At this point people are getting entirely too worked up over this. I find some of the selfish reactions interesting. People are upset about farming keys, but overarching purpose of a new character for most people (especially new people) is to actually play the game and what they intend is to make this a better experience for the bulk of the people. Much like people complaining that champ trains were nerfed but in reality it was pretty much only the starter areas because of people being kittens when some new player killed one of the champs.
I doubt they’ll remove keys from the early game, otherwise how would new players be introduced to them?
I did the QD champ train before it was nerfed. And I have to say, it actually is a good thing they did nerf it. To be frank, it was boring. It shortened the life expectancy of the game. People were complaining that something should be done about the QD champ farm – to avoid it at all costs (especially to new players). And now people are complaining that it was nerfed. Why complain about an event that shortened the life expectancy of the game?.
Really disappointing. I was looking forward to a Mordrem dungeon. The mobs and bosses they have used in living story would make for a very fun dungeon. They would just need to make the bosses harder and have a few more attacks. Most of the work would be just designing the dungeon map. No need for puzzles, just fill it with mordrem. Oh well, i guess anet plan to let their game slowly die out.
To be fair, one dev did post on the forum saying it takes about 6-12 mths to make a map. Add dungeon to that map and I guess it will take much longer.
Look, I agree blaming the developers is silly.
Maybe the funds just aren’t getting to where they need to be going, Maybe the publisher sees it as a demographic conflict with Wildstar, Maybe they’ve put GW2 on the back burner in order to diversify the studio into an entirely new IP.
God only knows what’s behind a decision like this – but I can’t imagine they made it lightly or with any ill intent. At the same time, you can’t be so wrapped up in pointing fingers you go around blaming Players for it instead.
If the mode is underplayed, it’s because we had an endless procession of the same complaints at least once a week for two years that for whatever reason couldn’t be addressed. That’s all. Not that dungeon running in an MMORPG has suddenly become an odd eclectic niche activity. Not that players playing the same thing aud nauseum because the mode can’t grow with the rest of the game should feel ashamed for getting bored. Not that the dungeon community started pushing people away before they started leaving enmasse themselves. Not that folks should be perfectly happy with a PvE that isn’t making the most of the combat system and the skill curve it presents.
Just a simple allocation of resources made for reasons we can’t fathom much less judge
You’re kind of right by saying there seems to be a lack of resources made available to the devs. Going by this article. It kind of tallies up to what some of the posters have been saying.
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2014-02-14-guild-wars-2-in-steep-decline-in-weak-q4-for-ncsoft
To para-phase:
“Ncsoft’s flagship MMO Guild Wars 2 showed a decline in sales and revenue, making ?34 billion ($32 million) in Q4, 2013. That’s down from ?119 billion ($112 million) in the prior year’s quarter, when the game launched”.
-“A power hungry individual, be it a cult, or a power hungry character (Caudecus) that takes advantage of the dragon plight to gain power in their own homeland and influence, seemingly not a major threat at first, but once they amass enough power, they become one.”
I think in the last episode during the noble party. Caudecus has repeatedly been linked to a power grab, but due to lack of evidence, never been proven / linked to any of these machinations. But it will be interesting if he does go for a power grab openly, during these turbulent times.
Engineer. Love playing that class. Whilst it has a higher learning curve, it has various skills and builds that make it great to play. I’m also leveling up a guardian for dungeon runs.
You know, you can use guildportal, shivtr or enjin to be your guild site. And you can incorporate your blog with the site.
Try lowering your graphics settings. This issue recently started to occur again. But not as frequent as it was the last time I had it.
The fight itself isn’t hard – but it is annoying at times. I died quite a few times, but this was due to being hit by conditions, more than anything else. Just time your dodges, to move out of the attacks.
So far GW2 was killed be MoP, TESO and Wildstar at least, and it will be killed by
Cows in Bikinis, Archeage and Black Desert
MoP didn’t live up to the hype, nor expectations. TESO also didn’t live up to the hype and became somewhat irrelevant, despite having a solid name behind it. Wildstar whilst doing well, failed to kill GW2.
In short, them games you mentioned have failed “to kill GW2”. If anything, they have been killed by their own hype. As for Archeage and Black Desert, people like you throw them around, as if they are some sort of kryptonite to GW2. Whether they live up to expectation and hype is another matter. Don’t be surprised if they are killed by their own hype though.
I was pugging AC P1 once. They decided to skip Kholer so I lured him into the burrow room where he obliterated everyone. 10 seconds later I saw the Plains of Ashford loading screen.
That is really bad in one way, but hilarious in another! xDD. Not surprised you got kicked.
Yes, you use the place of power. It will charge your residue.
Hi Ann : D
Whilst the guild I’m with has 33 members. We do have regulars that are on more often than not. The guild itself is on the aurora glade server. And we do have an age requirement 21+. You can read the guilds recruitment post here.
Hey Jinzo : D
Well, I’m with a guild that is on the aurora glade server. We do have an age requirement though 21+. For more you can read this post here. And most of the guild members use guild chat a lot xDD. And you can listen in, since we also have TS. Also we have a French member in our guild xDD – so that might help you settle in to our little guild.
We are still looking for active members, who enjoy having some fun together, to become a part of little guild, that handles it’s own life and guild missions! The only thing we wait from our members – be ready to be a real part of a guild, not a silent number in our roster ;P We are friendly, and don’t eat people
Cannibalism ftw!!! : D, xDD j/k.
Of course, here come the white knights to ride to Anet’s rescue. Nothing excuses sloppy writing (reusing tired old themes with a lot of “convenient” similarities to other RPGs), and nobody can deny that the Omadd’s machine sequence is a direct ripoff from Mass Effect. The “coincidences” are more than coincidences; the circumstances of the entire bit happen exactly like Mass Effect. It’s not just the vision that’s a ripoff, the way that the entire scene unfolds happens exactly the same as the scene with Commander Shepard.
And here is the white knight defending Biowares game. If you want to talk about sloppy writing, then ME III ending was very sloppy indeed. As for similarities, whilst there may be some influences taken from ME. The actual implementation is applied differently. As some one said, nothing is 100% original. And no the entire scene and vision was not exact at all. So to say it was a rip off is incorrect. But hey, feel free to leave and play ME instead. You won’t be missed.
Hey Nika,
Well the guild I’m with is on the aurora glade server. And we have a 21+ age requirement. We don’t mind helping out new players. You can read the guild recruitment post here.
Okay lets try this again, for the sake of discussion, let’s say you’ve completed all the living stories PRIOR to the new one in Maguma Jungle. If you, want to go back to replay a previous one, you must eithet buy it with gems, or wander around asking if you can join some that hasn’t played it and is willing to buy it, or has bought it.
Okay let’s try this again. Season 1 will NOT be available via through the journal. If YOU have completed all of the living stories and gotten all of the rewards and achievement points. Why would you want to pay for re-doing them again?. Your ‘concern’ makes no sense.
Whilst it took me several attempts with my engi to get it right. I finally managed to beat Aerin. For some classes, the fight might be frustrating – initially. But once you get the hang of the mechanics, then your good to go. Personally, the fight was frustrating but okay.
I can understand your problem Stareyes. Having a newly created guild and recruiting new members is one serious tough slug. You have to work thrice as hard to get new members. But if you keep at it, and keep banging at doors. Then eventually people will start to take notice and give your guild a shot.
I’m not really sure if you are trying to recruit people from LoL on to this game. If you are, then chances are they won’t come on. But if you solely focus on GW2. Then players will more than likely join your guild (make sure they fit in to your guild). The guild I’m with only started out with 3 (the two guild leaders, i was the first public member). But with hard work and some convincing, it has grown, since it first started out way back in January.
Running a guild was never going to be straightforward. If you decide that your guild Phoenix flare gaming won’t work out as you hoped it would, then best of luck in finding a new guild : ).
Hey LittleZoe,
Well you could try the guild I’m with. It’s on the Aurora glade server. You can red the recruitment post here. The age requirement might put you off (21+), but I think we can make an exception. The guild does have TS. But you’re not forced to come on it. And we do have an active guild chat. Where one guild member…. certainly makes it feel more like a carnival is in town :’D.
Hello Akuma,
To help you out with your new ventures, might you take the time to read this post to help you out.
Best of luck
.
This might be frowned up, though not really sure. But to the more newer guild with less than <10 members. It might be a good idea to buy influence from the guild registrar. Buy at least 1,000 with about 2 gold. With this, you can buy a guild emblem. It will help to kick start your guild.
The guild is still actively recruiting, looking for peeps that will be a good fit. For more info, check out the guilds site.
Hey Thunderpotato,
Why not read this post, to help out with your recruitment. It gives tips and info in general about how to run guilds and stuff.

You might want to read this post to help you out with recruiting from within game and forum.
Hey Diabo,
It would be great if you read this post to give you some help on how to recruit in game and from the forum. It gives tips on other guild stuff as well.
Hey Chinadoll,
Well why don’t you give this little ol’ guild I’m with a try. It’s on the Aurora Glade server. It does have a age requirement 21+. But we are eccentric in our own little way. You can read the recruitment post here.
Hey Damiel,
Well it sounds like the guild I’m with can help you out there. It’s on the Aurora glade server, so you can guest over anytime. We do have an age requirement though 21+. You can read the guilds recruitment post here.
Hey Bitterdude,
Well it sounds like the guild I’m with can help you out there. It’s on the Aurora glade server, so you can guest over anytime. We do have an age requirement though 21+. You can read the guilds recruitment post here.
The game certainly needs:
- New areas / maps
- New dungeon
- New skills
- New armor and weapon
These 4 alone will keep the game interesting. And keep the player coming back on and playing.
Things that must be in a template:
- Weapons
- Sigils
- Rune
- Amulet
- Skills
- Traits
These are the essentials that people are asking. Anything else are bonuses. By having more skills and traits [even fixing some of the broken ones]. These open up new builds. This correlates to the devs vision of ‘diverse’ builds within the game. As for weapons, if you are introducing new “legendary” weapons, make these relevant to the game world ie LS / PS. And make them hard to obtain and not trade-able on the TP. If people are finding it hard to obtain these new legendary weapons, they can always fall back on to the current ones, by increasing the precursor drop rate.
If you want to transfer servers, it costs gems. 1800 to be exact. Gems can be bought via through the Trading post. Or you can delete all your characters and transfer over for free. Make sure you leave all valuable items in your personal bank. So your new characters can access them, if needed be.
Hello MidnightLeaf.
I thought that I would re-direct you to this post to give you some valuable tips as to how you should go about recruiting new members on this game. It would be great if you passed on the link & all the info I’ve told you, to your other guild member Eniette as well.
State what server you are on. People can’t cross guest on servers. If people are on the NA servers, they can’t guest over to any EU servers. And vice versa. But they can guest over on any NA servers. Same goes with EU. For all the guild up grades. If they are one the same server as you, they will have access to the upgrades. However, if they are on a different server. They will not have access to them, this boils down to the distribution of influence. Think of the main guild on your server as HQ and other branches of the guild on other servers as offices.
Don’t hesitate to ask questions : D.
I have an issue with new guys who don’t say they’re new. This isn’t just some kind of oppressive elitism, either. I form the group with the LFG title “All welcome”, and when all players arrive, I ask if anyone is new to the dungeon or doesn’t know what to do, or needs anything to be explained.
Of course, we’ll all sit there for about 3 solid minutes before someone manages a “yes”. But, often times, there will be no response. So, I assume everyone has done the dungeon or knows what to do. The moment we get to a gimmicky boss, the group wipes 3 times in a row before someone says “lol I don’t no wut to do here lol”. Its like, why didn’t you say something in the first place? Why did I have to watch your butt get destroyed three times before you thought it might be prudent to bring up your lack of knowledge on the matter?
I actually do understand what you mean. I sometimes pug and ask the same thing, “is this their first time”. And like you said, it’s normally not answered straight away. And you’ll be lucky to get one or two to answer. I wouldn’t say oppressive elitism. The issue is the fact that, they treat this as if they are in the library – staying quiet. The silent killer is silence. This is an MMO, where communication is necessary. I try to encourage them to talk, to communicate. From my own personal experience, if I can get along with the person who opened the dung, then a satisfying run is had. But when there is silence – expect a very painful ride.
Hey Winta,
Well the guild I’m with, might be what your looking for. It’s on the Aurora glade server. You can take a look at the guild recruitment post here. We do have an age requirement though.
Hey Artaire : D
You can check out the guild I’m with. It’s on the Aurora glade server, you can guest over any time. The guild is pretty much a casual guild, that does do all the said things you wish to do. You can check out the guild recruitment post here. Don’t mind the age requirement, we can make exceptions.
Hey up Rae : D
What server are you on??. The guild I’m with is on the Aurora glade server (EU server), you can guest over if you’re on any EU server. The guild does guild trek every Sunday. You can read the guilds recruitment post here.
Some people use this game as a dating website. I saw an lfg post the other day saying " "Looking for a cute woman near Chicago "
…. this explains my reaction.
Haven’t really seen this guy in map chat. But from the comments above, the guy really needs to be blocked and see a psychiatrist as well. This is a game, not a dating site.
1-for the mobs
2-the more players in the area of the event, the more health the boss has
3-they do not have an affect on land
4-rolling swamp means to keep entering the fractals until the first fractal is swamp, cause it is the fastest fractal.
^ pretty much explained.
Most likely they are attempting the new LS, that is going on at the moment. But agree the areas are a bit empty. Compare that before the mega server. Vast amounts of maps and areas were literally dead.
The guild usually hosts small guild events, like hide and seek. For more info, check out the guilds website to see when they are hosted. And they are fun.
Hi MiXeriZe : D
Since you’re on a EU server, you can check out the guild I’m with. It’s on the Aurora Glade server, so you can guest over to any EU servers. You can read the recruitment post here. We can make an exception to the age requirement, since you’re pretty much a newbie to the game.
Hey Hakan : D,
you can check out the guild i’m with. It’s on the Aurora glade server. So you can guest over if need be. You can read the recruitment post here.
Sad to hear you’re guild-less Lilith
. A really good player of your caliber deserves a good place. It’s scandalous to hear that many guilds aren’t readily snapping you up, so you can call that guild home. You’d be a major asset to the guild, which ever one you end up in.
GW2 has become such a toxic player base.
And you wonder why people are continually leaving this game….
I’m going to use this analogy. For players like you to try and see from seasoned dungeons runners perspective.
When you apply for a certain college course, they have certain grades/requirements. Now these certain college course have a standard to uphold – they aren’t going to accept anyone with any grade level. If you don’t fulfill these requirements, then the college course has the right to deny you a place on the course. In favour of someone that does meet their requirements.
If these courses are only accepting people with certain grades – why can’t the dunegon runners on GW2?. If there is an issue with attitudes, which you get from a minority of the dungeon player base – I get that. However you can’t hold the rest accountable for it. They can’t do much, if they don’t know who the player is. They can advise you as to what you can do, if certain players are behaving inappropriately in dungeon runs. Like for instances, lfg: “all welcome – casual run. No experience needed”, you joined and then for no fault of your own, they kick you (and others) and then change it to “zerk gears, lvl 80. No noobs” at some point in the dungeon.
