Our aoe’s are fine imo…

Our splash might be making us OP though, fireball the autoattack on staff #1 – when it hits multiple enemies I usually see the same damage output on the ones I wasn’t targeting. If they turned that down a notch I would understand though it’d prolly affect the splash healing from water as well thus kitten off some other people (since concerning that we already have to use combo fields if we want any kind of impact at all).

But seriously, if more than one person stands on a lava font should our attack get nerfed because we do damage? That kind of thinking is backwards imo… Ranged is going to have less cost than melee but we sacrifice defense to deal tons of damage – if they nerf the damage we might as well not play ranged period.

When I view the tooltip on my skillbar it does indeed say 25% increase as per the update. Seems like there would be extra lines of coding involved for making several tooltip descriptions depending on where the skill shows up on the UI…

It’s your call devs, don’t get me wrong. Just a bit confusing when it’s patched and somewhat fixed. And not that this is literally a ‘bug’ just more misinformation in a game full of tooltips that aren’t accurate. Just thought I’d bring it to your attention.

Signet of Air

How do you get perma-swiftness on S/D or S/F?

Inscription as a trait in the air line, then put your healing skill and about 2 other skills on your bar as glyphs then use them in air.

You guys really work for your ‘perma’ swiftness on D/D it seems… you realize that if you use the above mentioned method you can sit there and find out that boons applied to you won’t go over 2 mins in length. At least I was able to find that out when I got bored and just kept using the glyphs when they came off of CD (including air #4 on staff).

No matter how hard you try can’t stack up more than 1 min 59 secs (at most) of swiftness.

Wow people really don’t like this skill it seems…

Just a question though – if someone was starting a new Ele and hadn’t made it to level 50 where they can first get inscription (and to my knowledge the earliest perma swiftness) would you still recommend other skills over this?

Additionally as a Staff user, this skill is still quite nice because Air attunement is simply too situational… if I’m running with a bunch of people doing DE there’s usually no point in entering this attunement because it’s better to just kill the mobs than bother with Static field. I still support the element swapping don’t get me wrong, but think that the title of ‘uesless’ still belongs to conjures and that our signets overall are fairly top notch.

I don’t know what the deal is, but I can speculate if you like?

Perhaps the Icon incorrectly reflects it as an armor repair man – I don’t know why (from either direction) one would travel to that location for repairs, considering there’s no waypoint or easy access to it.

Perhaps instead it’s meant to be a vendor icon, and related to a jump puzzle quest akin to the one in LA that’s past the vista behind the hay bales? Then you’d have to look for less obvious ways to enter…

Even if that were the case I don’t know how it would help you any, nor can I refer you to gw2cartographers.com since they don’t show anything on it either. All I can do is wish you luck.

but the last several times I’ve been in a party and a kick has been initiated it wasn’t there so I figured my memory from when I joined the party was throwing the red circle into random other memories of people being kicked.

Good to know it’s not working as intended as well =S

Lol it’s mentioned above that Jade Quarry is a popular server… that’s true because we’re second in WvW.

http://i48.tinypic.com/27yvdwg.jpg

That there is me soloing the Meta event in Caledon Forest on Jade Quarry, saddest part is people standing by the TA dungeon can see the event notification which just goes to show that with the new gear tier – there’s nobody doing old dungeons or low level PvE on my server.

And trust me, as that boss eats his minions I can say I was fighting it near on 15 mins and only one person walked up to help finish the fight in the last 3-4 minutes. There’s no one PvE here, high pop servers aren’t any better than the low pop ones. Good luck to you all looking for a PvE experience in this game =(

Tarnished Coast player here. The other day I decided to randomly check up on the Mount Maelstrom meta event. Turns out it was up. I put out a call into map chat with no response, so I decided to work on it solo. Ten minutes later sixty people were defending the objective and after another five minutes even more fought the Megadestroyer boss.

Moral of the story is anecdotal evidence isn’t worth jack.

Anecdotal evidence isn’t worthless, yours just proves that people play PvE on your server when you’re online. Mine proves the opposite.

Moral of the story – it’s great to provide feedback but assuming you know everything is moronic, stick to relaying the information you can validate.

One last note: I have only experienced this once, but a popping sound like the one you described occured to me while running VLC media player while also playing the game. Stopped when i closed VLC.
Sounds like some nasty debugging you are doing there q:

The only thing I run in the background is my browser (Chrome) for checking on Dragon Spawn timers… aside from the things that are active and never really present (iTunesHelper, DivXUpdate… things of that nature).

What exactly is VOIP ‘ducking’? It seems when I have this at default and not all the way to 0 I get the popping sounds… Would that even have an effect when no software (like Teamspeak) is running?

It’s what happens when you play with an online community, humans are by nature horrible beings. It would be really nice if there was a game where everyone who interacted with others were kind and understanding… but it doesn’t exist and there’s no true way to make such a game.

The only option we have is to get to know a few trustworthy folks and let the kittens play with each other. If you’re unwilling to take this route an MMO is really not for you – because even if the Devs were to go with your suggestion and prevent kicking members from a party in an instance… we’d find folks who spend their time going into dungeons just to troll others since they couldn’t be kicked.

Imagine if your party almost wiped, and the one person who could rez you all instead of making you run to a waypoint got you from defeated to 98% rezzed and then left you there. Would you enjoy it? Being able to kick people is as much in out interest as it’s annoying – I could continue to think of scenarios pro and con your suggestion if you like but really think you’d be better off spending your time in game finding some good folks instead.

Bumping is not allowed, ( )but I might have a suggestion: If you have sound quality on max, try lowering it one tad. Some people reported that solved it. I have nothing to back it up though.

That has to do with the Siren like sound people have been experiencing, I’ve read those threads… and I tried it to see if my problem was similar but it’s not the case.

As I stated in my original post I get this sound even when the master volume for the game is set to 0… I guess I have to try playing the game with all the bars at 0 moving them up one at a time until I start hearing the noise again. Then I can actually submit a report on something they can look into =S

I’ve been playing Ranger a bit since this weekend, gotten it to level 21 so far and as I’m hoping to go Bear form with my Norn, have been collecting all the bears I can. I’ve noticed that when a bear’s health does get low (ie trying to solo 2 DE at the same time in Kessex) I can swap it out with the other bear and the mobs are usually dead before the second bear’s health gets low enough to worry about.

The 2 DE I found myself soloing happened to be the escort to Kessex Haven (I believe) overlapping with the Bandit roadblock if anyone’s interested in trying that out themselves… I love challenges like that.

Crafting has always been something I don’t get the hang of…

I figured I would level the professions I enjoy playing and then once they all hit 80 and I’m likely burnt out from leveling I can take my time to learn the crafting. This way extends the amount of time I put into the game – allows me to gather tons of mats before I start, and prevents having to pay into a gold sink just to have all the professions available to me.

Though if you don’t spend weekends at a time playing the game you might not get burnt out, and thusly not have given this approach any thought until this point.

I tried browsing some thread complaining about sounds and couldn’t find anything related in the search… closest I could find was people talking about a loud siren like noise that made them restart the client.

I’ve given it time as I’m not sure how I would go about reporting this as a bug. I’ve played 5 different classes since headstart and it’s not related to any of them in particular and it’s persisted to this day.

I’ll be going along doing whatever (DE, running through town, standing at the PvP locker browsing articles of clothing, pretty much everything and this has happened) and I’ll get excessively loud pops, I would say it sounds like an in game cannon should be going off but it reminds me more of a cap gun.

It constantly goes off at full volume no matter what I put the master volume slider bar at – even 0. The only way I’ve gotten it to stop is to actually move every single slider to the 0 position. I haven’t gone through and tested to see if there are any and/or multiple I can keep at a higher level of volume because until today I’ve just listened to outside sources of music and left it all off. I kept checking it from time to time over the course of the last 3 months now… is anyone else having this issue and if so can you direct me to further discussion and/or the resolution for the matter?

Thanks for your time.

Stowing of Ranger Pets suggestion...

Bvhjdbvkjf.1987

Dear Anet,

It’s not your fault – if someone dies because they stowed their pet, they need to start using their brain. You don’t need to code it so that every time we change from land to underwater combat (and vice versa) our stowed pets come out. You don’t need to code it so that if we take a single point of falling damage our pets come out. The option to stow our pets is a very nice idea and I would love to complete a city zone such as Lion’s Arch without having to re-stow my pet over a dozen times. It’s hard enough to see around my Norn to begin with…

If you’re truly unwilling to change your code and let morons die because they forgot to un-stow their pets, could you at least give us the option to have pets stowed in city zones as a default?

Personally I would love to challenge myself in combat against certain mobs without my pet, so the option to stow a pet through battle would be quite nice. Then I don’t have to wait for it to die and chase me around looking for a rez when I’m interested in making the game tougher to play.

In short, I just think your current system needs to be re-thought since it’s simply annoying in it’s present state. Thanks for your time.

I played FFXI a lot, not consecutive though. I got bored and the only reason I kept coming back was because friends kept playing it. I have to say the ‘grind’ that everyone loves doesn’t appeal to me… in fact in FFXI the grind was so much I didn’t play large portions of the game.

So if I had to say what makes me come back it’s because I had fun, at the times I played whether I was solo or with friends I was having fun. When it wasn’t fun I stopped.

I’ve definitely not been playing this with the intensity that I did that game, but tis due to the lack of a subscription fee. If I’m not wasting money then I don’t feel bad about coming back in a day or two. For me the fun still exists in this game, and I don’t have to bother with a grind since it never appealed to me in the first place – that’s why I’ll keep coming back to this game.

Well, so long as the new content remains playable – any more of this ‘requires ascended’ bullkitten and I might stop. Old content has a replay value but it’s not infinite.

Are people seriously still gripeing over this? It’s a promotion! You get absolutely nothing new but the hat, which gives no benefit at all. And you’re really going to complain about a Christmas sale? That’s like going to Wal-Mart in December after having bought a game in November and demanding a refund because it suddenly went on sale. Get over it, people!

Actually if it’s within a week (or two, don’t recall since it’s been that long since I’ve done this) and you bring your receipt as proof of purchase, Walmart will give you the difference in cost back.

On topic – I can understand why people would want the upgrade for being loyal… however I also understand the dev’s desire to bring more people in via discounted deals.

Some posters have said we get a whole lot of stuff since we’ve been loyal, but personally minatures don’t interest me the fact they get an Elite skill does. I’ve not gotten to use it so I don’t know whether it’s useful or not (and won’t be taking other’s “word” on it as no one can even agree which of the elites we have now are useful). I would love more variation in my skills – even more so if it turns out to be a decent Elite. Why is it new players who haven’t even had to deal with the fact our selection of good Elite skills is minor get access to this skill whilst the ones who have stuck through thick and thin get nothing?

I think the only reason they have it this way now… is because they can’t change it without breaking the game.

I’m in the middle of fighting a group of mobs, I use a skill with a cast time and meanwhile a condition I applied kills a different mob causes me to level up. The process of leveling up then negates the fact I started a skill and said skill goes for full CD.

Basically what I’m saying is they feel it’s more important for people to actively see their character throw their hand up in the air with some swirly effect added to it – than proceed with any other action up to that point.

If they did try to change this, we’d likely have to do several roll backs because they can’t fix normal bugs without causing major issues as it is – changing something that would affect the entirety of the game is probably out of their league.

edit – simply to clarify the aforementioned scenario, kinda left half a sentence out ^^;;

What exactly would make weapon swap OP?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Bvhjdbvkjf.1987

Bvhjdbvkjf.1987

Well depending on your build, if you had a weapon swap and enough invested in fire then swapping weapons would give you 10 skills that you can have maxed out damage on. If you invest in Water then weapon swap would make the Ele an actual Healer allowing people to start forming traditional trinity groups again.

The game is set up to force players into attunement swap, they want us to be a jack of all trades and master of none. If they granted us an in combat weapon swap – they would have to nerf all our individual skills and/or the traits to enhance the attunement trees in order to keep players from focusing too heavily into one aspect and thus break their design.

Ps the guy that said Mes as tank build cant do much damage and so your force into a rang build.

He a Kitten(sorry but it true) don’t listen to him(I am a tank Mesmer)

I can 2 men almost any dgn, and solo tons of dgn boss’s.

Don’t understand why you felt the need to insult me over an opinion… but anyways the point I was making is that when trying to level a melee Mesmer if you invest in toughness and vitality so you can be a better melee character the damage output wasn’t there.

I’m glad you can be a great tank, I can however kill things in a third the time on my Ele – would guarantee it actually. Sitting there fighting an enemy as long as it took when I tried leveling a Mesmer is what bored me from the class.

Continue insulting me and saying what you will but the fact that investing points in a tanky build makes you take longer to kill things will remain the same. Because of that Mesmer wasn’t for me… and it’s why I feel the only viable option is Ranged.

XP for low level events and stuff has been buffed since it used to take me 100% completion in all 5 starter zones just to get to level 23… You don’t have to go looking for every DE in the zones – just make sure to tag stuff for participation in every one you pass as you complete everything else.

Guardian is a cake walk… dunno what else to say.

Mesmer can be alright if you build it right. Unfortunately I like the sword/sword skillbar which puts me in melee range. Thought that if I buffed up toughness and vitality I could have fun but there’s no damage there – so if you play Mes you’re pretty much forced ranged.

Elementalist is fun, complicated but fun. Seems to be very difficult to solo personal story instances (as most leave no room for kiting the many enemies you face at a time) and first time players all seem to have trouble leveling solo from the low 20s to about 35. It’s my main though and at level 80 there are several viable builds for PvE that make it fun no matter what range you want to play at. I do play it as a nuker though, so if you jump to the elementalist forums you can see discussion on the tanky builds that work for players (though most of that content seems to revolve around PvP instead).

Dumb things other players do

1. Enter Personal Story instance to help a level 30ish. (It’s a long mission.)
2. Reach final mob, but I get hit with 6 stacks of Poison so I go down.
3. Other play doesn’t res me, so I die. Other player dies.
4. I respawn at the checkpoint.
5. Other play is too close to the mob for me to res. I wonder why he still hasn’t respawned at the checkpoint. I ask him to respawn at the checkpoint.
6. A second later I get a message saying that the Party Leader has left the Instance and that I’ll be kicked.
7. I go back and ask what happened and he said that he left the instance.
8. I ask him why he didn’t just Respawn at the Checkpoint, since it gives him the option and I told him several times in the past that he should do that since there’s no penalty after you’ve already died.
9. He just ignores me and says that he wants to do it again.

It’s a broken game mechanic… in personal story instances as long as someone is alive other players can’t just respawn at checkpoint. Only once all player characters are dead does the option appear – and if the option is selected by one player before the other can notice it, you have to go manually rez them or become defeated so you can both choose to rez at checkpoint together. They really need to fix this, it’s quite pathetic actually.

As for me, the thing that annoys me most is when I do jump on a melee character and I’m bashing this enemy, then an Ele or someone runs up from no where and casts gust to knockback the enemy – because that’s exactly the kind of help a melee character is looking for >.<

Don’t get me wrong, I still find some of them a pain in the kitten However I seem to find myself (when waiting on friends and guildees) challenging myself to reach places that other people don’t seem to access. Anyone else finding their own jump puzzles and are any of them more fun to complete because instead of a lame CS you get rewarded with people’s requests of how you did that?

Not that it will ever happen, but I would love to see the ability in game to have a ‘vista’ load based on your position and not based on an interactive object placed in the world by the devs. We would definitely see many more awesome screenshots if we weren’t limited to what the devs thought would make good scenes don’tcha think?

Putting an item in the gem store and as a reward from black lion chests to allow people to enter a 360 CS where THEY want to just seems like something that would be ‘fairly’ simple to code and something the community might actually enjoy. Just a suggestion… anyone in agreeance?

(of course the item would have to be something you can only use outside of combat as entering vistas puts you in an invulnerable state so you can’t be killed, but the technicalities are something they can easily look into should they consider this a decent suggestion…)

I agree that the dodge mechanics in the game seem too limiting, but there’s skills to interrupt and block as well. Dodging wasn’t meant to be the only way to avoid damage and if you build your character that way then it’s not something Anet needs to fix. Revisit the skills available to you if you want to live longer solo vs champions.

For the record, it’s endurance not stamina. Also, I didn’t find FFXI to force players into parties. It forced players to bring along a certain amount of skill sets towards the end – but a friend and myself were able to duo the ‘final boss’ of the abyssea expansions without problem.

I would like to see Anet make more of the higher level content solo friendly, but aside from specific traits and skills (and maybe food items?) to grant bonus endurance regeneration, dunno that this mechanic is going to change at all.

- however that MMO won’t go to the 360 because it has a monthly fee – and MS wants to require players of that game to have a gold account (ie 2 monthly subscriptions).

Microsoft has become increasingly stingy with gaming over the last year or so (windows 8 forces everyone to go through their store if they want access to all the features… and if games through the Windows Store end up like games on the 360; it will take a long kitten time for studios to get patches out because they would have to be “certified”).

If they could get it so that console players could not only play with other consoles, but PC players too; then it wouldn’t be so bad.

FFXI did network players between consoles and PC’s… dunno what Square Enix had to do to make it happen but it’s more than possible it’s been done since at least 4 years ago.

veldan is correct. it’s called an ACHIEVEMENT. if you can’t do it, then don’t. but coming here and posting about it isn’t going to help you complete it.

my theory is that the qqers here feel as if they are ENTITLED to an ACHIEVEMENT.

no.

you are entitled to the rewards of your achievement once you’ve achieved it. apply this to the myriad aspects of real life. qq to your boss about how you can’t make the christmas bonus because of something you don’t like to do that is required. i want polaroids of their faces when you drop this theoretical bomb on them.

Were not entitled to an achievement unless we go through and do all the parts of it…

so why are people who play sPvP rewarded for playing the game like they always have? They now get daily and monthly rewards for not doing a kitten thing different – that doesn’t sound like they’ve achieved anything…

Anets rewarding sPvP players just for playing that part of the game and trying to force us to join them, and it’s complete and total bullkitten. I want a PvE game, but they don’t feel like fixing their bugs so I should play PvP? They don’t feel like making content outside a single dungeon interesting so I should play PvP?

You’re failing to see the larger picture – the only thing that’s constantly decent about this game is PvP in their eyes, because all they have to do is add new maps from time to time. Fixing the game is too hard so they’re trying to force us to participate into PvP in hopes we’ll like it and continue to play the game.

When there’s absolutely no reward for people to enjoy PvE alone – it’s because the game developers are failing to treat their fans in a fair way – not because we don’t ever accomplish anything.

still can’t figure out why people call wvw pvp. they are not the same thing…at all.

In regards to the monthly only. Does the requirement require that I defeat (i.e. kill) other players (human beings) then YES this is PVP. So it should be either event only WvW needed or be moved to a PvP monthly.

no it is not. defeating another player with no skill/gear restrictions, using npc’s to distract them, etc is NOT pvp.

there is a reason why anet has structured pvp….let’s not forget it. wvw is as unstructured as the pve world.

i wonder if any the qqers here have even stepped foot into the mists? pvp and wvw are so different it boggles my mind that people are drawing conclusions that they are one and the same…

I played 4 sPvP matches before deciding it was lame… haven’t gone into WvW since I can only expect more of the same there en-mass. Oh and supposedly there’s this whole invisible army thing making it super fun </sarcasm>

There’s NPCs in sPvP – just a whole lot less of them allowing you to gloss over that fact. If you love your tournaments so much that WvW seems like going to a Yu-gi-oh tournament with a pokemon deck then congrats – you have an opinion.

WvW is still PvP with PvE aspects – not PvE.

Is GW2 becoming less and less solo friendly?

Started leveling an alt… was able to get to level 21 in 16 hours of play. Completed 2 cities and Queensdale, and no crafting (personal story was only done up to level 16 mission). Used to take me near 25 hours and complete every starter zone to reach that level…

Compared to launch they beefed up XP gain in lower level zones making them much more solo-friendly… since they can’t be bothered to make lower level zones more interesting for players who are playing on their level 80s.

Instead they want to force people into dungeons and PvP… why make content solo friendly for an MMO when you can make all of it aside from a few aspects a moot point?

Anyone who isn’t 80 and doing dungeon runs they’ve made it easier for now – once you’re there you either conform, or loose interest in the game. Seems to be Anet’s policy at least.

What is with the Monthly Achievement?

If WvW is PvE then why separate it – let us kill players outside the mists.

Oh don’t want that? Neither do we because PvP has no place in PvE… WvW might have elements of PvE in it but saying they’re the same is as stupid as the fact that portion of the monthly never changes.

There are a TON of things to do in WvW — which makes it even more disappointing that the achievement is simply “kill 50 players”. That type of achievement does force you into a direct PvP mode of play.

That was the first new opinion on this subject I’ve seen since it started 3 weeks ago… the devs could change the achievement to reflect completing dolyak escort missions instead but they don’t cause ANet’s full of kittens… they’re not going to drop the WvW kills from the normal monthly however much we complain so it’s fairly pointless for us to continue doing so.

Succumbing to their idiocy and doing it anyways only lets them continue – if you want PvE separate then don’t do that portion of the monthly and perhaps sometime their metrics will wake them up to their stupidity.

guild wars 2 console version

any news, progress reports or eta on when gw2 will be available for a console release?

hopefully never…

Theres no reason a mmo shouldnt be ported over to a console, dont need to be an elitest about it. If anything it would help save this game.

And would the console players be on their own servers? Because as it is, Xbox has its own network and PS3 has its own network that online gaming has to go through. Xbox COD players can’t play with PS3 COD players. Console versions would fracture the playerbase.

FFXI is an MMO that has been on both the 360 and PS3 as well as PC…

FFXIV is on PC now and supposedly the finally anounced a release date for PS3 version – however that MMO won’t go to the 360 because it has a monthly fee – and MS wants to require players of that game to have a gold account (ie 2 monthly subscriptions).

I don’t forsee GW2 going to the Xbox unless MS retracts their decision to force MMO games to require a gold account, honestly not sure who was asleep when they allowed for FFXI to not require the gold membership.

I could see it going to PS3 – however consoles and PC’s don’t utilize the same input method so until we start seeing controller support I doubt it’s in our future. And if they’re wanting to focus on the game being an esport then it’s less likely to spread to consoles.

Lacking motivation to help friends

First off, I love to help people. Getting things accomplished is fun… but I have some dumb friends. They’re so great at playing this game that when we sit in the same room I have to remind them they have skills other than the auto-attack – I have to say “You should use your heal skill” because their health’s low and my healing skills are on CD that’s how bad they are.

I’m trying to get them better at the game, but really don’t see that happening anytime soon. And the way it is now I drag my feet every time they want to do their next personal story instance. We go in, I basically do everything, oh and then they get a reward…

Yeah THEY get a reward, anytime the instance is split up for a personal story event even if I kill 8-9 out of every 10 mobs in the instance we can go directly to the next instance where they talk to someone and get their reward whilst I get nada.

If the whole quest takes place in one instance, then yes I have gotten Karma for helping but that basically lasts until something like level 10 – most every quest after that point the only benefit there is for me to be there is xp and drops from kills… and though I’d much prefer some reward worthwhile (as karma is useless to me) even if you just fix it so I get karma for helping at least I’ll see a value pop on the screen and won’t feel as though I completely wasted all that effort for no reward whatsoever…

Please Anet, don’t continue to make my effort worthless – it’s an MMO we’re supposed to play together.

I enjoy the fact my thief can tele from harvesting node to harvesting node and I can quickly get mats I need without being forced to stop and engage the mobs. Anet promised we would get to play the game however we want so if I want to craft a character to 80 I shouldn’t have to kill mobs to get the mats…

Unfortunately I’ve not gotten on my thief to collect mats in over a month now – too afraid people will report me as a bot and I’ll get banned. Would be really nice of Anet to create keystroke detection scripts so that people who run paths get tagged as bots whilst those of us who want to play the game can be left alone…

Revive skill

Similar to other revive skills, this only works for people who are downed. It’s cast time I believe is slightly faster than glyph of renewal but I still don’t see a need to have this on my bar when typically it’s just easier to walk over to the person and rez them myself. Perhaps if the skill were instant or had a shorter CD (which is ridiculous atm) then maybe I would give it another shot.

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll have to try it out and see what the cast time is like. The fact it’s a signet and has a passive effect already makes it more useful than the Ele glyph…

I know there’s better skills out there, but I have some moronic friends so kinda hoping this makes things easier.

I’m not in game at the moment, but theres a tier 3 skill available to the guardian – a signet where the active ability is to revive an ally.

Just wondering if anyone has used it and whether it only works for downed or if it rezzes a defeated player as well. Also would be nice to hear an opinion on the cast time – because if tis as long as the glyph of renewal and only works on those in downed state it’ll prolly be just as pointless to get…

thanks for your time.

census

There was a website that had a census going pre-release to help people determine which server they might want to participate on. Tis how I found out the one I’m on now was going to fill up fast – and how I found out there was a server dedicated to RP.

If you’re interested I can try to find the link to it again – though I dunno if the site owner would be interested in trying to promote it again for more recent figures… you’d have to contact them and see.

Edit – twas easy enough to find anyways so here’s the link: http://www.asuralabs.com/serverPoll.php

Do keep in mind as I mentioned earlier it was last done pre-release so not up to date… perhaps you can get them to do another poll including more options to be selected (ie profession) or just get an idea based off the site and do one yourself.

Remove "Kick from guild" from party popup?

Note to self: don’t party with the guild leaders…

Quite stupid that this type of accident can even occur – what guild leader would be so impatient that they can’t open the guild panel to kick someone? They really have to save those 2 seconds of navigation?

The thought process behind a lot of stuff Anet has done really lowers my opinion of them as of late…

All areas have mobs that drop rares.

Your best bet is to take some MF gear and food into Orr and head to the tunnel and farm the events there. Lots of high-lvl loot you can sell/salvage as well as lots of rares.

You certain of this? I was about to say the same thing but I’ve never seen rare gear lower than level 20, so I’d have to jump on the game to see what the lowest rare gear available is to see what zones you could get drops in.

And if you’re about to mention the gear-scales-to-level thing that doesn’t exactly work. Some people get random results – personally all the gear I get from drops is always scaled whilst none of the weapons I get from lower level zones are ever 74+… they always reflect the level of the zone I’m in.

sPvP may seem like it has no tactics if you’ve built the squishiest ele you can. You pretty much just die in a few hits, and people in the know… once they hit you once and notice how much damage you took they’ll just blow everything to burn you in a few seconds. Try creating a more balanced build and join sPvP… its an entirely different game when you do.

Yeah not the problem I experienced, of the four matches I played I succeeded 1v1 fights with whatever armor/weapon you start with and held down a capture point against upto 3 other players. I wasn’t just dying in a few hits because I hadn’t learnt this build back then.

I watched people I fought believing I would get the chance to anticipate skills and then dodge them – for example when I cast Meteor Shower I have no idea why people didn’t gtfo the way. It has a clear animation for casting spells. I’ve played Ranger and Thief and Warrior with little experience in Mesmer. The only attacks people used were ones that had no lead in animation because they didn’t want their attacks dodged.

I don’t care how fast paced it is, I like chess and if it requires thought and timing I’ll get into it. I’ll have to check it out again sometime but highly doubt anything has changed and it’s just a place where people can go to spam their skills and hope for kills. There was no tactics last time so even though my experience revolves around a whole 4 matches I’m not going to be entering it again hoping it’s any better this time.

Personally though, don’t see why we need another subforum for this, Player’s helping Player’s seems like a decent enough place to continue to ask for help.

Another thing to note is that not all people require exotics/dont check for them when they do pick up groups.

Personally I don’t even require people to be level 80… it’s more fun when there’s more of a challenge lol.

An option if you don’t want to salvage gear is just to farm rares and put them in the forge – you’ll get exotics from doing so and if you can’t use those sell them to afford exotics on the TP. Tis how I did it…

The exotics you get from dungeons are really tokens you get then trade to an NPC vendor in L.A. for gear. All exotics have the same levels of stats just in different categories to enable various builds… so whether you buy from TP or get from dungeon the only differences will be skins.

Exotics can also be crafted, though I know nothing about that process meself.

do you ever use this build in pvp?

Getting the gear to support the stats for this build is beyond my knowledge – I played in 4 sPvP matches during the first month but noticed that everyone I fought against only used attacks that had no casting times…

I can’t dodge attacks that have no build up animation, and if it’s just a place that people go to button mash their fastest attacks it’s not something I’m going to get into since I’ll never enjoy it.

However from what I understand I could take this build directly into WvW exactly as originally posted. Wish for me to check something out for you? I’ve kinda just avoided all PvP related content since discovering sPvP has no tactics behind it.
