So why exactly did they have to be disabled instead of having us enjoying decent loot for once? Unless you guys are planning on keeping them disabled till the next quarterly update.
Have not done these in a long time but the patch notes indicate they have done almost exactly what you are asking for.
Then the patch notes are wrong because I made this thread because these issues are still present.
This outpost in Verdant Brink needs a rework at step 6: collecting the bombs.
This step is plagued with issues:
- Way too little airship salvage to be found on the ground
- If someone else picks up an airship salvage, it disappears for other people
- Way too many airship salvage required to fill the event bar
- You can only take 1 airship salvage to the NPC at a time
- NPC bugs out and doesn’t take the airship salvage
- Transition from step 6 to step 7 takes way too long
All in all this step takes far too long for what it is. What I propose is:
- Add a lot more airship salvage on the ground
- Don’t let them disappear if another person picks it up
- Decrease the amount required to fill the bar
- Let us take more than one at a time to the NPC
- Fix that NPC
- Decrease the time between step 6 and 7
The first 4 suggestions are “and/or” suggestions, but the last 2 need to be looked at.
We’re looking into adding other things to spend Fractal Journals on, but I don’t think Golden Relics will be one of them. Journals are obtained only in the 1-50 range, while Golden Relics are obtained only in the 51-100 range.
How about turning them into keys/encryptions? Could always use more of those ;3
Still, I think they could have implemented better system that allow us to choose and to not push people to only do swamp.
It was actually intentional that you would not be able to choose the daily Fractals. We want to reward players for playing all of the different Fractals, not just for playing a couple of them over and over again.
Which is one of the reasons I loved the pre-hot fractals. This iteration is way better than the one we had at HoT launch, but I still do miss the random fractals per daily tier.
HoT was not "half done" and my 3 reasons why

I have only one question: do you think this “expansion” had enough content to justify that pricetag?
A lot of people are mad about having paid this ridiculous amount of money for an expansion where a lot of content was promised, but wasn’t delivered, and some of it is being scrapped. Kinda hard to justify that.
What our group did was to stack at the ceiling. For some reason he can get stuck in it, while you cleave it down. Also the mobs he spawns can spawn above the ceiling making it a lot easier.
Yes, we are investigating. Thank you for your reports. I’m in DR now talking to players, and I shared an image of my girl with the devs so they’d see how this is coming across on the screen.
Settings: Best Appearance
Can you update what settings you guys are using?
Thanks!
Using this settings in both pictures.
Apparently the lighting setting changed in the last patch. Was this planned or accidentally added to the patch?
The opposite of swamp:
We play as Mossman/Bloomhunger and are supposed to kill 5 NPC that look like our characters. Each of the real players is only able to use 1 skill that Mossman/Bloomhunger uses.
Just to spice up the regular swamps of the mist ;3
As frustrating as that may be, Anet clearly has more than one job.
Milking people’s money with incredibly bad gemstore items is clearly WAY more important to anet than actually fixing HUGE flaws that have been in the game for months/years….
I don’t think the swamp/molten problem can be solved unless they remove them from the higher tiered fractals. To me, the only rewarding part is the daily achievement for it. The big chests at the end of each fractal and the boxes/mats dropped are just not worth the time spent in them at all. But even if those fractals got removed, people would flock to the next “easiest/shortest” fractal. Seriously miss the old random fractal system and would’ve loved to at least see it at the higher tiered fractals, since it’s actually end-game content and should be something that you have to invest your time in.
Yes it can be solved and by a lot of different ways or combination of ways.
1) Balance the number of encryption depending not only by the level, but by the island. For exemple, level 40 Molten Bosses give 3 encryptions. You could give level 38 Dredge give 4 or 5 encryption since it’s an harder and longer fractal.
2) Rebalance the length and difficulty of the fractal themselve. For exemple, you could change Swamp so that each Swamp need you to kill both Mosman and Bloomhunger and not just one. This would make Swamp more on par with other fractal in term of length. Motlen bosses can be a bit harder to balance. There isn’t much room there. The only thing I could see would be to up the difficulty of the 2 bosses.
3) Remove part of the daily reward or remove it completely. Instead give that reward after the player complete a certain amount of level. For exemple. Right now if you do 16 daily (48 islands), you should get around 1-2 pieces of ascended gear. Now replace that with an repeatable achievement that give you 2-3 ascended gear for completing all level 51 to 100 once (49 islands). A bit like the current Fractal Veteran and Fractal Master achievement.
1) I think this is already in place. The last time anet increased the loot/rewards in fractals I remember doing fractal 98 (jade maw) and 99 (molten duo) and remember that molten duo gave less of an reward (in encryption) than jade maw did. Could be wrong, but I still don’t think running either of them is worth any time, still if someone else could test it that would be appreciated
2) I actually like that idea. For the molten duo frac it would be nice if they opened up the part before that fractal. My friends that played the dungeon version of it told me it’s really interesting (and challenging).
3) Could be nice, but I’d rather see 3 random fracs from any of the high lvl’s being chosen for the daily achievements than having to run 49 fracs over again (although having it as a separate achievement, like you said, it could work like that dungeon achievement where you get a bunch of ap for the amount of dungeon paths cleared).
To me, the only rewarding part is the daily achievement for it.
This is the exact problem they would be aiming to solve.
Yeah, and funny enough the old 3 random fracs + boss fracs system from before actually solved it. While the new system is nice to get new people into fracs, the old system was better to keep the older people from actually staying.
I miss the old days
Btw, I think we’re strafing a bit off topic here since the OP was talking about bringing dungeons back and not about making fractals appealing :P
Unfortunatly, after the novelty (is that word correct? Cant check right now) has passed people will go back to 3 swamp runs. New fractals and new instabilities wont solve the problem.
They’re aware of the problems involved with reward schemes right now that incentivize doing Molten Duo/Swamp constantly. I would expect some work to be done on the dailies and other things to encourage people to branch out more this year, particularly in higher level fractals.

Thanks for sharing. Can you, or others, give some examples of items that formerly were offered that you’d like to see again? I’m happy to take your ideas to the dev team!
Thanks.
Well since people have been asking for bunny ears for the past years, maybe bunny ears?
Why would any company in their right mind destroy their own content? If the new content isn’t good enough to draw us in on its own then someone seriously needs to look in the toilet bowl after their morning doo.
“We want to be innovative! If other game companies design their instanced content to be fun, rewarding and refreshing then we should make ours boring, unrewarding and stale!”

(edited by Conner.5803)
So, besides the stuff you listed, revenant and elite specs, what else is there to play with?
For what I play, anet has removed/destroyed more content than that they have added.
The no-sub fee is nice, but anet is doing the utter least amount of effort to keep players like me to continue playing their game. So yeah, I’m gonna complain then.
They we’re always viable. People were just incredibly ignorant and thinking: "if this “pro-group” killed the bosses with this group set up, we don’t want classes that they didn’t use!"
Bringing guardian to raids actually makes it more comfortable. Healer can’t heal you because he just used his burst heal skills? Guardian can help. Revenant can’t keep up the protection? Guardian can help. Crap I’ll die if I get hit by the next attack. Guardian is here with a bit of aegis!
People just think that guardian is not useful because other classes can also do what they do. But what they forget is that guardian is really good in filling the gaps when someone screws something up, while doing good dps.
They said there will be more elite professions later. You’ll need those Hero Points then.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see anet reworking how to unlock future elite spec’s in a way where no extra heropoints are required, but totally forgetting old heropoints exist ;3
So when thief finally has any place in raids you want to get rid of them? So when they get in line with the other classes dps, why on earth would you still bring one? Thief has 1 function now. If you want to kill the class off again, seriously just go find another game and do damage there instead of trying to ruin thiefs here…
Who are you talking to? No one here is suggesting that, rofl.
Ehm the OP? The person demanding them to be nerfed?

To be honest, bringing a guardian to pug group makes it a little bit easier. The amount of people actually thinking they can play well but sucking kitten is way to high. Guardians make it a bit easier with the perma protection, extra group heal and aegis (which is a godsend at gorseval stomps since that’s where most pugs just suck at).
Headsup: if you take something out of listing, the item will disappear.
Don’t use the tp now if you don’t want to lose stuff.
Fractals is content, therefore they will be patch. The new fractals may have better fractal mechanics. It would be worth giving Anet suggestions on how to make fractal mechanics better. But what mechanics, need to change for fractals to be better?
As example, less 100500100500 hp punching bags and less absolutely ridiculous instabilities.
So lower health and different instabilities, will be better mechanics in your eyes. Problem with the first one is, Mossman needs to change as the fractals scales get higher. So what changes about him? Higher attack power? Also, “ridiculous instabilities” is subjective. What is ridiculous to you may not be ridiculous to others. Do you know of any challenging instabilities that will be accepted by all players at 50+?
Furthermore, of course attack power should be increased, it used to be much higher pre hot.
Regarding instabilities, the challengemotes with healing reduction would be better instabilities than most of the current existing instabilities. Also, a big list of instabilities that never got implemented was datamined a long time ago. Some of those instabilities were pretty good imo. For Example: No downstate, Cannot use your nr6 healskill, Cannot reflect projectiles, No rezzing of dead players.Attack power was higher but several players complained that it was unfair and too difficult. They also did not like getting one shot and wanted Anet to lower the attack power. I agree about losing boons on dodge, not being able to dodge does increase the challenge because you have to rely on your skills (blinds, blocks, etc). Some of the datamined instabilities do sound nice though, ty.
In my opinion, if a fractal is going to be short, it should be at least hard.
Well if they actually fixed issues that have been there since years: dc = lose map, megaservers closing maps while there are a lot of people on it, LFG tool, class balance split between gamemodes, actually being rewarded for the effort you put in and so on.
Then more people would actually be grateful.
You’re a newer player, so you probably aren’t seeing the issue people see that have been here for years.

Why would they ever update something that’s almost necessary to use to actually play the game?
You have to buy the item from the NPC after you defeated mai trin
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aetherblade_Quartermaster
You’re misleading him. He needs to interact with the vendor that’s in the opposite direction of Mai Trin before actually fighting her. He simply needs to back track from the spawn area to get to the vendor. The NPC he’s most likely talking to is the Fractal Journal NPC which most likely be used for Ad Infinitum’s final collection.
If you did kill Mai Trin, the only way to get back to the first spawn area is to die completely and then respawn when the pop up message shows.
Do 2 revenants on opposing sides cancel each other out?
Oh i completely understand why people do it. I just dont see why people try and justify it on a public forum. Its beyond absurd. And rather pathetic. Id be ashamed to admit i do or even support something this cheesy. And even if i wasnt i certainly wouldnt try to justify my actions.
Hey! If anet is allowed to always take the least resistant way to balance the game, then so can we take the least resistant way to get our rewards!
/s but I do think anet needs to give up on wasting resources on this, since players will always find a new way to get their rewards in the cheesiest way possible. Better if they just remake the old lvl 50 fracs for the last 50 fracs in the current system and be done with it. And while they’re at it, actually make new content for it so we don’t bored out of our minds as we are now.
I realize you and a lot of people (myself included) are dissapointed with the content and the direction of the game. It feels like a rip off. Then again, you also buy what you could call a HoT seasons pass, an investment that will pay off over the next year (?) as Anet adds content, new LS chapters etc.
WHo knows how long ANet will wait with the next paid expansion, but it will not come in the next year, and that means that for €50 you get to play this game unlimited for at least a year, exploring the content.
This is not a good way of looking at it. First of all, when they release the new LS chapters, you will have to be there within the 2 weeks of release. Otherwise you will still be paying for them. Second, for that price they should have to make a hell of a lot more content than what we’ve got in the past years that is actually content that stays in the game instead of disappearing after 2 weeks.
As for the question OP made:
I am incredibly unsatisfied with this expansion. This is the first expansion I’ve seen in a game where most parts of the core game literally got killed off to make the expansion content look more appealing. I was primarily a PvE fractal/dungeon player. They completely killed this content off by removing the appealing parts of fractals being random and always something different to experience, and removing the rewards on dungeons without compensating them for the removal. Fractals has become Swamp Swamp Swamp and dungeons are completely dead.
The 4 new Meta maps are incredibly boring if you play them for a month. And all of them have this incredibly long meta where you have to be on time to be able to even participate. Besides that, the maps are tiny. Yes they’re 3-layered, but each layer only has a certain (tiny) amount to actually explore.
I’ve been AFK’ing mostly these days while playing other games. Other than the occasional raid, most of the game is literally dead to me.
I like your Jalis changes, but I do think that Forced Engagement needs a change too.
Forced Engagement
Increase energy cost to 50 with a 10 sec cd.
Make it an aoe burst of Taunt and Slow hitting 5 targets within 450 range but reduce the condition times to 1.5s. Remove the damage part of the skill.
I always felt this skill was lackluster and a waste of energy. But this way I would actually consider using it.
Vengeful Hammers
Make the hammers not disappear when you’re next to a wall.
I do think your Ventari changes won’t make a difference. It still looks incredibly clunky to be honest.
Project Tranquility
It should make you spawn the tablet and the tablet should stick to you like scrapper gyros do (but make it actually keep up with you).
Ventari’s Will
Basically make this skill work like Natural Harmony. Decrease the delay to 0.5 sec (or remove it completely), keep energy cost at 10, keep the 2s cd.
Protective Solace should be a water field like you said.
Purifying Essence feels right to me. Like your idea as well though.
Natural Harmony
This skill needs to change. Make it a targeted burst heal like the druid celestial form skill Lunar Impact. But instead of making it actually heal a lot (like the druid skill) make it heal a little bit and drop healing orbs (like the ones staff auto gives).
Keep the energy cost, increase the cd to 5s and give it a 0.5s cast time.
Energy Expulsion
I would keep this skill exactly the way it is now.
I haven’t gone through all your changes, but most that I’ve read, I actually like.
Mesmer is still OP in raids it’s K.
Condi warrior everyone saw that nerf coming miles away. If you made ascended gear for condi warrior you had to know this was a likely chance and you had to know what you were risking.
But is condi warrior still worth bringing at all? That’s the thing most of us are probably wondering.
Someday anet might actually fix their content properly.
Let’s hope they bring out new content first instead of putting resources into fixing this again and again and again.
It feels like Karl took over this profession and is trying to turn it into the new thief/guardian…
if that was true then why wasn’t the dwarf legend buffed? isn’t that defensive oriented?
I don’t think you know Karl. He’s the dev for thief/guardian. Over the past years those 2 professions were either ignored to hell (guardian) or nerfed to the ground (thief). It’s become so bad that both classes were not worth using in PvE and PvP because there are way better options to bring. And now revenant is slowly starting to become like that….
It feels like Karl took over this profession and is trying to turn it into the new thief/guardian…
They shouldn’t balance PvE based on what certain groups of players prefer to use including those that choose to blindly follow them.
However, PvE should never be balanced around what happens in PvP and vice versa.
But what can we do when the devs are too lazy and stubborn to admit this…
The issue with Amalgamated Gemstones is the amount of clicking that’s required since it’s a MF recipe…
Same here. Tried Vale Guardian today and although we got him to 10% or less at least three times, most of us got a grand total of 5 shards over 2 hours of repeated attempts. Either the drop rate has been massively nerfed, or there’s some buggyness going on.
I’m guessing it got nerfed because: players earning anything? → it needs to be nerfed.
Seems to be the way anet thinks the direction of the game should go.
I don’t think I will get the new aura anytime before the next raid wing with this drop rate and my bad luck with RNG
How can they spoil something that isn’t out yet?
The movie has already been premiered. Would suggest you also lay off of all other media sources like Twitter and Facebook for now.
I was on that particular map. I really think anet should turn off the mapclosing function until it is working properly, because now, it’s causing more trouble than that it’s fixing.
Wasn’t the Arah Lupi supposed to be one of the smaller giants? So how about regular sized one that isn’t corrupted by Zhaitan?
I just got the Gift of Exploration reward even though I still have 3 maps that have to be finished. Apparently Southsun Cove, Dry Top and the Silverwastes count to the map completed count that triggers the reward. The maps I still need to finish are Diessa Plateau, Blazeridge Steppes and Iron Marches.
“because I haven’t seen the Wyvern Matriach’s breakbar knocked down yet either”
I’ve broken the break bar when I did the fight duo. It’s fairly easy if everyone is ready for it and has a few seconds of CC ready. But you’re talking about a zerg and the average player is drooling mess that can’t adapt unless they have a handy guide written for them that says “put X ability on your bar and don’t use it until the defiance bar is active”. In fact, the hardest defiance bars to break that I’ve seen are from the hylek veterans, the tier 5 mastery iztec(?) champion and the champion chak at the chak stronghold. No other champion/legendary breakbars were difficult to break when I went against them solo, at least of those that I’ve fought against. I don’t know if the chak gerent is hard to break or not because there’s always been 10-15 players around who weren’t CCing.
I would expect breakbars to scale to the amount of players doing the event. So duo-ing a mob with breakbars should be easier I assume.
Weird part is, is that I can log in with a character I haven’t played on today yet. Problem for me is, is that I played every “main” character today to unlock their elite spec
Hello,
My game refuses to let me log in to the game. I can get to the character select screen, but whenever I try to get into the game itself, my game crashes and gives me the error code (Code=42:4:11:310:101).
Any fixes? I tried to restart the game, restart my PC and restarting my modem/router.
It is probably due to FX reasons (ie. the herald footfall, see below) or how the facet trigger in an area. Do you get the facet of nature underwater or not? That having been said I too would be interested to know why not? a radius on skill effects can be both circular and spherical, latter for underwater obviously.
Facet of Nature does work underwater. They could place the facet behind the Herald when he’s underwater and make the Facet of Elements active skill an on-target skill.
Glint should really be useable underwater, especially since it takes so much time to unlock.
14. Sign Cutting.
Can’t continue forward as this track is unresponsive.
For the record, this issue can happen on any of the markers. After quitting/restarting the episode, it’s happened on the 4th, 3rd and 1st marker for me.
Additionally, even though the poison requirement was removed on the Hero panel, a lot of people who were already at that step still have it marked as the next step in the story. A workaround is to quit the episode, restart the episode and either relog or go to/return from another area, which wouldn’t be so bad but for the unresponsive marker bug.
Most annoying part is, is that this keeps on happening keeping me from proceeding the story
I leveled the Revenant with tomes and crafting, so I can’t give you tips about that. However, I did unlock the Herald which has huge group support. The Herald gives you a F2 mechanic that gives you and your allies 50% more boon duration. The legend that accompanies it is Glint. Her skills are all upkeep skills that give out boons to you and your allies. There’s regeneration, fury, might, swiftness and protection. They can be activated again for an active skill, but most of the time I would try to have the upkeep skill up (especially the F2, fury and might).
Just a tip for getting the heropoints for the Herald: get another armor set with traveler runes. The 25% movement speed and the 15% increased boon duration help a lot traveling the map. You probably have to explore Tyria if you want to have the Herald, since a lot of heropoints in HoT maps are gated behind masteries.
Goodluck!
Any chance we can get to use Glint underwater too? I mean you can already select the legend when you’re underwater and the Facet of Nature works too. Heck if you have a facet active on land and you head underwater, the facet continues to pulse boons.

Would’ve loved to see it being 200 heropoints and that HoT heropoints were worth 5 points each. That way you could chose to do Tyria OR HoT map completions to unlock your elite spec.
