I don’t quite understand them, or the armor. The item you buy is a consumable… so you double click to apply to a weapon.
Does it just put a sticker of the guild logo on the weapon/armor you buy it for, or does it replace the entire skin of the item with the PvP Guild armor/weapon look?
Also, does anyone know where to find (if they exist) screenshots of such items? As an Ele wanting to support my guilds presence, I would love to see just how a logo can fit on a staff. I understand if no one else has jumped out on a limb to try these things, everyone’s saving coin for other important things so not expecting a whole lot of feedback on it but still hoping.
OT:
Still here? With so many important things you have to tell the devs? Godspeed pal.Back in topic:
“The point is that the stone is a gold sink ok fine, but being already a cost it shouldn’t have any further drawbacks, that is losing what you earned already.”Better have the styles saved likes inks, pretty ordered, without cluttering bank/inventory.
Then when you want to apply the style you buy a stone as you do now and you get the desired cosmetic effects.
When you grow tired of it, you buy another stone, use it and get a shiny new look.
Missing the previous look? Just buy another stone and use it, but if your earned styles were saved like inks, you shouldn’t re-farm to obtain the same exact styles you already earned before.
This is the point. Trolling free now
OT:
Of course the game have many more important problems, but these deserves their own proper thread.
All the major bugs I’d like to see them fix and complaints I have – they’ve all been addressed and are awaiting fixing… and I’m not opposed to new ideas having their own threads.
But inserting a wardrobe into this game just seems stupid to me. I get that there’s RPers and people who want to change their looks all the time. You can either invest money or time into the game to get all those looks – no one is saying you have to use T-stones. And if you want to use the stones to put awesome stats on different skins well, the cost is 3 items for 1 good one. In a game that has an economy not only is that balanced, but everyone collecting the skins permanently would mean that eventually no one needs to buy armors and then how do people that join 2-3 years down the road make coin to get on their feet. Should they be forced to sell to NPCs cause the rest of us have collected everything in a magic cupboard that doesn’t take up bank space?
The lack of foresight and balance into every suggestion I’ve seen put in this thread is what makes me dislike it, not the fact that people have ideas and want to voice them.
if you are ok, why are you on this thread?
Because there’s not only tons of better things for the devs to focus on… the changes proposed are stupid imo and I’m just trying to understand why trading 3 items for 1 kitten item is such a problem for all you children.
I’m sorry your parents must have spoiled you – this ain’t IRL though so nows a good a time as any for you all to earn your own keep.
You don’t read me, your fault. Go back to primary school, learn to read.
don’t focus on gold or RM, that it was there just to say things correctly
I’m having trouble understanding this part, why not clear it up for me. How is it that you – with your higher level of education – can’t clearly say what problem you have with the trans stones is without using false terms.
Can you not say things correctly without lying about the cost of things? That certainly makes me feel like I’m the one with the higher level of education so lets see if I can get to the heart of the matter.
You – and everyone else crying about this system – don’t feel that trading 3 items for 1 item you want (aka the perfect look with the best stats) is a worthwhile investment. You feel that for the cost of a single item (the stone) you should get 2 items with inversed stats (or perhaps you want more and both skins should have the best stats for the cost of 1 item, hard to tell).
If I’m wrong about that please clarify and try not to throw in the terms RM, Gold, or Time since all three are perfectly viable CHOICES of how to get ANY of the items required for this process.
Sorry if you miss my point, don’t focus on gold or RM, that it was there just to say things correctly, in fact trans. stones are items featured on the gem store, it is not available from in-game merchants for gold
The system requires
A – 1 source style item
B – 1 target stat item
C – 1 transm stoneSo you start getting A and B which both requires time and dedication, then you spend for C gold or RM, it is not important, they are just time and dedication too.
before the transmutation after the time and dedication you own
- 2 styles
- 2 items for stats (assuming the stats are different)
- the stoneafter
- 1 style
- 1 item for statsThe point is that the stone is a gold sink ok, but being a cost it shouldn’t have a drawback, that is losing what you earned already.
So actually it is not a gold sink, it is a con, a life sink.
PS: Ahhh…… and yes, it might be a my problem, would you want me to shut up because you’ve decide that, ah!
I used 2 Fine transmutation stones today… stil got 13 more as well as 32 basic trans stones now. Please oh please find where my account was charged any real money for these stones because I could’ve sworn I got them all from black lion chests (for free) and as completion awards for 100 percenting zones… it’s not a RM sink unless you choose for it to be.
I repeated what I already said because you still believe that category C – the trans stone… can only be acquired through the gem store. That is entirely and utterly false, as I have said, and putting time into the game can earn you those just as well.
You can spend the time, to get 2 styles, 2 stats, and one stone and as a result get 1 style+stat combination for zero cost aside from the time you put in.
Please, feel free to completely ignore my more valid argument on the matter yet again…
But the current system it is destructive, and also requires you to spend some gold/RM in it, so it look pure sadistic to me from a design point of view.
I used 2 Fine transmutation stones today… stil got 13 more as well as 32 basic trans stones now. And it’s not a gold sink it’s a time sink. You want to buy skins then it is, but all the best stats can all be found on dungeon armor so again, it’s only a gold sink if you choose it to be.
You can choose to get any stats for your armor in this game by spending time in it, end of story. The rest is optional and if that’s your problem then it sounds like it’s just that – YOUR PROBLEM.
Second time I’ve seen the lemon analogy, kinda weird since it doesn’t compare to the situation at all. This situation is more like Diet sodas used to contain aspertame and it was a health concern so now they all taste like that garbage splenda…
I don’t want this game to taste like splenda… the FoV is fine and the people that get sick should play shorter periods with their eyes not glued to the screen. I mentioned it before in another thread but people have played games with limited FoV for ages now and they’re not sitting here complaining about it because their bodies have adjusted to it.
Give it time, spend more time crying here if you start getting a headache then get some fresh air and you should be able to get back to the game without the problem for a while. Children get weened off habits all the time – adults need to learn some self control that’s the only problem I ever read in these threads.
Still interested in the game certainly…
Wish a couple of things worked better, wish that the time I spent in game felt more rewarding as well. But still having fun and whilst the last patch was more depressing than helpful I don’t consider it to be a downhill trend so going to remain active.
All any of those pieces will cost you is 2 days doing each path ONCE
I am not in a hurry but at the same time there is already far more that I want to do in this game then I have time for. I am not asking for easy unlocks for all gear. Having said that if I have earned the gear from a dungeon once I feel it should be a permanently unlocked skin and not a one time only use(if I wanted to apply the look to or have another look applied to it then it’s used up).
To clarify here I am not viewing the dungeons (or any other gear earning gameplay) as a ‘grind’ that I would not play if they did not provide rewards. There are just so many things I’d like to be doing in the game I don’t want to feel obligated to stay in one place.
MMOs aren’t supposed to be wrapped up in a month. If you’re not in a hurry no one is trying to rush you… or are you saying that you know exactly when your computer’s going to die and want to succeed in everything before that happens?
It’s not like everyone can spend even 4 hours a day on the game, but if others can put 32 hours (for example) into dungeons and get what they want why can’t you do that over a month long period and get the same stuff? You don’t have to have 20 copies of every skin this month do you? Play the game… the less time you spend here complaining the more skins you could be progressing towards without Anet having to redo a perfectly fine system.
I’m happy to hear that a thread I’ve posted in has been moved. So happy that I always want to know which one was moved where so I can see if new commentators have contributed anything different from what it was that was already brought up.
So… could you either have the notifications like, say which one was moved – or link to the thread not the section it was moved to? As it is, I could probably re-find my post faster without your notification… and if you’re not going to improve your coding for such things would you at least allow my account to disable those types of notifications so I don’t waste my time?
Thanks for the lack of foresight on this matter.
Shortbow skill number 5 is a shadowstep to target area with a blindness aoe for mobs within range. So if they can shoot from where you saw them to where they ended up then sure.
Thieves also have enough initiative to do this skill 2 times back to back, and the utility skill for shadowstep has a longer range. If I do two of the shortbow#5 and then the utility I can make it from the big fountain in LA to the mystic forge without taking steps (or pretty kitten close). If you’re on the server Jade Quarry and would like a live demonstration of Shadowstep feel free to send me a PM asking to meet up sometime.
Edit – actually that’s wrong since I can’t shadowstep over the water between the bridges by the mystic forge, but fairly certain I can shadowstep to where those two bridges split without taking any steps.
We’ve relaxed our anti-exploiting system for loot and events.
What does that even mean ?
Refers to the Diminishing Rewards system that nerfed results of people farming events continuously.
There is an option to turn it off and on whenever.
For us or them?

When your reply is that, your opinion becomes invalid.
funny because I thought the same thing about your conversation with yourself. This isn’t the place for you to seek psychological help buddy…
Does anyone else feel that the game has a really hard time deciding when someone is in combat or not?
I’m not going to lie, I’m lazy at times. There was this one skill point – when I was on thief -surrounded by mobs… so I shadowstepped into them, used the elite skill to summon to thieves which then attacked the mobs, used the heal skill to enter stealth and shadow stepped to the skill point.
Kinda just stood there, eventually the elite wore off or my help died, either way I was doing nothing and the mobs hadn’t chased me. I just stood at the skill point for about 5 mins wondering if the game was ever going to let me out of combat. Actually had to heal again and enter stealth, doing that apparently disrupted whatever aggro I had left so I could commune with that place of power.
There have been other instances where this occurred on my Ele where the mobs were dead and my conditions wore off, but I couldn’t change gear for about a min and a half cause the game still thought I was in combat.
Anyone else having these issues and if so please give examples, perhaps it’ll help Anet see if this needs adjusting, really hoping it’s not the way it’s meant to work forever as it stands.

Ok, I kid a bit, but it honestly just feels like the animals are in the game because that’s what is expected in an MMO. They don’t feel like they have been placed in a way that makes logical sense, or for any reason other than to give the player a false sense of a living breathing world.
The manner they were placed was so that there wouldn’t be excessive running between fights. It’s nice to see for a change that I don’t have to run between fights that if I so choose I can ranged attack a mob from where I last killed one and just continue my chain of death.
If you think the goal of any MMO is for wild animals to give a sense of ‘living breathing world" please let me know which one does so. Personally I feel the living breathing part stems from mobility of the people who need help. They don’t stand in one spot begging you to kill stuff, and they actually join in the fighting at times or duck and cover their head like a coward. The coding for the sentient races in the game make it feel alive, and on that I commend Anet.
From what I have been told (and it appeear that way to me too)
(1) its based on hits per second (not damage)
(2) The mob will move to who ever it hitting the mob, if the closest is a melee class, then it does not move but just keeps hitting that guy instead
(3) Using a shield means they have 2 choices to hit, they seem to like hitting shield more
(4) If the mob has more then one player in range, if one player is less then 25%, it will switch to ‘finish’
(5) reviving a char REALLY annoys them and they go for that player doing the revive first (if in range)This would explain why warrior or guardians keep aggro.
The list on the wiki cited above is much much more accurate than this one.
Which would explain how an Ele can constantly draw aggro for outdamaging warriors and guardians that try to tank the same mob.
As far as the OP is concerned, do all your members target the same mob when they run randomly at you or do you all just fight everything in sight making it random to begin with? If you all target the same mob and one person is closer than the rest to the adds they should be the one that ends up targeted not some random assortment.
I semi-support this, I worked hard for my Icon so the least that should be disabled would be on the minimap and not the icon above people’s heads. I know this may get annoying, but if you complain that the icons above people’s heads are annoying and want them removed, you may as well remove the icons from the merchants and karma merchants.
yeah all I’m interested in is turning them off for the mini map and world map. The UI is nice and clean, they’ve done a good job with the decluttered approach – so why are there constantly blue dots all over my maps?
totally agree with this suggestion
From what I understand selling content was the way they’re going to stay in business and continue to support the lives of those who code the game since it’s a group of humans (some surely with families to support) and not just a bunch of robots making the game.
I’m all for purchasing the expansions entirely, new content deserves compensation for the time spent making it. The fact that Events and stuff in the world will happen for free is a bonus and even if the expansions are free I’ll buy something else to help out the devs.
Side answer – a martial artist. It’s hard to face tank in this game so preferably something with a grappling line of utilities would be awesome. And lots of vigor boosts so I can be right in there bashing skulls and dodging the really bad stuff.
B) People around me never use combo fields I throw out. The auto attacks aren’t bad, but the fact I can drop a lava font that’ll continue to deal damage as I return to attacking makes me cast that anytime it’s not on CD and that’s just example 1. Why does no one else make use of the fact I always throw out combo fields?
My friend runs a support staff build, I run a condition / supportish / survival build in sPvP. I find his combos very useful, dragons tooth, he drops fire / water field, then I throw my phoenix at it and earthquake into churning earth teleport. With fire that’s between 10 to 15 stacks of might affecting a churning earth.
Obviously that’s a PvP situation, but even in pve with my ranger or warrior I’ll at least use the fields for charge shields where possible, and the coordinated stomp heal. However I have noticed that people around just do their own thing and ignore the fields. Playing with someone over skype or vent is the best way to get your combos effective though.
Yeah when I play with friends they tend to get that there’s almost always going to be combo fields on the mob so they play smarter and I get to see a bunch of those little “burning” “regeneration” “vulnerability” etc notifications… but running solo in the world I run across others and it almost seems like they avoid using the fields somehow.
Dude, I live in Canada. You think I have misconceptions about how moose and deer behave?
Deer at are closer to cities/towns tend to be a lot less timid than the ones you find in the wild. In the town of Banff for example, the amount of tourists that visit that place has virtually domesticated deer species and they will approach most people
Moose, on the other hand are tricky. More times than not, they will avoid human contact. The only time you really see them is when they happen to wander into a town, but event hen they’re pretty easily startled. The only time they’re really aggressive is during rutting season where they will attack anything they feel is a threat (my stepdads old car has the dents to prove it).
The point is, there are many other games (Skyrim for example) that have basic AI for animals that feels much more natural. The density in that game also feels much better and the occasional eye candy they provide makes that world feel really nice. In GW2, it’s a visual eyesore. Every single direction is filled with something.
They don’t need to spend time coding some crazy AI that would impress MIT, they just need to cut the density down, and add simple AI like..
Non-aggressive animal
- player approaches, take notice
- player gets closer, move away slowly
- player gets too close, run or aggressive display
- player attacks, attack backAggressive animal (predetory)
- player approaches, take notice
- player get closer, move away, or start stalking AI
- player is now being stalked
- player attackedAggressive animal (non-predetory)
- player approaches, move away
- player gets closer, display defensive behavior
- player gets too close, attackThen, up the strength, and reduce the density. Now, you have a world that is full of dynamic creatures with basic behaviors that somewhat mirror the real world. It allows the world to breathe.
If a player is trying to farm deer for leather, they now need to do a bit of work. The game could compensate by dropping a bit more leather or meat for the reduced animal count.
Lol simple AI… feel free to code that and send it to them – see how simple that really turns out to be. It might be cake compared to the rest of the engine but I’d much rather them fix other actual problems than make yellow mobs realistic. And if they can’t take the time to fix tooltips that have been broken since the first Beta, I wouldn’t expect them to jump right to work on that idea was my point.
To me the density is fine, drop rate is fine, realistic-ness doesn’t matter. Aggro range is the only problem so guess we’ll just disagree on what they should do to fix this.
What was your character’s name at the time of this incident?
Me? Why?
Personally glad that Anet’s not banning every report for bots… I was waiting for a friend selling stuff to a vendor on a path outside this fortress, and same pathetic ranger aggro’d 6 mobs and was running away from them. I saved his life and the battle took me off the path so when I was done I went back to the path to await my friend and they accused me of being a bot.
I did my best to help him understand he was just a moron, but wouldn’t surprise me if I’ve not been reported in other cases as well since not everyone seems to understand the concept of what a bot is. I mean how the hell would a bot recognize someone is being chased by 6 mobs and kill them all without taking damage? Some people should have the right to report taken away from them seriously…
He was trolling you and it sounds like you were successfully trolled. Bots don’t engage in conversation and by talking to him that should indubitably confirm that you are not a bot.
Pretty sure they actually thought I was a bot. But even if it was a troll doesn’t matter, the fact is people out there are stupid and will report anyone who does something then just stands around.
Really kinda depends, for me Ele is super easy PvE but that’s because I’m not afraid to use all the skills available to me and would rather avoid damage than sit there and tank.
Furthermore, it all depends on which personal story you plan to do. Heavy armor classes are best suited for the Vigil story since it’s about fighting everything in your way, whilst the Order of Whispers does focus a good bit more on activities than all out fighting so you might prefer a faster moving profession than a high damage/defense one.
Concerning the hearts and events, soloing is either easy or hard depending which one you do. Some events can’t even be completed with 2 people so… reccomendations based on that seem pointless.
You should just find out your playstyle and then stick with a class that matches it the best.
I suppose that they could be using a script to walk/jump off a high ledge and fall to their death to get revived, then the script pauses for the next to do so and they do the reviving before their script walks them back to said ledge and repeat.
Never thought of that being viable before – and got better things to do with my time than bother with it. But I do go out of town to visit my folks for weekends at a time and can see how people in similar situations could abuse such a concept to get XP whilst being a hundred miles away from their PC.
$^&$&*, what i don’t get is why ANet implements DR, but doesnt kittening detect someone pressing F once per second while not moving….thats how this bot works right now. One bot dies, the others just spam F to revive. 34exp per review.
Well they could also be in a party before implementing the script… ‘talking’ to each other via party chat thus increasing the number of keystrokes to a pattern that is over the limit of any detection Anet has implemented at the time.
You really should stop getting me to discuss this though. I rather enjoy finding loopholes and don’t want to proceed with giving ideas to others. Just get all your friends and whatever people on your server who will listen to go report them and you’ve done your part…

Some people are taking about how the animals aren’t realistic in the game now… that deer should run away at the sight of someone else? Shall I step outside and take a pic of the deer at my apartment complex that do nothing unless I get withing 5 feet of them? Furthermore why would a Moose run away just cause it sees someone? You do know that there have been Moose standing on railroad tracks that will stare down and attack trains yes? They have nothing to fear…
Your misconceptions of how animals ‘always’ behave amuse me. Could they be coded better perhaps, but they can’t be coded to be realistic simply because animals always act differently. And if you’re really expecting a bunch of people coding a F2P game to spend their time making yellow mobs have such an impact then I’d say to expect disappointment on that front.
Wow people seem so unimpressed with the elite skills… I don’t plan to use all the Elite simply because there’s a few really good ones I’ve found for each class.
My only complaint is that the selection of Elites for underwater use is too minimal. My thief for example, can only use Basilisk Venom. Yay I turned a mob to stone for 2 seconds? Just no… Elites are supposed to be awesome not like every other CC skill out there (and possibly weaker imo). Increase what we have available underwater because the selection there is pathetic.
Aside that there’s plenty of Elites that are just that, Elite. No one’s forcing you to use every skill in the game so stick with the good ones.
@ Corew (sorry for some reason the quote button randomly never pops up for me in these forums =S )
I agree that the stats are the same, thus when I can spend a few hours a day and over the period of two weeks get all those stats for any armor without spending a single gold (considering I play with a group of people who get better with practice armor repair costs dwindle over time – if I end up spending a gold over 2 weeks on armor repair someone was playing while asleep), I don’t see why I wouldn’t take the time to do so. There’s hardly any true Gold sinks in this game and people are too tunnel visioned to tell that.
Need to get my final set of armor for my level 80 still, but this class still does the best for me at present. Love most everything about it… only a few complaints I have.
A) I can’t change range in combat… if I start with a staff then I’ll never melee and as I can’t weapon swap in combat I’ve yet to unlock any skills aside from those for the staff or trident at level 80. It makes sense that the attunement swap is the weapon swap, but being locked in just makes learning the other skills that won’t be useful in every situation a waste of time.
C) Not class specific but in general it’s upsetting that ‘in combat’ speed is nerfed. I use signet of air to make up for the fact we move slower in combat than outside of it and there’s still mobs that get to move with a perma swiftness boon. Anet seems to have tried to make up for that by scripting (for example) the Risen Thralls to consistently try and attack my backside so circle strafing is good at avoiding damage… but unless they’re trying to make it easier for slow witted people I don’t get why the pace of the game has to be so slow in combat.
Any other complaints I have, have nothing to do with Ele’s at all so I’ll leave them out. Happy to see I can out damage most the other classes and looking forward to my final gear build that’ll make me a true glass cannon.
I don’t understand what the deal is… not really a big fan of the skins from dungeons though I’ll certainly farm them at some point for the stats.
The point of Transmutation is to take good gear’s stats and put them on skins you like. If you like the skins for said good gear then don’t transmute them… if you like the skins for good gear and want those stats on other armors why shouldn’t you have to get another set?
Afraid to earn yourself the armor again or something? It’s not a gold sink as mentioned above, it’s a time sink and nothing else. Personally have 11 fine and 21 basic transmutation stones and the most I’ve completed on a character is 35% world completion… so having a hard time believing that the stones can only be found via Gem Store as well.
The only thing I dislike about all the random beast adds is that they’ll chase me down twice as far as whatever objective I’m trying to complete at the time will. If I attack a Bandit guarding a roadblock, why would they left me off the hook sooner than some stupid bird? Logically makes no sense and really think that the max aggro range of yellow mobs should be shortened greatly.
As far as them getting in the way – they’ll burn eventually. I don’t let them get around to doing damage to me while I kill what I’m trying to kill and while they do happen around veterans I’ve yet to find a champion mob (the ones that actually pose a threat) that are surrounded by the yellow mobs. We can’t always strategically place our targets as the aforementioned suggestion because DE ranges exist… but until you start listing areas in those zones with mobs that can’t be solo’d because of the yellows I’d venture to say Anets done a decent job strategically placing the yellows.
Just wondering, it wasn’t a thief using shadowstep or a mesmer using blink right?
Because on my thief I do shadowstep between mining nodes. If I want to craft a character to level 80 I shouldn’t be forced to buy my mats off the TP or kill mobs imo… so I use the thief for that and can shadowstep near 2000 whatever they use for range identification without having to wait for initiative.
Yeah know the stuff you’re talking about… Air skill on staff called Gust says it would knockback enemies in front of you when it only affects single target.
And the Glyph of renenwal says it wil revive an ally (or allies) when all it will do is Rally players nearby.
Lots of tooltips brought up lots of times and nothings been done about them. Eager to see them take a day to go through these, sometime.
Was walking around a zone, saw someone say the following.
If a lone Sylvari falls in the forest, does it make a grunt?
I asked why it’s not yet done myself… then remembered the video on youtube where it showed what the company built up from and how they were managing at the current time.
Comparing Anet to Blizzard/Activizion is the mistake. Anet has done a good job bringing together a whole lot of game mechanics that are not only different from their past experiences but enhancements on other games they took influence from. Are the Dynamic Events bugged sure, but saying they’re nothing fancier than what Rift had is incorrect.
Complaints about the personal story not being personal enough? Sure the storyline seems to dwindle down to one point and I would love to join the Nightmare court instead of kill the same Dragon everyone else does… Trying to compare it to experiences you’ve had from Bioware is also a poor thing to do because of the experience Bioware’s had. And TOR being a more finished product on release makes me laugh… it was more finished because you could finish the game in a week? There’s nothing to TOR content wise, or course a company making an MMO of the same game they’re produced previously will do it faster, don’t be so proud of that point.
There’s a lot of room left for improvement, but comparing this game to other games when at their base it’s like comparing an apple pie to a shepards pie is foolish. If you’re going to complain about parts being broken that’s all fine and good, I can agree with those for the most part. All these people saying that Anet’s doing a bad job because other people have done things better in THEIR opinion, is just stupid. I would really appreciate this thread more if people would stick to what they’d like to see improved (ie the stories not being Personal for very long) rather than turning it into another WoW vs GW2 quarrel.
To make it short:
PvE? Yes! you will rock the kittening kitten out of every dungeon mob in about 2 seconds!
WvW? A lot of fun to nuke ppl on Castle walls but you’re pretty much kittened up in
any 1v1 Situation (had a thief killling me in 2 seconds allready >.> )sPvP? simply no! you will just cry…
Dungeon mobs….how would that go….well, thinking of AC, it would be “ele casts a spell, ele is one shotted”. Dungeons are not about damage, they are about durability as you cant deal damage if you are dead. Also – we dont get the damage dealing either.
Huh… I’m not going to lie I did die a few times more than my PuG when I first did TA. But I’m confused as to why you claim we don’t get the damage dealing since even though I died more I still killed more than anyone else on my party. Only reason I died more was because I did deal more damage and the mobs decided I needed to die.
Also there was two times our warrior decided he didn’t need to wait for the party to be ready so I went and saved him resulting in my death… needless to say next time I go through I’ll know what’s going on – die less – and as a result kill more.
Durability is for those unable to mitigate/avoid damage… and since this game’s not about tanking mobs I’m quite fine going Glass Cannon PvE and giving them less time to attack overall.
Btw, if you set up your Ele for durability and get one shotted you should probably watch for the animations leading up to major attacks, since I can set up as Glass Cannon and still take 3-4 hits before I die all I can assume is you let the hits that can one shot any class strike you.
Also you can just click the “My Story” icon in the hero menu for a complete recap on your personal story thus far, including which order you joined.
To further expand upon this option, the mission with the title “A Fragile Peace” is one that everyone goes through. If you view the mission listed just above this, the very last line of text (no matter the mission you were one) should say “I also joined the _ order”
This whole topic makes me feel like I play too many games or something…
because the ones who are affected by this most are the ones who have been playing games the shortest amount of time. You naturally adjust to everything in life, it’s called adaptation… if you’re unwilling to give yourself time to adjust to these things then you’re probably too impatient for an MMO to begin with.
My suggestion to those who get headaches or whatever but still wanna play the game – do so in shorter sessions. Nothing’s keeping you glued to the monitor for over 3 hours straight, get some fresh air for 15 minutes and grab a bite to eat… go back to the game and you’ll be fine.
Don’t think that has much to do with it to be honest. I owned one of the Home Pong game systems. Video games have been a hobby as far back as I can remember.
The FOV issue makes sense, however adjusting the gaming area in the mean time is probably going to be what is needed.
Yeah a tetris champ might still have headaches from the FoV simply because that game doesn’t have one, much like your Pong example. I’d love to hear complaints from people getting headaches that have played through the entire series of Doom, Unreal, Unreal Tounament, Quake, Half-life, Counterstrike, etc etc
You play games with limited FoV, adjust to it, become unaffected. People using the medical excuses as to why it needs to change simply need to give it time was my point – and the fact that people aren’t all playing with the same FoV makes things unfair so whether or not it should be increased isn’t the first problem that needs attention. Anet’s on the right path with this one far as I can tell.
The Pact is a shaky alliance at best. Plus, although the game mechanics have all gear at the same level equivalent. Story wise, they are giving you access to their stores of powerful magical equipment. And although in game you can buy it as many times as you want lore wise some of those items could be very rare or even unique artifacts.
Hmmm interesting. When I go to the vendors for the order specific armor they’re Weaponsmith and Amorsmith – not just vendor. It doesn’t feel like there are unlimited quantities at all as you say…
But the only uniqueness about them is that they feel to be made to order. Sure the Pact is shaky – will it fall apart in a future expansion perhaps and I can see getting to such a point in the story preventing you from buying future skins. But they still work together and as long as they do why are they so stingy? I’m up for a continued discussion on this, but don’t see where you can really give an angle to convince me there’s no way the other order’s skins shouldn’t be available for those at this point at this time.
So in order to preview what armor I wanted I tried to go to the orders before I joined any of them… and the vendor had me locked out because I hadn’t joined – had to got o the PvP locker to see what I wanted.
And yes because skins are important to me I wanted to base my choice of this. Question I pose is this – once the Pact is formed and all the orders are working together to kill Zhaitan, why are they so stingy?
“Oh you’re helping us kill Zhaitan? Glad to be working alongside you…” That ever happen? And if it did would they really reject helping out a fellow member of the pact who needed gear? Locking us out of skins is mean – and if you truly care about the lore is simply makes no sense. All of the Orders would do anything to kill Zhaitan and work together in the end so shouldn’t we after a certain point be eligible to buy the other armors from the vendors?
Assuming we’re talking about PvE here, so I’ll bring up CC skills no one ever seems to notice. Glyph of Elementals – while in fire both of them often times cripple enemy movement, while in ice enemies get chilled, while in air enemies get stunned. Seeing as there’s two of them and the Elementals do help tank for you (specially the earth/fire ones) as well as damage enemies they’re actually quite more functional than people give them credit for.
As a staff ele that’s solo’d up to 80 I can agree that it’s kite or die. However I can also start taking hundreds of screens where I see guardians failing to kite and dying thinking they can facetank if you really like. The game is set up for active dodging because you’re supposed to avoid damage or mitigate it through use of skills – not stand in one spot and hope the computer rolls a die in your favor.
If you don’t like it then go back to WoW kids.
Open the hero panel and the second tab on the left, the diamond they normally use for the stories… check that. If you’re already past the level 29 mission it’ll tell you what you did for the mission and hopefully who you helped. Not on the game so can’t say for certain. It’ll definitely say how far you are no matter what and if you’ve yet to collect the reward for 26 and choose the path for 29 you can still change.
Each order has it’s own armor set and yes you have to join the order to get the set from that order.
Though the final choice on which order you join is determined by what order you help on the leve 29 mission.
I think he’s asking if someone who has built a Glass Canon Ele thinks the DPS is worth dying in 2 hits…
I’ve yet to finalize my Glass Cannon build, and when I go afk I die in 2 hits. But when I’m trying to play I don’t feel as weak as everyone else claims to be and certainly find it fun. Are guardians and other classes easier to play and do more damage with less effort – sure. I enjoy seeing enemies chase me down and ignore guardians and others because they don’t try and I do more damage than them – always.
Not sure if I helped you any Dom, GL deciding.
@DesertRose – You realize that sigils that take effect on weapon swap are exactly the same as boons/etc that take place on attunement swap? Simply put – the traits and whatnot could have a minimum of 15 seconds (or whatever) before they can take effect again just like everything else in the game.
Personally, I’ve hit the wrong key on the way to a DE and even though it’s only 2 seconds to get to the right attunement (taking into account I meant to switch to air not earth for example), the fact there’s a CD outside of combat when the CD needs only be on the effects from swapping just like with every other class – is pathetic.

Mystic clover are account bound, so it would make sense that the other is as well though Wiki doesn’t say so.
Ah no I was correct whilst mistaken… the ravaging set is in the table about that with only the 2 stats.
And while I’ve never seen Rabid – I’m still more interested in the Rampagers set myself. Thanks though for clearing that up for me.
