I wish new Shattered Observatory to not be in daily recommended rotation. I mean seriously, you get two mini normal sized fractal and extra long horrible one. Which leads to pug groups just not doing it. I guess it’s ok to leave it at 30+ minutes for level 25 but at daily recommended? Ick

I’m ok for CM to be there for those who want it

In Mistlock Observatory. Trying to select “return to the previous map” gives “You do not have access to this map”

I presume it happens when “previous” instance map is lost (i.e. you go to mistlock observatory, then into wvw then log out, then log back in — you will be in observatory but “previous map” will be lost)

So I tried the new fractal tonight… um… nope After 4 wipes on second boss… not worth it. It’s like you have normal fractals, and then you have this 1 hour long cluster-kitten. Oh well, I’ll wait for new elite specs to come out to see if regular non-CM 100 is puggable in off-hours without “well, we need 100% healer, and then any mistake still means we’ll wipe” exercise in frustration. Yes, probably quite doable. No, it’s horrible and not worth it for “non-professional” pugs :P

It doesnt even remotely take 1hr.

Well yeah. The problem is that I just play with random pugs at “off” hours. While all other fractals finish up fast enough, the new one seems to be a bit too crazy and very unforgiving. Not everyone has a raiding/regular group and fractals weren’t meant to be raids. Otherwise we’re back with situation similar to before — daily fractals can be fine or you get “lucky” and today’s one is 5x the length of the normal (without 5x the loot, of course, blah-blah, ‘play for the mechanic’). Pros just do the CM and skidaddle away

-Avenger work fine for me . If I’m down. I use skill 5 and Avenger disappear. Never getting weird case like that.

-You might confused Kiel banner with Aetherblade Thug banner I think.
Thug mob can cast banner that damage you.

Perhaps, it does get a bit hectic where it’s hard to tell when she waves a hand to cast and then thug casts own instead. Does thug mob banner damage show up in your damage log? What is it listed as?

if you cc the avenger he disappears. you probably were blinded and missed

the only issue with them for me is when i insta rally and they are doing the finisher and then i go down again and get insta-dead as they are finishing the skill. avenger should be immediately despawned after rally.

Oh. I wonder if that was the case. Or AOE on its finisher is large enough that when two people go down sequentially avenger 1 might actually finish person 2 instead. Makes sense.

- Fractal avenger seems to be now finishing regardless of cc. If you don’t invuln at the right moment, you get finished. CC doesn’t do anything and either your party ress you in time or you get killed. Also it basically insta-killed me in one case (I got downed, avenger spawned, bam, fully dead). Is CC-ing to not be finished working properly?

- Banner that was supposed to be “friendly” in Mai Trin sometimes is “enemy”? This change seemingly happened a couple weeks ago — Inspector sometimes randomly would cast a banner (and even rez people with it sometimes) but last couple times it seemed that the banner was “enemy” (i.e. dealing damage to me). Was it just a coincidence or did anyone else had it like that?

FYI the tier scaling changes are in for Shattered Observatory. If you were having trouble at 25, give it a go now and see if it feels much better.

Quick question: given that spectral grasp on necromancer is now 2x cooldown (50 seconds instead of 20 seconds) is there any recommended substitute for breakbar management?

It was funny, but last time I ran Thaumanova it actually didn’t re-port back at 25%

So it was middle of the platform, then side location until the fractal ended

Actually I didn’t mind that too much, though it wasn’t possible to walk around the anomaly (it was in the corner of the platform)

Eh, I run regular T4 nightmare, it’s not horrifying with pugs but not CM. Not good enough to carry.
But to avoid this “ragequit” problems I just skip new fractal as I don’t want to spend an hour+ on something that normally suppose to take, like, 20 minutes top (and I guess non-pro pugs are similar, especially when you get level 25 as recommended: ha-ha, nope, nope, nope).

Maybe once there’s a guide for normal pugs that doesn’t involve a raid group level participants. Until then I have one less fractal to run

Perhaps it’d be better in new fractal was in category of its own? T5. And move CM versions and further new fractals there too?

WvW: Map transition dialog still invisible

If you are in queue and for whatever reason queue “pops” while you’re transitioning (for example you’ve got killed, haha) the dialog never shows. Map will show state of “ready” but no button to actually travel. So it will sit in that state until “timeout” and then kick you to the back of the queue.

Can this be fixed?

Actually it’s worse — even when nothing is going on instead of transition dialog it just opens the map view and shows it as “ready” instead of “would you like to travel” one.

Necro minions killed by leyline energy pickup

In Siren’s Landing when I interact with leyline energy after destroying that critter, necromancer minions get automatically destroyed. And put on full cooldown. So if I have a flesh golem and blood fiend, touching the shiny insta-nukes them both.

Is it intended?

SBI/Mag/SoS match-up, camps on some maps seem to be out of sync.
Hovering on mini-map shows that camp is no longer on RI but actual lord would still have RI.
Offset is about 25 seconds

The reset times are as follows:
• Killing a Player – 10 minutes
• Killing a Caravan – 2 minutes
• Destroying a fortification – 5 minutes
• Killing a Guard – 2 minutes
• Killing a Lord – 5 minutes
• Killing or reviving a merc npc – 1 minute
• Repairing – 5 minutes
• Siege Damage Wall/Gate/Player – 1 minute
• Destroying Siege – 5 minute
• Killing a Veteran Creature – 5 minutes

These happen on event completion:
• Defending a Caravan – 2 minutes
• Completing a Merc Event – 5 minutes
• Completing a Defend Event – 10 minutes
• Capturing an objective – 10 minutes
• Capturing a Ruin or Shrine – 2 minutes
• Capturing a Sentry – 5 minutes

I think this is pretty fair actually, minus the veteran creatures as they were useless anyway and no one ever got what purpose they have. 5 mins is a bit much in comparison what other stuff gives.
But yes, I can understand that the scenario Deihnyx was talking about can cause problems. But I’m not so sure it didn’t before.

It’s not cumulative. It just resets. Killed one guard = 2 minutes. Killed 2 guards = 2 minutes from when the last one died. Didn’t run to the camp in time from the tower AND kill at least one more guard there = you’re back to zero. You can’t solo cata wall in time in this case to be able to extend the participation. Basically needs critical mass to be able to reliably keep the participation. Just your regular rat race for solo/very small groups

It is significantly harder to keep participation (especially on guarded map). If you don’t have enough time to solo camp before group that protects it nukes you, you don’t have enough time to go to another camp, period. Getting to the tower barely possible (and mostly not possible on the desert map). Basically everything is “do it with the zerg” mode. No zerg = good chance of participation insta-decaying before you have a chance to keep it up.

I guess “true roamers” don’t care — they are there to stomp noobs and cut off individuals from the tail of the zerg, not to get some pips and whatnot.

Unless I’ve misread what you’re asking for, that would be a stronger effect than Gravity Well.

Slick Shoes is the only engineer effect I can think of off the top of my head that applies a pulsing CC. Thunderclap can feel like it, but it only has an initial stun when it first lands – any additional dazes come from exploiting the lightning field with leap finishers.

Hey, they wanted to buff it, right? Could do just one pulse to stun anyone who is inside immediately (and normal “even if you try to blink out still get stunned”). Or do it like overload and have it apply damage. As of right now placing static in normal dynamic WvW is way harder and people just run around it cause it’s microscopic compared to, say, air overload.

And, ahahaha, nobody uses staff ele in PvP. As usual PvP makes everyone else’s life worse

Bloomhunger. Horrifying tier 4 carry-the-whisps-to-be-done-in-short-time results in 30 minutes of tries where every single thing aggroes + mossman + flux bomb + traps + tripwire = no thanks, I’ll just do other dailies. Gorilla tree is annoying but not that bad.

Nightmare. Because there are still people that run T4 who can’t break the bar. And I can’t survive CM as I can’t carry, as not good enough.

Bugabuga. Man spvp basiaclly has the same old mapes for 4 1/2 year now besides stronghold. There were tons of basic bugs for years and they didn´t bottor fixing anything.
Spvp is at least as left behind as wvw bro.

Compare number of maps in WvW (EBJ, one Alpine and now one Desert) — 3.
Maps in PvP:
Stronghold: Completely new, new mechanic
Battle of Khylo (old and “improved” now)
Coliseum (completely new)
Forest of Niflhel
Legacy of Foefire
Revenge of the Capricorn (new one)
Skyhammer (2 iterations)
Spirit Watch

Sooo…. no. PvP got more changes: coliseum, new game mode map and a bunch of changes to other maps Plus most of the balance changes were all because something was OP in PvP (and got nerfed everywhere as a result — engie and turrets, mesmer things, blocks, eles healing too much etc)

Yeah new map is mega annoying to a higher degree than HoT maps. It needs 2x the way points and actually useable ones. In most cases whenever any event happens it takes too long to actually get to the place because everything is so stupidly awkward to get to. I understand it “had” to have a shtick with Tarsan ropes, but constant bumping with your head, and completely unobvious ways to get from layer to layer… blergh. If new expansion will have more of this “verticality” stuff count me out.

Bonus, the tarsan rope bugs out from time to time and locks you in never-ending spinning falling animation. Enjoy re-doing the whole thing over.

Sooo is it supposed to be the biggest trolling item ever? Using it when defeated if you fell down through the floor allows you to get back, but when you interact with the panel to get up it insta-defeats you (and puts you into that little square with anomaly)
Using a second one pushes you out of the anomaly panel and insta-defeats you as you fall down Mega-bugs all over the place? Or just “you shouldn’t actually try to use it here” type of thing (in which case just disable it or something)

I thought only NA had no PvE people left due to mega-nerf to all rewards (needs even moar games to win and craft/buy marks to just save 20% of the cost — silly for someone who doesn’t love pvp). There are still some poor souls left who still have to grind up year of ascension achievement(s) before running away screaming.

Reasonably grindable ascended sure attracted a lot of PVE players, which could be fine. They should have all been grouped together in lower tiers.

Problems with PVE players only happen because of very very bad matchmaking. Higher rank players get randomly paired with “three run home and wait on it to cap” or “four people run to mid, die to one necro” players, start raging and stomping their feet.

“Oh, you just have to carry” (ahahaha, 500 to 50, losing streaks of 10-15 games)

“The matchmaking is unstable if you played less than 200 games” (wham, legendary duo opposing team from gold tier)

“Initial placements are totally fair” (fresh alt account wins placement games and minimum needed matches, wins NA tournament)

“Class balance and matchmaking is fine” (four necros and an ele vs three warriors and two dragonhunters? three chronos on one team? four dragonhunters?) etc etc

We’ll see how updated matchmaking and less shinies will drive the new season. Maybe things will be better?

So, aside from severely nerfed ascended vendor, are there any other rewards (that are not minis)? I was able to grind up the final year achievement, so technically don’t need any tickets any more. Skins for lesser cost of ascended ticket seem to be kinda meh (too purple). Anything new planned?

Meh, it’s okay. If this leads to higher queue time and not enough bronze tier fodder, all of these changes will be quickly reverted, a new type of token added and instead of raging about queue taking 15 minutes people will revert to raging about all the pve noobs only here for rewards. No choice, really

Whoever designed this absurdity needs to be prevented from playing guardian ever again. Perhaps force the designer to be on ele and run it for 20-30 times? Probably still not punishment enough. No, I don’t use freaking Special Action Key cause I am not raiding. So when it flashes for 0.25 second followed with knockback+condi-bomb that is not a good encounter. All while camera is spazzing out because the room is the size of a tin can (so you can either see where the boss is going or where tiny elemental is creeping up on you from behind to do a bonus knockback). Really, really stupid.
Yes, it’s doable (if NPCs don’t bug out and actually do rez you, it just takes 4 minutes cause they are being targeted with the same daze bomb), but stupid and goes on “never again” list.

I wish you could change utilities and weapon “out of combat” during the match. Right now you’re forced to guess what the enemy has (especially when people switch at the last moment). If I could swap weapon just like in other game modes, it’d make balance a bit better.

Limit on spread on MMR and, if playerbase allows it, try to find NOT exactly the same people to play with. This season it was quite bad when you basically have 12-15 people being shuffled into two teams over and over and over.

Add reveal + small increase of cast time on moa (so you have a chance seeing mesmer and dodge/block), so burst can’t be done completely from within stealth.

Activating invulns on warrior prevents point capture.

Sounds reasonable. 500-85 is a “fun” match for the 500 side but kinda pointless to the other so this would be useful. Plus in about 90% of games when it’s 100-10 after initial mid fight with all 3 points capped by winning team the result is obviously clear right there.

I was also told that platinum has “tons of guardians”. I wonder maybe you could try to give it a shot and see if that at least breaks up monotony of loss streaks a bit? Porting around with judges intervention or sword 2 is kinda of fun Plus, a few more bugfixes for matchmaking are incoming!

But ranger/druid and theif’s traps work the same? Placed they become invisible to the enemy (unless you actually see player place them) and player can ran away. And then you’ll run into dual-triple ranger trap and almost die from condie burst unless your cleanse is available (fire + poison+ bleeding + knockdown )

It certainly feels like stacking happens all the time. I had to play until I get 10 wins in ranger. My losses were 8 out of 10, and most were severe losses too, until it broke and became about even (2 losses, 2 wins). If you are playing about 3 hours after reset and later, the queue times become completely erratic — “average” is 1.4 minutes, but it’s either insta-match or 3-4 minute wait, which usually means it’ll be a blow-out one way or the other.

I presume it’s just a blind luck. You get into team that overall is weaker than other team, composition is complete trash, then you lose 500-100 and other team’s players chat in map chat on how garbage your team is. Question is, why the heck matchmaking puts you against them? Nobody knows.

I understand “get good” in case of 400-500 or closer (not making some mistakes or playing better here and there would mean a win) but for 100-500?

It doesn’t seem to get “better” with “playing more matches” either. It’s just random. So don’t despair, try to play closer to reset (odds of getting teams that are at least a bit closer are higher) and hope for better results and composition. Good luck!

New matchmaking repeating same issues

I presume new system might automatically create rating swamp in this case. The more you lose to those people, the less gain to their ratings they get (as your rating goes down, so does increment from their wins) so you become deadlocked in same relative rating aea. This narrows pool of players that system tries to pick for “relatively even match” and as long as you are playing at the same time you’ll get matched against them over and over and over.

Also in cases of story instance where you’re invisible (i.e. a second participant in last season’s living story) you get a pair of glowing eyes and nothing else (definitely a bug). Same applies to mist form — gas with red eyes. Kinda cute but also probably a bug?

Yay, it will be less trolly than before. Though let me ask you this:
when you say “50% of health pool” do you mean “50% of your normal out-of-combat health pool” or “50% of health pool when you died”?

Because the latter due to downed penalty might mean “12% of your health” (you get one of those “5 veterans knock you down and kill you” things, “ooh rallied, nope killed, ooh rallied again, nope dead” situations) which is better than “anything sneezes at you and you die” but is still quite trolly.
