Actually, Guanglai, its not nearly as you say it . Both rangers and warriors are amazing in open world PvE , however in WvW and Dungeons warrior is vastly superior but very bad in SPvP.
Ranger, while playable , is fairly inefficient in dungeons and in zerg WvW warfare, but quite reliable in PvP or WvW roaming .
There already exists a class for new players, THE WARRIOR .
I use birds with 30 in BM , 3 mights on swap for pet, vigor on swap for me , quickness . Works great for me for roaming
After thinking for a while on this subject, i have concluded that I would actually love the LB to be a hybrid weapon, not a pure DPS one .
1-Stays as is , with a tier of attack removal or a slight buff or whatnot
2-Rapid fire redesigned to fire 4 arrows over 3 seconds , each arrow does damage and applies an effect for 2-3 seconds
1st arrow applies 3 stacks of vulnerability
2nd arrow applies poison
3rd arrow applies burning
4th arrow applies a Weakness
3-Removed in favor of High powered shot – Long channel up to 5 seconds, can be fired prematurely . The longer the charge the higher the damage and knockback
4-Frost arrow /we so need it, its in every fantasy game :p/ – Fire a ground targeted arrow that inflicts 2-3 seconds of chilled in a medium sized AOE . Blast finisher
5-Stays as is
I absolutely dont care about the balance side of it , that is up to number tweakings
Actually , the game compensates the lack of utilities and elites with increased stats .
Actually i would take zephyr, LR, SS and entangle . And the 20% cooldown in wilderness and 20% sword cooldown , and run LB and GS . Probably even a mix of rabid and rampager . At least get that armor up to 2500
I do not think this SOTG was bad . What i do mind is that none of the participants were pushing the developer . It seemed like everyone patting each other on the back . Kind of removes the point of it imo

I would actually love spirits being little auras around you, giving passive buffs to allies .
I would rather be defensive and hit like a wet tissue , then die in 2 hits and hit like a peace of toilet paper .

If you want burst, go with birds .
afaik, the strongest build is the spirit build atm
There is a solid build with mercy runes, altruistic healing and 30 in BM for quickness . Team build though
man, i have no idea. A lot of the patch changes were not really thought out properly
moving of all pet skills to the F bar, only the auto attack should be automatic .
it was 5000 units , now its 2000
each stack of might adds 35 power and condition damage

u can cancel it between the attack chain steps , not during leaps . You buff pet and do great dps while homing in on the target, but you have to learn to time it better. It is a fair trade off and this game needs more weapons like this, not less
I just hope that it does not focus only on PvP , as that is the area ranger performs best at . The issues are mostly in PvE dungeons and WvW
i just switched natural healing for Zephyr . using birds as well . normal 0 0 30 10 30 build with apo armor.
its an eccentric utility weapon . Too many weapons are strait forward no skill low apm boring weapons . This one is fun because it is anything but working like other weapons . Leave it be
again, it is an l2p issue . If you are using it in pve, press 1 manually . The game is to easy as it is

pet survivability in dungeons and high level fractals . Microing reduces dps , or they can get 1 shotted easily even if microed well .
That way you would completely kill a build and a style

I agree , if you are going to go in your enemies face, this is the way to go . However , in dungeons , … heh if you decide to play a ranger, having sets with clear roles is better
Chopps, i am 100% sure now that you are trolling people on purpose . You mention damage pets as if they actually do damage anymore and that there exists a trade off between survivability and toughness within the pet stable .
There exists a low damage low durability pet , and even lower damage , semi durable pet .
While i might agree that black bear and polar bear are looking far more viable now, it sure as hell isnt because both are good, on the contrary, everything else became SO BAD . There is a reason behind berserker longbow rangers with bears being the laughing stock of the GW2 community . Am i rite?

BM builds were not too powerfull in PvP either . Just compare them to any other dominant builds of other classes, or count the games on top level play where a team would take a ranger over an ele or guard . Not many ? Any Did not think so ..
Well , it has become obvious enough for everyone that the Shortbow ate a blanket nerf . I could live with that if this was only the first step towards making the weapon an interesting and dynamic choice , a real skirmishing weapon if you will . An increase in utility if you will .
So, what would make the weapon be cool and reliable again ?
The simple route – Reduced cooldowns by default
With reduced cooldowns this weapon would become a real short range skirmishing , mobility and utility weapon whilst making you true to the supposed design
What 2 and 4 were on a 7 second cooldown and 5 was on a 20 second one ?? What if 3 was on a 5 second cooldown ?? /random numbers/
Would that make the weapon interesting ??
Honestly , if they removed the flanking need for Crossfire bleeds, and lowered the cooldowns by default , it would actually be a skirmishing weapon as it would allow you to zipp around and have far more utility
Again, this is not a question of whether something can be done or not with the Ranger , i could run on fractals 30 with no gear on and dance on every boss encounter and my friends would laugh and accept that . The question is if you can do it as efficiently as other classes , be it damage or usefulness .
Having a guardian, warrior , mesmer , ele or even a thief makes it so much easier to clear then doing it with a ranger …. you are light years ahead without the ranger .
And I am saying this as a 98% ranger player here .

Spirits are the same , one trait merge wont change the fact that they are fundamentally broken . They can have some uses in tower defense if you place them well enough , you can even do a bleed type build on the longbow using on crit bleed, sharp stones and fire spirit to deliver AOE conditions . But , they wont see much use as long as the rewards are bad and the terms of use totally not in our favou
Actually , if you want an overall good ranged class, try playing Mesmer or Scepter Ele . Both are very good at range
I would not take a ranger into fractals over lvl 40 ever , and i am a ranger player . You can do fractals 30-38 with pretty much any comp other then having at least 1 guardian on shaman .
And no, I am actually not gonna try new things as that costs gold and time , both of which i would rather spend playing my Warrior or Guardian in PvE now because :
1- they are much better at it
2- longbow berserker ranger is inefficient and usually a burden for the team
3- berserker longbow rangers have zero utility and the gameplay is actually quite boring .
or just make the longbow a condition weapon as well tee hee hee
no, Rifle can burst really well however . But warrior GS is the highest DPS weapon in the game and is the reason Warriors are kings of PvE
ranger DPS will never be the meta because every other class does it much better with half the effort . It is pure mathematics really , ranger benefits far less from power then other classes and on top of it its 20-whatever% of damage dies to a stiff breeze in high level content .
Furthermore dungeon bosses are designed to have low toughness and high HP pools hence condition specs are far less desirable then raw DPS ones , but i digress .
Do not kitten your party by having a subpar class in high level PvE content .

Actually , BM builds were not OP if you are facing anyone who knows how to Joust or Circle Strafe .
PvP may or may not have been the problem as pets have the same stat pool but players have a lower one , and you are forced to fight on point . But even then i would argue that guardians are far better and bunkering and that elementalists are just better at everything .
My shortbow range is so short, when i shoot it i hit myself in the back!!
Why u no use Nature protection instead of regen duration ??
