Is it just me or do a lot of the asura hairstyles look like they are just running around in a wig?
No, you are just going to get stuck on grass that much sooner.
I think the issue got a bit deeper than the male/female armors and charr/asura only getting the male version. It seems to me that many armor set were basically designed for one human gender or another and the alternative version is often bland or at the very least not very well thought out.
Sadly it would probably be too much to ask for some more racial touches to the armors released (at the very least stop with the cutout toe boots and tail clipping.) Or perhaps place a warring on non-human races mentioning the potential issues with armor skins (kind of like the one associated with cooking).
This thread isn’t about just about male and female armor sets for all races. It’s about being anatomically correct.
Why would the charr have that many mammaries (that and they would probably be on the lower abdominal area (and covered with fur))? So far they haven’t been show to have litters, they seem to be solidly in the one-two offspring a pregnancy.

I think that some of this boils down to people (who the living story, or whatever content addition that did not fit what they wanted) saying their is “no new content” instead of saying “none of the new content there suited me or my playstyle/preference so it must not have happened, la la la no new content la la la”.
While not hypocritical in nature such a few is problematic as there is no way to please everyone all the time and so there may come a time for players to look elsewhere for entertainment (and a least for the time being) there is the ability to return to GW2 if the urge is upon an individual.
My issue with retaliation is that with its current design, true projectiles will proc it, but can also be reflected (and profession with retaliation often have access to reflection as well). I think that if it can be reflected then retaliation shouldn’t proc.
On the note of boon striping good luck on that the rate of application of boons far exceeds the rate of removal with (even if a profession as access to anything beyond the sigils).
Why they decide to make almost all of the pet related ‘in combat only’ is beyond me. Anyone have any idea why?
At least you respawned I had a match yesterday. where a team mate got stuck dead, would not res. So 4 v 5 for no good reason, can’t blame him for not wanting to close and try to return.
But when the (meta and teams) are built around bugs/flaws in the system every fix is a risk of alienating the player base. It would be nice to have Anet at least take a stronger stance than “Not working as intended, and it will be fixed” while waiting for the right time. It is kind of funny how fast they fix when rangers had fury on hit bug on longbow, wasn’t even a week if I recall how are some of the other class bugs still around, or if the fixes are ready have to wait for patch day?
There have been issues with bug abuses in tournaments. I can remember specifically when a team ONLY won because they were using the warrior reflect bug so we couldn’t beat their warrior(s) with our designated side node guy because the war had 50% up time on projectile reflect AND could attack at the same time.
If they want esports then they need to have some standards, but if they banned players/teams for that they would probably not have many left. Win at any cost, and all that.
In before merger to the daily feedback and before anyone tells you to do something besides pve.
Post Edit: Took them a bit longer than I was expecting for the merger.

I understand the hesitation in wanting to ban unbalanced abilities in competitive play (by competitive I mean like WTS) but given that “balance” updates are few and far between it seems the only fair conclusion because the game is not updated as frequently as it needs to be in order to create a fair competitive environment.
I would also like to mention that I agree with Shockwave. Even though you don’t see 5 d/d ele teams rolling around you often see things such as 2 engis, 2 d/d ele, X. Which imo, is class stacking of the 2 strongest classes and I believe the only reason they have engis is because they don’t know 2 d/d eles that are available as most every team desiring to be competitive has at least 2 d/d eles.
If they would place more fixes of known exploitative option/bug instead of saving them to pad the balance patches, it might be better for the game. Wasn’t there a bug during one of the tournaments/events (not the last one but middle of last year) that with the trait manipulation you could have the passive of signet of might without the signet equipped?
The OP already mentioned he is not playing for the daily, learn to read people. Not everybody cares about the worthless achivement points.
Basically if they don’t get the rng working (or take a profession out of the listing after it shows up on the daily) being a main thief, guardian or engineer is kind of risking seeing that kind of match up.
Guardian and thief yes but as far as engis go u can have more then 3 and be ok any cele build not just engis tho
While they can win with multiple it still means a longer queue as the matchmaking doesn’t want to put them together, but will if ‘it has to’.

I honestly believe if the other professions had the same kind of problems related to how ranger interact with the game they would have to shut down the forums.
That would be my organization. We run a weekly 2v2 event that bans PU mesmer and heavily discourages SA thieves. Not for the reasons discussed in the OP however. We banned those builds because their only purpose was for trolling/stalemating their opponent, which while it may work in conquest, has no place in a game mode where the objective is to actually kill your opponent.
Actually by defining that reason as “has no place..” that kind of illustrates a similarity of concept, unfortunately Anet has decide to take the "we make square blocks’ method of class design while content comes in a “variety of shaped openings.”
I’d like a main hand dagger for my ranger.
Standard two-target auto? What would be it focus condition, power, or hybrid. Would it continue the trend of evasive ranger weapons. If they got lazy it could end up with the thief 1 chain, an evasion frame move, and a disabling ranged attack that let the pet siphon health or some such pet related follow up.
Captain America’s primary weapon is a fist his secondary is shield
I recall at certain points he was above pulling out a handgun as well.
DIdn’t some of the smaller 3rd party 2v2 3v3 events last year ban PU mesmer and all rangers while getting advertisement on Ready Up?
It’s part of Pvp.
You could just say that toxicity is part of the internet experience as well, but they do take a stance on and if they choose to take a it’s PvP stance it very much could lead to problems of why is Bob’s account banned for harrasement in PvE, when Jim is say the same kinds of things in pvp. PvP shouldn’t get a pass, there are levels of behavior that is expected in these kinds of interaction.
But what do I know they just hand waved a weapons threat away as that someone just joking or being passionate about the mode. So maybe that is setting the tone of pvp in gw2.
In before this gets merged with other race threads.
It may just be time to relabel it daily (un)happy farm mode.
Get rid of it? It looks kinda good, but I dont understand why so much trouble went into something no-one was asking for?
EoTM was originally designed as an area for players to go to be able to do WvW while waiting out queues, which in the past used to be really, really bad for some servers..talking hours everyday, every map at least in t1 it was. Heck on reset nights, maps were queued until saturday morning, wouldnt break till around 5-6am sometimes. But that was then. People quickly discovered EoTM can be used to karma train and level up toons so now you have another zerg driven farm map that pve’ers want to complain about whenever anything challenging comes up.
It could aways get worse they could just remove the option and stick the wvw queue people in with the pvp crowd in the mist wait for a spot.
The devs are most likely in EOTM…
Is quite possible as the player base has very little information on which servers have the developer population. Up until the adopt a dev I was of the assumption that most (with any design influence) played on tier 1 or tier 2.
Oh wow, I always thought that entangle roots just apply their effects to anything standing on them…
Apparently it is too much to ask for skills to kind of at least work similarly across the profession. I wonder if a thief in stealth is stunned by the supply crate.
General question here ( I am curious on the issue as I do not seriously play the mode as I find the implementation of it lacking) about the whole topic would you rather they sanction WvW so that combinations like perplexity are remove at the cost of there no longer being a gear/level advantage chance?
The problem with some people’s views on pets is stemming from a biased standpoint in a particular game mode. Shouldn’t the class at least have semi-effective builds in all game modes (if designed correctly)?
The “I’ll show you how to play a ranger” or “your not using the pet” aren’t valid arguments by any stretch.
sPvP – Nobody should be arguing that pets are under-powered here. Many of them shine with a variety of builds. It may take practice, but it’s doable.
PvE (No world bosses) – The jury is out on this one. Seeing as some enemies ignore the pet’s presence, it really negates having the pet, given pathing issues and slow F2 response.
PvE (Dungeons & World Bosses) – Pets are supposed to account for 40% of your dps. You can’t sustain 40% of your dps if they are:
- sitting by your side
- continually being called back or swapped out
- dead because of unavoidable 1 hit ko’sWvW (General Play) – By general I mean what people usually do there and that’s zerg. Maybe some small or medium group play; either way the pet is useless in all these scenarios due to pathing issues, lagging F2, and AoE.
WvW (Roaming) – If your somehow able to avoid the zerg and stay in 1v1 or maybe 1v2 scenarios, the pet is fine in skilled hands. Most people don’t go to WvW to roam, they go to zerg, and given the amount of complaints of roamers and smaller groups being run over by the zerg, it pretty much negates the pet.
So we have 5 scenarios; 1 of them, the pets are fairly advantageous, 1 is a toss up, 1 is semi-useless and based on luck, while 2 of them are completely useless.
To me it sounds like we should have the option to play with the pet because it really limits the effectiveness of the class as a whole.
Not sure if they have fixed all of them yet, but I do recall some pets will not attack object and some boss are basically just that. Many of the issue I can recall most recently involve open world underwater, but we all know how anet fells about underwater combat…
How the profession is played is directly related to getting rid or making the pet better… so… And starting another thread that is just going to be ignored by Anet, like this one, because it contains things that would make the Ranger better but they are the ostrich with its’ head in the sand is pointless… much like this thread.
I would love to see how the other profession would deal if their mechanic behaved as poorly as the ranger pets, imagine toolbelt/attunement taking the time to activate the way most pet skills do.
A large part of the general issue with ranger is the pvp communities stance on programmed behavior features (pets, minions, etc), but that isn’t to say that they designed pets as if the game would be an archaic stand and cast relic from the past instead of the action-based combat game.

What makes any of these things “PvE rewards”?
What makes you “forced” to get any of these particular rewards?
Why are you not “forced” to get other rewards that are available from PvP, or are PvP-exclusive?
Where are you getting your figures on player numbers from?
The fact that a water breather was place in that reward set is a bit odd as the only reason water combat is still in the game is it would be too much work to remove it from the open world.
Just a thought if they are going to include world bosses then why not have in game UI to support the tracking the time of the one for that day.
So if you had to pick 1-3 maps the one you prefer and 1-3 maps you would never want to see again what are they and why?
Well courtyard was them throwing a bone to the community begging for something other than conquest. Skyhammer have you read the complaint that map got (I think it is funny because suddenly there are additional factor to pay attention to and that trips people up a lot), and Spirit Watch I can only guess is problematic for balance within it self. Agree or disagree doesn’t matter, we could argue all day and to what end?
Ranked is where most of there concerns are think about it the need to remain in the mist to queue (preventing missed pops), standard models only in ranked, the need for leader boards at all.
Is it just me or does it seem like engineer is on the list a lot more often than the others?
Ok = Not Good… Just… Ok… Meaning LOTS of room for improvement… They can start with the keybinds.
As stated numerous times they are not giving the rangers any additional keybinds for pet control they do not want to increase the skill floor on the profession for the sake of tPvP.
So I wouldn’t hold your breathe on it. By the time they changed that stance there will be another title that is similar enough to pull players away.
On your later l2p rant. the games basic design with the (general easiest/fast solution mentality of the vocal player base) combined with stacking (take away most if not all of the risk vs reward out of melee) is just painting the game into corners. Any variety that does not cater to that design will be ignored (i.e. faster better rewards elsewhere).
It does bring me to a question do you wait for the youtube how to video on new content? Or are you a liability to you own party trying to learn the timing on sword (or do you take the dps lost for greatsword safety, which is lowering your damage and making you a liablity to your party) for the new fight.
None of this is actually contributing to the subject at hand so if you want to give the breakdown on how you feel the profession should be played then I suggest you start your own thread on it.
A major issue with additional modes is without refocusing the core of their game design (conquest) you will not see them in Ranked. And Ranked is mostly what matters to the developers.
Let’s them continue that kind of behavior if the report system fail to do anything about it (as they have a PvPers will be PvPers kind of stance on it) then watch how they cry for Play PvP without buying to shore up the ranks in a mode that will need them desperately if all those who only dabble in it suddenly stay out to give the ‘True PvPer’ what they want.
Basically the trait is poorly named they really intended it to be melee mastery, but with that name the effect is underwhelming, like most ranger traits.
This is because the Level 80 is “down-leveled” to a level appropriate for the area. So s/he isn’t operating at true Level 80 powerfulness.
I have to state that even powered down 80s in the right areas can 1-2 shot things. The down scaling as well as the area/event scaling of the game still need quite a bit of work, otherwise there may need to be additional filters such as natural character level/gear to the sorting of the mega-server maps.
Was always amazed that they gave greatswords ot rangers instead of hammers…
When (if) they finally add a weapon to each class (it would add ALOT to every class) Hammer would be a great addition to ranger. Give it a lot of cleave/AOE to shore up our total lack of that.
They had to justify the voltron-like action of the legendary greatswords, similiar so Rune of Trooper (once called Soldier) needed another profession that could use them so Rangers get shouts that aren’t quite shouts.
Have you heard of Healing Signet? If not look it up.
Kay thanks bye bye.
Not saying I agree or disagree, but…
1) They shot that down countless time for Anet Ranger means ‘The Pet Class’.
2) Unfortunatly they’ve (at least for the time being) struck down additional keybinds/control on the pets. The reasoning behind it was about skill floor raising that they wanted to avoid.
3) Also something they aren’t willing to do
4) Too much chance of labeling it an I win button, also could potentially be used to find additional exploitative spots in future encounters (see how almost the entire PvE design of the game at launch and them forgetting the stupid amount of reflection given to guardian)
5) Was also shot down can’t have 2 rangers destroying dungeons or some such reason.
Side note on 3) In finding some way they could do that would be a balance neutral change that would generally have a positive reaction from the community, but who knows,
The pet system is currently a large problem that unless they have changed their stance on will continue to exist only receiving Bandaid fixes as Anet refuses to handle any but the quick fix options.
Slightly offtopic, but with the general removal of water combat (or just it phasing out of sPvP) I think that ranger is kind of owed an additional balance patch after that Aquaman patch a certain someone was promising big improvements for Ranger.
I feel that the pet system originally as designed with archaic (for the standards of the combat system that the game uses) stand and cast format and thus is not very well integrated into the game as a whole, however at this point people have be learning to compensate a bit for it so I guess in the minds of the developers that means the problem solved itself.
But if they do seek to make further improvement they have to contend with if it is too good the the class as an I win button. So as oppose to most resent changes they tend to error on the side of very small steps on ranger.
All and all it could be worse ranger could get the Dhuumfire cycle that the necromancers got (many nerfs to open up an option that then in turn gets nerf and falls away) all for the sake of seeing more of them for a public event.
I really want to state that they merged my general game play (Old title Tag Wars) issue that go beyond just the new daily system and I think that may just be them take the stance of “We don’t want to take a stance so let bury the topic”.
The other thread was not limited to the new daily experience, but the over all open world game play and how that has inforced negative toxic behavior within a mode of play intended for cooperation.
Even being the first to get to an area/mob is not assurance of getting the that bag drop while completing maps on alts I have seen in chat the farmers just going at each other over not getting a drop.
It’s not a problem with the new dailies- it’s a problem with scaling for certain events.
The trouble is that some events scale just fine, such that even with a large group of people everyone has an ample opportunity to contribute enough to get full credit. Others don’t, once you get beyond a certain number of people.
That’s 100% the reason why people get so desperate about tagging. The new daily system has made it worse because it can be ridiculously specific for PvE, but that’s just exposed the real problem . It’s a matter of scaling each event in a way that makes it broad enough to handle a full zone, without making it so aggressively scaled that people start screaming at non-80’s to go away.
I don’t envy the devs that particular balancing act, but it’s arguably the most important element of GW2’s unique drop-in/drop-out, non-trinity, open-world PvE content.
That is exactly why this thread needs to remain separate from the one concerning the new dailies. I would like to add it is not just the scaling, but how the down-scaling of characters does not (especially after the adjustment made during the NPE) does not really help the event scaling as a down-scaled 80 is more potent than a character are or near the level content was designed for.
But I do agree with you that the developers are not going to have an easy time with this.
There are numerous other events that players can participate in. They don’t have to follow the gaggle. The main events that actually have noteworthy rewards feature bosses with more than enough health for everyone to ‘tag’. You can even form a party with the people in that group to get credit. It’s why you always see “LFG” in chat for these events that, for all intents and purposes, don’t actually need a party to complete. The impromptu parties formed during these events are all that is required. Join a party, hit it a few times, get full credit.
Not all events scale very well for the amount of players participating, and ArenaNet already knows this. I’m afraid there will be no dialog opened by ArenaNet on this because it is already known.
No amount of grouping (beside was’t a major part of the games design originally based on you can just play with others without having to party up) will allow much credit with a the instant death at the spawns. The just ‘go do something else’ is just sticking one’s proverbial head in the sand.
As for no dialog I will let those at Anet decide whether or not to respond to this.
If you want to chain yourself to specific events and limit your opportunities be my guest. I’ll go stick my proverbial head in the sand and get my xp/karma/loot/dailies/coin while you waste your time with the gaggle.
How exactly are you contributing to the current discussion. I would not matter if the Maw was not the event in question here and in fact your solution is directly against how the game is intended as you basically are actively trying to avoid other players something that was never part of what Guild Wars 2 should be.
Unless you have something on topic to add I suggest that you start your own thread about your fabulous workaround for dealing with the Tag Wars issue. (I highly doubt you will as that could lead to others in you playing spots.)
Swinging or targeting a spawn point is one way to overcome lag due to the crowds. For instance at Maw there are times I don’t even hear the speech leading up to attacking the totem or even get it’s health bar displayed along the top until it’s already destroyed. Other critters I don’t even see spawning, just get the XP message. This is why players at these events attack empty air in hopes to at least tag because if they wait for those critters to be seen, it’s already too late.
I highly doubt that is the only reasons as they are people swing at the totem before the Escort pre-event has even started.
Your post does make me think about a very important point. Is any of that fun? Is just spamming multi-target (non-projectile) skill in hope of hit something entertaining?
Post your thoughts here: The New Dailies-Feedback welcome. This is the thread she is collecting information off of to give to the Devs.
If this was only an issue within the daily system I would, but this is kind of stuff is running rampant in the general PvE playbase.

The trait shuffling, which has been done many times in the past, Devs have mentioned it’s kind of unrealistic now, since the way traits are acquired in PvE.
I’d like to see >Evasive Arcana, Healing Ripple, Elemental Attunment< these traits becoming baseline, in a reduced form, numbers TBD, and all affected traits could improve the new baseline abilities to current levels.
You do realize that that amount of baselining will basically demand a rebalancing of the nerf kind. It is basically just like the warriors are asking for fast hands baseline (next they will want cleansing ire for no investment). If a trait is so good that you are giving up something to have it then that is making a build choice, but to just hand out those effect for no investment is powercreep in its purest form.
It is just an excuse they are fishing for any nerf they can get thrown at rangers (the elementalists are kind of dominate again in sPvP so they all know the Axe is coming down).
So instead of ‘how can I improve my chosen profession’ it is ‘how can I get the other professions nerfed’.
There have already be a few threads that get taken over/started by that agenda and I think that threads that are basically ‘attack’ another profession have no place in this community.
So a little background on this. I decided to do the PvE dailies first today (January 3, 2015) and so I go over to Wayfarers to get the maw it. So throughout the pre-events people are parked at the spawn points of the enemies aoe/attacking into space basically leading to instant spawn/death. There was also the endless swinging at an untargetable totem (but that has been going on since the head start). This behavior reeks of "so long as I get mine f—k everyone else’.
For a game mode that is (allegedly) based on cooperation this kind of behavior is toxic and in a starting zone no less. I doubt this was the intention of how the game is to work (as there as been differing reward systems in place in the newer areas). I can see this really turning players off from that content and perhaps the entire game as well.
Once the holiday lethargy has waned I would really appreciate some input from Graile (or someone in red) to open dialog about this facet of the game.
