Why remove Lightning flash Stun removal?

Calae.1738

I compare it to blink. Blink it just better due to recharge and stun breaking. Lightning Flash deals damage, but I don’t know of anyone who ever used the skill for offense.

You don’t?

Swap to earth, cast earthquake followed by a quick lightning flash to your target.
If both crit you’re looking at around 6k damage. While your target is laying on the ground, swap to lightning for a quick zap, updraft, swap to fire, burning speed then fire grab.

6k from lightning flash and earth 4? It is lies like that, that get classes nerfed. While we are at it, my air 1 does 2.5k, and my fire 5 does 19k, and my water 5 does 7k…

All ele nerfs should be removed.

It depends how much power you’re rolling with. In WvW with bloodlust stacks I’m running around with 2300 power. My food buff gives me 200 power for 30 sec after killing anything that grants XP. Factor in some might stacks and power can easily reach 3000.

What do you gain and what do you lose?

I play double dagger. Going Celestial makes me lose Power and Toughness for a little more Crit, Crit Damage, Healing and Condition damage.

Dagger main hand is terrible with conditions. The increase in crit and crit damage doesn’t offset the loss of power. Not by a longshot. So I’m basically trading toughness for healing? Pointless. Just like Celestial gear. Totally pointless.

Might be useful for a scepter user maybe.

august 6 reducing skill lag?

in WvW

Posted by: Calae.1738

Calae.1738

These particular changes are indeed on the client-side. They won’t impact lag, unfortunately. We are still both investigating additional ways to combat skill lag, not that there are any particularly good looking options at the moment, and continuing to make improvements to overall game performance as we can.

That’s because you’re probably looking at it from a technical viewpoint and not a game design viewpoint.

Your objective capture system and world XP system promotes zerg play.
Your siege system and supply system promotes zerg play.
Rally systems and downed states also promotes zerg play.

Zerg play is the cause of skill lag. As a game designer; if that’s what you are; you haven’t explored options to reduce zerg play. Set up a test server and alter some rules. Let the community help in creating a rule set.

The answer to that question is obvious. We all leave, and they’ll be glad to be rid of us flaming their forums so they can focus on running their PvE Special Olympics, where everyone gets a gold medal just for showing up:

Hey there. Can you press 1 alot? Hurray! Here’s a gold medal, some achievement points, a guaranteed rare drop, a chance at a precursor, and you’re one step closer to that next achievement point tier! Yay! Your very a special player!

At the current rate of improvement its just a matter of time till I uninstall, and that length of time is directly related to the release of Bungie’s Destiny on PC.

Well… think about it for a second….

You own nothing in GW2. It is the property of arenanet. So before you decide to buy that armor for 50$; keep the following in mind.

1) We own nothing in GW2. We purchase a license to use the software.
2) How much time did it take to make? Is it worth the price?
3) They can duplicate the item an infinite amount of times.

The part I hate the most about this practice is that they don’t publish the probabilities of their lottery systems and target the game to people 13 years and older. How many people that age understand statistics? Besides young brains are easy to manipulate and take advantage of.

Death is quite an inconvenience isn’t it? You have to open the map and click on a way point and run back. Wouldn’t it be more simple for someone to take time out of their game to help me get back up? I guess that would depend on how inconvenient it is to resurrect that player.

This was to be expected.

The downed state places an icon over a player’s head which displays a signal to everyone else. Depending on who you’re playing with; that icon can mean a few things.

1) Oops, help?
2) I’m worth some XP if you rub me for a bit?
3) I’m new around here I might go down a few more times.
4) I’m a terrible player and I’m a liability to the group.

If you expect to be resurrected every time you should ask yourself if you’re really needed by the group or not. I’ve 2 manned and even solo’d 5 player content before. Some players are better left dead unfortunately.

Calae.1738

The downed state is very likely a permanent fixture in GW2 due to it’s function in PvP. It is not there to provide you with an escape, it’s not there for your friends to rez you, it is there to provide the enemy player with the ability to stomp, which is nothing more than a power trip that most of the player-base gets off on. The act of murdering a helpless individual makes them giddy, and the downed state provides the closest thing they can get to non-consensual PvP. This is exacerbated by the fact that you can stomp anyone in a downed state, even if you did no damage to them at all, so even people who don’t PvP very well at all can “feel the power” and get the thrill of taking someones life without having to fire off a single shot.

I doubt that very heavily. These are ideas borrowed straight out of Gears of War and Borderlands. They’re designed to create a certain pace of gameplay. How many inconveniences can they remove to “enhance” the experience?

Unfortunately the only experience these developers are enhancing is boredom.

I beginning to think that death is such an inconvenience for most people that once they die it’s like the whole world stopped spinning. They just give up. Drop the controller and go home.

We have all forgotten what makes experiences memorable loaded with the adrenaline rush of success. Risk.

The downed state and rally systems reduces risk by reducing inconveniences. I’m not advocating that your character be deleted if you died as that would be a ridiculous extreme but; at the very least make death a serious consequence and major inconvenience.

Water = Cleansing Wave, Cantrip Mastery
Arcana = Elemental Attunement, Renewing Stamina

Utility slots = Lighting Flash, Signet of Air, Mist Form
Elite = Conjure Fiery Greatsword

Armor
Search for all 6 armor pieces with the pre-fix Knight’s. (level 65 masterwork)

Socket a major Sigil of Bloodlust on the offhand dagger.

Why Can't We Have More "Revealing" Armor?

in Suggestions

They’ve stated in the past that armor sets in GW2 is a lot more work than GW1.

In GW1 you only had 1 playable race; humans. In GW2 you have 5. When they make an armor in GW2 they have to make it fit on 5 races and scale it appropriately to the model scaling.

They stated that GW2 will have cosmetic rewards. How many armor sets were created after release? 1 or 2? Engineers can’t even make full use of weapon skins and back skins.

This is a classic example of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.

The developers have a wait and see approach to balancing.

When they change or add something they don’t know the effects of what they’ve created. They let the community play with it then turn the knobs to adjust it. In other words the developers have no templates; they have no idea what each class is supposed to be or supposed to do.

I think the developers don’t have a main design idea of what sPVP should be and how the game play should feel.

They’re just reacting to player feed back and not being proactive at anything. It’s one giant experiment with chemists randomly mixing things together hoping they’ll stumble on a solution.

I don’t believe an ally should have the ability to erase what an opponent has created. Which is what healing is in a nutshell. It’s an eraser.

I believe allies should have a toolbox that shields me from taking damage. If you want real skill to come into play; death needs to have a serious consequence. Death may be temporarily avoided only if an ally can skillfully shield you from a killing blow.

Running up to someone; healing and reviving them not only makes no sense at all; but is the province of unskilled players.

You couldn’t be more wrong. Certain professions excel in punishing res-rushing, specifically those who bring heavy damage support. Many situations when one person goes down can result in their entire team going down when attempting to revive their allies. It’s an active decision you have to make and adds more to the playing field. If you aren’t able to make the stomp, maybe you should try learning every profession’s downed state and adapt to it.

It’s not death. Just because your health bar went to zero and is replaced by a set of skills to potentially give you a second wind doesn’t mean that it’s broken. More often than not you can easily escape death, and quite a few builds for both my warrior and thief have revolved around the downed state to allow me to fight more than 1 opponent under glassier conditions. When you find your niche in the game, you cannot discount the fact that you have a downed state. Learn to use it properly and the game will have worlds more layers of combat complexity.

I didn’t just learn to use it; I abuse it. Just like any poorly designed mechanic before it.

-I can revive players while invulnerable.

You don’t tag off of downed players anymore. This was fixed in a recent PvP update to slow rank progression but also affected WvW.

Secondly, you only have 3 downs within a certainly long period of time before you’re instantly dead.

Lastly, if you’d care to screenshot both your /age and /deaths across all of your characters that’d be great, because I guarantee you that you’ll contradict your own point of “death is escapable every time”.

Why does someone need to be lying down on the floor for it to create interesting and strategic gameplay? This is completely absurd.

The down-state makes no sense what so ever no matter which angle you’re looking at it from.

1) Strategy and team play elements aside; what is it exactly that you’re doing on the floor? Fight to survive? What does that mean? I’m waving my hand in the air and healing myself? When an ally gets down next to me; they appear to be rubbing me. Rubbing me with what? What is this rubbing action doing exactly? Applying a bandage? Providing arousal?

When I look at this down-state I can’t help but laugh at how ridiculous it looks. Yes, more ridiculous than hurling a fireball from my fingertips.

2) So you think your ally lying down on the floor brings some “dramatic” or strategic team play element to combat? I don’t. Being on the floor makes me feel like a useless cripple. People have become accustomed to being revived too. When they go down; they don’t even have the courtesy to take a way point and run back. I have to take time out of my game to revive them.

Guild Wars 2 didn’t get rid of the trinity. It turned everyone into healers. You go down; someone can just come up to you and heal you. They can even revive you. Death has little consequence because anyone can cover up your bad play. Which in turn is the reason why Guild Wars 2 players are so terrible at the game. There is little reason or incentive to improve your play when someone else can just run up to you and fix your mistakes.
