Why is this the case!?? This is the most frustrating thing I’ve ever experienced in an mmo. I use my pets as primarily support in wvw. I do not want them to go running into a zerg and die. I have them on avoid combat at all times and only use support pets: brown bear and red moa. So example: I’m at 1500 range with my long bow and firing arrows into a zerg when I want to use my F2 remove condition function. My pet is beside me this whole time not attacking. As soon as I press F2 he rushes into the zerg in order to be able to use his F2 SUPPORT ability but dies because of it. Why is this the case?? Makes absolutely no sense and is extremely aggravating.
Yeah, really wish you could could choose a voice from a list. Kind of takes away from that whole unique character thing when everyone from the same gender/race has the same voice.
lolz
Ned StarkNeverwinter is coming
I see what you did thar :P
Lol, good catch!
Ah well if it doesn’t have a wvw equivalent then I will pass. Currently GW2 has the best pvp out there in my opinion. We’ll see how ESO does in the pvp department because I assume it will be similar to wvw as the game directer of ESO was the head of pvp back in DAOC days, I believe.
How will the pvp be in NWO?
I am excited as well. Last time TC faced BG I was really inexperienced but I’ve learned a great deal since then so am eager to face them again.
1. Whether or not they formed super servers the queue should still work correctly.
2. It’s not like a queue is a new gizmo and no one is sure how it should work.
How are they not working correctly?
Despite what Anet says, there were NO WHERE near 100+ people in TCBL when it had a queue. Not. Even. Close.
I do not know what causes this problem, but it seems that it keeps thinking that people are still in WWW when they are not.
.
Also… I wonder why Anet shares alot of information on the game but they never clearly stated exactly how much players there are before the queue comes. Did they ever gave a reason why they don’t tell us how many?
I recall one of the developers said in the wvw question thread that the wvw population cap is dynamic. So if there’s less people playing pve then there is more space for wvw or vice-versa. So say there’s 1,000 players in pve, that could mean only 200 player space for wvw. They basically said the population caps are different day to day, but in all cases the caps are equal for each team per boderlands.
I use a different build for wvw and pve. For pve I max out marksmanship(mainly for trait:active signets affect you on SOS) and wilderness survival for a toughness focused build. For WvW I max out marksmanship and skirmishing to maximize damage potential. In wvw I find that toughness is not needed because if you use GS it’s number 3 ability is more than enough to get out of sticky situations.
Do you use your PvE build in FotM and other dungeons?
Yes. I can get away with running my wvw build in most pve areas but when it comes to dungeons and high level fractals, toughness oriented build is a must.
Never rely on a single ability to compensate for a passive stat like Toughness.
If you read any guide/blog from any the well-respected, highly-talented Guild Wars 2 PvPers, they will all say one thing: Toughness is king in WvW.
As a WvW Roamer, its easy to spot who’s not running with 1700+ Toughness. In the case of Rangers using Greatsword, I’ve seen many who attempt to use 3. While Greatsword 3 is an amazing ability, its also very easy to recognize. Once the ability has been used the target is easy prey and downed before they can use the ability again.
Do not rely on one single ability to survive in WvW.
With that said, there is no such thing (for a Ranger) that is an All-Around PvE/WvW/high-level Fractal build. While you might be able to use the same build in WvW and PvE, 10+ Fractals require exact traits for your exact role. Fractals and PvE are two different games; Fractals and WvW aren’t even in the same league.
Short answer: there is no One Build; at least, not for Rangers. Warriors, maybe, but not us.
I’m running 1,698 toughness right now while maxing out marksmanship and skirmishing. I usually either run 30/30/5/0/5 or 30/25/10/0/5. The latter my toughness would be a little bit over 1700. I also run SOS so that helps toughness a bit as well. This build works wonders for me in wvw. I used to run max toughness with near 2k but it didn’t really make a different in my opinion. The only time I die is when I get careless around a large group of enemies. No amount of toughness will help you when you’re in that kind of situation.

Hopefully ascended armor and weapons when they come have new skins.

Please (as it has been said many times before) let our pets share our AR in fractals. We can actively avoid a lot of agony-dealing attacks but our pets can not.
Also I’d like to bring up again the issue of Pets in the Jade Maw boss fight. Even when dead my pet was targeted three times in a row by Jade Maw. This is very frustrating and always leaves the ranger up for ridicule b/c everyone is wanting to finish the fractal at this point but Maw keeps targeting my non-crystal-holding dead pet.
YES! The jade maw fractal is so frustrating if you have a pet. No perma stow option means even when he’s dead he gets targeted. It’s asinine and opens us to ridicule because of bad mechanics.
Is abyss worth it over midnight ice? I bought the latter for around 7 or 8 gold but have always wondered if I would have been more satisfied with abyss and saving up the 20 or so gold it costs.
It’s reasonable. I feel I can run about without being mauled by Risen ever three steps. The new character models for the Risen are nice to see, too! Much more detailed, and larger in many cases.
Oh, wow I had no idea they added new models. I haven’t really been to Orr that much except recently after the update. I was pretty impressed at those models, very detailed. Interesting knowing they were just added.
In theory, it sounds great, but there are flaws. When you get an elected party together to represent the masses, over time they become corrupt and only look out for their own self-interest. Eventually, they make changes that not only do not benefit the public but sometimes they are actually detrimental to the public they are sworn to represent.
This is….accurate.
I don’t care for spvp 1v1(though if they do it all the better), I care for random dueling in cities, towns and zones. I want to duel my friend for fun on occasion. I want to duel that random person I see in LA who has cool armor. Make it happen anet!
Looks like they fixed this with today’s patch.
Nope they don’t. High level fractals, say good bye to your pets because they pretty much insta-die when hit with agony.
No idea why pets don’t share stats, let alone AR.
aah i see…
thanks for clearing that up… on the other hand in this case LB damage indeed sucks big time… sigh
one should be idiot/afk to take that damage in WvW
… which is very rarely the case…
That’s why you stack it with QZ or pet swap quickness.
the tool tip has all ways said 3/4.
this is a post i maid about a month ago in this thread here
well the 3/4 attack speed would be fine if it indeed was this fast. however it isn’t. the longbow speed is really 1.25 sec cast time.
a simple test is to just find a mob that is obstructed. i did it from a tower wall in EB.
start auto fire with long bow then use healing spring as a timer(30 sec cd). just count the number of shots you get off in that 30 sec. if it was .75 like stated on tool tip you should get 40 shots off. i did it a few times and every time i got 24 shots off and was just starting the 25th when timer on healing spring was up.
So this could either be a simple tool-tip bug or a very serious game-play mechanic altering bug that is gimping our LB. Has Anet ever spoken about this?
I think anet is really trying to get this game to be an esports, at least the spvp side. I am okay with that but I don’t think they should force it. Example in another game: PlanetSide 2 developers just signed a contract with MLG to try and get that game popular in the esports world. This is going to fail horribly because PS2 isn’t set up as an esports game, let alone a tactical game that requires thinking. I am fine with GW2 spvp trying to be an esport but don’t force it. It will come if it has the potential.
I don’t understand why Anet is making this so hard on themselves.
The only thing they need to make this game an e sport is an ingame ladder, featuring detailed warzone statistic. The moment that thing is up you can bet your kitten every one will be competing like crazy trying to top the ladder for “the highest damage dealt per match”.
An ingame ladder. Honestly it really is that simple.
I think they are doing that. I remember one of the developers said during the twitch live stream that they are working on leaderboards and ladders, competitive stuff like that to facilitate esports.
Yeah that makes sense. I know in some other online games developers have stated they cannot differentiate between certain third party programs. They all look the same to them so they just ban all of them. Similar to how that injection thing that makes your colors look better. That’s not game-play changing at all yet it is still a bannable offense.
So it said 1 1/4 previous to this update? Why would they change it to 3/4 if it in fact not the correct time? If so, this is probably placebo effect at work.
Ah I see. I know it happens for selling so I just assumed for buying as well. Really not sure macro is bannable. Hope someone else chimes in.
It was a mistake making the skin like that. It wasn’t intentional so they reverted it.
Probably. You get errors anyway if you sell/buy too many items in a short amount of time.
Does Lightning Reflexes not even work properly either? If it does manage to break stun, it just makes me do kitten roll on the spot and I’m still stuck there for like 3/4 of a second
Lighning reflexes does not break immobilize only stuns. If you want imobilize removal take renewal as your break instead, you will lose the dodge though.
I would say your correct on this but the theif’s “roll for initative” Only states it breaks stuns yet people use it you get out of entangle that immobilizes. Also Lightning reflexes will sometimes work and break you out of immobs and evade backwards. It just isnt consistant, along with Quick shot.

Roll for Ini removes immobilize.
EXPLOIT/BUG REPORT: Stowing pets cancels their cooldowns allowing you to use their skills even though the skill looks like it is still on cooldown.
I can confirm this. I just noticed this a few minutes ago.
Scenario: I have my bear on avoid combat. I am firing off at an enemy and I press F2 to get my bear to activate his skill. He only activates it after getting near the enemy and after finishing skill he will proceed to attack the enemy even though I have him on passive and never told him to attack. I have also tested this out while his F2 was on cooldown and even pressing it then will make him attack. F1 should be the sole attack button so I do not know why this is the case. Also, F2 shouldn’t have to be activated by pet being near an enemy. It should activate when pressed regardless of position.
I agree. If they just fix spirits and make them viable it would go a long way to giving us more build diversity.
Clicking the ability again will cancel it and triggering a short cooldown.
Okay this answers my question. Didn’t really read it before. Just tested it out and this is the case. Pressing F2 more than once will cancel it out giving the short cooldown. Thanks.
He activates it once he’s on top of an enemy.
Clicking the ability again will cancel it and triggering a short cooldown.
Why? It’s a support skill. He shouldn’t have to be close to an enemy to activate it.
I just did some testing and it appears that it doesn’t get activated right after pet swap. So say I have my bear out, quick swap to red moa and spam F2 to get his support ability ASAP. Well it doesn’t activate for some reason soon after pet swap so ends up wiht my repeatedly pressing F2 with a super short cooldown until it finally activates. Why is this?
I think anet is really trying to get this game to be an esports, at least the spvp side. I am okay with that but I don’t think they should force it. Example in another game: PlanetSide 2 developers just signed a contract with MLG to try and get that game popular in the esports world. It will come if it has the potential.
But to your other points, there is a low amount of weapons skills in the game because it is just easier to balance that way and of course there is a counter to everything, so that may be why you are thinking that. But yeah the end-game is set up to be pvp so it makes sense it is a major focus of combat.

I’m not sure but I’ve practiced on training dummies at various distances and all my hits seemed to match up with the LB’s description. Number 2 attack range anywhere from 4000-12000 total for me, depending on build.
Oftentimes my Red Moa’s F2 skill: furious screech does not activate. I will press F2 but instead of activating I get a mini cool-down until I can try again. Sometimes it will take 4 or 5 tries before it works. Anyone know why this is? I first thought I had to be combat for it to activate but I don’t think that is the case because it is a support skill. Is this a bug anyone else has encountered?
I’ve wondered why this feature isn’t in the game. My guess is that it’s more complicated than we think to implement. Hopefully they are working on it though.
Then everyone would have different daily times. I think that would be confusing and hard to implement. I agree that they don’t really make it clear that 7pm is when the server resets. I only found that out after I reached 80.
Agreed, I sometimes aim at the floor for no reason at all…
This. Very frustrating.
They need to look at how other games handle the ranger class. I believe in WOW the hunter class has an option to stow pet in exchange for a slight stat boost.
So after the latest patch I noticed I am getting cool-downs when swapping skills out of combat that were already ready to cast. For example, My number 7 slot was ready to cast but I was out of combat so I decided to swap it out for Quickening Zepher. QZ is usually a 47 second (traited) cool-down for me but for some reason it had a 90 second CD after swapping it. Anyone know why this is?
I also get a 9 or 10 second cool-down swapping skills as well. Not sure what determines these times. To be clear this doesn’t happen all the time, just sometimes and I’m not sure what causes it.
You can get a quiver but only through the treadmill dungeon with over 5000 ectos involved.
????
Quivers take 50 ectos, the only thing you need from a dungeon is 1 vial of condensed mists essence, which drops from fractal level 1.
Mystic Forge ingredients
250 T6 mats (specific mat depends on the stats you want)
50 Glob of Ectoplasm
240 Philosopher’s Stone
1 Vial of Condensed Mists EssenceNot cheap, but doable. I’m forging my quiver today.
I’m having trouble getting powerful bloods. I need 250 of them yet I’ve only had 2 drop in the past week or do. I suppose I could buy them from the TP but I’d be looking at around 60 gold:(
Are you saying the FOV is larger now?
its been asked many times. but no reply from anet.
in their manifesto they said, it would be 500 people, which anybody who plays wvw can tell is bollocks.
more like 300 people or less and that too in the whole map, not in wvw battle.we have had aprox 50vs50vs50 in a battle in EU tier 1 , and the game crashed for many and lagged really badly for the rest.
I wouldn’t say bollocks, it’s just hard to tell with the massive amounts of culling.
Have spvps gotten a stat boost since asended has been released?
I’m sure they will merge eventually but not now. Maybe in another year.
I really hate the new affinity culling system. It received pages upon pages of negative feedback during the short trial yet they still implement it. smh.
I think thieves being able to stealth finish is the most aggravating mechanic in the game, makes me rage every time it happens.
I hope they include a new profession, new armor, skills, and wvw things because if it is just a new story-line I will be hard pressed to buy it.
I would like to know this as well.
So this isn’t a time sensitive event right? I can go and do the live storyline anytime I want?
… which is very rarely the case…
