Don’t worry too much about where you allocate you trait points. It’s pretty cheap to re-spec so feel free to try out any combination that you think suits your play-style. Stats are exactly what they sound like: power-how much damage you do, vitality-health, toughness-how much damage you can take, etc. Condition damage I think is how effective your condition skills are. I could be wrong though. Also, be sure to check out the long bow and signet of the hunt because on Dec. 14th it has been confirmed we will be getting buffs on at least those things. You will better be able to appreciate any changes AN makes.

Next gw2 Expansion Class?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BroScientist.9875

BroScientist.9875

This may be a bit off topic but does anyone have an idea how future expansions are going to work? I can understand them adding a new profession, because they did so in the previous Guild Wars 1 expansions and it wouldn’t detract from those who choose not to buy said expansion. An additional personal story campaign is an obvious element that they will undoubtedly include. But what about new wvw maps? New pvp maps? New game modes. More weapons, more skill-sets,better armor, more utilities, etc. Wouldn’t that detract from those who choose not to buy the expansions? Wouldn’t it fracture the community a bit? Possibly give an advantage to those who buy?Thoughts?

I actually like the use of the word “kitten.” It gives the forums and game character in my opinion. I like kittens and I don’t mind if AN substitutes our curse words with it.

BroScientist.9875

US servers are very full, Arenanet needs to add some

And please, stop repeating disinformation:

“Full” means currently logged in players for that world, not accounts registered or anything else.

Source? Because judging by the dev post linked above, I think server populations are reported by the number of accounts currently residing there, regardless of whether they are logged in or not.

I wish we could do server cleaning

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Are the server populations reported by number of accounts or by people actually playing? If it’s the latter then I don’t see why any server cleaning would need to be done. If it’s the former, well then that just doesn’t make sense.

Completed story a few days ago, just realized I have a victory pact token in my inventory that someone said you can trade in for a “unique skin” or something? Thing is, I went to Fort Trinity and asked in map chat how I trade it in, and someone responded saying “I have to make another character” because the only way to trade it in is during the celebration instance. I already finished that and moved on. Is there anyway I can trade it in or am I out of luck? If so, I find it unfair because I never got a letter saying what to do. How was I supposed to know?

PlanetSide 2 actually has this exact same problem. You only render a certain number of players in your vicinity and anyone over that limit you just can’t see. How do WvW bonuses work?

in WvW

Posted by: BroScientist.9875

BroScientist.9875

The only gripe I have about the bonuses is that the people who get them do not benefit from them.

The people who have to constantly WvW spend time and money in WvW and do not PvE often. Those that do PvE never help WvW.

To gain higher points so that the benefits get better, people have to sacrifice time to WvW. On Servers like FoW where there is a enormous population that do only PvE and reap the benefits of WvW folks efforts is quite sickening.

Absolutely ridiculous way they have designed the bonuses. Do WvW and get no rewards to get bonuses for people who do not help you….. yeah that sounds about right.

So wvw bonuses only affect pve? They don’t affect anyone playing wvw?

I meant significantly reduce it in relation to what it COULD be if it is turned on. I imagine if it’s implemented, trolls/or anyone really can easily whisper to the opposing team whatever the commander is relaying at a whim. I think this possible game breaking mechanic is not worth the features.

That goes both ways though, anything said over it can as well be false information.

Forums. If we are open to talking to enemies in W3, You will have a lot of Nonsense in chat. You would have chat spam. And believe it or not, you will have people shouting out positions/strategies/Insults/and maybe random “GG’s” or “Nice fight” Imo it is fine the way it it. Id rather see the random /bow /wave even /laugh.

This would depend on how ArenaNet implements it. If it is a battle-ground wide chat mode that everyone sees, then yes, I would agree with you. If they implement a /yell chat like I’ve explained above^ then you would only be able to communicate with enemies in your surrounding vicinity. There would be much less spam that way.

Trash talking is a healthy aspect of any online game. It promotes server loyalty, bolsters relationships, memorable moments, etc. I was deeply saddened when I found out you couldn’t talk to enemies in WvWvW. Look at PlanetSide 2, the devs said they actually want to promote trash talking. You can use /yell chat to talk to anyone in the surrounding areas, regardless of faction. They’ve implemented it extremely well and I don’t know anyone that is not in favor of it. ArenaNet needs to implement this if they want to see WvWvW flourish.

Weird Alarmtype Noise proceeded by Game Crash

BroScientist.9875

I’ve recently started to play WvWvW more now that I’m level 80 and every time I am in a huge zerg for more than 15 minutes or so, I start to hear this really weird alarm type noise. The game noise shuts off at this point so all I am hearing is the alarm. The alarm sounds constantly every 2 or 3 seconds. The last case of this happening caused the alarm to sound much more rapidly-like every half second and then right after my game proceeded to crash. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I’m pretty sure it’s not my hardware as although my i7920 is overclocked to 4ghz but judging from tests I’ve run- it is stable plus temps never go past 60 Celsius. Also, the game crashes, not my computer. I can still alt-cont-delete to get to my desktop. Any idea what this is?

Second, pets are the Ranger class mechanic. It’s not like the game or any of the written material at any point leads you astray or suggests otherwise, so if you willfully chose the Ranger class knowing that you don’t like playing a pet class… I’m not really sure what say.

Auto Attack Bug?

in Ranger

Posted by: BroScientist.9875

BroScientist.9875

My longbow range is 1500 and it seems when I am at the very end of this range I have to spam number 1 in order to keep attacking. When I move closer the auto attack kicks in. This is very annoying and it seems to mostly happen when I am far away, yet still within range. It also happens at other seemingly random times. I have noticed it happens with the short bow as well. Has anyone else noticed this?

And also while I am creating a thread I may as well ask about another issue I have. When I equip any dagger, the first 3 skills are completely grayed out rendering the weapon useless. I can see skills 4 and 5 but they are darkened and I am unable to use them. Does anyone know why this is?

Fourteen days ago these forums where largely positive and yes, you had interesting little threads about Quaggans and Skritt and Screenshots, because people where happy and wanted to share.
Fast forward to today- the reason why all these threads are being created is because it is the only thing on every player’s mind, it affects the whole community the game-world, map chat and the future of a game lots of people love and don’t want to see fail.

So yes, it is understandable that it is what everyone want’s to talk about.

Once we have clarity- then it will be time to make quite little threads about Quaggans.
Until then not so much.

The only thing this game has going for it is the shiny graphics. ArenaNet really needs to take advice from PlanetSide 2 developers. They frequently make videos talking about current/future plans, post on the official forums+reddit, and actually make changes based on player feed back. In fact, I was just watching a developer interview and one of them specifically said they are NOT going to focus on pumping out new stupid holiday content but instead work on squaring away as many bugs as they can to please their player base. Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGUhSuhiJa0&feature=youtu.be (around 16 min)

I guess you haven’t seen the media or community sections or the forums or anything like that.

To say ANET is not showing you whats ahead or giving you updates or anything of that matter is absurd. This MMO has updated players more then any MMO to date AND has put out more fixes faster then any MMO. Go look at the wiki and see how many times they have patched and patched. Unlike that other MMO that leaves things broken for months and years, ANET has done a great job with keeping up with fixes AND keeping us informed.

And sorry, player feedback is NOT always right. Any game maker that does that is going to have a short existence.

That “other MMO” hasn’t even launched yet…

Although I do see you’re point on how developers can’t implement player feedback carelessly without thought. It’s just that when the MAJORITY of the forum’s users are all complaining about specific things in the game, that at the VERY LEAST deserves an intelligent response from the dev. team explaining their stance on the issue, none of which I have seen here in regards to the weekend fiasco+ascended+balancing issues.

How is a convenient patch process one that give you TWO minutes notice and boots you out of game regardless of what you were doing or how important it was.

Because that’s when I went to cure my spastic kitten. How did ANet even know I had to go?

Because they’re such an awesome development team who actually listens to player feed-back and adjusts accordingly, not to mention sticks to their manifesto?
