Necro Encyclopedia-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrAjJ1N6hxs
Sounds like someone is mad that graveyard zerg doesn’t work anymore. Work around it. Or find a guild who will. Be social. You know, it’s a social game. There are casual, understanding guilds out there. All your complaints so far are sort of just lame.
If the game isn’t fun people will leave. Not everyone is hard core. That means even hard core players will get less people to play with.
For example, casual player will not spend 4+ hours in Arah path 4. They will not bother “work around” it or “find a guild or group”. They would rather load up Street Fighters (or any other games) and have a blast.
Honestly, like all complaints of the system, it sounded it’s a people problem. You guys got grouped with a lot of bad players.
My friend you got to realize one thing. This isn’t even hard mode. This isn’t Dante Must Die mode. Right now it is just a normal dungeon mode and its already killing tons of the PUGS and casual players.
In GW1 you can get a PUG and finish most stuff in normal mode no problem. Hard mode is slightly harder but still do-able. Heck in the end I had to hero&hench a bunch of stuff but it was still do-able because stuff wasn’t this crazy hard. The only things in GW1 that turns PUGs away was hard mode Titan quests, Domain of Anguish and Winds of Change. But that was a very small portion of the game. Unlike in GW2 where PUGs are getting killed everywhere.
(edited by CHIPS.6018)
1) Scale character levels to 80 for all dungeons, instead of scaling characters down. That only mess up the player’s traits and skills bar. It also makes the game easier to balance for Anet. For example getting hit for 4k in CM is A LOT more damage than getting hit for 10k in Arah.
2) Add a skill trait master inside all dungeons, so players can retrait as needed. For example a Necro should remove Jagger Horrors before facing Lupi.
One-hit bosses? Which ones actually do that? The only bosses I know that legitimately one-shot people are in Fractals Level 40-50+.
(cut the rest due to length restrictions)
Are you trying to claim that Lupi in Arah cannot one hit kill non-tank players? If so, there aren’t much left to discuss.
Of course bosses do not have billion billion hp. But the point is bosses in GW2 dungeons has tons of hp. Way too much. Nearly all dungeon bosses puts Shiro and Lich from GW1 into shame. And to make things worst we can no longer cast spells like Empathy on these bosses to kill them faster.
So you are suggesting that groups “gear check” on people before starting a dungeon, to make sure no one is using Magic Find items? Sorry but this statement is so elitist are aren’t funny. In fact why don’t Anet just remove Magic Find items, like delete them totally from the game, to save the rest of us the trouble? :P
By themselves, “one hit kill”, “billion billion hp” and “no res-rushing” isn’t too bad. But when the game has all 3 together, the game is nearly impossible for PUGs and casual. I am not talking about elitist and 24/7 gamers here. I do not care about them, because they are not the norm.
Sure you can revive people in boss fights. But you do know that for bosses like Lupi, res-rushing is the norm right? Even experts/experienced players tell people to res-rush before starting the fight. Why do you think that is? Because ressing people during Lupi is very hard that’s why.
Ash Legion Spy Kit will obviously be nerfed soon. That is not how the game is meant to be played.
I used gw2lfg.com myself all the time when I was doing dungeons. But guess what even back then finding a group take a while. And finding a group that works takes even longer. Some groups do fail, even before this patch.
You can know the creature inside and out all you like. It doesn’t change the fact that one mistake and you are dead. Most drivers knows how to drive inside and out. But they still get into accidents. I had killed Lupi many many times for the Arah armor. Back in GW1 I finished Winds of Change in Hard mode and got Xan Hei’s Resolve. So I am at least an experience gamer. But even I can see that this patch is going to ruin dungeons for PUGs.
Our guild has discussed for ages on dungeons in GW2. Our opinions on them has always been negative. For example Arah stoy mode (kill Zhaitan) has got to be the worst dungeon we has ever seen. That one has nothing to do with how hard or how easy btw. It just wasn’t fun at all and super repetitive and tons of deaths. This new patch has put many of us over the top.
GW2 dungeons stopped being relevant ever since they stopped matching mobs stats with players. Neither does mobs use the same skills as the players. In GW1 mobs are only slightly/marginally stronger than players stats wise, even in level 20 vs level 32. They also use many the same skills are players, so when a mob uses Meteor Shower everyone knows what the expect. In GW2 dungeons they are well over the top stat wise. They also use some crazy skills that you can only research on wiki. Honestly what kind of hero are we? Every single mob we meet in GW2 dungeons has like 10 times our hp and 3 times our damage. Why don’t we just ask those Risens to save the world instead?
The fact that certain dungeons mobs can just mindlessly auto attack and might still kill a player speak length about just how mess up the dungeons are. In GW1 at least the mobs need to use skills and spells to take out a player. In GW2 dungeons they just auto attack. And here you are lecturing me about designs? And you are wondering why players want to run past all the mobs? The fights aren’t fair or relevant at all that’s why.
(edited by CHIPS.6018)
….. EXACTLY the horrible sort of disgusting sickening elitism we do not want rearing its ugly vile head …
No offense, but why do you put so much energy into nonconstructive posts like these instead of actually seeking or giving advice for dungeons? Some players are doing fine, and some aren’t. The difference is just in the willingness to learn. Res-Rushing was not going to stay, and it’s definitely not coming back. Please tell me a single MMO where you can still res-zerg encounters? It made GW2 feel unpolished and crude.
Furthermore, just because you paid for the game this does not entitle you to everything. It’s like saying, “Why can’t I have my Legendary for free right now? I paid for the game!” or, “Why am I waiting in queue for WvW? I paid for the game!” You are saying the same thing about dungeons.
You paid for access to the MMO; nothing else. What you do with your access is entirely on you.
Think about what you are saying.
Bosses have a billion billion hp and one hit kill non-tank characters.
Ok so against something like this people should LTP? Get better?
ONE mistake by ONE of you PUG members, when you are trying to kill that billion billion hp boss, will lead to party wipe. And once you wipe, that billion billion hp boss will be fully healed.
Prove to me how PUG is not totally 110% dead after this update.
So for me to succeed, I better look for a elite guild and force them to play with me, even when they are busy doing something else. Or start adding my own circle of elitist friends.
(edited by CHIPS.6018)
I am just glad that I am done with Arah dungeon and hope I won’t have to go back. I died so many times killing Lupi back then. Now they are changing it so you can’t even way point unless your allies are out of combat? This is a HUGE change. Nevermind balance, but how exactly is this fair for the people that done it before this patch? Now the newcomers will have a much harder time doing this.
And for those didn’t know about Arah Dungeon, you meet Lupi like 2 hour after entering certain paths. So if you can’t kill Lupi, your whole previous hour is wasted.
I killed Lupi many times when farming Arah for the Arah armor. I don’t recall even once that no one died at all when fighting him. But players managed to way point and run back to finish him. Can’t do that anymore.
So this is the way dungeons are meant to be played? Absolutely zero mistakes allowed or party wipe? Seriously? What game is this Dante Must Die? This is way too much they are asking for a PUG. So now PUGs are dead and only guild groups and elites can play dungeons in this game. Actually even guild groups and elite would die because Lupi can easily one hit kill you if you aren’t a tank class. So correction only guild groups and elites using warriors and guardians can play dungeons. >_>
And dungeons are meant to be farmed. You need multiple play though to get enough for your armor or weapons. Arah is more than hard enough as it is, with some paths taking over 4 hours to complete. I remember when GW1 was young I failed many times at Elona Reach. But hey I didn’t need to pay for repairs. And after I finish that mission once YAHOO I am done with it. I do not need to go back to farm it.
They better seriously boost resurrection in this game. Ressing people in dungeons is very tough when facing Lupi. And now you cant even way point and run back to him.
Seriously how are they going to make Hard Mode in GW2? Even so call normal mode is nearly impossible for a lot of players. Many mobs are already one hit killing players. What will it be in hard mode? Enemy runs 33% faster and attacks 50% faster and their projectiles flies 100% faster? Even Spartans will surrender. >_>
BTW I finished Winds of Change Hard Mode in GW1. I got Xan Hei’s Resolve. So I know what I am talking about, difficulty wise.
I had played GW1 since beta. It should be obvious to most people that GW2 dungeons are much worst than GW1 dungeons and missions. Much much worst. Every single GW2 dungeon is like Dante Must Die, with mobs that has a billion billion hp and one hit kill. In GW1 you only see these kind of mobs in Shiro or the Lich. Actually NVM they even in hard mode do not one hit kill you. Not to mention in GW1 we got stuff like Empathy to take out these 1 billion billion hp bosses. Now in GW2 every single no-name mob in dungeons are stronger than Shiro and the Lich in GW1, with more hp than the stars in the sky. But me and my guild endured GW2 dungeons. But now they are even worst.

Groups in Arah fighting Lupi will have so much fun now. Zero deaths allowed.
Watch out for an engi from SoS on kaineng, he has the power of teleportation and immunity while downed, he also had CoF gear.
I confirm this. I have footage of this player hacking. Me and my friend must have killed him about 5 times over and over and he kept coming after us within seconds of killing him. Good thing he was terrible though.
If you can post a screen shot of him/her, we here in Kaineng can keep an eye out for him. If we see him/her hacking we will report him/her ourselves.
They once had a shining kingdom with a long and storied history, but are getting displaced by the younger, more energetic, races.
Except the humans are one of the youngest races in Tyria. The other races of the world all had their set lands and boundaries and then the humans came along and messed everything up. The Charr used to be animalistic heathens and only started to advance their society and technology when they had to fight the humans to reclaim their homeland.
A lot of the ancient history is blur. Humans most likely came directly from Norns. Although how exactly is not known yet. Norns are an ancient race that probably existed since the Age of Giants. At that age True Giants (Lupi), Norns and Jutons ruled the Silver Peaks.
At some point Norns and Jotun both fell from power. True Giants became hermits. And then humans came along.
Humans has the advantage of being smaller than both Charrs and Norns. That means humans probably grow up faster (20 years vs 30 years) and consumes less food. Humans are also the leader in agriculture, providing food supply for all other races fighting the dragons.

I think it is 500 total players / 4 maps / 3 servers = 42 players per server per map.
But saying “Man down!” is cooler than “Man dead!”.
lol, I wish I could hear the Kain voice chat. I imagine it must go something like:
Zergling 1: OMG, there’s Yaks inbound to Longview!
Zergling 2: Crap, how many?
Zergling 1: It’s a zerg man, they must have 6, no wait, SEVEN yaks!
Zergling 2: Mother of god….
Zergling 1: Kitten! They just took Longview from our forces! Reporting massive casualties there.
Zergling 2: Holy cheetohs! Commander! What should we do against those odds?
Commander: …. Well mentlegen, in this situation there’s only one thing we CAN do.
Send 30, plus whomever else you see zoning in.
Zerglings 1 and 2: AYE AYE SIR!;)
Look, I never doubted that we in Kaineng outnumber you overall. But come on you guys had zerg too. Tonight in YB BL we repelled your attacks 5 times at garrison when you guys got more men than us.
Once again I am not doubting that Kaineng has more men and better coverage than you overall. But it isn’t as bad as you are saying.
Bottom line: Play fair on the forums.
@CHIPS
Weren’t you on SOR and SBI before?
I was from SBI. After the no-free tranfer announcement my guild decided to let people go anywhere they wish. Me and a few others went to SoR. Others went to JQ, Kaineng and some stayed in SBI.
After that our guild had some long discussions. We managed to get most people to agree to join one common server. Next discussion was on which server to join. We wanted to join SoR the most (many former SBI there) but it was full. At the end we decided on Kaineng since it got space. After we start transferring Anet increased the server cap once again. But by then we already decided on Kaineng and so here we are.
It was a very messy 2 weeks. We tried to minimize the damage to our guild.
I am WM leader in Kaineng sever.
Kaineng could go to T2. But we can’t go now coz there is a reason.
2 days ago, after we occupied and upgraded the entire borderlands, we had a Kaineng server meeting of guilds to exchange opinions.
The participants: WM, TL, RUN, RISE, CO, Ph, KOR, Meow, RE, SoS
Although, many controversial issues were brought up, I did not respond to all the issues. However, I was disappointed to learn that some misinformation was being let out about how the meeting unfolded and I am writing this post to fix that.
1. We suggested to guilds to focus on the borderland where they are responsible (assigned) to make Kaineng Server stronger for T1 and T2. Although almost every participating guild agreed, RE and SoS did not. RE later clarified their situation and we have since worked things out.
2. The idea using a certain forum to conduct a campaign that requests help from other guilds who were not in the meeting and PUGs was not concluded because RE strongly wanted to use their webpage for the campaign. We still have not yet found a solution to this problem, but will try to after we have resolved our current dilemma.
3. SoS who were originally in T8 had dissatisfaction with the newcomer WvW guilds including WM. WM moved in Kaineng 6 weeks ago and we have fought all 6 weeks for Kaineng. I don’t understand why we deserve such hostility. We only want to fight for Kaineng, same as everyone else.
Thus, all 8 guilds (TL,RISE,RUN,CO,KOR,Ph,Meow) including WM agreed that it is hard to organize the server and WM and TL including other guilds have decided to take a temporary break from WvW.
We the WvW guilds of Kaineng would appreciate it if certain individuals would stop spreading misinformation about this problem. I really want them to show their ability in WvW and not on a forum. I always love PUGs and guilds of all sizes. We hope we can help our server to prepare for next tiers and we hope we can help Kaineng to be the best server of all. However, if most Kaineng members do not want us, we will consider moving to one of the other servers where we will be welcome.
We will come back as soon as after this problem solved.
I will speak on behalf of casual wvwers.
1) Map assignments
I am from Dii and we had fought beside you guys since SBI days. We are a PvE guild that also enjoy wvw casually. Some might call us pugs.
It will be hard for our guild to commit to one map. Firstly we play casually and cannot promise to field manpower on certain dates. Some nights we play a lot of wvw, some nights we go pve. Secondly we try to go to a map that needs help the most. I believe we should be free to help out which ever map that needs help. Lastly when there are queues, we would go to which ever map that has space left.
Since right now we aren’t in a playoff/championship situation, I don’t think we need to get that organized just yet. We can worry about server assignments and hand picking team members for maps later, when the playoff/championship does come.
2) Forum discussions
What forum we use doesn’t sound like a huge issue. I don’t think Kaineng has an official forum yet. There is one (www.kainengcenter.com) that is trying to get started. Maybe used that one.
3) Respect
My guild knows what WM is capable of. Nothing but respect from us.
4) Temporarily break
There are advantage in that too. The “pugs” and casuals in Kaineng would get a chance to prove themselves. However it will be great if some people from WM and other former T1 guilds can come help out and give people some pointers. I mean we are former T1 too (sort of) but more the merrier. ^^
(edited by CHIPS.6018)
I just found out that there is a new official forum for Kaineng.
Go make an account and introduct yourself. ^^
I am so confused about this.
So it seems Kaineng, JQ and FA are the top 3 winners.
Minions are useless in 1v1 against anyone that kites. Your minions just run around in circles and never hits the enemy. The only thing that can get them is the flesh golem’s charge. Everything else either doesn’t hit or doesn’t deal much damage.
In zerg vs zerg though, minion aren’t too bad in the chaos IF there weren’t that 10 second delay before they start fighting.
Would have worked before the mass server transfers and population imbalances. Now its too late.
The worst NHL teams (e.g. New York Islanders) would still win some games here and there because it is still 5v5 most of the time. However GW2 WvW now is like 3 on 5 the whole hockey game. The weaker team has no chance of winning. Not to mention the scores gets carry forward to next game.
(edited by CHIPS.6018)
1) Put towers and keeps further apart from each other, so no more castle to castle sieges.
2) A underwater battle map, with both caves and open areas.
3) A city urban warfare map, with houses that you can enter and roofs to climb onto.
I am ok with ANet ignoring server rating and manually selecting match ups from educated guess from data they have, but I am not sure if this is the case. They didn’t explain. If they are simply resetting rating and pretty much randomly matching servers then I completely oppose. Would this meas T1 may end up fighting with T4, T6 servers? I don’t think so.
The 3rd place from T1 might face the 3rd place of T5 and T8. That sounds like fun.
We would have tactics like “hey lets not log on so they win less points”
It wouldn’t be to the degree that the outmanned team would be winning in points, they would still be winning immensely in PPT, but the outmanned team would now have incentive to flip sentries and kill yaks and flip towers since it actually contributes.
Not to mention that players that only play during the night (like myself and many many others) due to many RL reasons, would be unfarly wronged.
I addressed that and said it is the vital point against such a system. It isn’t anyone’s fault that one timezone outnumbers another, it is a numbers game after all, but it is also somewhat unfair to the outnumbered because they essentially have that aspect of the game removed for them. Hence the reason for the discussion about ways to counter this.
It is better to assume this is a 24h 365 days war game and stop crying about it.
No crying to be had, merely hypothetical situations and how they would play out. Trying to better a community that I love.
Sorry won’t work. When I was playing CS one of my clanmates said the following statement about knife vs gun:
“I knifed you 5 times and you shot me only 10 times, so I owned you”
Nope. The side that wins (e.g. higher score) should be considered the winner. It doesn’t matter what disadvantage the losing side has to face.
What the system can do though is put the people with disadvantages (only have a knife) against each other, instead of facing people with advantages (have a gun).
After taking everything in, here is my conclusion for the best overall system.
1) Bi-Daily server rank adjustment. So every 2 days servers might move up or down a tier.
2) Winner server moves up a tier. Loser server moves down a tier.
3) Total annual score rallied up for playoffs. The playoff/championship ranking is determined by annual total score. Top 9 teams enter the playoffs for 2 rounds. (1vs8v9, 2vs6vs7, 3vs4vs5). The winners of 1st round moves to round 2.
4) Your servers get bonus annual points for winning in a higher tier (e.g. 30k for tier 1, 15k for tier 2, 7.5k for tier 3). You get a smaller bonus for being 2nd place in a tier(e.g. 10k for tier 1, 5k for tier2, 2.5k for tier 3). No bonus for the loser. This means you cannot lose on purpose to pick on smaller servers. You also want to stay in a higher tier for the higher bonuses.
-This means that everyday in wvw is important. Tiers might be changed very quickly.
-Server will no longer be stuck in the wrong tier (either too high or too low) for weeks.
-Servers will face new opponents all the time. This makes wvw more interesting.
-When playoff/championship happens, it is determined by the total annual score. What that means is that you always want to get as many points as possible. But at the same time as you win, you will face harder and harder opponents. So the only way to get ahead is to beat the opponents of your level.

39g? Your bounties put ours to shame
Psssh that’s only like $5 real money. Can’t even buy a hamburger with that. :P
My server has this thing called counter trebbing. Its pretty magical. What we do is build a treb and destroy theirs. No need to take their keep in order to do it. Sit back casually with your ele and talk about how blue the sky is today.
You can’t counter treb garrison from bay.
Either way castle to caste sieges sucks in my opinion.
You can’t counter treb hills from bay either. I guess we are screwed.
Screwed? I am not even talking about game balance. I am saying how ridiculous it is to have a castle to castle siege war. Name me one fantasy story that involves castle to castle sieges.

Everybody here seems to be either happy or upset with this decision, but I am truly surprised that nobody … including apparently ANet … realizes what having to do a complete reset to zero really means. It’s an overt admission that ANet’s rating system (the modified Glicko-2 calculation) is incapable of responding to changing server dynamics in any meaningful way. ANet has clearly decided that (in their words) “several weeks of volatility while the ratings settle down” represents a quicker path to parity than the rating system would be able to accomplish on its own. That’s pretty pathetic in its own right, but it’s even more incredible that ANet would elect to stick with such a flawed system instead of spending the time and effort to craft a more workable one. I find this aspect of the decision to be the most incomprehensible of all.
A simple system of “winner go to next tier” and “loser goes to a lower tier” would work. They can keep the total score of the year as a reference.
Or instead of a total reset, why not just cut ALL total scores by 75%. That would make catching up easier, without destroying multiple tiers.
Or each week set all T8 servers’ total scores to match the lowest team in T7. So each week these servers has a chance to move up to T7.
(edited by CHIPS.6018)
Just let it play out. It will be great to face some new opponents. With the current ratings the matchups are nearly the same every week.
If you are from a top server, your “new” opponents would be run over by you. Unless you really enjoy lop sided fights I don’t see how that’s great for you.
If you are from a low server, your “new” opponents would run you over. Unless you really enjoy getting tortured, I don’t see how that’s great for you.
Lose-lose if you ask me.
Sure, if you’re only looking at the next one or two matches.
In the current environment it’s going to take at least a month for T3 through T8 to settle down. The current environment also makes it statistically improbable for certain servers to move up into positions they belong in, exacerbating the problem.
I will gladly exchange two weeks of bad/awkward match-ups for long-term fun for everyone, and you should too. It’s about every server everywhere getting better and getting into a better place, not just your server.
Win-win if you ask me.
Or how about this? SF owns both FC and ET, so they moved on. Assuming that both FC and ET stays in T8.
In T2, TC got owned. So they dropped to T8.
So next next week, we have TC vs FC vs ET. TC roll over both and move on.
So all good? Nope!
Now FC and ET has spent 2 weeks getting almost no point. Everyone else has moved on ahead of them. And since neither server is that strong, they never recovered.
No matter what system you use, there are always servers that gets screwed over. In this situation, there will be servers who will get screwed over again and again more than twice.
And then look at T1 projections:
Jade Quarry
Yaks Bend
Emery Bay
So JQ already in T1 will get free points. They got boosted so high that it will take weeks before anyone has a chance of catching them.

I find it amusing that most of the bellyaching is coming from SoR when in all likelihood the SoR-TC-SBI match is one of the main reasons for this shuffle.
So the solution to an unbalanced match up is to create more unbalanced
Never said I agreed with the solution, just that the match blowouts due to mass transfers is what made ANet take this course of action. I am merely pointing out the irony.
But the damage is already 110% done. It will be better from here on. Why try to fix something that’s already a past done deal, and create even more future problems? This is like throwing good money after bad money.
Tonight was the first time i have ever questioned the long term viability of this game. It took us a few minutes in our guild’s vent to realize just how terrible this idea was and yet professional game developers are actually going to go through with this? And on top of that a major change such as this is being implemented with no player feedback.
Games will simply not survive in the long run when they implement huge bone headed changes without any player feedback.
Simply put, a system that has a chance of placing sanctum of rall in tier 8 is clearly not going to work out well. I hope that the developers at least realized to add in some kind of rating coefficient to smooth out relative changes based on tiers or something. If not then lol.
It doesn’t make any sense to my guild neither. Yes for weeks there are low tier server complaining that Maguuma and Kaineng were running over them. At that point, it might have made some sense to put out a rating reset, specially before the end of free transfers.
Now all that damage has already been done. Servers are finally settling down. Top tier servers already got their transfers and are already in the top 3 tiers. Low level servers are happy that those top servers has move on, so now they can finally enjoy some low level wvw.
And now Anet announced a rating reset.
Let’s think about this.
Low level servers do not want this. Sure it seems they got everything to gain and nothing to lose. But in reality they know very well that this means they would be overrun by high level servers once again. The weeks of “torture” that they had to endure though will be BACK again.
High level servers do not want this. They got everything to lose, and nothing to gain. Not to mention over-runing low level servers is no fun for anyone.
The only people that would love this are those in T8 who wanted their server to be in T1 for JUST one week. Its a very small minority. All the rest of the people will be very mad and disappointed.

This really benefits keineng more than any other server and punishes Sor, Sos, Bg, Jq etc. Anyone from those servers has a right to be kitten off.
I am from Kaineng and I still think this is the worst idea ever. We want to earn our way up.
Hmmm…
New ratings math will be based on population and it’s effectiveness in battle.
Rating based on population and effectiveness? All that will do is create elitists. You know, stuff like “Underleveled noobs get out of my map you suck you are losing us points!”
(edited by CHIPS.6018)
Sweet – time for some WvW map completion. JQ is going to give some lowly tier 8 servers a 200,000 point thrashing.
Only 200,000? :P
True, but it also means that all servers that want to get into Tier 1 will have to earn their way in, not exploit a dead servers uncorrected high rating to shoot into Tier 1.
But the dead server exploiting is ALREADY done. Its all in the past. It doesn’t make any sense now to cause more trouble for everyone.
Trust me you guys in weaker servers don’t want to see FA, Mag, SoR or TC rolling over you guys again. Everyone of these servers zergs and zergs.

Actually I am not sure how it’s going to work after next week. Say next week in current T1 JQ wins and SOR is the last, and T5 Yak’s Bend get first. Does it mean there’s a chance JQ is going to fight Yak’s Bend the week after since their ratings may be closer?
Let’s say next week SF (rank 22), EB (rank 15) and FA (rank 6) blows out their enemies. These 3 servers would be in T1 next next week. FA would proceed to blowout SF and EB and get free points. If JQ didn’t blow out SoR and and SoS, JQ would end up in a lower tier than SF and EB for next next week.
If you are in a lower tier server (SF, EB, etc), you should aim to blow out your foes so you can be in T1 for one week. After that when you face servers like FA, just take a vacation.
If you happened to be the weakest link in T1, prepare to enter T8 next next week.

No, the matchups coming are staying the same. i.e JQ, SoR, SoS/BG
The rating behind the movement is what changes. So it won’t be a SoR(which has lost 11 times to BG, won 4 times to SBI, won 6 times to TC, etc) that is there, it will be an SoR(with a no record) in T1. Everyone’s history is gone.
Next week SoR will still be in T1.
SoR will be in a Tier 1 matchup. But every server’s rating will be reset to 1500 so they probably won’t be staying Tier 1 because Tier 1 is usually a close match.
Next week, the servers that achieve blowouts will become the new tier 1.
And then the next week, when real T1-T3 servers faces them, they will get blown out themselves. Are roller coaster rides like these really healthy for a server?
Sorry Habib but this is the absolute WORST time for a server rating reset. Please hear me out.
Look at the predicted T1 to T3 right now. These will be the best matches we have for weeks.
Jade Quarry
Sanctum of Rall
Sea of Sorrows
Blackgate
Tarnished Coast
Fort Aspenwood
Kaineng
Maguuma
Dragonbrand
All 9 of these servers can wvw very well. Many people have waited WEEKS for epic battles like these.
At lower tiers, things are FINALLY settling in. We got weaker servers facing weaker servers. The matches won’t be lopsided anymore. May people have waited WEEKS for the matches to even out.
If you guys reset the rating right now, you would be placing some of these top 9 teams with weak server. These weaker server will be overrun “again”. What we would get is more outcry. More trash talking. None of these are positive for the game.
I strongly recommend that you guys reconsider this decision. Postpone this for a month and see how things go first. Thank you.

I agree… and in order to keep with the real life theme I think that Heavy Armor jobs should not be able to swim, staffs should not fire magic energy and the name changed to “stick”, Charr should not be able to speak or walk on two legs, and guns should do more damage!
But castle to castle sieges NEVER existed even in fantasy books. That’s because it would be ridiculous.
I want to find out who is the biggest “winner” in the recent server transfers. If you moved during this month (Jan 2013), please fill out the following 2 question poll. Thanks! ^^

As for me, I moved to Kaineng. #1 reason is WvW.
(note: I left out the question “Which server did you left from?” on purpose. I don’t think this is necessary.)

I think there need to be a separation between blast aoe and non-blast aoe.
-Blast AoE works like a grenade. The people in the middle of the aoe takes a ton of damage. While people outside takes less damage due to distance and people inside semi-blocking the blash for you.
So it should work like:
0-5 meters from centre: 100% damage
6-10 meters from centre: 80% damage
11-15 meters from centre: 60% damage
etc
-Non blash AoE are spells like Mark of Blood. They are magical and deals damage evenly to enemies. However each spell has limited power, so their damage is spread evenly amount the enemies inside
So it should work like:
Damage= (95%)^(number of foes you hit) + 5%
So if you hit 5 foes, each foe takes .95^5 0.05 = 82.38% damage
If you hit 20 foes, each foes takes .95^200.05= 40.85% damage

I feel that the distance between towers and keeps are often too close to each other. So close that one can use superior trebs to hit towers/keeps nearby from inside another tower/keep.
The problem with this is it never happens in real life.
In real life an army would need to carry siege supplies with them. Once they get to an enemy castle, they would set up siege equipments outside of the walls.
In no case would an army be able to siege an enemy castle from inside the “comfort” of their own castle. If they want to protect their siege equipments, they would need to build a mini fort themselves.
What I suggest is to change the map so the towers/keeps are further apart from each other, so even a superior treb cannot hit from inside the walls. So to siege an enemy fort/keep, the army would need to place siege equipments outside the safety of their own fort/keep.
At the same time, add a new siege weapon call “wooden walls”. This can be built by an attacking army to defend their siege equipments.
It would be a huge number difference between the first 3 tiers and the rest of others, that’s for sure.
I agree only in the situation you are being ganked. No matter how much “skill” or abilities you have, with lets say 5+ ganking you, you will be cc’d a lot or instantly dead.
You would die against 5 guys, unless you are an ele with RTL. Or you are a thief with stealth and crazy mobility. Or you are a mes with clones.
Catching people is already very hard as it is. No need to nerf snares even more.
As for the rangers, engineers and necros, sorry but you are dead.
I could have swore that I saw at least 20 WM in wvw yesterday. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me.
They are probably practising new tactics somewhere. WvW is queued so its hard to get a group together there. And we are going 600+ almost constantly anyways so they might as well take it easy.
Revives can be interrupted. I don’t feel ressing allies in combat is “overpowered” at all.
So he is trap inside the wall with your whole zerg there. If they res him, y not just kill him again for free badges?
YB showing up in force tonight. It will be fun. ^^
I will note that WvW participation in GW2 overall is a very small number.
The announcement of free transfers ending and the fiasco that ensued afterwards turned many people away from WvW. The community shrank so much more because the casual player has no incentive anymore to participate.
Even I, the guy that gained 40 of my 80 levels in WvW within the first two weeks of the game being out, find myself lacking the drive to go into WvW.
This is the second time CD has gone through the exodus with people having no server loyalty whatsoever. I’ll still show up, but I won’t be turning my tag on, not until everything stabilizes.
P.S. it was funny seeing a 30 man zerg in KBL going behind 2 players (myself and an elemental) taking back camps. Sad, but still funny.
That’s the risk of ninja-ing. You guys had at least 40 guys on for most of yesterday on CD BL. If you got caught 2 vs 30, it probably means you “choose” not to join your zerg and instead went ninja-ing. You can get caught ninja-ing by a zerg in any server. ^^
I wouldn’t have called yesterday’s fight epic if you guys didn’t have that many people.
