I have to agree with the people above who said T3 is FUBARed. It’s been pretty nasty for the last 6 weeks. T2 remnants come down and steamroll everything with superior coverage and population. (not one or the other, but BOTH) If you like being swarmed, and fighting an uphill battle, T3 will be a good place for you

You know how to bust a zerg,
and you know what its like to have an inventory full of Heavy Loot Bags.

[Nors] is a dedicated WvW guild. We are recruiting members from all timezones in the effort to reinforce the server’s timezone coverage. We are currently recruiting active WvW participants from Crystal Desert for zerg busting/havoc squads/hammer trains and all other core aspects of WvW. Teamspeak is a requirement, however having a mic is not. We do not require you to have a microphone or to talk if you do not wish to, however simply having teamspeak up is a huge communications advantage that allows us to relay information and directions within an instant. This is a huge tactical advantage.

Depending upon current build and situation, a build change may or may not be required. If such is determined as necessary, recruits should be willing to run set raid builds if asked to do so.

Anything else you can tell me about the server? What’s the action like in T4?

Tier four seems to actually be pretty stabilized. There will be timezone gaps for every server no matter what tier you are in, but the fights are good in tier 4 and most of the score doesn’t come from off hours cap holding as in the other tiers I’ve been in.

For the love of god. Do not nerf the guardian. It is the slowest class in the game, thus making it extremely kiteable already. I play all classes, and the only one that I have issues beating guardians on is my elementalist. This is probably due to the fact that it is my most recent 80 and I am still learning to play it. Just kite them time your highest dps combos for when they have most of their healing on cool down. Meditations have incredibly obvious skill animations and if they use sig of resolve you have the advantage of being able to look at their boon bar and knowing when their heal is on cool down. Guard does not need nerf. It is easy to beat if you just pay attention to them while you kite. Warrior does not need to kite the guard, they simply need to time their combos around when they’ve spammed their meditation heals.

I have to say I’m quite disappointed in the WvW community being unable to run reflect rotations.

Lets talk about this.
Attackers will place 2 rams on gate and run reflect rotations. Because there is not much mesmers and eles, they will probably go with guardian Wall of Reflection.
Defenders will drop siege disabler on inner side of gate. If defender is not stupid he will throw it on ground just in front of gate.
This will result in disabling rams because just the throw can be reflected not effect itself.

This. Just this. It seems like every person that sides with siege disabler implementation makes that argument. They don’t seem to understand that reflects will not work with a gate in between the reflect and the effect.

If done right, you actually got rewarded with a new mechanic to bate the waste of 10 supps per try out of the defenders.
People just need to adjust properly to the new situation.

Also, not sure about the oil.
It may be suicidal to man it, but usually commanders must clear it first before considering dropping rams, so it definitively buys you time, just by its existence.

dude. you can use disabler through gate…as in: my rams are on one side, and you are on the other completely out of sight, and can disable my rams…how on earth is anyone supposed to “adjust” to that? Develop telepathy?

Tried it in practice already, or do you just like to complain about everything instantly?
Tell your guardians to throw their WofR directly onto the gate and you’ll see how good they work.
The wall’s field is actually thick enough to cover the hitbox of the gate from the other side, so siege-disablers will get reflected from the other side as well, if you time your walls right.
Ofc you will get problems when the gate in question does not have a gap above to look trough, but that also improves the capability of small servers to hold their keep with reasonable chances.
Any attack on a keep should be a risk for the attacker anyways, so here you go: nice balance for the attacker (which just could chain-spam WofR (if he brings enough skilled people to organize the rota)) and for the defender in keeps (can’t be seen, therefore not be predicted).

You’re kitten right I’m complaining about this OP trap. If I don’t people like you will spout bullkitten like the above quote to defend it, and of course I’ve tried using reflects to counter the trap, it worked great until someone realized they can just spam the trap through a gate. The trap has been in the game for two months now, of course I’ve tried reflecting it. I don’t know whats more surprising, that you are defending a trap that might as well have removed rams from the game or that you think that is a serious counter. Reflects 100% of the time? Really? Wow man. Just wow.

Simple and to the point thread. Nearly half the time I go to use the black lion trading post it freezes my game. This never happened prior to the feature pack when the original trading post was still in game. Please fix this, its really frustrating to have to constantly restart the game because of this.

D/p and P/d are so cheesy. Having tried several condi builds for my thief I can confidently say the gameplay is passive and requires no skill whatsoever to play (especially if you throw perplexity runes on your condi thief and use condition duration foods) I could kill players and order pizza at the same time on a condi thief. Honestly man, S/D is fun to play IMO, and a lot less cheesy. D/D is of course a viable option too.

How can arena net even possibly think this is a good idea? Good luck to any server that doesn’t have scouts posted on their t3 keeps 24/7. Dumb idea is Dumb.

In short, no. I did not.

The lengthy explanation would be:
The outcomes were as many predicted they would be. These tournaments always push players to transfer, even though in many cases the rewards for their bought victories do not outweigh the price they pay to move. The seasons never actually feel like a tournament, but rather a wall siege war being waged by players terrified to jump down from off the wall. I can recall very few match ups during the season that resulted in fun. For the most part, they were all one sided land slide victories. From watching the millenium.org boards all season as I often do, it was never very difficult to immediately know who would win the match ups that week. These tournaments prove nothing to me, and offer very little pride in winning. Where most would rejoice I find myself analyzing victory. I often ask myself questions such as:

“Well, was it relatively a balanced matchup?”
“Were the opponents even trying this week?”

Perhaps there should be more of a focus on making the rosters and the odds of outcomes more evenly stacked in such a way that it really is anyone’s win. So that it might actually feel like a tournament as opposed to an over glorified way to shower the higher populations with tournament tickets. The state of things as is, is entirely to predictable to be considered a tournament. What kind of tournament have you ever participated in where you could just look at the roster and know which entries will succeed tremendously, and which will fail at even mustering a defense? I would honestly just rather we not have the seasons, and tournament tickets be replaced by tickets received for completing every hundred WvW ranks or something.

As if it was fair for T4-T5 servers to face T3 in the first place.
Why would they give you free and easy rewards if all you do
is blob harder than the lower population/coveragr servers.
If there’s 1 to blame it’s your servers for failing to beat YB,
miscalculating your points and overall poor strategy.

So much QQ about blobs and coverage, yet you claim that servers with less timezone coverage than YB = Poor Strategists?…News flash buddy, YB has 24/7 coverage and we still haven’t figured out a way to subconsciously be at our computer desks to play WvW while we are @Work/College/Sleeping, does that make us bad strategists? No, it makes you an idiot for believing coverage = Superior Strategy. GG.

Its all a matter of perspective. The Disabler Trap is both overpowered and necessary depending upon who is wielding it. For a tier 8 server with literally 5 people online after 12pm eastern (and even less than that in TS) it is very well received and allows them time to at least hop maps and type in map chat/ask in teasmpeak for help and have a chance at keeping the objective. However, in tier 3 it is ridiculously overpowered and in no way shape of form necessary for a server that can field several guild groups across all maps to have to use. In tier 8 and the lower tiers, they have an excuse. In the higher tiers it is being abused and is completely overpowered.

The only solutions to this problem I can think of, is to either remove it completely and find a way to implement the same chance for lower tier servers to stall for help without making it so spamable(if thats a word). Or to drastically reduce the disable time.

From my 20 months playing WvW I can say that I can use the fingers of only one hand to count how many players I saw and fought against which were using boosters.

Honestly I don’t see a difference with using or not the boosters, with the gold sink WvW is, don’t think many players would spend their own money with boosters that only remains for 1h. I can agree that would be ‘unfair’ in a small scale fight as well as a duel, but the later can have their own rules if a consensus is reached.

HOPE's WvW and GvG Builds/Comp

Both the warrior build and ele build are metas.

Yupp pretty much. The Warrior Build just has by far the most utility to a group as far as damage/sustain/cleansing/boons go, definitely why pretty much anyone serious about GvG used it or a variant of it. Same with the Ele build, but there would be times we played around with Healbot elementalists or chill bot ele’s. In the end the meta set up just gave it the most all around utility and reliability, but there were some things that could change.

Occasionally we’d setup one ele as high damage, so close to zerker, and running more traits in fire.

Yeah, we use the same ones for our warriors and eles in [Nors]. Thats why I recognized them. We throw a D/D in there sometimes for fun though, just for general WvW though, not really in GvG.

We do not require you to have a microphone or to talk if you do not wish to, however simply having teamspeak up is a huge communications advantage that allows us to relay information and directions within an instant. This is huge in actual zerg fights.

Depending upon current build and situation, a build change may or may not be required. If such is determined as necessary, we are more than willing to help gear our members out. We welcome all members from Crystal Desert both new and experienced, and will help our members in whatever way possible. Since the guild has recently transferred from Ferguson’s Crossing, a new website has been made, and is gradually becoming more and more active.
