What? but you just said something completely different.!!!!!! if you want answers get your story straight. Do you play a lot or 4 hours a day? guess you really are attempting to troll. You’re so bad at it. Another one to report.

Not sure what you’re getting at. Is 4 hours a day not considered “a lot”? I would assume it does, as I play all game modes. Then after I finish the 4 hours on my main, I log into my alt for an hour before I go to sleep. Weekends I might play a couple of hours more per account.

Anyways, you never answered my question. How is it that my accounts are the complete opposite of what your theory calls for? Why is RNG better for an account I play a lot, and not for the account I do on the side? I still play both daily. It’s not like Anet flipped a switch to give me better loot, simply because I support their system.

By the way, I give John permission to look into my account data to prove my story, if that helps you any.

Then if you play both daily you don’t match criteria for the theory. if you would actually read thread you would see its about accounts that don’t get played often. not daily, not every 2 days, or 3.
Answer : Both your accounts RNG is active because its played daily. (not those accounts who just rest for long times)

Answer : The longer you play the larger the qauntity of loot you earn (duh)

You say you need to let the account sit before it gets better loot. Essence Snow’s post said one of his accounts gets better loot when he plays them both. How can these both be right?

Here’s my issue: My newer account gets drastically better loot. My main account hardly ever gets exotics while my new account gets them frequently. I had always had suspicion that certain players had better drops on average than other. In my guild and ally guilds we know which players will consistently get better drops. It’s so predictable it’s not funny. But, as all that was second hand I couldn’t ever really experience it for myself. Well, now I have. Snip

because he asked me about my theory, not about Essence, didn’t he?
his account is recent purchase with very low playtime and getting better loot. This represents a full loot experience but as he continues to play his loot will start to slowly diminish with age providing less and less favorable outcomes. BUT if he takes this account and leave it for 2 months his loot experience refills. granting the first kill exceptional quality. This explains the people logging in for the first in a while and getting unique exotics and most recently happened with a whole bunch of players returning to farm beta portals.

Do you want more proof of this?
If you were playing during the first year they had done a big server reset and people were rolled back. then EVERYBODY, yes EVERYBODY that was playing had their first few drops minutes after reset as unique Exotics. i got mine from some low level in Wayfarer Foothills. Some people got 2 some got 3. it wasn’t a long waiting period but it was an account reset that affected the “RNG” information in some way granting everyone favorable loot. its happened before it can be happening again only affected by something else such as inactivity.

His post that says he plays both and gets different rewards contradicts your theory where you said “Now you got it. Play your main all the time and stay off your 2nd account for a while and you will definitely see improvement in loot when you next play it.”

So, what you are saying is, if you don’t play for a few months and then start you will get better loot but if you continue to play, then the chances of better loot go down. However he is saying he can play both accounts and one continuously getting better loot.

How can they both be true? If your theory was true then his alt account would get worse loot the longer he played it.

Did you read the part about age? His account is 3 months old so there’s probably no where near as much time. This would leave his loot Experience still up near the top good stuff. Are you expecting an immediate drop in quality? that would be too obvious.
mine on the other hand with 800+ hours in a much lower range of loot and over years old BUT still MUCH higher than my main. So i could let it sit and refill its loot experience until its in the good stuff again.
how do you even see a a contradiction between the two after comparison?

If age plays a factor into loot drop dynamics, then is my account bugged because it gets more loot than my alt? Why is it that some accounts that aren’t played much have such good RNG, but my account that I play a lot has good RNG? Where does my account fall into this conversation?

yeah its bugged. File a ticket

So to sum up the theory in this thread – Players who get better drops than other players isn’t just because of RNG, it’s because RNG is broken. If RNG worked properly, every player would be getting the same good loot.

I can only hope John comes in to confirm this.

no, see, you still have too many stacks of confusion. let me help you.
To sum up this thread – Players who play much less frequently receive higher quality loot more often than compared with those who play incredulous hours as evidence collected through consistent and repetitious forum threads.

There must be a Mesmer nearby, because I just got 25 stacks of Confusion again.

If I play for 4 hours a day, and frequently get better loot than my alt that I play 1 hour per day at best, how do I end up with a completely different outcome than your theory?

First – i have yet to see a thread on that topic that supplied any evidence about drops received.
Second, it doesn’t match my experience – i have my whole guild to compare, and the best drops consistently go to an account that is both oldest and most played of all. That is (just in case you misunderstood again) not about drops total per whole game life. That’s about drops per timeframe which is bigger than a single event.

have you ever seen $10million ? Then it must not exist.
if it doesn’t match your experience than how can you argue its happening? This is why you’re confused.According to you, all the players in your guild have alts that they don’t play for weeks to months on end then get on to tell you what they get. AND they ALL play together ALL the time at the SAME time and all have equal age.. you should collect that information since you veteran packed guild can provide quite a large and valuable amount of information.

You said both accounts get equal loot. but how can that be possible when they both have completely different ages? One would obviously have recivied waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more loot in the past. If your second was getting equal to the first which has far more experience MF and play time than there is an obvious difference between the accounts loot.

That’s okay to be confused. Alot of people feel that way when can’t understand something.
I don’t think hes trolling I think he cant comprehend the situation.

no it means your alt will get more and better loot than your alt was 2 months ago. nothing to do with your main. be more specific when you’;re asking questions. Dont ask " Did you see the thing with the thing do the thing on the thing?

But how does that explain my main then? I play that daily, hours at a time, and I’ve gotten a lot of Precursors and Exotics. I do PvE, SPvP, and WvW. How do I get good loot when I play a lot?

What about it? is something wrong with your main?

I don’t know? I’m trying to understand what this thread is about now. First it was about RNG. Then it turned into Loot from the RNG. Then we got into discussions about how less playing time equals better loot.

As for playing less = better loot – I’m confused as to how my main that has thousands of hours can have better loot without playing less.

If thats the way this thread was going i woulda stayed out…. but no i dont believe this is the case, sorry. I dont play on my account for 3 months sometimes and when i come back, my loot is still absolute kitten. With 157% MF, What are exotics? oh..those are those things i buy…

Do i believe my account is cursed? no. I just believe the RNG in this game is horrible. Do i believe new accounts get better loot, Maybe. It would make sense to keep new players playing, at least to me.

but you have nothing to compare it to without an alt account.

Now you got it. Play your main all the time and stay off your 2nd account for a while and you will definitely see improvement in loot when you next play it.
Edit : Where are you getting this " Guaranteed" thing? no1 said you’re were guaranteed anything but you’re loot will be better.

So wait, if I stop playing my alt for a few months, then start playing it again, I’m not guaranteed to get anything but my loot will be better?

anything? oh no you are guaranteed something. for sure. tons of stuff in fact. just as your guaranteed loot now. Will it be better? better than what?

I’m just trying to understand this thread. If my main already gets Exotics and Precursors, that means an alt that I don’t play as much will get better or more loot than my main. Did I understand you right?

You’re not included in the numbers because just as you said " I Play daily". this is about newer accounts who don’t play as often getting fantastic drops when they do. Why is it no one is understanding age problem isn’t about how many days you’ve had an account but hours played

So let me try to understand this theory. In order for me to be group in category of “lucky” accounts, I need to have the following:

  • An account I purchased in the past couple months
  • The account can’t be played daily, or must be played sparingly

If I meet these two criteria, then I’m guaranteed to get good drops on that account?

nothing was ever said about the account being purchased recently. You like the others in this thread are only identifying AGE with days. not time played.

Ok, so I’ll revise the criteria. So if I have an account that’s not played much, then I’m guaranteed to get good drops?

Now you got it. Play your main all the time and stay off your 2nd account for a while and you will definitely see improvement in loot when you next play it.

I did that with one of my alt accounts and didn’t see as good drops. I guess my account is bugged?

2 or 3 days wont work. i has to be substantial. Now you gonna say " it was weeks" or “Months”
right?

Except that hundreds of players all see the same pattern. 2 or 3 people out of countless of complaints on forums just means you haven’t experienced YET what too many others are complaining about.

I have two accounts that I play on daily. My main has had a lot of Precursor drops. My “newer” alt account has yet to see a Precursor drop. According to you and the “hundreds” of others, I should be getting a ton of stuff on my newer account, and less on my main. Am I the exception to your facts?

I bet B is new and A is older. I bet B wasnlt played for a long time.

You bet. This doesn’t make that true however.

it does make it true if every player who complains of this has the exact same answer.

…no, that doesn’t mean it at all. All that means is that every person who complains about it complains about it. You seem to ignore that not every player does share that experience however. You especially seem to ignore that there are players with exactly opposite experience (seeing old accounts get way better drops than young ones).

Can’t ignore what doesn’t exist. Every player that I’ve spoken with does share this experience. I don’t ask " Is your new account better loot than you old?" It’s “Any difference in loot?” it’s always yes the newer is better. Never once has anyone ever said “My main gets better loot”. The fact they all have answered the same two questions with the exactly same answer…

Or ignore cases like mine, where an old account and a brand new account don’t have different drops, even when played on similar content and on similar level characters.

can you provide proof they get equal and the exact same loot?

Not equal and exact but similar over time over similar content and similar level chars.
However, does Essence Snow need to prove what he says? Do you need to prove what you say? He has said no, you haven’t answered. If you want to set up something for both your accounts and my accounts, we can give it a try.

The burden of proof is on the ones making the claim, not the people asking if it’s true.

I’m going to assume you mean that no, you won’t do anything to prove your claim that one of your accounts gets better drops than the other. Ok.

nah because with another person there are too many variables. i cant ensure your’re doing exactly what i’m doing at the exact same time with both accounts and the exact same place with the exact same dps with exact same magic find.. because that’s how you want to collect data and that is impossible. to do. Where as simply colelcting already provided data that isn’t exact decimal value wouldn’t be sufficient enoug for you, would it?

You bet. This doesn’t make that true however.

@SnowEssence
the topic of the thread is….
it does make it true if every player who complains of this has the exact same answer.

Anecdotal evidence. Tastes great with crackers, little good for anything else. But since we’re traveling down that road, let me hop on the train going the opposite direction. I have three Guild Wars 2 accounts. One with 5,645 hours, one with 850 hours, and an infant account with 98 hours. I’ve gotten 2 precursors on my main account. I rarely even get exotics on my other accounts. Therefor, I postulate that older accounts are luckier than new accounts, based on my experience. Everyone I’ve talked to agrees with me.

Or it’s just that RNG doesn’t care when you made your account, it just rolls the way it rolls. Yeah, that sounds somewhat more likely.

Except that hundreds of players all see the same pattern. 2 or 3 people out of countless of complaints on forums just means you haven’t experienced YET what too many others are complaining about. You admit to having no idea and not experiencing it but are positive and content with your answer of “RNG”. just becasue you’re told something, doesn’t make it true.

How does that explain why new younger accounts get better loot?

It doesn’t because they don’t. Yes, there are younger accounts that get better loot as old accounts. Just as there are old accounts that get better loot than new accounts. All that proves is that some players (players, not accounts or characters) are more lucky than others. Or at least that they were more lucky in that observed time.

I bet B is new and A is older. I bet B wasnlt played for a long time.

How does that explain why new younger accounts get better loot? RNG should be equal between accounts.

Because

RNG stands for Random Number Generator.

RNG does not guarantee that you’ll get what you want. Ever.

It’s Random.

Example: If you have two accounts, and both attempt to get loot that has a 5% chance to drop.

Account A – Does Silverwastes Vinewrath 50 times and gets a Beta Portal Drop.

Account B – Does Siverwastes Vinewrath the first time and gets a Beta Portal Drop.

Conclusion: Account B is not luckier than Account A. It’s simply RNG was favorable at that moment.

okay but is there a huge age difference between Account A and Account B?
I bet B is new and A is older. I bet B wasnlt played for a long time.
These two things are the commonality shared with every person who has experienced this. RNG is RNG but when its being subjective to selective choice based off age and time played, it is longer RANDOM. items 1-1000 and rolling out of 1000 is much more random than than going well hes this years old so lets make it 200-900, and he has this many hours so now its 300-800, oh and hes killed this many so 400-700. THAT IS NOT RANDOM that is making selected choices from predetermined selection.

Proof
I play hours on end on main and get nothing. I log into my alt first time in 2 months, i get ascended chest and Dawn off Wurm, same day one after the other.

The only thing that proves is that RNG is working as intended.

I’ll quote myself to help you understand:

RNG stands for Random Number Generator.

RNG does not guarantee that you’ll get what you want. Ever.

How does that explain why new younger accounts get better loot? RNG should be equal between accounts. if anything my time played should reward me, not punish. no one is talking about what they WANT.

OP made a specific claim that the 2 accounts had markedly different drop rates. He provided no proof and declined to do anything that would show that the 2 accounts were actually different in drop rate. Until and unless he does so, people are justified in questioning his statement. cognitive bias.

It’s interesting that you say your two accounts are different. Would you be willing to make a thread so that people can suggest how you can prove this and post the proof on the forum?

there are already more than enough complaints recognizing this problem so i wouldn’t make a thread. i would instead voice my experience in one that’s already opened. oh wait. What i wouldn’t do was tell them how they are wrong and try to disprove them without any proving clear numbers. if i didn’t already have multiple accounts, I would grab a new account and test this then provide my own results. Then i would be more creditable to deny the OP’s experience as ’unique"

The burden of proof is on those making the claim, not those questioning it.

Proof

Now you are going to argue that. i am just one person and its RNG or not enough consistent data provided as i have to grind the same thing on both accounts for same time. But that would mean that i have to provide the same dps form the same class and kill the exact same quantity of the exact same mob within the exact same time of day with the exact number of players in map and in party. All of which is impossible to do. So how can you present data impossible to achieve?

OR lets collect all the players information who’ve experienced this and compare it. A obvious pattern pops up when u compare already provided data. Don’t need all those statistics to prove this.

I’ll give you a quick rundown of the current conversation:

  • Player – Something’s wrong because one account has better RNG than others.
  • Me – RNG doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed a drop.
  • Anet – No account is luckier than another. Each account has the same base chance to get drops from the loot table.
  • Player – Show me proof that I’m not unlucky. I want to see data to prove I’m wrong.
  • Other players – /deadhorse.gif

As John Smith said many moons ago, we players need to first show there’s an existing problem before coming up with solutions. You don’t come up with solutions first, then go hunting for the problem.

Right now, people only feel there’s a problem, because they’re not getting what they want. In this case, I use the term Entitlement to describe the on-going issue.

Statistics won’t mean kitten when things such as “% damage done to enemy” affects loot because that can be completely random and too difficult to measure consistently and reproduce. Its a fact that there is a problem and they don’t want to investigate because they want proof from us instead of being proactive and applying professional work ethics to their product. If I worked for Anet I would search for and provide the proof. We as players are providing more than enough for this specific problem.

The increasingly growing population of players who create new threads and describe this EXACT same thing should be enough for them to take action. beating a dead horse but that doesn’t take away the fact the horse is still there.

@Everyone
Why are you posting if your only going to argue the OP? You’re asking for “proof” of it but can you prove there isn’t something wrong? There are ALOT of people who experience this problem. And its amazing that so many people here will deny having not experienced it. If you can’t provide the evidence that it DOESN’T exist then you can’t deny it does. I play one account typically 12 + hours a day and my loot is worthless all day. I run around to most every dungeon, diff maps doing diff stuff, fotm, world bosses. SW… all on diff toons.. my loot is still all garbage.

I can get onto my alts and farm for a couple hours and get plenty of rares and a couple exotics. So far Alt #2 loot hasn’t diminished since i got him and it about 800 hours now. Alt #3 is the same; 200 hours and still great loot. it’s enough to make me want to stop playing my main. But no need because I multibox.

I completely agree. There is nothing random about this RNG. I believe it collects information like age, ap, or something of this sort and uses it to put you in a certain “tier” for loot. I have near 6k hours, 18k+ AP’s on this account and have a few newer accounts. The loot from this account is always terrible. I’ve received one Ascended Armor chest and never a precursor (except from forge), I can’t remember the last time i looted an exotic off an enemy. My 2nd account, well, Ascended armor chest first time at Tequatl, Dawn precursor off worm. There is something seriously messed up with loot for the older accounts. More proof can be collected from thee beta keys. Definitely not RNG. They players have already been selected and those who enter the zone will find theres. They already said players are selected from those who signed up for the newsletter NOT from those who farm silverwaste. That is just makeup to hide their true colors. If it was truly RNG players wouldn’t have to signup.

This is a huge problem and they really need to do something about this. The only thing that’s keeping me to only play one character is because of the constant changes to the keybinds.
People who’s saying that we should get a new keyboard/mouse with macros just so we can play the game smoothly… is it really worth spending triple the money on a keyboard/mouse than I spent on the actual game? The problem is really easy to fix, the most obvious solution would be to give every character their own keybinds.

ya so play toon A my heal is 6, toon B itll be H, toon C it’ll be U, toon 4 itll be 9. ya thats not confusing at all. The game already allows you reassign your keys. Try reassigning QWER to 7-10 Now EVERY key is right there asap. No keyboard/mouse needed.
no complaints about my stun break is here ALL THE time so now every class came be the same.

Now will these people have to fight a ban and fill the queue with support tickets? Because I highly doubt each every gold transfer will be monitored manually. More or less there’s a formula with certain variables to be met before it triggers. or is it just gonna fire at anyone that gets more than XXg?

I am very happy to see your definition of “tank” is not that of most narrow minded players in that they absorb damage. Anything that maintains agro and prevents teammates damage is tanking. Whether is absorbing damage, blinding , CC’s or evades, they are all part of tanking in GW2.

From my experience agro target can be either the least/most tough, the most hp, furthest/closest away. it varies on enemy. Some enemies will even switch targets if they can’t hit you after so many attacks.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The problem is that these casual players attempt to join and complete content that requires mechanics and understanding. but these players are so hell bent on spamming 1 and face rolling for max DPS,or maintain the " I play how i want" syndrome, that they end up being in the way and hindering completion. One person this is bad but 1/3 of the map can easily fail you.

It isn’t that they don’t KNOW, it’s that they can’t comprehend of follow simple directions. Example : Troll boss for Vinewrath failing 3 times in a row even after the complete boss mechanics has been repeatedly announced in map chap . If you’re casual stick to casual content. As some has stated either win or lose they just play for fun. No negative intent here on this statement but you can almost class them as
“winners” and “losers”. For some people just playing isn’t enough; peoplelike rewards for their efforts.
