Dumb reasons why you can't play a class/race

Race – Charr → because those are not the kind of cat girls I want to see.
Class – Necromancer → class is too limited compared to the other classes.

Does anyone actually want a Season 3?

If season 3 can be released along side a worthy expansion, then yeah I would want it. But having an expansion worth of content is more important than the current LS system. We need CONTENT and not a STORY.

I don’t think an expansion will fix anything to be honest. At least not if it’s just a bunch of LS chapters that has a price on it. What I truly hate about these LS updates is the lack of variety in content (and for the last few chapters the amount of content too). If the LS actually gave us more dungeon (paths)/raids and some huge changes to WvW/PvP it would have been received better. I would love to see the LS being focussed on story and PvE map content for 4 weeks (2 updates), then dungeons and then WvW/PvP, so it doesn’t actually feel like only a handful of people at Anet is doing something. Honestly, the bi-weekly schedule they put up is too short to give any meaningful content. It’s all too rushed. Then there are Feature Patches that are only (most of it badly thought up) reworks of current systems that for most parts are completely unnecessary and a huge waste of resources. Last Feature patches also had huge breaks between the LS and the patches and after, which would have been great for the LS team to work more on their content, but from what we’ve seen it’s more likely they all went cookie baking and rushed the LS content at the last minute.

I won’t leave if theres no expansion is announced in 2015. I will leave/stay away from the game if they don’t bring out any meaningful content in 2015 (with the last LS chapter begin January being the decisive chapter, since apparently it should be amazing seeing as they’ve had seas of time to work on it, seriously doubt it though).

What excites you about the future of GW2?

Well Gaile keeps saying it was a NECESSARY change to stabilise PvP and activities. But she doesn’t tell us in what way it was necessary at all. Most likely it was an unnecessary change that some dev implemented to show that he’s actually doing work.

It’s a shame anet threw away their pride for making good game content and stubbornly stuck to a content delivery system that only delivers sub-par content just so they can slack all year long.

Is "Living Story" interesting?

Conner.5803

I would recommend only getting chapter 6 (Tangled Paths) so you can get BL keys for all 80’s you have. That chapter is so short you can do it in 30 min after just running it once (in the second instance be sure to grab the flamethrower behind you where you enter, in the third instance grab the mesmer girl (yeah I really forgot her name, that’s how good the characters are) so you have some light). But don’t spend your hard earned cash on it, just convert gold for that chapter only. The rest of the LS is really not worth the gold/cash you have.

Awful storytelling and scheduling

And yet you keep tuning in for the next episode, suggesting that the storytelling and scheduling is not awful, but rather well designed.

I only come back for the achievements and gear. The story itself could just die in a corner for all that matters. If I wanted a story I would watch a movie or read a book. I play a game for playable content to entertain me.

For some reason i always feel offended when someone says something like ‘’the story could just die in a corner, i wouldnt care’’ (My best friend skipped all cutscenes and dialogue in S2 so far and i was just kittened at him for doing that)… Personally to me, the story is one of the most important aspects of a game, EXACTLY like in a movie or a book… i basically compare a video game to both of those… Without a story, the content itself is dull and pointless.

Fair enough. Let’s comprimise then. The LS should have a meaningful story but also deliver actual content that’s let’s say actualy dynamic. That way we get content we could play and also have the option of personalizing the LS story. And with that I mean not like the personal story where you get to choose some options and do exactly the same thing only in another area, but more in the way of like being able to choose which partner of DE(2) you wanna bring with you, being able to do combination skills or something with them that can’t be found outside the LS. Or even a mini-dungeon that changes depending on who you brought with you and the other choices you made during the LS. Personalized instances would be awesome, but if it’s implementable by Anet at this point of the game is doubtable, but we can still dream though.

While an expansion would not end all problems ever with GW2, it would still be very welcome.
Would it be able to satisfy everyone? No… clearly nothing will do that. Would it make a lot of fans happy? Yes very much so.

I don’t think anyone expects nearly as much as you suggest in the OP.
I would be completely happy with just 1 more playable race, don’t really care for more professions, but again 1 or 2 would most likely keep most people happy.

They don’t need to add what you’re looking for into expansion … Living story will cover what you want.

Actually Living Story can cover most of the most demanded features community is asking.

Why ask for expansion when they can just drop a bit of an actual expansion with every few episodes of the Living Story Arcs ?

Because so far they didn’t. That “expansion worth of content” is still far away in undisclosed future. And we’re not getting any closer.

Yes, an IV drip can keep a person alive. But that’s not a substitution for a good meal.

Would’ve helped if they ditched the boring story and focused on actual content. A dungeon path a month isn’t too much to ask right?

For everyone complaining about this:
Would you really prefer to have a (potentially big) release now with potential progression breaking issues that would not be fixed for weeks due to holiday?

I can almost guarantee that the same people complaining about the short break would also be the loudest if they did release it just before the holidays and something broke and couldn’t be fixed until after the holidays.

From what we’ve seen from the “big” releases anet brought out, yeah I would rather have them bring it out now. LS chapter 5 was supposed to be a “big” release, but it only brought mediocre content that involved more farming, farming, farming that got boring real quick. Heck, even the first chapter felt more like a mini-update. I don’t really care if I’m unable to complete an achievement till after the holidays if I actually had new content to play with.

They could’ve just added that content in the LW, but they insisted that story > playable content, so we’re not left with much… If I wanted a story, I would read a book. I play a game for the playable content. And even the story isn’t much interesting at all..

Seriously would’ve been happy if they released the last (probably 2 hour content) at the same time as the wintersday content and just delayed whatever they are planning (again probably not much at all) till the end of January. As a student I’ve got some time during the christmas break, but I’ll be too busy in begin-mid January because of exams. So what I’ll be getting is crappy rehash content from last year, that I didn’t enjoy, and another huge personal delay of the LS till end January.

So yeah, thank Anet for another (not unexpected) disappointment. Keep up the good work! /sarcasm

OP is playing since launch and still didn’t find a way to get gold?

Jesus….

Back then people used to farm karma and open orrian boxes, however I quit the game when my guild broke up and and I left the game several times for longer periods of time.

Also if I have a clear objective in mind I can do it for longer periods of time, for instance I didn’t mind getting 40 levels on my mesmer by doing eotm for 10 hours straight as my goal was clear and I knew what I was going for.

Meaning that besides dungeons I could farm 10 hours if I get a straight goal for X gold per hour if I put my mind to it.

I do have 850K karma but I don’t know how it transalates into gold as I keep hearing its not worth it.

My magic find is only 90% as well so im wondering if investing in salvaging ectos is a good idea

Anyhows thanks for the responses so far

You can convert that amount of karma to ~85g by getting blue gloves from the Blightwater Basin heart (bottom left of Blazeridge Steppes) and throwing them into the forge. Then salvage those for cotton and linen scraps. So if you need some gold without much effort you could do that.

Jesus….

Playing since launch =/= playing 24/7

Dungeons are probably your best bet. Not only do you get gold, but you also get tokens which you can use to exo armour for dungeons that are lvl <68. For the 68+ dungeons you can get cheap rares that you can salvage for ectos.

For example a full ac run nets you 180 ac tokens which you can use to buy a soldier helm with. Getting a insignia from it is another 2-3g and they do drop frequently from the salvage.

It's been done now leave thanks

I’m not sure if this was added in a previous patch:

AC P2:

- The 3 traps are being set up in 2 rounds, with each trap being set up to 50% and then going to the next trap
- It looks like the last boss uses his spit attack more often
- Not sure, but it felt like the champ breeder has less health

Is anyone happy anymore?

Conner.5803

I’m happy about:
- How easy it is to change traits on the go
- Tequatl buff, Triple Wurm and Marionette
- Wardrobe and dye system
- Combat is great
- Looks of the game

I’m unhappy about:
- How much of a pain it is to unlock all traits on new characters is
- How megaservers destroyed the server community I’m in (RoS)
- How megaservers made it near impossible to do Triple Wurm for people who aren’t part of the wurmslayer guilds and who are always unlucky not getting in the right map when jumping
- How megaservers made World Bosses one of the most boring content of the game
- How there is almost no changes in dungeons/fracs except annoying QoL updates that most of the time lower the QoL
- How Anet drops features in our laps without even given us the chance to discuss if they are features that should be added (should be better from now on, but not getting my hopes up)
- The lack of new content with good replay value that would give vets reason to stay longer

Probably have more things I’m unhappy about.

In general, I’m unhappy with the state of the game.

About Stats!

I think it’s only a pop up message showing what stats got better to show new players that levelling actually makes your character stronger. Don’t think they have a choice what stats they want higher, unless they can choose and then later on run out of options (like if you only put points (?) in power, it doesn’t show up later on when you level up).

Better take that list with a massive bag of salt. When you put games like Half-life 2, Unreal Tournament 2004 and Elder Scrolls 4, for example, on there, but not their superior predecessors, than you know the list isn’t credible.

Stop stealing my thoughts and making me think I make posts while I AFK :P

Also the reasons why it got spot 39:

Phil: “For all of the social promise offered by MMOs, it’s amazing how many fall apart when you try to play with friends. That Guild Wars 2 doesn’t is why I’ve spent nearly 500 hours playing it—hanging out with pals while also maybe killing a dragon. The lack of a subscription means it doesn’t feel like an obligation; the level downscaling makes it easy to group with anyone; and, even if playing alone, the multitude of events ensures there’s always someone to maybe kill a dragon with.”

Chris: When Guild Wars 2 was released, I was convinced that it marked the end of the World of Warcraft formula—from quests to subscriptions. That wasn’t quite right, as it turned out, but this is still the best game in its genre. Combat is fast, clear, and skill-based, and players have freedom to chart their own course through the world.

The ‘nearly 500 hours played’ part made me chuckle…

No point doing wurm anymore for me. That megaservers always puts me on megaservers with people I’ve never seen before really ruins the server community. New players won’t know which guild is on what server (which makes finding a wvw guild for your server really annoying) and the fact that everything on maps are completed instantly by level 80 players and the fact that with the traiting system new players are even less powerfull as before, kinda ruins it for new players that want to explore.

Well, guild mission can be fixed if they just make them instances. You dont have to worry about being on the same map or if another guild is there. For bounties you could make it so that every guild member gets on an guild overflow. Problem solved.

Well, not that anet will ever listen to the community.

Edit: about an area that can only be accessed by people on your own server: Just bring Lion’s Arch back to its former glory.

Would you guys be okay if they added the skins, but not the effects of the legendaries? So people would be running around with twilights that don’t have the aura and the footsteps for example.

Personally I don’t mind if they added the skins though, because the stats + change ooc makes legendaries still superior.
