While my interest in playing a support spec (or anything related) is close to zero, I fully support you. We already have a proper dps spec (DH), so there’s no need for another one. ANet should bring life to the other facets of our class.

Always loved CoE, mostly for the setting and all that stuff.

Open word PvE is so easy that you can just run a dps build and burst everything down before it hits back. Sword or greatsword are great weapons for that purpose. When you want to kill something that can actually hit back (i.e. a champion mob or stuff in dungeons/fractals), one of you can switch to a hammer build for extra durability. With regard to utility slots, adapt to the situation. You’ll learn what skill to bring when by doing content.

From the way my guildies were talking, raids are definitely much harder than t4 fractals. I do not have opinions on that, since I don’t do any fractals. But I assume they are right.
Yes, raids are harder. However, I have yet to see a raid boss in GW2 that truly deserves the description “hard”. So far, I’ve experienced 9 of the boss encounters and even Matthias just seems to be roughly equivalent to a medium difficulty ele pair from Wildstar, for example.

There are multiple reasons. First of 150 LI is not much, when I command pug groups I usually demand at least 300+ LI, sometimes even more if its a w4 cm.
Commanders like you is main reason why raids have such a bad reputation.
This is … disturbing. For once, I think, I’ll have to agree with Rednik.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
It isn’t, but for some obscure reasons most pugs don’t even reach that little bit. It’s not funny when you see all those guards or mesmers who don’t bring reflection in projectile-heavy fractals, and so on. But that fits neatly with all those groups in which I do as much damage as the next two or three players combined – without even trying hard.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
u can go with 5 mesmers even and have succes thats how easy t4’s are
I know. Yet runs are much more pleasant when people know the potential of their class at least a little bit.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
Not that I’d prefer them but it’s not too far fetched considering Daredevils became “Draufgänger” and Scrappers became “Schrotter” … whua. The spec will most likely end up just being “Feuerbrand” anyway so we don’t have to bother too much.
That’s scary … I wasn’t even aware how much they’ve kittened up the German translations. Really glad I play MMOs on English clients ever since Blizzard produced a giant mess when they fully translated WoW.

This is usually the chronos job !
And in pugs, it seems that about 90% of the chronos have no idea that there might be tasks beyond quickness and alacrity. If they manage to do that at least, ofc.

My judgement so far: 6/10
The story wasn’t that bad (though rather short and at some points rather dumb) and the map looks beautiful, but is a bloody vertical map like TD. That part just sucks. Don’t know whether I’ll even complete it once.

Ermm, Zeal is a must for dps DH
only in raids. so thats for 5% all guardians that even raid.
What is that supposed to mean?
It’s used in raids because you need it to maximise your power damage as a DH. It’s not like it offers a raid-exclusive perk.
So, in pve, where dps is king, you go Zeal.
GL with that in new maps or HoT maps.
Works great, I’d never want to miss that damage.

It’s ok. There are classes that will be a bit more efficient if you have a good group, but you aren’t actually doing something wrong with a guardian.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
Two competent guards will massively increase your chances of success, as they have good dps while providing excellent defensive utility. The latter might not be needed by optimal groups, but those are rare. If you’re pugging, you can expect about a third of the people to be incredibly bad, half to be mediocre and the rest to be more or less competent.

When all encounters are essentially balanced for group dps, there’s also another route to compensate for such a change. Just increase encounter health proportionally.

It’s just pure rng, for the good and bad of it.
Indeed. I think it took me something like 50-100 nodes, so at least way longer than I anticipated.

they can fix the chono issue buy simply introducing a diff elite spec that stacks quickness. Since no class like warr have acess to quickness by default i see it simply as give the ability to generate quickness to more classes as elite specs. For druid as long as gotl is there the other healers are suboptimal
The argument with elite specs is quite a lazy one, because we’ll probably have to go without new elites for a rather long time. In the meantime, they definitely should raise the general buff cap in raids to 10. That would result in warrior, mesmer and druid having one guaranteed spot each and seven spots for competition by dps classes, in contrast to just four right now.
Some issues indeed can only be fixed with a massive update that will probably be reserved for the next expansion. Mesmers need a proper dps build (not just for raids) and that’s not realistically possible without a new elite. But apart from this issue, there’s no excuse not to fix the stuff that can be fixed easily.

Light looks interesting, so that would probably the one I’d choose. Even if it’s just for my mesmer. Didn’t really like heavy from the moment they originally presented it and medium looks even worse.

If that split was complete. It isn’t.

I can somehow get the point behind a “story mode” (though I’m anything but a fan of that idea), but what’s the point of such a “tutorial mode”? Many (most?) raid mechanics are already quite lenient, just as the enrage timers are. Make it yet easier and it may be nice for the story, but will have absolutely no learning effect for the proper mode.

And I though sPvP always crippled the rest of the game with stupid balancing decisions …
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
the reason you dident see them is they filled quickly since anyone could join, Well I will come with a longbow bear berserker ranger then and will just have to join a training raid and go right?
If people can trio raid bosses or do any other kind of hilarious things, there’s little reason to believe bearbows wouldn’t be able to complete raids.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
And to the topic of this thread, if you do not believe that occurrences like this one do not happen pretty much every day, then you either do not play the game much or, more likely, you keep to a self contained group of friends (nothing wrong with that, but not everyone has that option).
Incidents like the one discussed here (though I have my reservations, given the OP’s history) have always happened in this game. A long time ago, the dungeon meta wasn’t less toxic, not the tiniest bit. That’s an apparently inherent property of the GW2 community, so stop blaming raids. That’s just ridiculous.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
I’m not convinced that a survival raid fighting neverending waves of stuff is a good idea. However, some ideas in the OP, like “each LIVING player in the group get a reward”, definitely aren’t.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
No matter what happens (or not), there’s a price to be paid. Right now, it’s the poor class diversity, which is imho worse than the consequences of a 10 people buff cap. Besides, I think a flat HP boost for all raid stuff should be able to compensate for quite a lot.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
- Your reaper can drop a
gummy wormFlesh Wurm next to Tom (not on top of him). People can stand behind it, since it blocks the projectile poison (not all of his attacks, tho). Also keeps them close for the druid (see above).
Just to expand on this, any minion does this job. Necro pets, the druid pet, mesmer illusions … having a lot of them, as your party should, makes Old Tom easymode. Having many of them is also nice for the level with Social, since a single worm isn’t that helpful then.
Apart from that point, most things have already been said. Your mesmer should probably run something useful (i.e. sword+x, or scepter+x if the boss is a pain for melee), a full healer druid is quite helpful in rather poorly organised fractal groups, and as a thief you should really think about going staff daredevil. You’ll still have blinds (#4) and a metric ton of evades you can only dream of with any other build.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
In raids, simply everything should affect 10 people. That would solve quite some issues.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
To me, it feels as if you miss the point of CrimsonRipper’s 3). I don’t think it’s about damage reduction abilities (like protection, distort etc.), but about reducing or eliminating damage increasing modifiers like GotL, Scholar runes and all that stuff. That would probably be a worthy endeavour, but I doubt ANet will ever do it.
As to the uniqueness argument – I agree, that one should be buried, never to be resurrected.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
also in support.would probably rarely use though
QFT. Would be quite some work to regularly change my infusions, but a nice feature.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
Actually, your XP bar stops progressing anywhere in the game, as far as I know.
Surprise, you are wrong. The raid mastery issue prevents XP bar progress only in HoT content.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
Can you put more than one of those +9 Vital/Mighty infusions into slots or no? Because I think I would load up on those.
I think you can fill all slots with them, but I’d first aim to get 150 AR by simple infusions without stats. Once you’re there, you can gradually replace them with stat infusions. Those need quite a lot of materials compared to the simple ones.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
There is an explanation why no one will notice that kind of effort: because it simply has no noticeable effect. Stuff that kills offensive players in PvE simply can’t be tanked and probably any other attribute with healing power does a better job for healing people.

“Save Yourselves!” definitely should be renamed. Something along the lines of “Leeeeeeeeeroy!” would be fitting, since it’s nothing more than a suicide button anyway.

Full zerker P/P theif may work in raid?
Anything may work in raids. The question is just whether your group wants to actually make it work.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
Yes, I know that bug, it’s not so recent. Happened mainly when I tried to WW a group of mobs and my target died early. One of the reasons why, at some point, I just put the bloody GS aside.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
As in, there’s no good way to determine who qualifies as “the average player”.
With enough data, everyone interested could actually determine that for himself. GW2 probably isn’t there (yet?), but other MMO communities show how it works. If you have a proper logging site (example: https://www.wildstarlogs.com/statistics/8#boss=101&dataset=50), you can just take the respective boss and adjust the percentile you’re looking at.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
If you take such a video at face value, you’re delusional. I have yet to see a MMO where the devs manage to fulfill the expectations they created before the respective content cycle. That simply does not happen. Besides, a new wing every two months is ridiculous anyway.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
Not to mention social awkwardness is your biggest enemy….
At least a power PS is standing still while doing 100B, in contrast to all those wannabe bouncing balls out there. I’ll never understand why some people constantly run around in SA fractals, especially when they don’t even use that stupid food.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
True, although it will be hardly noticeable in the average fractal (pug) group.

I’d say if you play with hammer, getting bored is pretty much your own fault.
I agree and in open world, hammer hardly makes sense anyway. GS or sword+torch/focus will kill standard enemies faster with their burst and have much more interactive gameplay. Hammer has just one niche where it’s superior: mobs that require CC. But I think those are rather rare while leveling.

Everything was fine until I entered Fractals for level 32. Everything was so different to the point I barely recognized the Swamp Fractal Boss encounter. It use to be either Mossman or the tree but now its always the tree and he is invulnerable half the time? Not to mention it looks like I shouldn’t even bother without HoT skills. Was it necessary to kitten those without HoT in base game content?
The reasonable answer to all these complaints can probably be summarised in three signs: l2p
Bloomy is one of the best encounters in all fractals.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
Raids are probably the only place where dps output is halfway relevant, and even that just to a very limited extent. When raid content can be done at less than 50% of the maximum, it’s anything but hard. Nevertheless, dps meters are a nice addition to the game. They provide quite some amusing moments in fractals when the tempest again fails to match 20% of my thief’s damage.

Do the three T4 dailies for optimal rewards (ascended chests etc.). 150 AR are sufficient for anything. Recommendeds probably aren’t that bad for money, but don’t expect any useful items from them.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
Played it on my guard before update, just did it again on my thief, what exactly is the issue? Yes, the room is just bad design, but not bad enough to kill people over and over again.

On the contrary, prioritising the (bad) joke SAB over core content would be a massive mistake. And they obviously don’t even have enough resources to properly maintain all core content …
