give access to all the pets.
As for the other issue of the pet as I have been saying since the beta’s they are in a bad place from a design point:
1) They (seem to me) to have been designed for a older stand and cast style game
2) The utility F2 have unwield long cast/animation time for no good reason at all (probably adds to the feeling of #1)
3) The perception the player base has for the pets will always be a limiting factor for their continued designer. If the pet is to perform as well as it is to be expected then that can lead to a labeling of easy button or no skill* (in spvp where most of the developers concerns seem to be).
4) They are afraid to increase the skill floor of the Ranger to allow for more control.
5) The effort to effect of proper pet use is not where it needs to be.
*We are lucky that there are a number of decent thieves in existence or their collective whining would have destroyed channel skills and pet just as the warrior’s got them changes.
Could also be a bug as I hit the ground alive day before yesterday. Was a pain as it shorted my team for the time it took to get a worm to defeat me.
I have yet to have it happen to me or see it happen to someone else has been Skyhammer and Courtyard.
I have had this happen on Skyhammer, though not frequently and not for a while. Never in Courtyard, but I haven’t played that map nearly as much as the others.
So let just go with it is a general sPvP bug.
The map is bugged.
I respawn inside the enemy spawn/next to the spawn point/below the map quite often. No hacks or leaps needed, it just randomly happens.
It is not just foefire the only maps I have yet to have it happen to me or see it happen to someone else has been Skyhammer and Courtyard. While Foefire has the most problems from this bug it is a general mode bug that needs correcting.
I like endgame more than leveling up part of the game.
In fact, Tomb of Knowledge would sell more if it was in the cash shop because leveling is boring in this game.
I originally brought this game because the developers lied and mislead that GW2’s endgame starts at level 1 which it actually doesn’t since you can’t even build a character at level 1 nor be useful in the group content in the game until level 80. I am sure endgame means a lot to people. I enjoy collecting skins and unlocking stuff.
I would hope for a better WvW reward system for progression there.
I think the issue with low levels not being useful is more to blame on the level scaling not being quite right (sure a cap level character should have advantages, but not the point that with enough of them in a map cause at level players to suffer) and was compounded by the changes in the level experience from the NPE patch.
I think it’s bogus that projectiles will still follow you when you go stealth. Especially vs. the ranger rapid fire skill. When I play thief you’re either forced to double dodge to avoid most of the damage or run like hell. Stealth should be a way of evasion from ranged shots.
Rapid Fire is a channeled skill (see the link before), that means they targeted you and activated the skill before you went into stealth. So other than the completion of the channel they can not reacquire a target on you until stealth has ended.
What’s next do you want to be invulnerable during stealth so you can’t be hit by melee flailing around/area of effect fields?
I swear I think the only ones who really benefited from that GW2 sale was the scammers/gold sellers.
Umm… Your friend was completely new to PvP and you brought him into UNRANKED for a first taste of it? Why didn’t you bring him to Hotjoin instead until he learned the ropes? Even if you guys didn’t get a full guild group, chances are you wouldn’t have been stomped so badly.
I don’t blame him Practice is nothing more than a toxic (Un)Happy Daily Get done fest depending on persons playtime.
Oh dear. Someone almost got killed in WvW.
On that note, as a ranger myself, I’d pop either spring or troll, and then tear that glass cannon warrior apart. He just used his one gimmick.
Now he dies.
Or switches to greatsword and set a new land speed record in retreating.
It’s intended. Unblockable attacks including projectiles can’t be reflected.
Is there really a point for it to be a projectile at that point as it gains all the benefits, but lack the negatives of that rider. There are already plenty of non-projectile ranged attacks, would the loss of the finisher on the skill make much of difference?
Get this guy reasonong: Eviscerate is OP because is bound to f1 key; anybody who disagrees is a warrior fanboy. Flawless.
Just as bad as the Warrior is being attack, quick take shots at Rapid Fire while trying for hundred blades buffs.
Might needed an adjustment. They’re scaling back might to see if it fixes some of the celestial issues. If celestial is still a problem, I imagine they’ll scale that back as well.
Personally, I laugh at people who think celestial is a problem. Every “problem” with celestial becomes irrelevant without might stacking.
Or they will shave might again and adjust the celestial stats, double tap make sure it is dead.
so just accept the fact that condis are made for PVP small group combat.
The entire game mechanics was built for that not just condition.
If anything the change to how fgs 4, dagger fire 3 and staff 4 worked was to bring ele damage down a tad in pve. They still do massive damage anyway.
Lolno. It was nerfed because some kitten (I wish he will have hiccups to the end of his days) used FGS to kill Foefire lord on one of public Anet tourneys, and they nerfed into the ground it immediately, because they care only about lolesports balance. Dagger and staff was nerfed only because they use same mechanic as FGS.
Anyone have a video of that? I’d like to see it, as FGS was one of those adjustment that getting used to stat the modes other than sPvP are considered with balance patches. I am of the opinion that PvE and WvW are taking not really taken in account when they feel the need to adjust things.
Justin, if I can get a video capture of the bug would that with date and time be helpful?
We had a guy on our team be honest and tell us it was his first PvP match. Another team member (and not a guildmate) told the other team it was his first match, so I think he had a pretty rough go of it. We won, though.
Not saying that matchmaking is perfect, but what if that was the best option for him without what could be considered a ‘unreasonable’ queue time? A bit worrisome there.
As long as the length of queue is part of the equation (and I don’t think that in itself is a bad thing, no one wants to wait to enjoy a game) that will account for a portion of the matchmaking issue.
Whirling Axe on warrior (axe 5) does 50% more damage in PvP. There is the difference in damage on confusion and retaliation (I can’t recall the exact numbers though).
You do realize that they are very unlike to do anything about what goes on in what is basically the practice (old name hot join) area of the mode. The fact that players can just jump back in to spectator at force an auto balance basically ‘match fixing’. As you can not be kicked out of an unranked or ranked match those are basically the only areas of the game that might enforce the policy, Frankly if it bothers you that much then maybe you should avoid the practice mode.
But really what do you expect they don’t even punish use of exploits in the tournaments are you really expecting them to ban someone that was willing to pay for access to the arena?
summon AI (frost spirit)
There is no need to list this as a separate thing the frost spirit is more akin to a banner than any other summon AI in the game.
I’ll try to keep track of when it happens to me the next time as it has me avoiding unranked in favor of practice as of late. (Limited playtime for that mode as my wife is still learning the game as a whole so much of my time is spent with her.)
A lot will depend on what they would need to do in designing the Revenant to allow it to have place in pvp. If anyone recalls the up-down that was dhummfire for necromancer just to get more of a present in the modes, so image a profession no ones knows how to play and a possibility of half a year with no adjustments to it.
2. Night capping/having the biggest group during off hours = win
2: Lock and Freeze all borders when one of the servers have less then X players playing in or wanting to play WvW.
So for example if there are less then 60 players in EotM, the borders, Eternal Battlegrounds and queues of one of the 3 servers.
All borders will be locked. All upgrades and PPT will be frozen. And all players still in it will be kicked out.
So EB will always stay open.
As soon there are again more then 60 players on each server playing WvW or in queues the borders will open up again and unfreeze.
Dolyaks will start moving again. Workers continues working. And the PPT will start adding score to the total score.
Just wanting to say right there that the solution for your number 2, would be 10. bias to play times. 2). Probably cost the mode more players than in could afford to lose, and 3). Lead to potential abuse as a losing server could boycott the mode to freeze the match.
Just picturing it now. An asura saying “I can call you a bookah in seven different languages.”
Bhawb you forgot the minion’s natural predator. The blade of grass.
Play ranked —> no courtyard
Then he’ll just be back with complaints of Premade after premade.
First, your math is way off. Unranked would be faster. Secondly, it doesn’t matter. They OWN the arena, paid for it, and can do whatever they want with it. Those rules are in place for ranked/ unranked arenas. Not sure why they don’t just put a password on the arena and then they don’t have to worry about people coming in they don’t want.
I think putting a password up will turn off progression and that might matter to them.
Maybe Burst meta could be a better term, but could confuse new posters.
who wrote the AI until now then? an intern?
Garm. He’s had a lot of time, but the lack of thumbs and being and NPC really limits his performance in that role.
One problem with no crit is that there are conditions that proc on crit. Giving higher armor and maybe less hp would be a good way to promote conditions a little bit, at least for bosses.
Perhaps, but with the whole games design being hinder with the limitation of 5v5 conquest mode balance it will be some time before PvE can really progress that and the condition caps (along with passive condition are going to happen traits when critical hits) make a condition focus player in a place where they may not get credit no matter the effort they put into the encounter (not to mention the general population focus of burn it before it can do anything/time limit style dps (gear) check encounter design)
You are lucky they didn’t put you in timeout to think about want you’ve done.
