Same, my asurans head only turns in combat. When I have my weapons stowed he will not turn. I assume this is a known problem for a while now. Are the devs working on fixing this?

So it just happened again to me. Here’s what happened: I was defending a keep, all my skills were on cool-down. I had SOH, SOW, SOS, and RAO slotted, all on cool-down. I get knocked down. A teammate revives me. I wait for SOH to cool-down then immediately swap it out for QZ. Bam, hit with a ninja cool-down(I believe it was around 50 seconds this time). One thing to note: It happens after combat and maybe the downed state has something to do with it?

I don’t think you understand the dynamic here. It is not simply the availability of bandwidth that is the issue … it is the COST of that bandwidth for ANet and the COST of the support for the servers required to process it all. There are thousands of players who already have far greater bandwidth than would be necessary to run GW2 without limit … the problem is what it would take for ANet itself to service them.

It isn’t the technology that is holding back anything … it is the economics (which of course includes flawed initial decisions made by ANet on things such as the game engine itself) and the contortions required to deal with it that are causing the problems.

Anet already said they received the go-ahead to upgrade all of their server bandwidth so now all that is left is to optimize code so min spec users and min spec internet users can still handle the game with culling turned off. The game is highly successful so it makes sense they have the budget to throw money at their servers in order to handle no culling.

This has happened to me a bunch of times. My character will also freeze after using seige, sometimes even when I’m just walking not even in combat. Sometimes it will be really long, like 30+ seconds where I just can’t do anything to break it. Thought it was my keyboard at first: k60 which is known to have sticky (keys) but I’ve heard of others having similar issues so I don’t think it’s me.

I’ve never been excluded from a group for being a ranger. The only time I’ve seen rangers getting kicked is when there were 3 of them in a dungeon party. The reason he gave was “afraid of low dps output.”

I cannot replicate this behavior. Can you please elaborate on how you triggered the problem?

I just had QZ in the “7” slot and switched it to SOH several times with no issues. Did you do anything else to make it happen?

I’m not sure exactly how to replicate it but it seems to usually happen after combat. It is not just limited to those skills either, was just using them as an example.

Really like the gs buffs. Nice being able to move and block. Pet stickiness improvement helps a lot with my bear. Arrow velocity buff helped as well but still not anywhere close to where it should be. Still getting tons of obstruction when the arrow should clearly be hitting.

So example: I am out of combat with my number 7 skill QZ ready to cast. I decide to switch it out for SOH for faster movement speed. As soon as I do this I am hit with a ninja cool-down ranging anywhere from 20 to sometimes even 90 seconds. I have no idea why this is happening. Is this a bug or an intended feature? What determines the cool-down?

Any way to turn off the world and map completion ui in wvw? It’s not a problem on most borderlands but the left most one it is extremely annoying. It gets in the way when viewing parts of the map. To clarify, I am talking about the big blue bars when you view the world map.

I agree. Though my guild requires 100% representation so it’s not really a problem for me or my guild mates.

To your other points, they have said they will have guild halls in the future and more recently have said they are going to be working on guild missions so those are definitely good signs.

I go 30/30/5/0/5 for wvw. Sometimes I will go 30/25/10/0/5 for reduced cooldown on QZ but lately I have been finding it’s not really worth it. The 6 second invuln is great on SOS with active signet affects you. All my armor is power, precision, toughness with 6/6 rune of earth. My survivability is fantastic with LB/GS and all my accessories, rings, amulets back etc. are power precison, crit. My LB is power, prec, crit as well with signet of accuracy and my GS is power toughness vitality with sigil of bloodlust. Great dps at range especially with eagle eye and for close encounters switch to gs for a bit of toughness vitality boost.

Still can’t believe we don’t have a proper Queue system this far into the game.

Nothing on page 1 is relevant any more.

Let’s face it. Mods love merging multiple threads into one so it’s practically certain they will eventually merge the numerous queue threads popping up into this one. He just did them a favor by bumping it.

IDK, my favorite attack right now is Torch/Axe/LB – lay down a bonfire, hit them with a flaming bleed and switch to LB for flaming arrows. I rarely use my SB at all.

You can light your arrows on fire with the torch? That’s awesome. I never even glanced at the torch because it just seemed boring to me but now I will have to check it out. Currently I am using GS/lb but torch+axe/lb sounds like it could be fun then.

I am having an amazing time in wvw right now and I feel everyone having personal abilities has the potential to disrupt that. What do you think some of them may be? Faster run speed? Were abilities in daoc? How did they work there?

Hi guys. Lately, I’ve been noticing my character having odd orientations while walking or standing on hilly terrain. To be fair, I’ve noticed this for a few months now but only recently has it been occurring more frequently. Basically, my character has an unrealistic angle while on uneven terrain. After a few seconds he will correct himself and stand in a more believable angel. I realize this may be kind of hard to explain or picture so I’ve attached some photos:

I’ll humor you anyway. Because they didn’t think to implement a position count, and timers are inaccurate by default as they are based on average data from previous queue times. This isn’t some huge conspiracy to hide a flawed truth. Nice attempt at trolling though “bro”.

Timers may be inaccurate but position counts are not. Seemingly a very simple thing to implement yet they have not.

they lowered the map population to ~ 50. thereby fixing culling so there wont be more than 20-30 at any given time in any zerg.

I’m really starting to think it’s not a bug. They must have significantly decreased the population cap because we were getting hour long queues immediately after reset. Actually, it may even be a combination of the two. Bugs+population cap decrease=not a good combo with ESO right around the corner.

I equate rangers with bows and arrows. I wouldn’t be opposed to allowing us to use rifles but I personally wouldn’t use them.

I don’t know. This whole issue is disturbing. Why wasn’t there queue timers and position notifications from the start? I have a feeling there is some deep, innate issue with how they have their system set up that disallows these things. It’s what, 6 months after release now and no queue timers? These are common quality of life features that every online game like this has. Why isn’t it in place here? I don’t know but if it doesn’t get fixed soon ESO is right around the corner.

No, I would just alt-tab do something else while periodically checking it every 5 minutes. There’s no reason not to show us our queue position.

I came here after the orbs were taken away but as a suggestion, instead of them giving a significant player stat boost how about giving a stat boost to bases? So if you own the orbs all your bases become a little bit easier to defend and harder for the enemies to take. So maybe like increased armor/health for walls and gates. I could see that being fun because it would require more strategy on the attackers side to take a base.

TC EB had a 3 hour long queue tonight. At the 2 and a half mark I looked over at the map and we didn’t own a SINGLE base. There is definitely something not right with the queue system. Why else wouldn’t they allow us to see queue positions or give estimated times? The mechanics are not right and Anet needs to look at it because it is a huge turn off for many wvw’ers.

Please no. I know the up-leveling system is already a huge turn-off to many potential players. Progression should be earned and rewarded. It shouldn’t be handed to you on a silver plate.

Since the last update I’ve noticed older zones are becoming quite populated. Especially in the starter zones, like Queensdale. I am on TC though so it could be different for other servers. You can always guest though if you feel your server is underpopulated.

So I was reading a GW2 reddit thread and some comments stated that they balance spvp separately from wvw/pve. I seem to recall a developer stating that they do not want us to get used to a certain play-style, say in spvp only for us to have to throw that knowledge out if we want to play wvw, though I could be mistaken. So when they do balance changes are they the same for pve, wvw, and spvp or are some different than others?

I don’t think so. Personally I don’t like it. Seems like a wasted utility slot. I much prefer skirmishing (I believe it is master) trait that gives chance to bleed on critical hit. I have a fairly high crit chance and bleeds go off very frequently for me.

Rangers are a great class.
