Remove Cele amulet, it is cancerous.
Take a look at followinng things:

  • Revenant damage (Unrelenting Assault), reevaluate Rev blocks and heals
  • Engineer Tool-kit block CD
  • Mesmer well’s CC.
  • DH Longbow #5, seriously too much CC potential.
  • DH traps, remove the daze and put the conditions applied into the trait and improve them.
  • Druid’s healing.

i main necro, burn gaurds are my favorite snack.

If I run burn guard, the only think I really fear are necros. Even 2v1 I really try to avoid the coordinated ones, since they can kill me with 1 transfer in a critical moment.

I can not understand why people flame (pun intended) so much about burn builds.
Get good or equip condi remove.

Looking at your message history, this makes sense. You write from the perspective of a meta thief. This is probably the reason why you placed your favourite class in the “worst” spot balance-wise.
I lol’d @ Nec o top tier. Play necro in good MMR PvP. Team Fights are absolute ping pong matches with you as the ball. Eles are still strong, Rangers DO have their place and bunker guards are often too slowly paced to compete with others.

I do agree with some points, but you shouldn’t assume your subjektive views as th ultimate truth.

While I‘m against most things mesmer could pull off pre patch, this supports a really active and intelligent playstyle. Why nerf it? Get stability before healing, cc him before healing or “fake” your heal skill.
Play better and don‘t bother the forums. :>

How about several 1v1 arenas in the center of HotM? Perhaps placing 3 of them where the cannons are. (useless training since they removed raid of the capri)
There could also be an option to bet gold on the fights happening.

Radiant Retaliation - A Rework

How about these:

  • Retaliation stacks in intensity (max 3 stacks)
  • Retaliation reflects 20% of condition damage dealt to you.
  • Retaliation deals 33% more damage. If retaliation is removed, deal X damage (300 radius)
  • While under the effects of retaliation, you apply bleed on being hit. (3seconds, no ICD)
  • While under the effects of retaliation, additionally reflect 10%of damage back to the attacker.
  • Retalation deals x damage in a 300 radius for 1 second every time you are hit. (1second ICD)

I really like a few of these. Increased duration is great but it would have to be made so that it wouldn’t stack with the Runes of Radiance that gives the same effect. But this would allow us to lengthen our auras and not need that rune set.

All auras while struck under a certain threshold might be a little OP. How about gain aura when struck under 50% health depending on which attunement you are in?

That sounds like a more reasonable approach, to be honest. But it was said that a trait with an ICD is not desired, so the 50% or my original one are unlikely to happen.
I thought about the trait in a PvP-context, where those runes are not obtainable. But you are right about stacking, although: Why would it be problematic to have 66% if you trait it and sacrifice other runes in favor of this?
How about this:

  • Applying an aura extends the duration of existing aruas by 1.5 seconds.
  • Auras last an additional second.
  • Auras you apply do not expire while above the threshhold (90%)
  • Increase the duration of auras while below the threshold (100% increase, 25% HP)

Those are all the duration related traits I can think of right now.

I like where this is going, an aura trait would be nice fit for the master slot. I admire how well many of the new traits for the Elite Specializations are desgined and how interesting the ones I tested during BWE2 played out. Having said that, I think auras should be THE thing for tempest. My ideas include:

  • Whenever an aura you applied expires, it deals X damage (whirl finisher)
  • Steal auras from enemies you hit. These auras have 50% reduced duration.
  • Increase duration of auras applied by you by 33%
  • Applying an aura increases damage by 5% for 10 seconds (max 5 stacks)
  • Auras grant quickness for 2 seconds.
  • While under the effect of an aura, your boons cannot be removed, instead the duration of an aura is reduced by 1 second per boon otherwise removed.
  • When struck while below the threshold, grant all auras to yourself. Threshold 25%. (obviously needs ICD)
  • Auras applied by you have increased effects. (Shocking aura has increaed stun duration etc)

Well, those are the ones I can think of right now, it is getting really late here.

I exclusively play thief and resetting a fight at my will is good for this game because I should be able to just walk away if I don’t feel like fighting anymore. Also 360noscoping someone out of stealth is fair and people can use anti-stealth skills beforehand. (even though they don’t see me)

And truely, I dont play a lot of hotjoin, but I do hope we meet some day. XD

I like how people with Rabbit Finishers want stealth removed completely. Let’s all balance the game around inexperience and bad player requests wheee \o/

You resemble the cancer of PvP balance. You assume everyone not of your opinion must be a " Rabbid Finisher"?? That is both twisted and wrong ^__^
Stealth is such an advantage over classes with zero counter that it acutally makes me sick in real life.
I will continue my crusade on thieves’ and mesmers’ stealthing abuse in hotjoin, tPvP and WvW with vicious fury until those single players decide to play something else. I am capable of doing so in most cases. If you play PvP at all, there is a bhig chance that you raged against me for not being able to perma troll me.

Stealth should have never existed since it is a broken mechanic in PvP. I am glad for every way of countering it, so should be all players.
The issues also lies in stealthing classes having the ability to retreat and reset a fight whenever they want to.

It is so broken that I openly and almost exclusively hunt thieves and mesmers down in hotjoin for hours. Until now me and a friend do this by both using “sick ‘em!” and Ak47 them with Longbows.
I am glad HoT will introduce new and more fun ways to effectively and mercilessly hunt down mesmers and thieves in PvP and WvW until those players stop abusing this mechanic.

I hope that makes you understand hpw serious some players are regarding your precious stealth.

It should not be changed because there needs to be something to counter overpowered mechanics like PU stealths in a PvP environment. Are you seriously denying that a Mesmer or Thief should be able to perma stealth spike everyone they desire without the targets having any chance to even notice you?

I am really sick and tired of people like you that have no idea about balancing a game and yet demand their classes and playstyles to be borderline overpowered.

Tell me the reason WHY it should be “fixed” and I shall laugh.

Hello.
I would like to ask the team of developers responsible for the numbers on the latest Modrem event (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-mordrem-guard/) about why they think it is appropriate to hand out such a low amount of blossoms to player and make the “rewards” so costly. (Also costing gold???)
Does any of you believe that this is fun? If yes, why do you think 18 hours of grind is really necessary for an item.
As one of the players who cannot participate in this event for long due to having real life obligations, I am very disappointed that I will never achieve the skin that I want. Seeing the posts in other threads makes me think I am not the only one.

I would like moderators not to merge this, since this is a question to the design philosophy behind this? In MY opinion (I am not a game developer) things like these are extremely toxic to this game and this makes me sad for GW2.

Ele needs a serious buff. As of right now I can barely win 1 v 3s on point. I am pretty much forced to leave (unharmed that is) a fight and try again later???

Burning is OP, ele can stack and maintain 20-29 stacks of AoE burn for 10s on a rabid burn build.

Blighter’s Boon
Gain life force when you gain a boon. If you are in reaper’s shroud, gain health instead.

Cold Shoulder
Chill lasts longer, and chilled foes deal less damage to you.

Chilling Force
Striking a chilled foe grants might and life force.

Kill anything that gives boons to Reaper before attacking him. Since Reaper has almost zero boon generation he is free prey with these traits. And now move along.

Thanks eekzie for that review as I agree with most of your ideas about the renewd traits.
I am really excited how those traits will work out, once implemented with their final numbers. My thoughts are as follows:

  • I imagine a burning guard would be hard to balance with stacking burning. (in PvP)
  • Since PvE is all about maximizing your DPS, many minor and regular traits seem not worth it at all.
  • Those two retaliation traits (Retaliatory Sub and Healer’s Retribution) still seem absolutely horrible. I wonder what you would suggest?
  • Honor looks really good from a PvP perspective. Those grandmasters are all very build defining and stand out to be a prime example of how grandmasters should be. (Really having trouble to choose from)
  • Zeal grandmasters seem kind of lackluster. (Beside Symbolic Avenger, which is very niche)

In the end I am still very happy that they managed to “clean” the old traits up. (80%)
But will Anet do the last 20% before 2016? I doubt it.

Your choice of classes is good. You have everything covered. But yeah switch that guard to zerk. Ideal comp would be D/F ele, phalanx war, hammer guard, thief and mes.

So generally what happens is that we have five characters in berserker gear, but we’ll have a warrior and guardian using support builds while the other three can just go pure DPS traits.

That is the main issue, GW2 allow you to be supporter with the DPS gear w/o any penalty, protection, retaliation, aegis,vigor … all that doesn’t get any benefit from any stats besides boon duration, get protection from a full zerker guardian or a full cleric guardian is indifferent, so why not gear with the highest DPS set?

Boons and protective skills should be affected by defensive stats, like protection reduce 15% damage + certain % of caster healing power, or something in that line.

This is exactly the source of the Problem. And your solution is a thing I’ve seen a few times here. Why Anet wouldn’t implement this, is beyond me.

I absolutely love the idea about weapon skill expansion. Having a little “tweak” for each skill would even be enough to further define one’s role in GW2.
It actually fits every request that has been made in the various CDIs as well.

Another example would be Staff#2 Necro:
Mark of Blood
0 – Normal functionality, 3 stacks of bleeding, self regen
1 – 5 stacks of Torment, no regen
2 – No bleeding, higher base damage, pulses 3 times
3 – No bleeding, 2 sec protection, 5 sec regen to 5 allies in range

I too feel that the shield underperforms in most aspects of the game. Only time I grab my shield is on Khylo (sPvP).

I like your ideas, Fortus. I think Aegis is a slighty better choice, as it should be support oriented by design. Cooldown 20s untraited seems reasonable as well.

For shield 5: I suggest removing the “detonate” and make it a channeled skill which either
- 1 heals allies inside the bubble increasingly for every second inside (200\400\800\1600)
- 2 blocks max 1 attack/second for allies inside for a maximum of 4 seconds
- 3 increases toughness by 1000 for the channeled duration for allies

What do you think?
