No, conquest is not enough to keep this game alive. I want a simple and easy “Arena” or TDM to take the hotjoin’s place. As for tournaments, I think it would put so much diversity and tactics into the game if there would be a three+ round tournament with different game types.
1. Team Death Match.
2. Capture the Flag
3. Conquest
4. ??
5. Profit
(Sneaky PS: much like Hall of Heroes from GW1, no clue why Anet ignores it)
DIVA
I already hate all these currencies and the way Anet forces PvE players into playing the game how THEY want.
Obviously having Ascended gear is not manditory to play but let’s be honest: Everybody wants them. Just because Anet improves their dailies does not justify adding some huge reward like Laurels to force you to complete them.
I am also extremely confused why Anet STRICTLY (and by strictly I mean the threat of banning misbehaving but yet paying costumers) segregates all currencies.
1. Why I am forced to gather massive amounts of Karma although I have absolutely NO use of it, puzzles me.
2. Why I need to gather 5-6 currencies even though I played massive amounts to have a lot of one also puzzles me.
3. ?
4. Don’t profit.
DIVA
Any build in GW2 is casual friendly this whole game is designed solely for casual gamers. It almost does not matter what kind of traits/abilities/gear one chooses. At the end everybody can heal, deal damage and support at the same rate
DIVA
The first 40 hours was fun. I find it extremely boring now, mainly due to the game mode.
^ This is very true. I love PvP myself, but after 1-2 hours (which is nothing compared to the time invested in a single session of GW1 RA) I find myself not rewarded… :/ So I stopped.
I know I post this in every thread of the above kind. But I reaaaally want an equivalent of GW1’s Random Arena (Death Match)
DIVA
As far as I know, at the beginning of 2013 Anet announced some drastic changes and improvements to PvP in March/April ?!
One can only hope to get something so heaviliy demanded as seen here… While I for myself hope for additional game modes
Just imagine a 5 vs 5 Death Match Arena where you get higher rewards for every consecutive win. Mabye 3vs 3 would be even better since there is no dedicated healer.
Of course there would be a VERY strict seperation of premade teams and randoms.
I swear I would start to cry if Anet would implement this kind of Arena like in GW1… I played nothing else for at least 4 years of my 5 1/2 year GW1 career.
DIVA
As PvP stands right now it is non-rewarding. Why such a thing as the Zaishen Chest is not implemented, I do not comprehend.
It seems to be a huge (and completely failed) part of Anet’s philosophy to strictly apart different currencies. (Like Karma to Gold, Karma to Glory et cetera.)
I consider myself being a PvP player, but I need as many others more “real” rewards.
cosmetic effects are not everything for dwayna’s sake
Making /rank available in GW2 was definately one of the better choices and I am sure that the responsible devs will soon realize that Anet’s previous game philosophy regarding these issues were at least a million times better. So what do I suggest?
1. Better Dailies.
2. Optainable Keys (yes…just as GW1) to open chest where literally EVERYTHING could drop out of.
3. The ability to wear any cosmetic armor piece that you actually own on your PvE characters. I mean why am I forced to play a newbish-looking character when I palyed thousands of hours of PvE?
4. Improving the art style of /rank? I double dare anybody to go back to their GW1 account to /rank or /fame. Man… those were all absolutely awesome… Now I am dropping a flag out of absolutely nowhere hmmm… maybe I have terrible taste
TL;DR
I am to lazy to sum up
DIVA
25 Healing @ lvl 80 is extremely useless imao. I mean there is also a caption on AoE attacks in PvE (which makes kind of sense) so the best you get from a single attack / pulse is 125. Terrible.
In my opinion 75 might be the way to go, maybe even higher, 100?!
The easiest way to improve the game is to erase all existing traits nobody uses and turn them into great ones…
DIVA
Great idea. But decades of political correct propaganda (school/TV/society) forced everyone into rejecting these things…
Man… I would reaaaaally love this. This game desperately LACKS depth in terms of game mechanics. These are all too simple as they are right now.
There are certain conditions/boons that cannot be improved upon stacking them (i.e: Immobilized, stability, protection, swiftness, poison, chilled) simply because it either makes no sense or it would get out of line (in terms of balance)
I would love to see your suggestions about Aegis/Fury/Vulnerability/Weakness
DIVA
I would really love to see the exact copy of HA (Heroe’s Ascent, a kind of tournament with different game modes/maps) 8vs8
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of a night, sweaty, horrified and shivering… And I wonder why in Dwayna’s name they reinvented PvP for GW2.
PvP in GW1 made it the best game I have EVER played. I seriously almost cried when I found out that devs left out:
4vs4 Random Arena (Deathmatch, hotjoin, penalty by rage quitting)
4vs4 Team Arena (Deatchmatch with premades)
8vs8 GvG (CTF)
8v8 Heroe’s Ascent This was amazing.
DIVA
Sorry but warriors are free kills in a fair’n square 1vs1. It does not matter if the person is rank 3 or rank 48.
If the devs would actually implement 10% of what you have suggested, I swear I will come back to this game.
These are really great ideas.
Unfortunately everything (despite its cleverness) is EXTREMELY unlikely to happen, that is just how this game-studio works. (Trust me I played GW1 since Beta)
DIVA
Unfortunately I have to agree with you.
I consider myself to be one of the biggest fans of the GW-franchise any developer could possibly want. But I stopped to play 1 month ago.
Why?
Because there is just NO customization in this game. The game mechanics are WAY!!! too simple, attributes and traits are too weak.
Anet wanted every character to do whatever they wanted to do
But in the end, every character is doomed to play a non existing role.
PS: Just read the profession-forums:
“Here is my tanky, DPS and support build” – What the hell?
PPS: I am extremely disappointed about the fact that Anet forbids me to choose skills 1-5. I am disappointed.
DIVA
Yes, this exploit is used by many thieves who are deathly afraid of one fair fight.
I begged Anet at least a dozen time to remove this exploit from this game (and also other thief-exploits) but to be honest, I don’t think Anet is worried about that in PvP…
For some awkward reason, other things are more important.
I would gladly pay another 60€ or even 100€ if Anet would implement the whole GW1-PvP. Including Random Arena and Team Arena.
DIVA
Hahahaha! Me and my guildies killed him yesterday in his bugged version. 90 minutes…
DIVA
NO! Please don’t add them. It is not enough for me to avoid having a mount, but I want that other players can’t have one.
I really hope that Anet does not add them.
DIVA
I absolutely love this idea.
It is a real shame that the devs are denying us a deeeeeper level of customization that many of us need.
It is a shame.
DIVA
Hey there.
I have absolutely no idea how it is possible that this is still bugged, but the staff #4 skill “Empower” does not give 10 seconds of might, but remains still at 8 seconds.
?
?
DIVA
Anet, remove stealth from the game or FINALLY put an internal cooldown of 60-90 seconds on stealth !!!!!!!!!!!
I beg of you, this is breaking this game…
DIVA
There’s a problem with this. 1v1 in this game is not balanced at all. Two builds will rise above all others: Mesmer condi build, and d/d ele. These are the two best 1v1 builds in the game, and most builds don’t even come close to killing them.
I beg your pudden? I see your Mesmer and Ele and raise you by my guardian and necro.
I am in for this.
DIVA
You went over your head with this post.
In my opinion they did a good job, and took a step in the right direction.
Look at all the improvements they made and still people QQ… I am very happy about this update.
DIVA
Why did the OP get infracted?
I hope it was not intended. Otherwise this is an extreme assault on their own community. If asking a simple (and yet pointless) questions is worth punishing, they are overreacting.
DIVA
I tried very hard, but failed to find even a single preposterous point.
Take 60€ and hire this fine man.
DIVA
EDIT: I strongly(!) suggest that you remove your “notes” #1. This will give you an infraction for sure.
(edited by D I V A.6018)
WRONG.
tPvPers don’t complain as much about thieves, because “hahaha!I-Win-button you” does not work as well in tPvP because the goal actually is to hold points.
While in sPvP players are HARSHLY punished for playing defensivly by getting zero points.
Your observation might be right, but your conclusions are terrible.
DIVA
Sadly, sadly I must agree to a certain extent.
Gw2 lacks more game modes in PvP.
1. Add different modes on the current maps
2. Tone!!!!!!!!!’down thieves! By Dwayna! Tone them down Anet.
3. Add a penalty for leavers.
4. Add the /fame emote from gw1 to display your rank.
If Anet devs manage to do the above, I swear more people will be attracted to gw2 PvP.
DIVA
I see a lot of people don’t understand the problem with thiefs.
When a thief tells me: "Just think of us to be an overall challenge. If we beat you, due to our superior 1v1 damage, it is probably because you are a terribad player, l2p.
…I just think of any reason why a thief going for glasscannon can beat similar skilled players rolling ele, engineer etc?
There are two things utterly broken with the thief’s class: Their burst damage and the fact they can stealth 4+ times in a fight.
It is as simple as this: If you are superior to a thief and survive his first and second attempt to “I win-button” you to death, he will simply vanish and laugh at you.
1. HARSHLY reduce their damage
2. For dwanya’s sake introduce a global cooldown for stealth (30 seconds+)
3. OIverhall their profession mechanic regarding initiative
4. Rethink their downed abilities.
Anet, pick two of the above.
DIVA
Thiefs damage needs at least (!) a 30-40% nerf overall!
I can understand a lot of the QQ going on in here.
I will have to agree that most guardians didn’t use this skill to strip any conditions from allies. They more or less used it as their only soruce for fury and such.
As it stands right now, it is pretty much useless. Especially if you compare it to “For great justice!”. Where is the justice here?
1. Lower the CD to at least 35 seconds
2. Change the boon-gain to any effect that scales with conditions being drawn.
3. Stomp this skill and create something new and original.
4. ??!
5. profit.
Thiefs really need to be nerfed quite a lot…
People learn how to play them, that’s okay. But every base mechanic of this class is broken.
Arenanet you really need to take a close look at thiefs.
1. Extreme burst damage leaves most builds useless.
2. Popping in and out of stealth is rediculous.
3. The downed skills are superior to every other class.
DIVA
It would be extremely confusing for new players, especially with the already difficlut trait system in place. (also Runes and Sigils)
What I would love to see is some sort of mechanic, where you can optimize each weapon skill to your personal flavor. Example:
FIREBALL
Damage: 314
Area of effect: Circle 120
Range: 1,200
Option 1: Increase the AoE to 200, decrease the range to 900
Option 2: Increase the damage by 10%
Option 3: 10% chance to cause an additional fireball.
What do you think about this?
Just a few arena options for people who just wana mindlessly beat on each other for fun.
I would definately be up for this. When gw2 was announced I thought they would implement a “Random Arena” just as it was in gw1.
With the trinity broken, this would be absolutely epic, since not only the team hat luckily got a monk wins.
I really really wondered, why the staff decided against this…
I must also admit that I enjoy the sPvP gamemode(!) (Map-wise I really hate Capricon with a passion) But why there is no random Arena, let’s say 3 vs 3? I would like an explanation
DIVA
I really would appreciate this for several reasons:
1. It is something worth achievable and made guild wars 1 PvP (HA) extremely unique.
2. More experienced players would feel more distinction to new PvPers.
3. I know the Anet art-team would blow our mind. (Thinking of the tiger, dragon&phoenix from gw1).
4. Adding a unique flavor (when you just witnessed being beaten by a low ranked but yet skilled player).
5. Easier random grouping (and by NO extend I mean discrimination against low ranks)
I wonder where your bleed comes from? The only possible way of getting it is the sigil of earth on your weapon(s)
Maxing condition damage is terrible for guardians in general since the only reliable condition we have is burning with is a strong bleed. (essentially 7 stacks of it)
DIVA
What a terrible build… Well not veryone can be a good player i guess…
How about a tax for players that have less than 20 gold? This tax can go to people that have beyond 200 gold for extra achievements.
Why isn’t there a feature that let players buy whole cities and waypoints so people will have to pay them in order to fast travel???
Yea remove a tax for gold-farmers so they can make more and more unearned money. This gold comes mainly from events and drops. Events and drops you did not achieve.
/sarcasm off.
Please stop demanding such strange things(?) If you choose to sit on a virtual auction house INSIDE (!!!) a video game and actually enjoy it (??) then okay… But this is not callen “trading wars 2”
Keep that in mind gentlemen.
DIVA
There is a great need of a punishment for rage-quitters in sPVP. Most matches will witness rage-quitters leaving their team punished for their own failure.
I think GW1 did just fine… leave once, okay it can happen. leave twice and you are banned from PvP for 10 min. (increasing)
Sometimes I do not understand why you erased so many awesome things you had going in gw1 for gw2… Why is there still no “save build” option? I am confused.
I am lvl 80 fully geared and I get up to 3,5k on heavy armored mobs/champions…
Maybe you might consider turning off “auto-targeting” in your options, for WW you are required to stand “inside” your enemy for the projectiles to hit as often as intended!
DIVA
EDIT: I am Norn.
“I’ve finally found a build that fits my solo centric play”
’nuff said.
Why even roll a guardian?
I kind of agree to most statements here but all of you are required to hold your horses.
The main problem is that the Anet’s staff has so much on their to-do list that they simply don’t have resources to write 2 sentences on their own(!!!!!!!!!!!) page.
Instead of fixing some main issues of guild wars 2 (broken skills/traits/balance/bugs/dungeons) they are trying to implement gw2 for macintosh? eeeehm…
???
Profit.
Man that’s funny!
10/10
this was as much needed as it can get.
People who post “0/10 would not bang” or “I hate Anet” are obviously butthurt that they will have to play better for the same ammount of money earned. Kind of sad.
I may be wrong, but you seem to be the one and only one who comes to the forums and cries about something that HAD TO BE DONE
CoF was a complete joke, I ran it…maybe 30-40+ times. At the end of each “farm-day” I actually felt unsatisfied even though I made a lot of money. I felt like some sort of sick farm-bot and I would have much rather spent some time doing dungeons I really wanted the achievements from. But somehow I felt an urge to continue bore myself with CoF because it was free money.
THANK YOU ANET.
this was a change I needed, now I can concentrate on things I really really love about this game.
PS: I am supremely happy that those “GLFM CoF exp, no noobs, no eles, lvl 80+ minimum 2000+ attack” – idiots are gone.
DIVA
It is the one and only feature that disgusts me of MMO’s that have this feature. While it may be okay for some MMO-genres, it would not and will never fit int GW2-atmosphere.
I would gladly see the beta version of this well designed piece of art.
BUT
I can tell all of you right now that this is extremely unlikely to happen. There is a huge number of people that are somehow(???) offended by this armor, even though they realize that it is not obligatory to wear it.
Those people spammed the forums in all of the Beta events and Anet (of course) had to react. In my opinion they did “okay” but I am on the OP’s side.
Wow, great idea! I can’t say how many times I had problems grouping up for a dungeon.
It would make dungeon playing easier!
eeeehm…
“Mighty Blow: Added a slight movement distance.”THIS is it Anet? I hope this is some sort of joke, it doesn’t even address any of the problems of the hammer, did noone read what we, the community had to say? Mighty Blow was really like the only skill there was no problem with…
If this is seriously what you call so proudly “hammer love”, this is a sad day.
I’m not so sure what you were expecting. This thread had many asking for more talents for the hammer (done) and a gap closer (done). The only thing they did not do was increase the speed on symbol of protection. That they didn’t does not mean that they won’t, but even without it the hammer is now more than useful in its intended role as a control weapon.
I am one of the few who will admit that you are probably right. When I saw “hammer love” I expected a speed up for #1 and something to #3 like similar to the warrior’s hammer skill that cripples fows in a wave. (To be honest, a chilled version of this would have been the perfect solution) Well, Anet did fine with balancing so far, but they always underperform when “improving” a weapon.
As for myself, still not a viable weapon for PvP. Period.
