Sooo…. Aspects are now time limited. Which means if I can’t maneuver my camera before it expires it does (hello 20 deaths on trying to get to the top of the big rock, I gave up in the end)

But worst of all — death shroud = immediate lost of any aspect. So fighting that stupid sylvari who jumps from rock to rock is basically wonderful example of frustration. All those who specced shroud to remove condition have to re-spec. Half of the damage from shroud is gone.

I understand that only Warriors are beloved children these days, but really?

This is the worst idea anyone has ever had. Congratulations.

And you are the spirit of that forum… lol…

@Bugabuga.9721
The idea would be that even if it is cleansed from 5 players at once, it would still spread in the moment of the cleanse to allies around you. It would be only possible to completely get rid of it, if no1 is around you.

If 5 ppl get it cleansed and one is not effected by the cleanse but still in melee range of all 5 players, then yes, he would get 5 stacks. It forces the zerg to split up and a melee range spread is indeed very close, so don’t even need to run miles away.

From my point of view this condition is a very clear working condition. If it is technical possible I can not say. But I think it would allow for Condition professions to be more viable in bigger fights. And bring a new dynamic to WvW.

@SFShinigami.2015
Hehe, I thought about that. But in GW1 you also had defensive skills for disease. It was completely integrated in the game. Although I also I would like to something like that in GW2^^ And yes, I was also imagining that pug

If we get “defensive” skill then it probably won’t matter much (aside from syphoning off skillpoints for a bit like that otherwise useless “water fart” skill for toxic stuff). The reason why I ask about 5 people is that in most cases (except for siege) number of targets is always limited. If 5 people get cleared with one water blast then it’s not going to impact organized blobs much as people blast water fields at the same time, restoring health and cleansing conditions. “Contagion” aspect makes it also quite unmanageable from server’s point of view unless severely limited. Plus it would encourage most people to clump up to perform immediate clearing as water fields are most efficient for this.

If primary purpose is scatter a group, then do it the same way as in Fractals where everyone gets a “charge” that damages them when they are near other people with a charge. Again, cleansing would be efficient. But once the blob starts attacking it usually changes formation anyway (splits into little blobs/circles etc)

Do we really need another “condition that is not a condition”? If it’s a condition then Elementalist staff 5 in water = what, exactly? If water field covers everyone in the group, does it go away? Three water fields in succession? If one person stands outside of the group and everyone else gets cleansed is that person insta-killed by 25 stacks of this “not bleed bleed”? What’s the “normal” counter to this?

We already have Epidemic on Necros, which is basically this but with more sane “spreading” vector — anyone within melee range gets the condi stacks.

Though I suppose a Thief with that shortbow won’t laugh long when a few Necros will transfer about 10 stacks back to him Plus a bit of blind so hiding in shadows won’t clean it immediately. Just to be sure

Bugabuga.9721

I really like pvp-style sigil/rune “unlocks” That’d be nice. But, with just using current in-game items, why not make “Bundles”/“Boxes”?

Bundle can contain any item that you currently own (so one item can be dropped into many bundles, as long as you own it) and traits. So there would be several types of bundles:
- Traits bundle (trait configuration only)
- Equipment bundle (set of any equipment in ‘equippable’ configuration)
- Trinkets bundle (all amulets/rings)
- Armor bundle (armor/back-item)
- Comsetic bundle (colors/outfit)
- Build bundle — any set of above bundles (one or none of each kind).

So for those who just want to have different traits and don’t swap anything else they can set up traits bundle alone. If someone has a set of armor that comes with particular traits (i.e. ‘my tanky mode’) they would have a build bundle — trait set and armor bundle. And for full set you’d have a build bundle that has everything in it Would look like a little box and can be carried around in regular inventory, with ability to pick an icon when bundle is created (my only question is — do we want to require bundle equipment to be in immediate storage or is it okay to pull things out of personal bank too, so I only carry ‘tanky bundle’ while my PVT armor is in the bank or do I carry it and bundle is essentially a shortcut)

For sharing purposes bundle string/code is probably fine (as with items today, I see people ping the whole armor sets etc).

As this would be an item, it might have a “cooldown” of sorts (or limit of not using more than 2 within 5 minutes etc)

Everyone who wants everyone to get rewards, what should the incentive be for winning?

Um.. to get even more reward? It’s a difference between winners getting 5+ weapons and losing servers getting 1 or 2, versus having to wait several more months, and then grind the whole achievement thing again to get one. (presuming that current skins would not be upgraded to newer other skins)

I thought that gift of heroes was supposed to be available in badges. So that it’d be a choice — get weapon with just tickets, or spend a third in tickets and the rest in gold, crystalline dust plus badges. Essentially giving low ranking servers a shot at two mistforge weapon (with winners getting a lot of them)

They have never even suggested that it would be available for badges alone. And making it available from only badges would make it much easier (and cheaper) to get multiple Mistforged weapons than buying them outright, and that would just be silly.

Well, that would go well with “inviting people to play WvW more” theme. Those who have played for a while would have enough badges to do it outright, and those who just started being involved in WvW would have an option to just use the tickets, or play more outside of the tournament to get more badges and upgrade weapons to fancier kind
Versus “you can only get one upgraded weapon after grinding for two seasons”, which is really not exciting, given how uneven populations are.

All these weeks of being rofl-stomped by mega-zergs 2-3 times the population of our server is actually not enough for a weapon and we have to live through another season to make one? Half a year for one weapon, right?
Very classy.

How are the rewards nerfed?
Before this change you had to spend the badges AND the tickets.
Now you only need to spend the (same amount) of tickets.

So technically the rewards themselves have only changed in a way that makes them EASIER to obtain.

I really wish for one feature: Megamap ID.
Just give us an ID of the instance we’re in. Expose events through API via ID. Let people try to join map by ID.

This would solve “I need a Taxi please” (instead we’d get Guild Broadcast “Doing missions in Frostgorge ID 332, join please”), “Is Lyssa up?” / “I need Grenth for trait” (instead timers server would let you enter ID and see relevant temples states, and see on which server IDs event is in progress/scheduled soon). “Which map is COF open?” (timers server giving you a list of IDs dungeon is available)

Creation of new servers would still be limited (ANet systems would decide when it’s time to create a new instance or destroy empty one), just would allow players to move between them when capacity allows

Also a good way is to LFG this in the Opening world content.

So other than begging for someone to ferry you into a “good” instance, is there any other practical way to get into organized map?

Honestly, I didn’t like too much the Boss Blitz.
Too much serious business for me. I like a more relaxing gameplay.
Plus, some people there is mean and elitist. There’s good and nice people too, but the rotten ones spoil it.

I like much more the laberyntine cliffs. There the people seems to be more happy, helpful and nice in general.
And the cute baby Dolyak race is awesome.

If you’re not in organized group, or gods forbid a condie class (which are basically useless here with all the immunity on bosses, cause, yay, zerker warrior build diversity) you’re not supposed to have fun — you should work diligently, train hard and organize. Then you might be worthy of a bit of loot. If you manage to scare away all the other pugs that upscale your event, purposefully or indadvertedly Those who managed to find the well organized overflow will hold on to it for their dear life to farm-compensate horrors of training.

I wish condition classes were not excluded from the boss fights

I agree, Cliffs are awesome. There are always people willing to port if someone is having a hard time, and dolyak race is a lot of fun and is easy.

Who wants to take bets on anet doing a mid-event revamp of boss blitz, ala the assault knights?

But would that really help? On my server even with all the re-vamping knights events failed more than 80% of the time. If you’re lucky you get shoved into overflow where it works. If not — go away and do something else because it’s pointless.

For organized guild like TTS this content is not a problem at all any more (same as teq/wurm)
It’s only a problem for people who are not in some highly organized guild, or don’t want to conform to requirements (build, behavior, not running into wrong area or boss upscales etc — this basically makes the “anti-zerg” “training” into a second job instead of having fun with the game without ruining some event for a bunch of people). So revamping right now, short of bringing back normal loot for killing things, is not going to change anything — your success will heavily depend on being in one of the well organized instances (I suppose if all regular public ignores pavilion from now on, your odds of being in organized instance might get a bit better). Which is fine. The game is getting to be less and less casual-friendly for new content, and new events are simply trying to drive that point home with each “no loot unless you do it the right way” event.

Naw, it’s by design – masses supposed to get frustrated and drop off Now the only ones who continue doing it will be the well-organized TTS crowd, doing gold event over and over.
The event should last for a few weeks, right?

Also if you did all the bosses individually, you don’t need 10 boss blitz to complete meta. Buy 10 crates in cliffs and open them, which should give one meta achieve and trigger overall to be enough to finish the meta.

I kinda like the “fake commander” idea (kinda when knights would start you have fake commander hats on Kasmeer etc). Plus put a portal/curtain on the zones and make them separate. You run into the zone and it closes up until the boss is dead with potential add-ons allowed in one/two minute intervals (i.e. it “locks up for 1 or 2 minutes, but if boss is not dead, it would allow more people to come in, then lock up again”)

But generally I’d like them to clearly communicate that this is totally absolutely different event. Otherwise it’s like going into the candy store that used to give you free unlimited candy but now it suddenly has a drill instructor that says the whole group of customers has to run 20 mile marathon and if nobody stumbles during it, he will give us a tasty carrot and celery stick :P

Why don’t you just play what is fun in this game. You really expected the devs to sit there in a meeting and go “Its time for a gold-patch where players can farm till they drop – that will improve our game!” This is another patch where they try to change our habit to do the content in an unchallenging, unfun zergy way even if we could do something different – just because we think its the more effective play style.

Zerging the Pavilion was awesome. It was fun, you get to run around with a bunch of people, it gave nice loot and you could level an alt. What’s not to like?

p.s. I found out that you DON’T need to do the whole boring Blitz 10 times stuff. Because you can buy 10 Supply Crates with Mithril Ore (which is cheaper than iron these days), which gives you one achieve for meta, add easy “kill 50 blah mobs”, talking story instance, do each boss exactly once and it’s all done So if you didn’t manage to finish 10 Blitz events by now (I only see them all being stuck at 3 bosses now with population under 30 people), just buy 10 boxes with ore and be done Yay!

Now, do I want Dolyak tonic or weapon skins… (already have fuzed gauntlets)

Look, we’ve been coming to this state ever since Tequatl. People keep complaining that there are “too many zergs” and “farming all the time”, so we got the Teq event where nothing drops loot. But people kept complaining about trains and farming, so now the same nerf has been spread to the Pavilion. And champions got nerfed twice now. You’re not supposed to earn materials because that would let you play with a shiny legendary in less than a year worth of grinding.

So we end up with this boring stuff. No XP, no loot. Enjoy the combat system :P

p.s. “Downscaling” on the event doesn’t work, and trying to kill individual bosses with 5 people doesn’t let you finish it in 5 minutes. Plus, go heavy zerk or go home (you know, for “build diversity”).

Hopefully people who were complaining about all the farming will now have pavilion to enjoy all by themselves.

And skill lag was getting worse and worse up to about 2 seconds from pressing to actual activation Including guild chat.

Restarting couple times worked — on 3rd try I got a map without any commanders and everything was working just fine. So I figured it was that particular instance that got overloaded somehow.

So, with last “patch” (where we were only given 3 minutes to reboot) some siege in WvW eternal got wiped. Is it a bug? Intentional? I know sentries automatically became “white” (but ownership of towers remained the same) which is fine, I guess. But what determines which siege gets destroyed? Macbook Pro (2.2Ghz Intel i7 8Gb RAM, AMD Radeon 6750M, 1Gb VRAM, Mac OS 10.9.1 Maverics) here. Game is practically unplayable now Any time there are more players on screen it gets down to 1-2 fps in high performance mode (audio plays just fine, so I have to play by ear, randomly casting skills hoping I won’t get one-shot by invisible enemy). Horrible.

Doing temples now is basically a slide show (with some generic models doing that up-down motion) and yesterday everything was fine (20+ fps except for Lyssa that always bugs out to 1-2 fps in north-eastern defense event, but re-logging in fixes that back to 20+ fps). WvW is pretty much the same — as soon as more than about a dozen players appear on screen everything slows down dramatically.

In previous version I had reasonable performance in Autodetect (pretty) mode, and great performance in Best Performance mode. Not any more

On cooldown length:

  • The 30 minute length is based on the effective duration of the items (5 minutes). Compared with the Glyph of Lesser Elementals (Elemenatlist utility skill, 1 minute duration), 5 minutes is quite long.
  • It’s possible that we could go to something more like 1 minute duration, 5 minute cooldown, but that’s getting back into re-balancing the item. With a re-balance we stand to raise equal or more controversy. Currently you can at least continue using the item to whatever end it was used before, albeit in a more limited fashion. Had we changed it completely, you may have been able to use the item more frequently but no longer in the same capacity as before.
    /snip/

Wait wait wait. For elementalist the duration is one minute. The recharge is 45 seconds after expiration. So it’s 60s + 45 seconds if the elemental survives (ha-ha). Multiplying by 5 we get 525 seconds. I’m sure most people would be just fine if cooldown was 9 or even 10 minutes. But 30? I don’t see how the length of elemental’s life (theoretical, I might add) could be translated into 30 minutes (or more, as you’ve written) long cooldown. Also, does it mean that if everyone bring their elementalist to Tequatle fight the whole server will melt down again? Because they can spam those things on less than a minute cooldown. That’s very confusing.

If you have to do this (despite performance improvements coming as per other dev posts) couldn’t you just change the item to be exactly as elementalist’s skill then, if that’s the template for performance estimation? Introduce a different version so it lasts a minute and goes onto 45 seconds (fine, 120 seconds) cooldown?

Giant cooldown impacts players’ quality of life a lot. Especially with new fights introduced in LS patch that give no loot but have tons and tons and tons of adds. Doesn’t having gazillion things spawn during Lyssa event affect performance? Why not tone that down as well?

@Vol: I presume the graphical performance issues? Or just due to the fact that everyone spawned them at the same time? That is not going to change, it’s just now people will only spawn them during particular phase of Teq fight. Plus, I also wonder if it gets reset when you travel to another map or not (i.e. if you switched from Sparkly Fen to Cursed Shore, are you allowed to use it again or do you need to wait for global 30m cooldown)

Also apparently affects seed turret item too. Even though it’s not a pet at all :P (well, maybe it’s a “pet rock” type of a pet?)

So, as patch notes say any item that summons “pets” is on “30 minutes cooldown” (for “performance” reasons, as I presume it improved players’ performance), are there any other items that help out without “use it once in 30 minutes” limits? Ogre pet whistle is kinda useless as you never know what it will summon (plus that does qualify as a pet, frankly more so as elemental hardly seems to be a pet). Do seed turrets count as “pets”? Just give points depending on the defending side. Taking a keep and not a single person protects it? That’d be one point at the moment of taking. Kinda like a sentry.
Real human defenders present and actively protecting? If population is small — half the points. If more comparable — full points reward.

Regardless of the taking situation, if keep is not fought over (and really fought over, and not just “sneeze at the door and have it contested”) — no points. If someone is trying to take it from you and you succeeded in defending it, you get a couple ticks worth of points similar to the taking.

That way the actual fighting would matter, instead of coverage. And severe population disbalance would matter less.

We were able to do it (and then also got the exact same fractal during “normal” run) after a number of wipes. Still not clear if we’ve completed “everything” or managed to skip something.

Getting rod from the “endless knockback turret room” is possible once you’ve learned the “safe spots” (some spots in the maze that don’t get hit by cannons — probably shouldn’t mention this as it’ll get “fixed” :P) — grab shields, they allow you to block one or two hits, drop them off in the safe spots to avoid “overheating” damage. Hit switches at the same time.

For giant ooze — damage it, as soon as other smaller oozes appear, kill them. Do not hit giant ooze when you see “blocking” (stop immediately) or you’ll get one-shot.

After that we went up to the “final” platform with shiny subject and disappearing platforms — run clockwise and counter-clockwise while ranging it (as a necro I also switched to minions for that part) and if you’re lucky and don’t run out of tiles it’ll be done

I agree that this is a really masochistic “introduction” to fractals for someone who hasn’t done them before. Kinda like Ascalon as a “low level dungeon” — once you get used to it it’s doable, but for someone new it’ll be a total put-off. I don’t know why Anet is doing this. Maybe their testers are jaded?

I like the idea of basing rewards on population/coverage. If there’s no “enemy” force present on the map for a certain time, then points stop ticking. So while re-taking everything when primary coverage ends would still be “viable” (for short PPT gain), having someone cover night time when opponents have no presence outside of the spawn area, wouldn’t give that much of a gain.
If there is fighting, then points would continue to tick. Of course, this would have to be time-gated (i.e. 30 minutes, to prevent zerg from intentionally jumping map to map to “stop” progression)

Nice to have: some sort of an estimation of wait time when opening WvW menu, so you can see that map A is currently queued (at least, and with “average wait time” somewhere if there’s a chance of calculating it). For commanders, it would be useful to see if map could accommodate 10/30/50 people, to avoid fracturing the force constantly (right now you have to “try” to go to a map and then come back if half of your group suddenly becomes queued).

Sad part? This event will die soon.

Rewards aren’t everything.

30 people can kill Karka Queen much faster than they can kill the Claw of Jormag, and she gives double the rewards. For the time invested, KQ is much more profitable.

And yet people do Claw all the time with 50+ people while KQ rarely gets touched. Why is that? Would it not be smarter to spend your time doing the more rewarding and faster run if your server can bring enough people?

Wait, I thought KQ requires “clearing” of all the areas to trigger with huge zergs of karka critters? I presume that is the reason why people don’t do it. You have to kill a ton of enemies before it spawns, areas get re-invaded by critters, very annoying.

Claw is pretty much there. You waypoint, you hit the crystals, then dragon, rezz other players, done. No holding of any areas anywhere, no additional organization required?

The more synchronization needed, the less chance some random people will want to do it, that’s pretty much expected.

So, the real problem emerges...

Look, people who were demanding ultra-hard content that requires meticulous organization and synchronization got exactly what they asked for. Bonus difficulty for having to overcome presence of casual players.
Just wait for the Boss Week to be over, most casual players will learn the lesson that encounter brings nothing but broken armor and lots of screaming in map chat and move on to something else Those who remain will no longer trigger overflow and Teq will be “do it once a week” event for large guild/guild groups :P

I hope actually that it will be able to live once in a while a la Karka Queen. For the queen, if a good guild wants to do it, they can call on map chat and have a sizeable group organized to finish the events. I wish it’ll be possible in the future with Teq when the boss week stuff will be over… but I’m not sure.

Well, the difference is that, while Karka Queen is harder than your average Shatterer, it doesn’t require super-synchronized execution and does give reasonable loot.

So large enough (100+ people) guilds will probably have Teq Saturday Event where they will be in control and be able to kill it Which will be good enough to have Teq declared a “success” (“we managed to reduce inflow of yellows from easy-to-kill dragon, yay!”). Regular players will ignore it and move to some other less frustrating content
