That’s exactly whats wrong with this game just like any other dx 9 MMOs… You will see those dips its just what it is.

I’ve seen gameplay videos that don’t lag, some made even a year ago.
Considering my specs are a clear overkill, i don’t understand why it shouldn’t top the performance to be honest. :x

Yea 20-30 fps are smooth to the eye when you are watching them as videos not so much when you are playing. You are completely right your specs are overkill for an mmo but that doesnt necessarily mean you are guaranteed to have the performance you expect to have unfortunately. Because in the end it all depends on the coding of the engine.

Awkwardly, under “stress” (such as lion arch) my radeon 6850 beats the 290×.

It bugs my mind beyond belief lol!
I believe there must be something i can do to improve the situation, even just a little. :s

Little tiny bump…I tried lowering the settings and while it’s obviously better even at medium i experience fps drops.
I’m running windows 8.1 by the way. =)

Ok so i’ve been trying all the classes in the mists against svanir and i’d say the choice is now between thief and engineer.

That’s an improvement! xþ

ButterOfDeath.2873

I’ve been testing my low level thief in the mists today and i stumbled on this trait…which really interested me.
I’ve done some testing and research, it turns out the bonus damage is almost never obtain-able as stolen items aren’t considered bundles and the cooldown reset is too much of a gamble unless running signet of malice, one deception, one trap, one trick and the basilisk venom. And we all know traps aren’t that useful.

So my question is: in over one year, has this trait been fixed? I’ve seen Anet answered on some discussions about it.

If it hasn’t (which i assume it’s still outdated) what could be done to fix the trait?

In my opinion, the trait could reset one random healing+utility/utility/ skill out of those equipped, not necessarily on cooldown. ( as if it only resetted abilities on cooldown, thieves could achieve 20 second cooldown shadow refuge)

As for the bonus part, if kept, it could either increase all damage done while holding a stolen ability or it could allow you to steal two items instead of one (when using the first the second pops instead of the steal)…or just a stolen item increased effectiveness (increases boons/conditions provided by stolen items along with the damage).

I’d sincerely love to use this trait, but at the moment it’s absolutely broken. :s

Right, didn’t want to start a new thread, so I’ll just post here since I’ve got the same sort of question.

I’m looking for a class that is tough to kill (ie high damage reduction or health regen), has decent mobility options and preferably ranged. I was looking at rangers, but they seem to be melee for the most part. I prefer outlasting my opponents to bursting them down.

Any recommendations would be most welcome.

Elementalist, necromancers and engineer all have nice bunker builds (aka: survive while slowly killing your opponents).

One year and half ago, back when i was a complete newbie, i tried a tanky mesmer build and it worked too.

But yeah, i believe every class can play by outlasting opponents (even thieves, yup).

What i’d do is to try all characters in the mists: at first try all abilities on training golems then go bottom-right of the map and try to kill svanir.

If that doesn’t work…welcome aboard!

From what you’re saying I do think engie might be a good choice for you. Healing turret is one of the best healing utilities ingame IMO and it as well as elixir gun both give access to condi cleansing.

And while I’m getting the impression that kits aren’t your thing (they weren’t mine for a long time too so no judging here) having at least one will let you access perma-swiftness and potentially perma-vigor, which are so so nice for mobility and/or survival.

Plus depending on how you want to play or your current mode you have a lot of options and versatility, which also sounds like something you’d like?

I do believe the vigor on swiftness trait has been nerfed, so it’s no longer permanent.

Aside from that, i am deeply in love with kits, issue is when i’d want to try a elixir/gadget build and i’m forced to swap out a fully traited slot for a kit.
Turret combo + elixir gun’s elixir cleanse 3 conditions in total off myself, which is not that much actually and those two abilities take some time to chain.

Aside from those two abilities and the elixir C the engineer has barely any other condition clear (Aaand the cleaning formula too now that i think of it).

Which leads me to the questions:
1) Which classes have the least “useless” utility and elite (and healing) skills? I’ve never seen a thief using a trap for example.
2) Which classes have access to multiple power, condi, support and bunker builds?
3) Which classes have access to condition removal that is either reliable or doesn’t require utility slots?
4) Which classes have decent access to mobility ?

At the moment, my go-to choices are either ranger, mesmer, elementalist and engineer… to a minor degree thief and necromancer too.

As for the thief, while it has sweet mobility and on-demand stealth, i feel it has a lot of unused traits and utilities, plus weapon sets feel limited along with the fact condition clear is lacking.

1) depends what you are using them for, but after next patch Eles will probably have the most ‘useless’ elite. and yeah, traps are mostly useless for thief and for PvE you rarely need to use them at all. Thief still has pretty good elite (and healing) skills though.
3) Ele has very good condi cleanse, they don’t need utility either. thief has decent cleanse but they usually need a utility slot.
4) Thief is still the king of mobility, eles probably get their nerfed soon because they usually relied on FGS for it.

For thief, they might have a couple unused traits/utilities but so does every other class (some on warrior is battle roar or hidden pistol which I’ve never needed to use). Their weapon sets might be limited but most serve many purposes so you don’t need anything else, they also have a single condi cleanse on their sword which is useful at times.

about point one: I’ve also never seen a warrior throwing a bola or stomping the ground, just like i’ve never seen a mesmer using mimic or illusion of life, search and rescue, conjure earth shield, etc etc.
Every class does have some clearly never used or really rarely used utilities, that’s why i was wondering which one has the least.

thief’s cleanse is reduced to one every three seconds of stealth, three conditions from shadowstep and one on shadow return when using a sword. In my opinion that’s not enough to survive against condition users.

About the ele… fgs’ mobility isn’t hindered.

Battle roar and hidden pistol are charr utilities, not warrior utilities.

Each weapon set is a complete different gameplay, thus i’d need more weapon sets for each role (under this aspect i believe the engineer is the closest with kits).

Greetings, i’ve recently purchased a new high end gaming computer, it runs a i5-4690K cpu (without overcloak) and a Sapphire TRI-X R9 290X OC (UEFI) as gpu.

Now, today i’ve finally put the gw2 folder on the ssd, launched the game, equipped my best colin smile during the incredibly short loadings and proceeded to set everything to best performance.
Issue is… i’m disappointed by the performance.
When standing still with nobody near i top the 60 fps as i’ve set the vsync, thus it won’t exceed that.
However when actually fighting a few mobs or when i’m in a somewhat populated area, fps drop to 20-30…wut?

I do believe my specs are an overkill already, am i missing some weird settings ?

P.s. my drivers are updated and the pc arrived yesterday, thus it’s absolutely fresh.

However, mesmer’s out of combat mobility is either limited or hinders build possibilities (hi centaur runes).

I’ve got 3 mesmers (I guess you can tell they’re my fav). My main has travelers runes (a 25% boost). One of the others has a sigil of speed which gives swiftness ( a 33% boost) every time she kills. It stacks in duration so after a big fight she’s speedy for quite some time. If she’s running through a area and is out of speed I just kill any random creature or mob to get a boost. I’m probably going to get a sigil of speed for my other mesmer. I use sword/focus as one of my weapon sets on all 3 so they all have access to speed via focus 4 too.

Which still limits the runes you use or your gameplay or your build.
(by that i mean i’d not run focus on a condi build, i might want to use runes that don’t provide speed boosts and in case of sigil of speed i’d need to kill mobs)

Not that big of a problem, sure, yet it’s annoying for me.

Hi, so, i’ve finally put my hands on a good computer, which means i’ll finally be able to play the game without any fps drops, freezes or visual glitches.

That means, i’m finally ready to choose my own profession, issue is that i’m really bad at making such kind of decisions.

During the last two laggy years, i’ve levelled all classes to level 20-35, thus i do know how they feel pretty much.
The issue about that is that i liked almost all the professions, yet none stood upon others for me.
This is why i’m asking here, to people who by now have fully played the game.

Said that, my playstyle is absolutely intuitive and i require to change build really often.

However, mesmer’s out of combat mobility is either limited or hinders build possibilities (hi centaur runes).
Ranger’s condition removal is lacking and as far as i know only one condition build exists (shortbow + axe/torch or sword/torch).
Engineer’s condition removal is lacking too (elixir C looks like a waste to me) and i’m almost forced to run at least one kit.
Elementalist looks alright, but the scepter feels clunky and the staff’s delays aren’t really welcome. Plus i’m not good at bursting enemies (hi fresh air builds!).

As for the thief, while it has sweet mobility and on-demand stealth, i feel it has a lot of unused traits and utilities, plus weapon sets feel limited along with the fact condition clear is lacking.
With the necro i really like death shroud and most of the weapons, unluckily it has no mobility, evades or dodges (or stability).

I dislike guardians and warriors thus they’re no option for me.

So, that’s it. I hope anybody will be able to clear my mind. <3

What things specifically do you love about the class. I’m a returning player eyeing my thief and seeing posts like this gets me stoked.

The elements of the class that others don’t have:
Stealth, lotsa stealth.
Shadowsteps, lotsa of them.
Evades, evades everywhere.

How many games allow you to swiftly and constantly deceive your opponents with teleports, stealth and evasion? I couldn’t name more than one.

Condi removal complaints:

How to say this….Some classes are supposed to be able to do this well! Every class has a strength and a weakness. My favorite complaints are the people that think warriors can have best mobility in game, be super tanky, have high condi removal, and do extraordinary burst all at the same time. I will concede they can do 3 of these, but they still aren’t op…

No.
Every profession, if specced into it, should be able to beat any other, otherwise it’s not balanced.

If the standard engineer faces a condition necromancer, he’s likely to die in a matter of seconds. However just add an utility and the match becomes manageable.
I know you’re referring to people who cry over the fact some professions have too much removal, but my issue is that some professions truly lack condi removal even when fully speccing for it.

For example, take the thief.
One long CD ability removes 3 conditions, you’re forced to take a heal rather than another to deal with bleeding, burning and poison (and still, once every 30 seconds).
And the traits are “meh”, one condition every 3 seconds of stealth won’t drop your dozen stacks of bleeding before they do some serious damage.
Now, if a mesmer picks mantra of healing along with mender’s purity, voila, no more conditions! Or nullfield! Or the disenchanter (which is incredibly underrated)!

Thieves have very minimal condition removal which means the Condition Engineer is essentially our bane of existence. However, you could http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fZAQNAoaVlsMpwplOx7J0PNBNBt9EGeI4uGrYGaFAA-TJRJwAAOFAcfCA/KDoa/BA if you want to maximize condition removal. Not the strongest build imo, but it lets you fight Condi Engi a bit better.

Hard as it for players to accept, this game and most class based games are set up like Rock<Paper<Scissors. Thief is a rock to glass builds and boon pumpers, but becomes paper against condition bursters (assuming opponent is scissors).

Well, maybe with condition removal sigils, all traits, hide in shadows, shadowstep and sword/dagger one might be able to deal with very strong condition damage.
Actually, when i first tried i completely ignored the sigils and just went for the default ones, which was a mistake seeing they were geomancy and critical%.

About the rock/paper/scissor setup… i can’t accept it being true as any class is supposed to be able to do everything in it’s own way.
Of course every build should have a weakness, i can’t pretend to go full 4 kit engineer and pretend to have high condition removal, but i should be able to pretend to build around it with any class, facing other downsides.

Now that i think about how the fights, almost every condition was applied with projectiles or grenades or bombs. Which means i could’ve reflected the projectiles and easily avoid the explosives, thing i didn’t do at all.

Well, my hope is to become a better player and to get my hands on condition duration reduction items while playing WvW.

How to deal with conditions?

ButterOfDeath.2873

Hi, i recently got back into the game after a long period and decided to roll a thief from scratch along with a friend (which is more experienced).

After some PvE’ing we decided to duel a little in PvP, i setup a basic stealth backstab zerker build pretending it’s still OP and face him 1v1. (he also chose the same build)

And it’s a fair fight, until he swaps out to condi engineer and keeps wrecking me.
(Pistol/shield, grenades bombs and toolkit)

So, instead of withdraw and basic backstab, i go into the shadows with all the condi removal skills and items and i pick a sword too.

So, even while spamming my 2 and condi removals i keep getting crushed by conditions. Not to mention my sword would hit like a wet noodle against him. ò.ò

Now, i know i’m a bad player, truly, but i had a fair time when mirroring him and i can kill svanir in the mists (or any profession npc) with ease, eventually getting hit a few times.
Thus i really wonder what i did wrong or if there is something i could’ve done to put myself in a better situation.
For instance, i had no problem dropping his conditions with my mesmer using only the disenchanter alone. ò.ò

Is this a good necromancer build?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ButterOfDeath.2873

ButterOfDeath.2873

I don’t think it is,at all.
Cause you take Death Shiver, Reaper’s Might should perform better than Signet Mastery if you only have one signet.

You also take epidemic when not having condition damage.
Rune of the necromancer is wasted.
You chose no secondary set and the bleeding rune isn’t optimal.
Spectral armor is removed when switching to death shroud (thing it seems you want to do alot)
Deathly invigoration is kinda wasted.
You can’t proc the heal passive and vampirir marks when in death shroud.
Also, without no points into Soul Reaping, Death Shiver is wasted .

If you want to focus on death shroud, invest in soul reaping and instant heals.
If you prefer direct damage, soul reaping+life blast bonuses hurt alot.

Max Swiftness?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ButterOfDeath.2873

ButterOfDeath.2873

If you mean swiftness uptime, some professions can reach 100%
If you mean max speed, then it’s +33% using some abilities, like slick shoes as engineer.
edit
The above is caused by a bug:
“Super speed does not exceed the blanket speed cap of 33% out of combat, 25% in combat”

Without that bug,the maximum would be a bonus 100%

Newbie Question: Race and Profession

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ButterOfDeath.2873

ButterOfDeath.2873

Race doesn’t really matter as the only practical difference are elite skills. (which often aren’t good anyway)
In this game it’s not about going tank, dps or healer,it’s about doing something more or less.
Tank here equivals to bunker, AKA a character able to sustain a long fight and winning by attrite over a long time.
Healer here equivals to support, AKA anything that improves nearby players in any way.
DPS here equivals to zerker or condition characters able to dish out sustained and/or burst damage for quite higher numbers compared to others.

This actually means you can “tank”,“support” and “dps” With ANY profession available.

Generally, people who say “zerker is the only way” only care about speedruns and they’re often covered by thougher allies, also this just applies to Pve. In PvP going pure zerker gear is like asking to die.
This happens cause in PvE mobs are stupid and predictable,in PvP players can choose their tactics against you.

You’re new,but you’re not new to MMOs,often playing a burst class,so you should feel perfectly fine with any profession.
However, for PVE i feel Warrior,Guardian and Ranger have quite an easy time.

But since you’re used to bursty characters, you may enjoy rolling a thief…or a mesmer.
Additionally elementalist and engineer will provide a more difficult (yet rewarding) experience.

I’ve been seeking an answer already on the forum but…no way. Everybody states pretty much different things about every single thing and it seems the next patch will bring some chaos.

Sorry if it has been asked before, but i’ve really no clue as i’ve not been in touch since the super adventure box,i still have those gems lying in my inventory hehe.
From what i remember Warriors had a few OP builds,Warrior and Guardians were really good in pve, ranger cried cause of the beastmaster bunker nerf, mesmer got chaos armor effect dumped(that patch really crushed my bunker build),necro was useless, enginer was ‘OK’ , ele and thief on a good spot.

I bet much has changed/will change…

Is Guild Wars 2 dying??

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ButterOfDeath.2873

ButterOfDeath.2873

This is the kind of question that forces me to log in.
How do you even estimate if a server is dying? OFC,you check how many players are online. However, when the game was launched there has been an obvious spike in players,so technically every game is dying,AND THAT’S NORMAL.
Now i’d ask you: Are you dying? Unless you’re kinda old,the normal answer would be no,instead we start to die as soon as we’re born, just like videogames.

Which means the statements:
1) “The game is not dying” is FALSE as every game dies slowly over time from release date
2) “The game is dying” is OBVIOUSLY TRUE as it couldn’t be otherwise.

People shouldn’t argue about a game dying or not,but about player density.
My personal opinion about this is that we’re just pretending too much from a game.
How do we except a game to give a sense of reward if it rewards us for every little action; How can we except a game to make us proud of obtaining something if it promises to allow players obtain anything with relatively low effort? (Hi legendaries threads)

The issue is that exceptations are too high, people fool theirselves you can go professionhere And do something completely unique, thinking pretty much every choose is good as long as they follow a rule of thumb.
Then people awake and realize there aren’t billions of abilities and traits, there is another professionhere playing just like them somewhere else and a “kitten bow just shoots arrow”.

This either leads people to check other classes and get into a vicious cycle of wether one is better or worse of another…
Or people just deals with it…
Or people just leaves the game straight away.

In the first case, you’ll never get out until getting 8 characters at level 80 with full gear for any situation and style.
In the second case you’ll either like it or hate it in the long run.
In the third case, you’ll always wonder what the issue was/is.

TLDR;
It’s not game dying or not dying,it’s player density.
The true issue is that people fool theirselves and don’t “feel” the game anymore.

Grenade kit is hardly worth using until you can trait for it, possibly try a combination of ft/eg and rocket boots. Try taking medkit as your heal as well, this way when combined with the eg you also have two condition cleanses on relatively short cooldowns to get rid of the burn. The added mobility between acid bomb, rocket boots and jump shot on rifle should be more than enough. If you find yourself in a spot where that much movement is a hindrance like around cliff edges and the like, try taking toolkit and pistol shield for the extra blocks. That being said, engi is a lot like mesmer in that it is very trait dependent and early on it is in my opinion considerably weaker than some other professions but it greatly improves once you can fill out your trait trees some. Personally for pve, I almost always advocate damage stats over survival stats because the survival stats rarely will keep you alive against anything that matters (meaning anything that can one shot you in zerker gear will also one shot you in toughness gear) so being able to kill faster is actually a better defense. Of course I just now realized that at level 18 you won’t have access most likely to all of those kits but I am not going to retype it all because it is still pretty sound advice in my opinion for once you can get to those kits. Engineer weapons, such as the rifle or pistol tend to not do very good damage on their own, and usually only become viable to use solely once you can get the traits to support them such as a rifle sd burst build or a pistol hgh condition build, by viable I mean killing things in a timely efficient manner. Best advice may be to simply try and come back to the reactor after you have leveled a bit more and have more traits and tools at your disposal.

Actually i’m already over-levelled,it’s be a shame if i’d need more levels to clear it.
And i find it funny how people complain about mesmer’s first 30 levels while engineer’s are MUCH harder.
I’ll dump the thoughness/vitality for power/condition damage and i’ll stick to bomb kit for a while.
P.s. i’ve already the medikit with me for the extra heals and the swiftness.

“Only level 18” is your issue. Is your gear up to par? What level gear do you have? – Try turrets for leveling as well, rifle turret is great for PvE IMO.

feet gear is 9,all other is 16-17. From armor to weapons. I use copper rings and earrings with +power and + condition (2 and 2).
I’ve been running around with many setups but i seem to prefer Turrets in sPvP than PvE..weird! x)
Btw,about the example fight,i had the grenade kit and the battering ram (i love the ram -).
P.s. I also find strange how, even with a thief,i can survive better than with my engineer.
I’ve also tried mesmer and ele, both seemed MUCH MUCH more survivable :x
I mean, everyone says mesmer’s levelling is slow and hard, compared to the engi,it’s been a blast…kitten is happening? XD

Hello,i’m having a really weird issue with the engineer:
I’ve tried all the professions in pvp and closed the spread to just a few, just to then pick the engineer.
I’m level 18 by now and i’ve done a good amount of PvP with him…however…
It’s strange,i feel like i really lack damage 8except when using the bomb kit) and survivability…Even tho i had no issues in PvP.
An example?
I’ve been doing the skill challenge near thaumanova’s reactor, with 3+ levels of advantage and all abilities ready, plus, food and almost the best gear i could equip (as i always do 100% completition i’ve lots of crafting materials).
The 3 fire elementals shoot me an AoE,i dodge out taking barely no damage, shoot back with grenades and grenades toolbelt, keep attacking for some time and almost kill the 2 minor elementals.
Then, the veteran one attacks me,once, with a quick attack, dealing me HUGE damage (i even had thoughness and vitality gear, wth) and by the time i use my heal the other two elementals drop me,luckily conditions kill them and i am rallied,i heal and keep fighting.
On the next attack the elemental drops me to <10% hp and burn kills me. WTF?
I could understand if i was using any other gear,or a scholar,or not dodging and stuff like that…but i’ve been using thoughness gear, with two vitality pieces and a healing food,i’ve dodged the most dangerous attacks and handled well my usual combo.

While someone would then say “you’re definetly doing something wrong”,i can disagree as:
1) I’ve NO ISSUES with all other professions. (from eles, thieves, mesmers to warrior and guardians)
2) I’ve been doing really well in sPvP,using a 4 kits build yet being able to chain off abilities, even not having much experience with the engineer. (wich means: handling backstab thieves, cleansing conditions, chaining fields and finishers and that kind of stuff)

So what is going on?
I’ve also noticed that the weapons’ damage is much lower than other professions’…wich is weird, only the bomb kit is on par.
I can understand the Engineer’s weapon do less damage because they’re ranged (i’m talking about #1 here, taking in account full conditions applied too) but i’d then except a damage drop-off,with higher base damage…or just more consistent damage.
Same applies to FT’s #1,it’s really crap in PvE!

So here’s my question: Has the engineer been nerfed in PvE or something like that?
Because the profession performs MUCH better in PvP…

Definetly Sylvari Elementalist. Eles get not-so-good elites and sylvari’s ones are great.
As thief, personally,i’d pick an Asura…but i’d make only Asurans so…….yeah.

1. Plan to stick to PVE, dungeons and light PVP
2. Love soloing things that aren’t meant to be soloed
3. Would love a class that can run fast (Swiftness) or has a lot of mobility
4. Would like to bring a respectable amount of group support to a team while dungeoning

1) So no WvW? K,thief is out.Definetly.
2) Warrior,Guardian,Ranger are the best suited for this, Engineer and Necro do such thing well too.
3) Anything except mesmer for this one.
4) Elementalist,Guardian,Mesmer,Engineer,Necromancer bring all huge group support.
Elementalist has AoE heals and aura share builds.
Guardian,well,the name speaks for itself.
Mesmer can spread boons all around
Engineer can provide CC,healing, conditions and boons
The Necro spams conditions on any enemy, while healing others and providing varions boons and condition removals.
The Warrior has shout builds and banners.
The Ranger has spirits (many underestimate spirits, they’re powerful).
The Thief has AoE stealth,a LOT of support through venoms and is an excelent reviver.

@Guzzi:
What if anet checks and says “oh,look! it seems this user has been spamming the 1 key at strangely regular intervals, having ping’s precision!” wouldn’t that be suspicious then?
+FYI i’d not use AHK or those stuff,as i’ve a steelseries mouse and a good logitech one.

@Esplen:
IF you can’t grip your fist, cause you feel pain, then you can’t say you don’t get pain.
And i play LoL since…almost 3 years yet nothing, same for everyone i know.

I play my engi without fastcast.

You’re not a grenadier then!
If you are,well,uhm…kitten?

I’m not? My piano fingers say otherwise.

SO,you’re telling me…you use the grenade kit, frequently, without fast ground targeting, without any finger-saver macro AND you don’t have carpal tunnel yet?

Holy piano fingers,i bet you can smash a wall with them.

Turn on Fast Cast Ground Targeting.

Pressing a key will cast it where your mouse is.

facepalm
The issue is having to spam the skill button over and over,i’ve fast targeting since i bought the game.
With fast targeting,it’s a pain in the kitten.
Without it’s a suicide.

" if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions."
Indeed: The macro would only repeat one keypress, but over and over.
This means the action itself is looping one keystroke, not doing multiple (and thus different) keystrokes.

That’s why i’m really wondering, plus such script wouldn’t give any advantage to me except keeping my hand healthy…awkward… :x

Using a macro to spam one skill over and over (See: engineer grenade kit autoattack) to save myself from carpal tunnel IS or IS NOT allowed by Arena Net?
Plus if possible link any source that proves your answer

Hello people,i just started thinking about a cool idea: why the next major patch doesn’t include a music-related living world event?
OFC not a musical crap, but it’d open to a few cool ideas like:
Instrumental weapon skins (guitar greatsowrd? Drum shield?)
Speaker backpiece (in a similiar fashion to engineer’s hobo sacks) wich plays music when typing /dance…
A guitar/electric guitar/electric keyboard/electric kitten key guitar asura manufacted…on the gem store…that’d be amazing -

On the verge of a breakthrough!
Really,does that flip only me?
Whenever you greet an Asura, you’ll either hear “Excelsior!” or that phrase…
Being succesfull seems to be an asura’s given x)

What a bookah. Of course we’re all on the verge of a breakthrough! We’re all geniuses (though, I’m by far more gifted than anyone else, except maybe Zojja…) compared to your bookah, and it is only to be expected that we will make a new breakthrough at any moment. I don’t expect you to understand (anything), so it comes as no surprise to me that you aren’t capable of grasping this elementary concept.

By the way, “Excelsior” does not mean what you appear to think it means. It is simply an expression of exuberance for learning. Please adjust your own reactions accordingly.

Hmm… Perhaps I should schedule time to explore new methods of educating bookah, but I’m not certain that would be a valuable use of my time. In fact, I’m almost certain it wouldn’t be.

I guess an “of course because all Asurans are geniuses!” would suffice as explanation…without all that effort to make an exuberant message x)

Nice idea to actually use the title your character gets in your name. Even more so since before that he’ll run around as the self-proclaimed snaff prize contest winner, which suits asura perfectly. 10/10

Well for some reason I’m not able to think of any serious asura names so I named my asura engineer:………

Edd Omic Boom

well at least the name Edd ‘sort of’ fits asuran lore..

I like your name 8/10

My asurans are:
Technologist Keppa
and Infiltrator Gizza
Respectively being an engineer and a thief

It’s not a bug. I’m sorry that you dislike having your ears move about, but that’s what tends to happen with ears.

I find it extremely funny instead-imo crazy floating ears fit an engineer much more than standard boring ones.

Go for Engi. Most versatility, fewest weapons in your inventory, and can try different builds out without too much loss from not retraiting.

Honestly, it does seem like you’re looking for something that doesn’t exist. You want a profession that can do everything, and with a single trait point allocation set-up, allowing you to respec without paying for retraiting. You’ll be better served paying the 4s to reset your traits and earning it back gathering 20 mithril nodes. Then you won’t be limiting yourself.

Probably MY profession doesn’t exist.
Every profession claims to do,good or bad, pretty much any role in the game.
However such thing is achieved with too different tools.
A thief can tank? Sure thing! But he does that in an evasive way, wich is what makes a thief tank damage for himself and himself only.
I’m not looking for the perfect profession,i’m looking for a profession that’d give me no regrets.
If the thief had some kind of true damage mitigation and a few AoE skills,it’d be my main already.
Also,a few AoE skills and a little of damage mitigation, then properly counterbalanced, wouldn’t make the thief OP,just a little more proficient in more roles.

Aaanyway,i’ll try off the engineer,i must agree it’s a more solid “starter” character.

Engi stealth isn’t quite on-demand. I’d recommend Engi or Ele as they have higher skill ceilings than the other classes, which means that you can keep learning for a lot longer.

That also means if i’m going to make a 2nd profession (i plan to do them all ;D) i’ll also have a better starting ground…i like the idea.

I’d say i’m between Engi,Ele and Thief then.
as:
All 3 have many different builds
All 3 can keep the same trait lines to accomodate more playstyles
All 3 have a rather high skillcap (yes the thief too,i’d not be a terribad HS spammer OFC!)

(I’m including thief in the list cause stealth on-demand isn’t nothing to joke about…i mean, the thief has countless downsides, but all that stealthing is REALLY attractive, but so are conjured weapons, kits, turrets, elixirs…)
