Don’t have to put that stupid focus in my inventory anymore.
Good riddance.
It’s easier to destroy innovation than to innovate.
I cant imagine what is left to nerf RTL further…
I’m almost certain they already have something in mind…
That many changes to a single skill shows exactly how confused the developers are. They don’t know what they’re doing.
It’s like a little kid going…
I wonder what this does…
I wonder what will happen if I do this…
Hardcore players care about game mechanics. They write guides, analyze data, provide feedback, create spreadsheets and make videos for the community to see.
Casual players turn on the game in the same way they turn on a TV or a radio. They use it for their enjoyment and then turn it off when they don’t need it.
People who are vocal about the game actually care about the game; even if their arguments are irrational. Their opinions and feedback matter. Why? Because casual players don’t care.
Casual players don’t post on forums. Don’t talk with others on voip, don’t type anything in chat, don’t write guides, don’t find exploits, don’t abuse game mechanics, don’t provide feedback and just generally don’t care about pretty much anything.
It’s the deep breath before the plunge…
Will you clowns stop manipulating this market already?
You’re making me filthy rich.
You know what’s a bigger shame? All those resources, hundreds of hours of development.
It appears to me that developers respond to the lowest common denominator having the loudest voice. Stealth is not a new idea; it’s a borrowed idea.
Developers are like normal people. They fall into patterns and tend to not question how things work or why they work a certain way. Ideas are simply borrowed from the people who invented them.
I agree that stealth doesn’t provide skill based game play. However; keep in mind the audience that you’re trying to convey this discussion to. They generally don’t like to think.
Playing a boonless build is useless. Other players will put boons on you regardless.
You think warrior did a lot of damage? You ain’t seen nothing yet.
A game cannot have something for you to buy at that amount of gold. No one will ever have that amount of gold because no one needs it.
You seem to want to continue to accumulate something that you don’t need. Sounds like an addiction to me. You could consult a psychiatrist.
RTL could of had weaknesses. Cripple and chill could have reduced its range. With collision detection they could have prevented RTL from going through objects.
Putting a 40 second cool down on an ability takes 1 person a few minutes to code and requires no testing.
There are some variances of glass builds out there. I don’t like the play style but some people found ways to make it effective. They will no longer be effective.
Everyone who plays an elementalist will be a bunker now. Not because they want to but because they have to. This trend of changes that the devs keep bringing will eventually make the class unplayable.
They’ve been doing things like this since GW1 by the way. They nerf based on no testing and data collection then buff it again a few months later.
You’ll see. It’s hilarious.
Do something. Anything. Doesn’t matter what it is.
They could have made RTL distance shorter if crippled and chilled. 40 second cool down when not hitting a target is such poor design I don’t even know where to start.
They’ve been doing this since GW1. No testing, no data collection. They nerf, then they buff it again a few months later.
You’ll see. It’s hilarious.
The change to RTL just pigeon holed the Elementalist into bunker. There’s no reason to spec anything other than bunker now.
Not counting utilities (blink skill/speed signet)/ traits / runes? 0/10
blink is 900 range on a 45 sec cd so it wont change much.He doesnt count conjures that provide leaps that lower the difference a bit and the elite conjure which does make ele the most mobile kid in town while equiped.None of them are viable in pvp though.
Still, easy acess to Swiftness or “One with Air” or even the Signet of Air (which warrior lacks) and the fact that Lightning Flash can be used on upper ground, like Khylo,Foefire and Temple. There’s no way a ele would lose a race against a warrior.
A warrior can click Signet of Rage and gets 30 seconds of swiftness. You want to use lightning flash on your Elementalist? That’s OK, I’ll juts catch up to you with a Bull’s Charge.
Anything else?
Because the Elementalist has giant quantities of protection, healing, cleansing, and invulnerability?
The bunker spec is not what got nerfed by the way. It’s the glass specs. With inferior mobility; the Elementalist no longer has the choice of being anything other than a bunker.
The heavy armored warrior vs the cloth wearing Elementalist. Who would win in a race? Lets find out.
Warrior: One hand sword + Greatsword
Elementalist: Dagger + Dagger
Elementlist:
Ride the Lightning 1200 range 40 second cooldown.
Burning Speed 600 range 15 second cooldown.
Warrior:
Savage Leap 600 range 8 second cooldown
Whirlwind 450 range 10 second cooldown
10 seconds:
Elementalist covered 1800 range.
Warrior covered 2100 range.
20 seconds
Elementalist covered 2400 range.
Warrior covered 3150 range.
30 seconds
Elementlist covered 3000 range.
Warrior covered 4200 range.
Why would a Warrior with 8000 more base health and 200 more base armor have better mobility than the Elementalist?
I don’t understand.
(edited by Calae.1738)
I’m really sorry for you guys and I hope that they will reduce the 40 seconds to maybe 25 seconds max or something like that. The 1200 range change (which was needed) alone will reduce mobility alot because ele can’t automatically get out of attack range any more.
I had a feeling the developers would do something this stupid. Luckly I have enough money saved up to start a new class.
You wanna laugh?
A Mesmer has more mobility than an Elementlist now. You can trait blink to 1200 range every 24 seconds.
It’s true and will effect all aspects of the game.
40 second cooldown on RTL if no target is hit.
The Warrior, with 8000 more health and 200 more armor has more mobility than an Elementalist. One hand sword has a 600 range leap on a 8 second cooldown. The Greatsword Whirlwind is a 450 range on a 10 second cooldown.
A warrior can leap 1050 range every 10 seconds.
Giving the Warrior 4200 range in 40 seconds.
I would like to congratulate the developers on their ineptness.
There is an issue with the downed state? Since when? Seems to be a wonderful feature.
Yea for noobs.
Our elites are so bad that I forget I even have one.
I am currently working towards map completion on my Warrior and after completing a map I got a Black Lion Key. I had a couple of chests in my inventory so I decided to use it and see what I got. From this chest I got
Fused Weapon Ticket
Black Lion Key
Regeneration Buff
Random TonicI then used that key and got
Unidentified Dye -> Midnight Red Dye
Just goes to show that in this game it is better to be lucky than rich
Probabilities are mathematical. Without the ability to calculate risk; the investor is blindly throwing a dart in the dark hoping to hit the bullseye. Some economists would regard that as the equivalent of throwing money in the garbage.
We’ll be going through most of these in 2013 and looking at making them more fun and exciting encounters that better scale to support the huge armies of people who mob them.
And of course, we’re also looking into ways to make it so you can see more of those huge mobs of people as well.
Edited to add: This is a great place to throw out your ideas of what you’d like to see any of them do encounter wise to make them more exciting.
Oh Colin; your community is never short of ideas.
Mega events should not crowd players into one area.
Imagine an event that requires the cooperation of people. There should be multiple areas to defend and assault. Think of Lyssa in Malchor’s Leap. Imagine the server communicating with each other in map chat calling for reinforcements and organizing people to assault high value targets.
The boss should be more difficult if not impossible to defeat if certain areas are not captured and controlled. Boss mechanics should be more punishing. Force players to dodge out of red circles; use projectile walls to protect their friends, interrupt boss healing abilities.
It’s true I forgot how low globs have gone down and how much higher elder wood logs have climbed in price. I usually do this in bulk of 100+ and haven’t converted T5 mats to globs in a long while.
How is a glass cannon Elementalist going to work exactly?
How is playing a class with 10k health and 1800 armor going to be fun?
The more bunker Elementalists are nerfed the less useful the Elementalist becomes. I want to see how you’re going to make a glass cannon Elementalist work. I could really use a good laugh today.
If you use artificer; you can convert elder wood, mithril and 15 of any tier 5 crafting materials into lvl 80 rares. You then proceed to salvage these rares for globs of ectoplasms.
This is the most cost efficient way I have found to convert tier 5 crafting materials into ectoplasms.
Is this legit? does it still work after 6 months?
It does.
It’s more expensive now. The dusts use to sell for under 10 copper back in those days. Not anymore.
You played about 8 hours per day for 7 months straight.
If our mobility is removed then why do we have the lowest health and armor in the game?
What’s the sick joke here?
Over 90% of my traits and utilities are useless. I have 1 viable build and 1 set of weapons that are effective.
The Flame and Frost story has uninteresting characters and a forgettable story. The content that we’ve seen related to Flame and Frost is so lackluster that it probably won’t matter that the dungeon is temporary.
If something is to have impact it needs to change the world in a profound way. I don’t think they can do that with the resources they allocate to this project and the fear of changing just about anything.
The Elementalist.
They have the lowest health and armor in the game. That is their weakness. When you strengthen your weaknesses you become much more powerful.
The other weapons are sub par that’s why. I would rather be a ranged caster too but have you looked at the Staff abilities? Ground targeting anything no matter how powerful is easily avoided by a moderately competent player.
Staff is extremely weak.
Mandating team play takes away from the individual; limiting the effectiveness of oneself; depriving otherwise achievable glory and satisfaction
This is ridiculously important when it comes to competition and is the exact reason why I don’t participate in sPVP.
Everyone can agree that team play is extremely important and is what wins games. When it comes to the fans and the spectators; they’re looking for super heroes. Super heroes are athletes with extraordinary abilities.
GW2 doesn’t have athletes because the game doesn’t allow them to exist.
Journalists pay good money for information. Arenanet really needs the cash.
Yeah Arenanet; give me presents because I’m special.
We have a lot of traits that benefits only 1 attunement. I agree; it goes against the design intent of the Elementlist. It looks like the people who created the traits weren’t the same people who created the Elementalist.
Who knows.
It’s their game. That can destroy it as much as they like.
The exchange rate continues its trend in the direction Arenanet wants it to go. Buy gems to covert to gold. I think that once enough gold is in the system they’ll introduce items in the gem store to siphon the gold out of the system.
Runes of Melandru + Bowl of Lemongrass Poultry Soup = insane condition defense.
You’re bored because the game is easy. There’s no challenge. When something is challenging; you have to spend time to practice; refine tactics to learn new skills.
GW2 is like a disneyland type of playground where everyone gets a medal. It’s completely normal to get bored of this.
Unfortunately the developers of GW2 don’t know much about balancing. We’ll have to see if they get better at it over time.
Elementalists have the lowest health and armor in the game. People will find their weaknesses and strengthen them. Give an Elementalist Vitality and Toughness and they’re very powerful. Why? Because their healing, condition removal and mobility are second to none.
Why the developers believe that they can balance classes with base health and armor disparities is beyond my understanding.
A useless item going up in price is hardly anything to be concerned about.
For all we know if could be people moving money around and doesn’t want Arenanet to find out.
I’m curious.
What if they let the gold to gem conversion rate go to say…. 10:1?
1 gold buys 10 gems.
Conversely; buying gems to convert to gold becomes much more attractive.
Suddenly; Arenanet decides to release new items and content that is purchased only with gold. What would you think of their business practices if this happens?
I’m going to laugh so hard when the gold to gem ratio gets to 1:1.
