I believe it’s ok for asuras and charr not to have boobs, I mean they’re not human why would they have human-like breasts.
But from that point of view one could wonder why do sylvari have boobs though… mysteries of life? who knows xD
sylvaris were created on the image of humans, that’s the reason.
and asuras have other things they find “sexy” on a mate… like the ears. but you (TC) are a human, you want boobs. not every race has to be a human reskin.
then again, this thread is rather pointless, there’s no way ANet would add boobs to asuras just because people asked for it.
But…it’s almost summer here =(
same here lol.
but it’s winter for tyria.
and i’d rather just wait and see what they have in store for us on wintersday. halloween sure didn’t disappoint.
Why no love for largos?
because they’re underwater butterflies with arab names and russian accents. i guess :P
plus, they look like something out of WoW, for some reason.
HEY! what’s wrong with arabs now?
nothing, but it’s the combination of odd peculiarities (like i said, arab names but russian accents) that make them interesting, or dislikable, depending on who you ask.
i’m not particularly a fan of them, but mostly because of the WoW vibe i get from their look. i’m pretty sure they’ll play a major role when we fight Bubbles though.
You’ve got a point Bruno (well, three, but you know what i mean =p). Though i thought that most of the races that were not corrupted by jormag left, including most of the kodan. I can’t really imagine many kodan left near Jormag, but i supposed the shiverpeaks is bigger than i think it is.
the kodan don’t live on the shiverpeaks per se, they live in the ocean, on their giant iceberg city ship things. they ran away from jormag’s influence, which spreads much further than just the shiverpeaks themselves (just like zhaitan’s influence can be seen as far as the gendarran fields)
aaahhh, thanks for the correction!

your reason to nerf dungeons to the point they’re soloable is “i might want to go to the bathroom, and i can’t tell the party to wait a minute”?
what kind of forums do you visit where you see discussions about asura boobs all the time?
I love the translation!
I saw those posters yesterday while wandering in Lion’s Arch and I was hoping for someone transleting them!I’m so excited about this new event. Did you see there are some wood signs on the shore near the whales? I’d like to know what’s written on them. There’s a monster (like a big crab) chasing a little man running away.
I think they are promosing us big vacations in a paradise place and then we’ll find out there’s a big monster waiting for us!
the giant crab one is pretty funny, let me see if i can find the translation…

that is epic! thanks for translating that. Can’t wait to see the new area. I’m working hard on making my main toon lvl 80 for the release of the new area, @ lvl 70 right now, 10 more to go…
Pretty sure the zone upscales you to 80.
How come it would up-scale you? Is it not a PVE zone?
they said the event (and the island) will scale everyone to 80 so you don’t miss it. the island itself isn’t an addition to endgame, but some of its features (like the new dungeon type they’re introducing) are.
the island, from what i got, will become a hub for a lot of new content they’ll add, with plenty of activities and “fun stuff” to do.
^ norns can’t wear armor and wield weapons in their bear form, nor are they polar bears in bear form.

“stealth is a core mechanic behind the thief class”
“nerf stealth so it doesn’t work anymore”
you just sound like a sore loser now.
stealth “trivializes” stomping much less than stability or immunity, which have no counters to. meanwhile, stealth can still be damaged. i’d know, i’ve killed plenty of people that tried to stealth away (and been killed while in stealth). but hey, you played 5 minutes of thief on random arenas and you die a lot to thieves, that must mean the problem is the class!
(edited by BrunoBRS.5178)
Kodans are not likely to make it due to their nature and lack of a capital city. They run around in tribes and the biggest city they have is half the size of shaemoore. Currently, their models don’t vary in the slightest between individual kodan and the only physical variations are female kodan have their chests covered, and the Voice that has black lines on her face. That’s it. Plus, they only reside in the north, making them very difficult to travel outside in the world. The only exception is one kodan who lost his entire tribe and traveled to lions arch. the rest are in the shiverpeaks.
the far shiverpeaks, where jormag resides, haven’t been explored yet. a lot of the kodan fleet might still be there. their ship cities are huge, i can see them making a particularly big one (or an entire fleet) into a city.
and with racial expansions, come story expansions. they could easily make it so the kodans are finally reaching tyria in a larger scale. and with their view that they must teach everyone and restore the balance, it’s not hard to imagine a kodan adventuring around.
and models don’t mean anything. all largos look about the same, all tengus are exactly the same. with the coming of an expansion, they would obviously improve that.
I dont even use dodge as much as i would like to in pve. Its alot of multi tasking – while learning the controls and throwing off my guardian skills all at same time, which is much for me to handle. i would use the dodge mechanic if controls was much simpler for me. >_<
map/bind dodge to the middle mouse button, or another easy to reach button. takes a while to get used to, but it’ll be a huge improvement.
There’s a lot of ways to fortify a finisher, why remove this one? Guardians can throw their troll bubble over people or use stability to finish people guaranteeing. You can still teleport away, hit or aoe thieves in stealth. You and your allies need to just pay attention better. Thief is also the most fragile class in the entire game and are 100% wide open during finisher. Most of the time people just aren’t smart enough to realized I’m doing a stealth finisher and are sitting there regening or rezzing player instead of swinging at me when they just saw me use stealth.
Again, not the issue.
People need to learn reading comprehension before replying to a post unfortunately.
if by “people” you mean “Taemek”, then you’re correct.
every class has a way to trick the downed player and stomp safely. thieves use stealth. mesmers press F4 and gain 4 seconds of immunity. guardians have a ton of access to aegis, stability, and other blocks. and so on.
that’s all there is to it, but you keep trying to make it sound like thieves have some unfair advantage over others. the problem is that you’re thinking of one on one, thief VS downed player scenarios, when you should be looking at group fights, and how the stealth works to provide a safe stomp VS other safe stomp skills.
yeah, it’s a teaser for the new update. same for the whales on the beach, the giant monster warnings, the ships, the absurd amount of crabs they put throughout all of lion’s arch, and that house with an asura gate just after the docks in claw island portage.
my bet is that the place will be a tropical resort of sorts, with a pirate themed twist.
i just rubbed my character’s face against the door until i got the points of interest. worked on all of them.
they’re the best looking weapons in the game, IMO, and there are are flavors for everyone. big, wide ones, sleek ones, curved ones…
that sounds so wrong.
Each racial armor has 3 different sets.
There are 7 different crafted armor sets.
There are 8 different dungeon armor sets.
There is 1 karma armor set. That is 19 different sets of amror you have available to you.
Most of the armor sets mix and match quite nicely too.
there’s a lot more armor than you’re counting. there are actually more than 30 sets to choose from.
here are some i think are good for engineers (remembering that mix and match makes for the best sets)

dwarves are all dead. good riddance.
the few that aren’t dead have been rocks for the past 250 years, so they’re a dead race, just waiting for erosion to do its job.
^ have one handed claws, and all your attacks are just punches. have two handed claws, and you have a lot more variety of movement. remember that the thief is the only profession with a “dual skill” mechanic, so a one handed claw wouldn’t allow even for something as basic as a one-two punch.
You guys keep splashing skills around like they are instant reuse, they aren’t.
Stealth can be reused every 5 seconds, none of these skills can. If you spec for ini gain, you can stealth every 3 seconds. Start comparing apples to oranges or don’t compare at all, some of those skills you are trying to justify this with have x mins reuse.
Again, none of your examples or arguments hold any water.
Fact is, stealth gives an advantage no other class has, end of story.
funny, because from where i stand, your argument doesn’t hold any water, and i see plenty of people backing me too. and considering the devs haven’t done anything regarding it since BWE1, i assume they agree with me too.
different perspectives, maybe? or maybe you just don’t realize that what you’re saying makes no sense? i mean, you have yet to answer the questions i asked.
of course they have a longer recharge, they make your character immune to all damage, whereas a thief can be downed by a single lava font, for example (and eles usually spec into dropping lava fonts when downed, what a coincidence).
where the hell did you even get those statistics?
then again, 60% of statistics are made up, i shouldn’t be surprised.
and click to move wouldn’t work.
skritt aren’t happening. skritt behavior is very hive-minded, they are rather useless on their own.
kodan and tengu i can back though. ESPECIALLY kodan. i want a kodan warrior so much. i just love their design, their culture, their philosophy, their architecture, everything.
Every MMO i’ve played limits player view distance. Maybe its a tech thing?
it’s a tech thing to manage lag, which is why i sugested a slider. that way people with better connections could risk, if they so wanted, to see more players at once.
but there is definitely a bug with the current system, because even if you’re not particularly close to many players, they will still only ‘spawn’ after 3 seconds of being right next to you.
so where do i discuss moderation issues? the forums' email certainly doesn't reply

^ that’s the email i’m referring to in my title and first paragraph.
they just won’t reply, even if it’s to say “well THIS is the reason X happened, and we stand by it”.
it’s really discouraging to post on an environment like this, where you can be suspended at random, moderated wrongfully, and the people in charge just ignore you.
only race i want to play as but can’t are the kodan. i wuv me some kodan.
eh, there are a few.
how would karma be a weapon?
and if they do add claws, it’ll have to be two handed. nothing is sillier than the idea of “claw/shield”, or “claw/anything that isn’t another claw”.
dervishes aren’t happening. dervishes revolve around the human gods. this would bring a racial issue, because no charr or norn would worship the human gods.
mounts i have discussed and disagreed with to hell and back, so i’ll just ignore it.
and that’s all i really bothered reading.
they should just add a slider. that way you’re risking lag and performance at your own risk.
the worst thing is when it happens to NPCs. i’ve had it happen in a dungeon, A DUNGEON. an area that’s supposed to be instanced and take in consideration that only 5 people will be in there.
on the CoE submarine path, when you find the inquest being attacked by minions, if you walk to the end of the room, a bunch of dead bodies will spawn, and of course, they’ll all do the death animation and sound, as if they had just died.
^ that’s likely just coincidence, and you said “most”. “most” isn’t “all”. you can’t make a case with “most”.
Killing like 5 mobs to unlock the next skill is not really grinding, You would have hated playing GW1 unlocking skills on there was harder, took lots of time even endgame areas to finish a build, and! it cost a lot of money after so many skills. They made it so kitten easy on GW2. Thinking about it… They made it to easy.
GW1 didn’t even need skill points. by the time you cared enough to spend them, you’d have 100+. the real issue was the money, but 8plat for 7 skills + signet of capture, then 20 minutes to get to the boss, kill, and steal, is pretty easy.
that’s assuming you weren’t going to use PvE skills, which were pretty much free.
unlocking them at higher levels makes it go faster. In fact after a certain level a single kill will unlock each skill.
yeah, but before you get to that level, you have to grind for weapon skills, or be severely kittened.
really?
i played my elementalist with only fire attunement until i was like level 25 >.< and didn’t feel crippled or whatever. so its possible! to wait til later to unlock the other attunement skills.
if you want to play with daggers, you’ll be switching attunements every other second.
not to mention, the ele is designed around the ability to switch attunements, you’re far more effective when doing so.
snip
ok, just tell me one thing. two things, actually.
what is the difference between a thief’s stealth, a guardian’s stand your ground (AoE stability + guardian’s free aegis), an ele’s armor of earth, and a warrior’s endure pain?
what difference does being able to target them make when they can’t be damaged or CC’d?
i just want you to answer those two questions. don’t go off on a tangent about not being fair to the downed player to not see the enemy, answer the questions. if you answer those questions and somehow make the answer come out as “stealth is unfair, the other classes’ options are not”, then you might have a point. but you have to answer the questions. because those are the questions the devs would ask before deciding if this is a valid suggestion or not.

@Mystic Starfish, I know but the apparently for the dungeon their putting in for this event the deeper you go the harder it gets, I wona be able to get a far as possible, also there will most likely be alot of ‘LF lvl 80’s only’ for this dungeon.
the dungeon itself will probably be for lv80s only, but that doesn’t mean that all of the update is about that dungeon.
so where do i discuss moderation issues? the forums' email certainly doesn't reply

i’ve been waiting for half a week for a clarification on a suspension that came out of nowhere, saying that i had accumulated too many infraction points without ever being infracted before.
and now i’m getting randomly infracted for posts that have nothing to be infracted for. i’ve been moderated for posting off-topic while actually replying to the topic in discussion, or moderated for making a joke because “it doesn’t provide meaningful contribution”.
what’s worse is that there is no way from knowing if the infraction is considered severe or not. being wrongfully accused of posting off topic carries the same weight as bullying someone, as far as the user’s concerned.
this is the closest to a “forum support” this place has, which is why i’m posting here, but you should really consider opening a support subforum for the forum itself. you can’t handle the community without a place for the community to inquire the reasons of their punishments, especially when they’re seemingly random.
oh, and one last thing.
“Be happy that your Thief is as powerful as it is for a burst class, it doesn’t need this as well. As others have pointed out, if they remove the ability for a Thief to stealth stomp, they have alternative ways of finishing someone in 1 second anyways.” no they can’t. they spent all their resources taking you down (remember? thief has energy management and the pool is shared by both sets), so what little initiative he has left he’d rather save for the next battle than waste on a downed player, because no one likes being a sitting duck for 20 seconds in a PvP match.
just try playing a thief and see how long you fare by following all this handy advice you’re getting. pretend there’s no way to stealth yourself when stomping, try killing enemies by attacking them when they’re downed. see how you’ll watch that same enemy dance over your dead body instead.
Well, you must be the only thief who plays with a build that does not return iniative…….every pvp encounter I have been involved in regardless if it is sPvP or WvW, Thiefs almost always try to stealth Finish Them!, 1 person out of the picture is less people to deal with and if you can sneak in an Finish Them! move un detected, then people will do it, hell I will admit, even I have been known to do it on occasion.
This is my last post to you Bruno, so keep on drawing up those sceanrios that barely anyone uses.
yeah, the scenario of “more than just two people in PvP” is a really unlikely one.
You are still missing the basic concept behind downed, second chance. Being stealth and stomping someone who cannot target you/others is removing that chance and trivializing defeat.
You can throw as many sceanrios at it as you like, the fact remains that stealth/mist/etc trivialize Finish Them!.
Be happy that your Thief is as powerful as it is for a burst class, it doesn’t need this as well. As others have pointed out, if they remove the ability for a Thief to stealth stomp, they have alternative ways of finishing someone in 1 second anyways. So whats the issue?
what part of “other players can still damage you” did you not get?
what part of “every class but thief can put stability on to stomp the enemy” didn’t you get?
what part of “half the classes have actual immunity skills they can pop to stomp the enemy, and thief is not one of them” didn’t you get?
what part of “in PvP you’ll never rally by attacking a standing player with downed skills by yourself” didn’t you get?
in fact, did you even read my posts?
I did read it but I am choosing to ignore you from here due to you still not participating with the topic at hand and trying to cover the whole issue up with blanket statements that make your class look underpowered.
You are simply dancing around the mechanic of downed, which is, second chance. Thiefs can trivialize a stealth Finish Them! move every encounter, where other classes have to wait minutes to do it again.
i’m starting to think you ignored me from the beginning.
i never said thief was underpowered. thief would become underpowered, though, were ANet to listen to you and remove the only thing keeping thieves on a level playing field with other classes when stomping a downed player.
i’m contributing to the topic. i’m disagreeing with it, and that’s a contribution. i’m pointing out that were you to remove stealth from stomping, then every class in the game would have to lose stability, immunity, mist form, or whatever have you.
it’s not a thief thing. stealth trivializes downed state no more than save yourselves does. or are you going to say that Aegis and stability should also be removed when you’re stomping a player?
oh, and one last thing.

eh, starter areas are fairly active in fort aspenwood. actually, most areas are. it’s very rare for me to not spot players whenever i’m exploring, even when i go to really “niche” areas.
Okay, okay. Fine. Let’s just take away the monthly all together, before even more people start to feel entitled to it.
if we remove features every time people complain about it, the thief class wouldn’t exist anymore, which i bet some sore losers would love to see happen, but it shouldn’t.
I completely support this thread. This feature would be great if it wasn’t “Thief Wars 2”, but considering the sheer number of thieves in PvP matches and WvW… the imbalance of being able to finish someone while being completely untouchable really starts to show.
you’re not untouchable. untouchable is armor of earth. untouchable is mist form. untouchable is endure pain. untouchable is save yourselves.
untouchable is not stealth. stealth is very much touchable.
The issue is, you need a target to execute downed abilities. The whole mechanic behind downed is a chance at a second chance. This is removed and trivilized by stealth when you cannot target a target to execute skills to apply the mechanic of second chance.
tell me, what’s the difference between not being able to target, and being able to target and not do damage to it? i’ll tell you the difference. on the former, an AoE (like guardian downed 2) works. on the latter, it doesn’t.
so, for the 20th time: the thief’s ability to effectively stomp someone is WORSE than everyone else’s.
on PvP, you won’t down someone and then kill them during downed state. you have to keep the enemy from stomping you while your allies deal with him and you. and the thief’s only counter to “friends” is pretending he’s not really there. everyone else can just trigger superman mode and stomp you, not even a whole team of hammer guardians can do anything about it.
Other classes can stomp people while invulnerable. While stealthed, you can still be knocked away, knocked down, or interrupted.
There is nothing wrong with stealth stomping, and usually the thief has to be careful when doing it too.
Thief can get Stability benefits just like any other class plus Stealth + Quickness combo.
You can still target everyone else when downed, you cannot target a Thief when stealthed. you need to target a player to execute skills unless they are ground based. (AoE’s, PBAoE’s)
really? i have yet to see that stability thief skill. the only one they have is dagger storm, and good luck stomping with that.
stealth still takes damage, stealth is still affected by AoE. thief has stealth. other classes have immunity to damage, or immunity to crowd control, which are both much stronger features to be used when stomping than stealth. an ele using mist form or armor of earth is much more likely to down you than a stealthed thief. a warrior with stability and endure pain, same thing. a guardian with AoE stability shout, same thing. and so on.
contrary to popular belief, being stealthed doesn’t mean you’re immortal. i seriously recommend anyone complaining about the thief to give it a serious shot. see if it’s all as easy as you think it is.
Other classes can buff other classes.
so what are you telling me is that the only way the thief should be able to stomp people like the other classes do is if someone else helps him?
yeah, great idea. everyone can pop instability or invulnerability, but the thief? HA, find someone to buff you instead.
and right back at ya: stealth can be countered by AoEs and knockbacks, unlike invul/stability. get some friends to help you.
please, PLEASE think before you complain. thief stealth is good at stomping lonely players that don’t have an AoE counter (like guardian’s) or an escape skill (like ele’s). meanwhile, other classes have skills that are better at stomping in every other possible scenario, including group fights, and are just as good as stealth against the specific example up there.
so me and my friends went there today. we found the place, got inside. heard all her dialogue, but before we even got to the first room (i could swear there were some mobs there), we could see a DE saying that we had to kill Vexa, and she was at 1/3 health.we stood there for a good minute or two, thinking some players were fighting her, and we wanted to play the dungeon from scratch. but her health bar wouldn’t move. we decided to go in.
got to the portals room. is there supposed to be a puzzle here? we couldn’t tell, because for all we know, it was solved by the time we got there, and just rushing in a straight line to the first portal you see would get you to the end safely.
then we got to Vexa. no players around, just us, and she was still there, 1/3 health, already on the final stage of the battle. we fought her (not that she offered much resistance, she’d pop an AoE knockback then go back to waiting to be killed), got our rewards, and walked out feeling completely underwhelmed.
minidungeons are one of my favorite parts of the game, but making them public instead of instanced has caused this situation more than once during my playtime. the difference would be that i’d walk into a solved dungeon and other players would actually be there, but it seems Vexa’s lab only resets once she dies (and then you have to wait a few hours apparently, because we tried doing it again and nothing happened).
i feel the need to bring up, none of this would’ve happened if minidungeons were instanced like normal dungeons. we already have to teleport to get in them, so it’s harmless.
^ i’ve had mobs go invulnerable mid-fight, in a plain area, and while still attacking me >.>
