I don’t understand why developers spend 5 years making these large beautiful worlds to explore when people go through them in less than a month. On top of all this; no one wants or needs to go back to them. Ever.

It appears to be a waste of manpower and resources for a game of this genre.

Or you can just put orbs in your gear for 1/10th the price and still have very good stats.

Not all the stat combinations exist and they will never exist. The reason is due to balance issues. There are certain stat combinations that are too good.

I think I know what you mean. The professions in this game lack combos and thier abilities are quite stale.

Take the Frost Mage from WoW as an example. You had to time your shatter combo’s for burst damage. The toolbox you had made juggling cooldowns a skill mastered by few. The mobility options allowed some professions “classes” to create very clever combos for positioning purposes.

The toolbox for the Elementalist I would say is the most fun of all other professions but, it doesn;t come remotely close to the Frost Mage in WoW. The Thief is very stale compared to the Rogue in WoW.

It’s sad though. I really like GW2 but, the professions are stale. We need more complex combo systems and faster weapon switching.

When the score looks like that on every single tier then there is something seriously wrong with the system.

This has nothing to do with the players.

The only thing wrong with the system is the transfer availability. Everything else is the players fault period

The system doesn’t stop people from playing, players choose to not play
The system doesn’t force people to xfer, players choose to transfer

Stop blaming the system for what the players are doing. Players are choosing to ruin WvW. Even though the system enables xfers the people still choose to do so

You think it is fun for anyone? QAll I want to do is WvW but on the morning on the 2nd day I’m escorting dolyaks and fixing walls cause no opposition is in there. This match isnt fun for 2 reasons; HoD shouldn’t be in it, and SBI rolled over not a single day into the match

I disagree.

There are many factors which contribute to participation. In a system where there is no reward; unlike most other MMO’s; players are playing for fun.

If they don’t come out to play I think it’s because it’s not fun. Or they think it’s not fun. What element is making them think its not fun?

What if WvW reset every 1 hour?

The winning server gets 1 point and the other 2 get 0.

The first server with a score of 3 wins.

Example:

Minimum length 3 hours assuming one server wins 3 in a row.
Maximum length 7 hours assuming the score is 2-2-2 and the seventh hour decides the winner.

Server match ups could be calculated every week or 2. The idea here is to remove the week long score. The assumption here is that once the score appears out of reach to catch up; participation levels drop off dramatically.

When you can kill a lvl 80 NPC just by pressing auto-attack then there’s a serious problem. That’s not casual. I’m not even sure what it is or how to describe it without sounding insulting.

As it stands currently, the game is actually making it too easy to use bots. Resources should not be allocated to police bot activity; this is a waste of time, money and manpower.

Bots could stand still and just autoattack in some dynamic events since NPC’s run up to them. You don’t even need a bot program for this. Just a third party application that presses the same key on your board repeatingly. Or in this case 2 keys, 1 to loot and 1 to attack. Some bots are just running in a circle hitting autoattacks and looting.

Make the NPC’s require higher brain functions to kill.

NPC’s need to be more threatning than this. They should require the player to time thier dodging and use defensive skills to survive.

No one will remember a battle where one side decided to stay home and not fight.

Those aren’t battles at all.

The battles that are remembered are the ones where no one can guess who the winner will be until the very last minute.

I thought botting was going to be difficult too. The dodging mechanic brought a very interesting layer of complexity to the genre.

However, if I just have to click my auto attack and kill a lvl 80 NPC without using ANY other abilitiy; movement or dodging then I’m sorry to say but, the game is an insult to my intelligence.

This game needs to be harder for 2 reasons.

Bots

Bots only have a certain level of intelligence. They generally have lower intelligence than humans. By creating intelligently difficult content, bots would become very inefficient and would be very difficult to program.

Replayability

No one remembers something that is so easy you can do it with one hand or your eyes closed. You can be certain that players will remember something that is difficult. Why? Because it required complex cognitive functions to overcome the obstacle. The sense of accomplishment is profound and people generally enjoy showing off thier achievements if given the opportunity to do so.

The server that gets the influx of players have longer queues and greater numbers which end up making the competion quit early.

Servers that are trailing in points on the scorecard don’t come out to play and when that happens everyone is the loser.

There are no winners.

Anything that involves gambling without knowing the odds is not worth your time and money. The most likely result is that you will lose.

I laugh when the clerk at the convenient store tries to sell me lottery tickets and can’t answer a simple question such as; what are the probabilities of winning?

Deal 5% more damage to burning foes.

Not bad but, most other professions get 10%.

AIR

Zephyr’s Speed
Move 10% faster while attuned to air.

Why only in Air?

Electric Discharge
Strike your target with a bolt of lightning when attuning to air.

At least this one can strike from range.

Weak Spot
60% chance to cause vulerability on crits.

Vulnerability wears off too fast on staff; forcing you to use quick attack weapons which are only avalable at melee range.

EARTH

Stone Flesh
Gain 1 toughness per level while attuned to earth.

Why only in Earth?

Earthen Blast
Damage foes and cripple them for 3 seconds when attuning to earth.

Only useful in melee range… again. Should I just use Daggers at this point?

Enduring Damage
Deal 10% more damage when your endurance is full.

Dodging adds an interesting layer of complexity to gameplay; I find it very strange that developers would reward you for NOT using it.

WATER

Soothing Mist
Regenerate health while attuned to water.

Why only in Water?

Healing Ripple
Heal nearby allies when attuning to water.

Not bad and not that great either.

Bountiful Power
Deal 2% more damage for each boon on you.

How often do you have 5 boons on you? 4? 3?

ARCANE

Arcane Fury
Grant yourself fury for 2 seconds on attunement.

2 whole seconds. TWO. I think my spells take more time to cast; nevermind hit the target in that amount of time.

Lingering Elements
Attunement bonuses linger for 5 seconds.

You know it’s sad when you have to invest 15 points into arcane just to benefit from your other 55 points.

Arcane Precision
Skills have chance to apply a condition on critical hits.

Fire: burning for 1 second
Water: vulnerability for 9 seconds
Air: weakness for 3 seconds
Earth: bleeding for 5 seconds

The chance is so low that it almost forces you into a crit build and use Arcane abilities.

Game that’s almost a decade old (WoW released Nov 2004) is bound to have more end-game content than one released a month ago.

Except it doesn’t. Unless they changed it up in MoP, endgame consisted of running the same instance hundreds of times for that “special” drop. Maybe pet battles are now endgame content, idk:)

For the new player and not one that has played the game since creation, wow has an overwhelming amount of endgame.

I like the end game more in Guid Wars 2 than in WoW by a long shot. I would prefer to repeat the Guild Wars 2 content more so than WoW.

For one, the open world is actually challenging. There are a lot of threatning NPC’s that swarm me and kill me If I’m not paying attention. I actually have to run for my life in an MMO in the open world. WoW was a snooze fest. No NPC was ever threatning.

Dungeons are challenging and offer different mechanics not found in WoW. Like avoiding and dodging traps and running for your life.

WvW. Enough said. Probably the most fun gaming experience I have ever had. I’m in a big organized guild with a lot of field commanders though, I can’t say the same for people who are not.

Spvp. Balance and gameplay are not very enjoyable right now. I tried it and it’s not my cup of tea. You can tell that there are very few people who play Spvp.

The demand is always higher than the supply. The price keeps rising everyday. If demand doesn’t pick up those things will be selling for a small fortune.

I thought dynamic events would be more challengng than this.

NPC’s should have telegraphed abilities that would require the player to dodge or get out of the way or else they’d get owned; hard. I would like to see more suicide NPC’s that run up to you and explode. NPC’s that drop mines and traps.

I’d like to see NPC’s attack a town with catapults and trebs and attack from 3 different locations at once.

The set you are looking for is called the Duelist set. It is a lvl 70 exotic medium armor set. It has a prefix like Berserker or Rampager. Just do a search in the trading post for Berserker’s Duelist and you see the full set listed.

Incentives for Dynamic Event Participation

The game as it is currently designed creates incentives to funnel all players into 1 zone; Cursed Shore. No other zone compares to the amount of XP gain, currency gain and quality of items. I assume that there will be more lvl 80 content later on just by looking at the map however, Tyria is so vast, mystic and beautiful. It pains me to see so few people in mid level zones. There’s so much content to experience there but, no incentives to do so.

The biggest issue with the Elementalist right now is that the weapon choice pigeon holes the player into a certain playstyle. Other professions have a weapon swap system that allows them to either range or melee.

The Staff could definatley use the following…

-increased projectile velocity
-lower cooldowns
-2 attunments that focuses on single target damage
-2 attunments that focuses on multi-target damage

HoD will probably bore themselves of long queues and playing against doors and walls. The servers competing against them will probably be participating in other activities during prime time. There are a lot of awesome games coming out soon and the beauty is Guild Wars 2 has no subscription fee.

Servers that play against HoD will eventually stop investing time and money into WvW if the nightcapping continues. There is no point to invest so much when it’ll be taken away when everyone is sleeping or working. What will eventually happen is lower WvW participation against HoD. HoD will end up playing with themselves which will be fun for no one.

The problem as I see it is that eventually, everyone becomes the loser because of how the system was designed.

No one can compete against a server that has more players 24/7. It’s not about skill; it’s about resources. HoD might have guilds from different time zones or more unemployed people playing on it. The fact of the matter is; the average player on ET cannot play during weekdays and early mornings.

Until Oceanic servers are brought up and IPs from different continents play on thier own servers; this will remain an issue.

I’ve re-rolled Warrior and feel a lot more effective on the field. PVE or PVP, doesn’t matter.

My Warrior has…

9000 more health
700 more armor
500 more power (850 with signets activated)
30% more critical chance
300 more condition damage (600 with signets activated)
Single target burst damage at 10k+ (single hit) on light armor.

I lose ground targeted AoE and combo fields and gain all of the above? Ok.

Seeing map/armors/stuck/weapons or other art issues?

Whenever I go into water, the textures on my boots change to a gray color. It looks as though the original texture is gone. I’m wearing light feathered boots and changed color dye to blood/illumination. What’s even more strange is when I unequip the boots and put them back on, the texture resets to the original.

I have attached 2 images to illustrate the problem.

*Update (this problem occurs no matter which boots I buy (transmute and change color dye).

The Elementalist sacrafices too much single target damage, health and armor for the ability to use 20 skills. There are many utilities in those 20 skills but, thier cooldowns are long and it almost forces me to invest heavily in Arcane and cooldown reduction traits. I’m a very fast player; all my abilities are keybound and it’s not fast enough.

Other classes have HALF the abilities on MUCH shorter cooldowns. The toolbox of some professions are smaller but, much more effective.

Just roll a Warrior. All your problems are solved.

-Kill players and NPC’s at twice the speed.
-Twice as much HP
-Much higher Armor
-80%+ crit chance depending on spec
-1200 range rifle that one shots players in PVP
-Pierce multiple targets in a line at 1200 range with the rifle.
-Very high melee AoE damage and mobility.
