A lot of that is going to depend on how well they balanced the energy system. If skills cost too little for effect then that will be a problem.
Fixing pets will take too much time/manpower so all they will do is waste resources on bandaid patches and ‘low hanging fruit’ bug fixes.
There is a reason we can dodge in the game.
Also keep in mind that there are multiple enemy mobs that have access to stability (and I would assume we will see more of them) and as such this change makes it easier to deal with the mobs as well.
We also have a grand total of no information how many stacks of stability each skill will give and so on.
It is a bit early to decide if it will be good or not in PvE.
There is a good chance when they implement the change mobs will get a different version of stability (either the original one or someother non-removable one). That and this change may be essential for “chanlleging” group content.
Signet of the Hunt is a poorly designed skill, it goes completely against the general death of a thousand cuts/arrows that was basically built into the profession.
look at those traits, WTF!>!>!>!>!>!>!> a minor trait that gives 2.5 seconds of stability every time they do a dodge roll? LOL i can’t even freakin buy stability for the necro. JESUS how can this be possible. SOrry going to destroy the meta and create a rev wvw world.
They are completely changing stability just so a trait like that could be potentially balanced. Time will tell as they will probably drop the stability update on us before the expansion to give the players time to learn how to play with the change in mechanics, and to try to adjust all the stability granting skill/abilities in the game.
Just fishing for nerfs wow.
Funny thing is they keep trying to draw PvE only Players into trying PvP so much they’ve had to add a whole section on the POI cast just for that, Imagine how irrate the PvP community would be if they added section at the end of the ready ups explaining anything about PvE (even if it was just a devs explaining balance changes that would have major effects on the mode even if the changes was generally pvp driven)
3. They’re balancing an entire game, not just PvP. Yes, if they really wanted to drive the eSport home they’d focus balance around PvP and let the other modes “deal with it”, but you can still have respectable balance without making monthly updates. Some would argue balance is already respectable, based on what I’ve seen around here.
Actually the majority of changes are in fact ‘deal with it’ changes all for the sake of conquest spvp, the only one I can think of that are not on ones that had no effect on spvp at all i,e, were not included in the mode.
As for balance frequency I am concern all the increase would do at best would just be a hokey-pokey of which professions are in and which are out.

I would rather see water breathers reworked as separate from the armor system. Where the upgrades are specific for underwater, or if they are make into a costume piece then a mastery line could sever a similar function.
They even admit that it will take them a bit of time to get the existing skills balanced with the change.
The changes are stability will no longer stack duration, but will have stack similar to pve defiance so hard controls will remove a stack. Depending on how boon stealing effect it (losing all stacks from one skill would be painful)
So with the changes coming to Stability how useful do you all think this skill be from the date of the change?
I wonder how many baseline auto attacks skills are going to become 100% projectile finishers.
Turrent are a poorly designed mechanic within the focus of conquest pvp, it does not help that due to them not seeing enough play in the past they were the focus of development attention and just as a Necro about dhummfire to see what the developer’s need for an option to see play can do in the long run.
As a ranger using LB (no fire/air sigil), I consider 5 ranger in a group something REALLY lame. No profession can survive a focus fire of 5 ranger. That being said, only if you live long enough to down them all…
But i hate it when i am solo roaming 1vxX and then a ranger come in and crit you for 10k. Usually its ok because i choose my fight, but ranger are good at ending fun/challenging fight.
PS: Im a LB ranger user…
Do you expect anyone to survive being focused by 5 of any profession?
5 v 5 is too few people.
Whole game engine was designed around 5 v 5 so anything else is kind of bandaid fixes/work arounds.
Continuing is fine but the issue is being able to continue to track the target which means seeing through the stealth.
It isn’t seeing through stealth it just continue they otherwise lose target of the stealthed target means they can not use skills requiring a target until the stealth ends and they reacquire their target.
The only type of gear check system I think the game need is one to identify which skins are being used as sometime you just want to know what a piece of armor is.
What’s wrong with just asking the person who has the skin you like? No reason to be shy.
Sometime they are afk and up until megaserver if felt like my server was the unofficial Portuguese language server and so far all I’ve learned of that language has been guild recruitment phrase and insults not exactly help there.
Rapid fire shouldnt hit through stealth. its a load of bull.
It a channeled skill and all channels skills behave that way, dodge, line of sight or to sum it up learn to play (as much as I hate the use of that term) But opinion could go in either direct it could be said that it is also bull that blocking a sneak attack doesn’t trigger reveal.
The only type of gear check system I think the game need is one to identify which skins are being used as sometime you just want to know what a piece of armor is.
…
That said, I’m starting to see more instances of events with no one calling the event in map chat. …
One of the original appeals of GW2 was the fostering of cooperation between players and the friendly community. But that feeling of cooperation and friendliness has eroded somewhat with the changes to the game over the last year.
It started with trait unlocks that depended on events that were triggered by previous events failing and other players being at cross-purposes. And now the ruined pve daily tasks that herd everyone into the same maps all competing for the same events or boss.
It started well before that once the Farm/Fail to Complete and Champion Farming styles play started to get more popular the community started to go downhill from there.
I kind of want them to release two additional legendary weapons for all, but greatsword as it already has more than the other weapons.
Not worth 6 points.
Not many of the ranger traits really are, most are weak for their placement in the lines.
Would be nice to get some sort of response from Anet on this issue. I noticed that it is more common underwater (thank you bloodtide coast events).
Almost exactly the same as what they said with the April 14 patch, only they have admitted a few new things.
For example trap/spirit rangers don’t get stunbreaks because they ‘can evade so much’…
…except that trap and spirit rangers don’t take sword/dagger…
I’d hope that wasn’t the reasoning behind that or they would remove the stun breaks off of existing skills as rangers evade too much
1. More consideration on all races and genders in armor design
2. Less focus on ‘low hanging fruit’ problem
3. Core design taking account for difference in professions
4.The complete removal of soulbound/soulbinding replace with account bound/account binding.
5. Improved the pet u.i. to allow for naming of all pets.
This thread reminds me of this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGQEAiZJMco
You’d just be back here the day they made that change once the damage lost from the pet was placed back on the ranger.
Which would be waaaaaaaaaaaaay worse. XD Oh my lord.
The only ranger pet thing that needs changed is the “automatic” knock down from the dog. I don’t support 100% passive CCs like that. But yeah, buffed rapid fires would be glorious…
That ‘automatic’ CC is on a 40s cd (that can’t be viewed by the player) and has an activation time of 1 1/4 second if anything that already a pretty high price for knockdown that otherwise not really controllable.
You’d just be back here the day they made that change once the damage lost from the pet was placed back on the ranger.
I would guess there is also a bit of a back log I recall having to report numerous people for weeks that were part of an offensive neo-kitten guild. Then again they pretty much do nothing about non-supported language based verbal abuse, as my home server at one time had a large Brazilian population that seem to enjoy immunity as they stuck to Portuguese.
A Berserker Meta complaint thread by any other name….
-Stygian axe
-Legionnaire Axe
-Flame CleaverTheyre all pretty good, better than Frostfang i’d argue. And a couple more are decent. So i really dont have a problem with Axe skins.
I think when thrown all of them revert to the default iron (or whichever axe ranger used to start with.).
Not to be negative, but I think a lot of that might come from some in company bias towards the greatsword.
There will be a massive number of new players in the expansion, queues are not a problem
Maybe there will be may there won’t be, but will there be enough to support (low-queue) good matches between two very different focused mode.
If I understand it correctly a lot of the issue with the elementalist balancing is the line between garbage and godhood is very thin and so the changes tend to hokey-pokey elementalist in elementalist out.
As with any skin discussion opinions are going to vary. I happen to like the legionnaire axes for my charr warrior, but I use the warden’s on my sylvari ranger.
theeves everywhere
I doubt they want to split of the potential population as that will have an additional negative effect on matchmaking as low queue times are need to keep people playing while bad matches lead to unsatisfied players and for the countless new or pve primary players they want to entice into the mode will quickly decide to not come back.
@ OP, dont use full set’s, mix match armor and you will get a awesome results.
He plays charr heavy, so I’d have to say awesome probably means painful to view clipping and depending on preference limited options.
Here is what I tried with a charr warrior. but 100% of aesthetics are opinion.
So if warrior is suffering at the 5th place what does that say about numbers 6,7 and 8 wouldn’t they need to be brought up first or that 1-5 need toning down to that level?
But the problem is still there. You are rooted with WD, the range is too short and the damage is for 3 foes only and meh.
So this bump actually Is justified. I still don’t know why the ppl still says that axe offhand is a good weapon…
The potential burst of path of scars along with the general bad coefficients on rangers skills.
This might be bias of me, but it kind of feels like projectiles should not proc retaliation with the existence of reflection.
Daily class wins!
I just had a match with 3 warriors in my team. 2 of them clearly not experienced as warrior in PvP (Warrior is class daily atm). People tend to do their daily class wins in ranked queue. I don’t fully understand why they do this, but it’s not forbidden…
=> Please remove the class based daily! Also think about making PvE daily easier. Currently its much more efficient to do the daily in PvP, thats why a lot of players do the daily in PvP, which leads to the toxic PvE vs. PvP environment. The toxic invironment will not help new players to find their way into PvP (In which many are not even interested… but daily…)
Person anecdote, I could say that people tend to do their dailies in practice (team switching as often as possible to assure a win) I don’t play thief in pvp so today (which is also a thief day) I jump into a practice match after the switching settle down it is 5 thieves vs 1 ranger, 2 engineers, 1 thief and a warrior. So personal experience there will vary and because of your particle focus of play you only seeing one perspective.
So, is this intended bug or not? If it is, then fix tooltips. Thanks.
It’s in the definition of invulnerability from the wiki so there you go. Would be a lot of bloat to the tools tips, and I am surprise some of the player base has read them as long as they currently are.
Come on man, for 6 points it’s crap.
To use this trait you have to go x/6/6/x/x or 0/6/2/6/0…
You’ve arguably got enough defense in either of those to not need 20% defense against projectiles…while spamming 1…
Hell, rune of resistance with a signet build is more useful than this…
whoops, I had deleted too much of my post, it was supposed to say, “It’s not crap, but for a grandmaster it’s crap.” and then continue on with the rest of it lol
I personally would much rather see Striders Defense become “You reflect projectiles while evading while a sword, greatsword, or spear is equipped.” it’d be unique, it’d be interesting, and it would fulfill the role of “punish the ranged while you’re melee.”
Still would be crap as a grandmaster trait the whole trait system needs an over haul though as the started as a free form choose any three from the intial design and then were arbitrarily tiered (I highly doubt it was because of any of the rangers trait, but those of other profession) and tinkered around with a bit here and there after.
Just remember there is a limit to progression per day within the custom arena/practice.
How exactly are the rewards forcing you into content you do not enjoy? IF you only want to PvP then do so.
You were warned to use those items/currency prior to the change.
Well one of the earlier shortbow nerf was an ‘animation fix’ as well as to stating that just using crossfire is not a ‘fun’ playstyle. The exact quote is:
“Took a couple of days to get debugging in on this. It is in fact a 40ms difference which equates to about 7% less damage when spamming 1. We made this change because it was creating some animation bugs to leave it where it was. It was also encouraging just spamming 1 which isn’t the most fun gameplay. If our data shows shortly that shortbow is now not effective we can certainly address that, but would do so by improving other skills on that weapon rather than by reintroducing the spam on 1 and the bugs that it was creating.”
So I can honestly call foul here as they designed the shortbow with situationally useful skills and are surprised that people use the auto attack?
We’ve also been asking for pet names save client side so we don’t have to do as much renaming (for those of us that switch frequently) so what the point of length of time asking?
ALL my characters are Asura.. that’s why this hurts!
Russian Penguin.. haha
But animation wise, it just doesn’t make any sense… literally wobbling like a penguin when the skill is used.. Just a really lazy animation job.
After all the custom animation they had to do for that race, I say cut them some slack. Just assume that it is a by-product of the potions or power armor to get them to be able to be a working heavy profession in the first place.
